Hi,

I'm new here and new to MN but some kindly souls suggested I join the thread here as well. I'm due on 18 August with my first. Currently living in Singapore so ditto longwayfromhome on the 30 degree heat and humidity although unfortunately it is constantly like that here so I'm not going to get a break from the heat at all apart from a trip back to blighty in April for nephew's christening.

I do have a rather daft question though as I'm new to this - can anyone enlighten me on the acronyms - dd, ds,dh etc - sorry to be so thick I'll blame the hormones....

TS..how exciting that you know that you're having a girl.Owen's a lovely name for a girl!

I don't envy those in hot climates but I would like it just a little warmer here!

Maternity clothes can be made cheaply. I made a complete wedding outfit for less than £10 for me.and time wise it only took a few hours.I'm not an expensive dressmaker and you lot would all get mates rates so don't let price put you off! Lol re comment about postage because of all the fabric! But if we took the poled out of the tent before posting it would be lighter...

Not sure who asked about indian wedding wear (I'm on a pda with a 2inch screen so its hard to find specific posts). Don't get your mind set on wearing a sari unless you will have someone to dress you (who knows what they're doing) on the morning of the wedding.they're really hard to fold correctly and look messy if not done properly.that said,you have many other beautiful options.I can't spell the Indian names but the main two are a)trousers worn under a long length tunic and b)a usually long flared skirt with a short top worn with a scarf tucked into the waistband at the front and drapped up over shoulder
Option b can look very similar to a sari and is alot easier to put on and wear all day. What really makes an Indian wedding outfit is the fabric.trust me,you can't be overthetop with your choice of colour nor the amount of beads and sparkle.the more the better!

welcome welcome expectant just dive in, we're all very friendly here!! Hope you're keeping well with your pregnancy, congratulations - you must be very excited!

well girls am only on to boast (no, not sex yet, will tackle the legs this morning in the shower) but I - WAIT FOR IT - WE GOT A FULL NIGHTS SLEEP!!!!!!! No dd1 coming through with nightmares (i.e wanting into our bed) and no dd2 waking up at 5.30 raging for no bloody good reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dh was up with problems with his tooth during night, I never noticed - I woke up to find bathroom sink full of blood which was kinda freaky but then I realised it was after 7am and thought, as long as its not one of the kids I don't care - dh can look after himself!!!!!!!

right, am off to eat pancakes for breakfast and think positive thoughts for dh who is in exams all day!!!

Morning all! Cannot believe how many posts there were yesterday! I appear to have missed out on some vicar/swinging action - it's turned into a very cheap porno in here! Speaking of which, I had a very sexy dream last night so woke up with quite a smile on my face. Luckily it was about DH and not someone else - I have a bit of a habit of having inappropriate and very vivid dreams about people I don't even fancy, like Adrian Chiles . I know.

TS congrats on your baby girl - that's very funny. And boo to all disappointed DDs who aren't going to be bridesmaids this summer. Like the idea of dressing them up in flouncy dress anyway with little basket.

I am SO pleased I have no weddings to go to this time. Last time while pg I was bridesmaid at my sis's wedding while five months pg (thankfully she had the good taste to let the three of us wear different black numbers), then went to my goddaughter's wedding two days before DD was born, at that lovely stage where even maternity clothes don't fit, in the middle of that heatwave two summers ago, with ankles like lumps of dough.

Expectant, welcome to the board! You will find a community of Krispy Kreme lovers here. Not sure if you're caught up on the shorthand yet but if not, DH is 'dear/darling husband', DP is 'dear partner' DD is 'dear daughter', DS son, MIL mother in law etc. Hope that helps.

My pelvic floor is bust already and I haven't even had this baby yet. Every time I sneeze or cough, a little bit of wee comes out. I am old woman smelling of wee.

LOL at vicar fancying thing. My first boyf was the son of a vicar. No I didn't fancy his dad (shock] but I do have fond memories of a lot of rude fumblings in the vicarage

Had triple test yesterday. MW said I would hear in a week. If I get a letter then it's automatically good news as if it's not then the results are sent to the doctor instead

Will update my next appt. 20 week scan. On my birthday!

Morning ladies

You have all been very busy. I must try and log on of an evening, but that would mean losing out on stuffing face or sleeping time. No offence girls.

ALBS - You're not wrong to be upset about the fact your DD is going to be so dissapointed. I would do as Dizzy says, dress your DD up, then everybody will be looking at how cute she looks

Dizzy - Fantastic news about not bleeding for a week. Hopefully the doc will give you the all clear then the shagathon can commence (or is it only me that has turned into a randy whale?, How can I feel sexy and fat at the same time )

VG - I have felt movement past couple of weeks but not much since Thursday. I did work very late Wed so I've convinced myself baby is still tired . But to reassure you definitely more happening some days than others

TS - Another girl, how wonderful, will probably take you a while to get your head around it. A friend of mine was convinced (for no reason) that she was having a boy. Had a scan at 28 weeks and said it was a girl.She was really pleased she found out as she felt she would have been shocked to have given birth to a girl (even though it was all in her mind it was a boy)

LOW - Lovely idea about having wedding blessed. I would like to be married already to have the opportunity blessed. I just find that now we have the house and 2nd on the way there is always something else to be spending the money on.

CC - Shelf above ass you mentioned. I am looking more and more like a Renault Megane everyday

Finally Miamla - Your offers of outfit making is so kind. I know what I want (which is always my problem) Basically I know a dress is gonna be out of the question, my ankles are already 'thickening'. The outfit I have in my head is some floaty/linen cream trousers, and a floaty tunic top (long enough to hide fat backside in cream trousers). Although is ther room for things to 'float' when you're the size of a house?. Do you think this is possible to find or something you can make? Or do you specialise in dresses? Thank you xxx

Still got my effing migraine lurking. Midwife said yesterday that they should stop after 20 weeks but the doc should be able to prescribe something...

Hi Everyone,

Haven't had a chance to log on for a while but just spent the last 30 mins catching up on all the goss.
Not much news here, had a regular midwife appt, heard the hearbeat which was good. Been suffering a bit from headaches, anyone else get this when pregnant? I am going to see a homeopath this week, would like to find an alternative to medication.

Can't believe some of you feel your babies moving already, so excited for you. Don't think i have felt anything yet. Def begining to look a bit more pregnant now, especially in the evenings. Currently sitting at work with my trousers undone!

Anyway, lovely catching up with everything.

Shaza that's quite comforting about the movement - thanks. When I lie on my tummy (actually - are we not supposed to?) I can feel my pulse beating in it (weird) but haven't felt what I was sure were movements for ages. Sorry - bockety sentence there.

Have a f*load of work to get through this morning, will have RSI by lunchtime, but will have earned heaps by afternoon, hurrah!

Slayer of 5-year-olds? Why, did you advocate letting them play in the back garden unattended while you went to the loo? That's usually enough to portray self as monster. [hollow laugh emoticon]

VG - I can only really sleep on my stomach. So I've adopted the recovery position sleeping mode. So one leg kind of up so not fully on my belly. But soon that's going to be a problem. I just find it hard to sleep any other way

I was also wondering about the journo stuff, see, another reason to stop eating and get on the laptop of a night

She was a student journo asking for people to give her quotes for an article about parenting sites - anyone who'd found MN to be a lifesaver, etc. We were terribly polite to her here but she got completely roasted elsewhere as she'd posted on 20 or 30 threads.

Am sure she's feeling marvellous about her career today!

libby & Shazza she was posting asking for people to talk to her as she was writing an article on mumsnet - she did't go through proper media requests and posted on literally hundreds of threads with same request - was kinda run out of town/ reported to HQ to be removed - nothing more sinister or exciting

shazza get sleeping on your side in recovey position with pillow between your knees and when bump gets a bit bigger pillow under bump x

Shazza that's EXACTLY how I sleep and already wondering about propping the bent leg with pillows for future months when it will stop being practical and comfy. I have always slept on my tummy, can't remember how I managed last pregnancy (as was nearly 10 years ago!).
