From Owen to Olwen? Twilight, come back and explain!!!

miamla · 03/03/2008 19:24

Blimey! Who hasn't got a wedding to go to this summer?!! I'm more than happy to take any orders (I'm not professional, its just a hobby)but don't want to post an advert in the wrong place.I wouldn't cope v well if I was hounded out of here like olivia!I'll find out where I am allowed to advertise and I'll let you all know.

Be wary of overly protective people at weddings...I got told off for dancing because I was "shaking the baby too much"!!! And she's a mum! I just laughed and carried on head banging!

As for bumps...I'm definitely showing and my linea nigra started to appear yday morning so I had a lovely mother's day surprise!

Twilight..you can't leave us all in suspense like that!

I've got my first antenatal tomorrow.is anyone else starting theirs already?

TwilightSurfer · 03/03/2008 19:31

What a day this has been!! DD was up ALL NIGHT fussing. Dropped her pee at doctor's this morning and.....she's another UTI. This time she has to go for an ultrasound (in 2 weeks) to check for renal problems. ARGH!

On to the more important story. DH, DD and I arrive at the perinatalogist's office at 7:45AM (WAY TOO EARLY FOR DD TO BE PLEASANT). She won't leave my side, not even to have my bloods done. Anyway, during the scan the tech asked why I thought I was having a boy. I explained a doctor (in THIS office) said he was 80% sure I was. With that TWO other doctors were brought in and looked me up and down (literally they tilted the table I was on so my head was down and my feet were up in the air). The eldest doc finally spoke and said, "if you're having a boy then he as a defect....no penis." Honestly it was the funniest ultrasound appointment I have ever had, even my daughter was giggling so that should could hardly breath (this after throwing a huge fit when we arrived). So out with Owen and .... back to the drawing board for a GIRL name.

TwilightSurfer · 03/03/2008 19:38

I think I've caught up with the rest of the posts. I too have a wedding to attending on 28th of June. It's 7 hours south of here. That time of year, in that area, it's quite unbearable when NOT pregnant. At 36 weeks....I'm not sure I will be able to tolerate the heat.

I've been quite unpleasant to DH lately as well. Hormones do have a way of making me less patient. I find myself saying, "I'm sorry" alot.

Dizzy...I've not succumb to sexual desire in 14 weeks and 2 days (i'm 16+2 today).

am i caught up?

TwilightSurfer · 03/03/2008 19:40

Oh...LOADS of movement for me today. And the pain I've been getting on my left side is the baby's blasted head. She just happened to be in that painful position when the tech started scanning and, bless her heart, gave herself away as the CAUSE!!

Also, I feel bigger than a barn. Stretchy clothes full time for me now. Do agree on the low-rider knickers in a bigger than normal size instead of maternity undies.

TS thats hysterical news, I have two dd's and I love it, am not bothered if this is another one although will punch the next person that says 'are you trying for a boy?!'
Is there a female version of Owen?!

am only not giving in to the urges as was told not to whilst bleeding and can't face asking the GP if am allowed some now not bled for a week!!!

maimla you post away with your adverts - anyone tries to chase you off and come over here and get me and VG we'll soon sort them out

miamla · 03/03/2008 20:08

Well in that case...who wants a wedding outfit?!

CaptainCaveman · 03/03/2008 20:32

Well I don't have a wedding to go to this summer . Although ALBS, perhaps your husband is officiating at a few weddings, maybe I could invite myself along to one ?

Fab news about your scan TS ! Not so fab about dd having another uti though, poor little mite. How's she doing?

I feel like I've gained a stone since yesterday! Developing a parcel shelf above my ass! Must stop eating so many puddings and crap - that is after I've polished off the lemon cheesecake sitting in my fridge

longwayfromhome · 03/03/2008 20:40

Hello all, it's been very nice reading the messages today. Not much news from here on the other side of the planet, but the terrible 30 degree heat and humidity has got a bit better in the last few days ... and I am very glad that it will be winter by the time I am very pregnant.

poppysocks · 03/03/2008 21:27

If we're talking weddings, we have one on 26th July.... 400 miles away.... DH will def go - unless there's a specific reason not to. My Mum's offered to come up to babysit so that we could leave DD here and do a quick dash down and back but the trouble is that I know she wouldn't then want to go home between then and coming back up before the baby's born and I'm not sure we would all do v. well with that! I will, of course, be vast by then. The bride, though, is editor of one of the pregnancy magazines so maybe I could see if she could pull a few strings for a nice outfit for her wedding?

How funny TS! How are you feeling now that you know you're having a DD rather than DS? Had you got used to the idea of a boy?

Dizzy - What a grumpy vicar! My sister wanted to ban children from her wedding and was told by her vicar that as marriage is about family, children etc. their presence was non-negotiable. I was bridesmaid so DH was alone to look after DD. He went armed with enough raisins for one every 30 seconds and a pen with which to deface the Order of Service. Worked like a dream!

Had a lovely weekend. Went shopping for maternity clothes on Sunday and in the nicest possible way, had a lovely time on my own. Just reflected on how happy I am and how much I love being pg. Once this one's here I think I'll find knowing that (if all goes well...) I won't ever be pregnant again quite hard.

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 21:33

oohh poppy where did you go shopping? I cannot believe you know the editor of pg magazine and haven't blag loads of freebies?!?

I know how you feel about everything being the last time, although I secretly harbour notions for 4dc but know dh would rather chew off his left arm

hi longwayfromhome hope you're managing to keep cool, strange to be wishing you that when I'm wrapped in a blanket trying to keep cost of central heating down lol

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 21:59

yes poppy do tell where you got lovely maternity socks? Am thinking to do bit of shopping myself this week.

Anyone can reassuringly tell me they have no movement?

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 22:02

TS - wow a girl!! I tink you are the first to find out. Wow, how fast it's all gone to get to this stage!

I seem to have stumbled into a swingers forum though , I'd offer up my DH but I see little enough of him as it is - he left at gone 6 this morning and only got back at 9 ish. Hopefully Easter holidays and SUmmer holidays will be alot better.

Miamla - I'd take you up on it (v. hard to find flattering clothes esp. wedding/maternity/summer/plus size all rolled into one) but I think the postage would be huge due to the amount of material I shall need!

Aside from all these summer weddings, I am hoping to get the CHristening abit more organised this time around (jumping the gun I know!) DS was 3/4 months old last time we got around to it! So I shall have to find a post baby outfit also. We were thinking of having our wedding blessed at the same time, but don't want to gatecrash babys day I think I will leave it until I have loads tons of weight - summer '09 or something

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 22:07

Oh dear, swingers, etc, I do bring out the worst in people. Don't worry, LordofWaffle will be safe unless doing God's work / locking up baddies / upholding justice.

MiaMia I'd love to get something made but think will hold off commissioning you till I am normal again & can get something I can wear again & again for ages. You sound very talented!

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 22:08

I know this is jumping waaaay ahead (but time is flying!) but when is everyone doing their hospital bags? I did mine about 32 ish weeks last time, may do it earlier this time just in case and I am either super organised, or really disorganised... so if it's not done by 20/24 weeks I can see me in labour at 40 weeks grabbing things from drawers as I rush out the door!

Don't get me started at children & weddings... makes me so annoyed people 'ban' them. People get so caught up in making a 'perfect' day (Hello magazine type perfect) they forget (IMO) what it's all about. When DH and I get our marriage blessed (we got married in a register office, 2 people, no reception or anything) we will have more of a 'proper' wedding, and kids will be more than welcome. I can't imagine anything nicer than kids running round while I am getting 'married', babies gurgling, little toddlers crawling around, hiding behind the alter... then all doing dodgy dancing later on, that's what it's about for me. Apart from the religious aspect, obviously. Wooops, waffling!

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 22:09

LordofWaffle!

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 22:10

Eeerrrr.... maternity socks?

poppysocks · 03/03/2008 22:10

VG - Not sure I've had any movement yet either. Think I might have, but each time it could have been something else. Not worried yet and have been SO busy, but will prob. start to if I'm not sure I feel things soon as DD started making her presence felt early, esp. for a 1st.

DD - I didn't exactly far afield but managed to get a few bits and bobs (well some decent jeans and vaguely attractive bras). Think bright lights would have just been too confusing (and expensive)!

Friend came up with some great freebies last time so not pushing it this time and just enjoying the random things which occasionally drop through the door.

Would love to keep having babies, but realistically that's just not a goer plus DH has always been SO definite about 2 at most so I've accepted that (just as he accepted that 0 or 1 was no good for me). Think in reality it will be hard though when this LO is DD's age and that's it for me on the childbearing bit.

poppysocks · 03/03/2008 22:11

Mmm - I wondered about the socks too...

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 22:13

Sorry just cos called you poppy for short and socks, the rest of your name, are clothes.

"Where for clothes, poppsocks?" is translation.

Mud, clear as, surely.

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 22:15

Oops not popsocks, unattractive, obv poppysocks, pretty.

Grunt, tired.

TwilightSurfer · 03/03/2008 22:20

LadyofWaffle, funny, I was just thinking of hospital bag over the weekend. I figure that's one thing I can "CONTROL" completely at the moment AND feel good that I've accomplished something! I'll probably start putting mine together soon.

Poppy I had just gotten use to the boy idea when I started calling "it" Owen. The idea of a boy was hard to grasp. I just figured I'd have another girl......now I am and I'm quite comfortable with that, very comfortable indeed.

Longway sounds like our temps are about the same at the moment. Of course that's about my high (which is kinda unusual for this time of year). It's been a NICE break from the cold. You'll have your baby in the same season I had my last one. Winter's nice for birthing.

Captain, DD has been an angel since her outburst in the scan this morning. She's napping now (i just woke). She even took her new antibiotic without fuss....9 more days of it but it's only once daily. I'm hoping we just didn't get the correct antibiotic last time and that this is nothing serious. I just feel horrible though because "now I know" her wetting was medical not behavioral. I've given back all her things I took away for discipline. Being a mom is hard!

poppysocks · 03/03/2008 22:21

Duh - on my part! Not used to my alter ego. Maternity socks though. An idea...?!

VintageGardenia · 03/03/2008 22:26

Even my ankles are fat now, so maternity socks perhaps even necessary!

TS great news about your daughter on the way & best of luck with DD1's uti, poor little girl.
