CC, so sorry to hear about your cat {{hugs}} xxx

VG - !!! I love ARs (never even been in one though!). We didn't even have a tape player in the car DH just swapped - well, it was there but didn't work - drove me crazy! I remember my sister had an (old) beetle once and there was a tape player duck taped under the glove compartment!

Hazie - good place to start is the big essential things like cot, car seat, pram etc. and build up from there x

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 10:22

morning all!

CC your poor wee cat, hope you're doing ok
((hugs and hair strokes))

listen to us all yapping on about cars lol - I have no idea what am talking about half the time but unfortunately my mazda doesn't have 3 seats in the back for car seats it'll have to go OR we'll need to go everywhere in 2 cars!!

had dentist this morning so left side of face completely numb and am SOOOOOOOOO hungry! have Dr at 11.10 - am beginnging to wonder if am falling apart with all these apts!

lovely and sunny here but bloomin cold so will spend afternoon with dd's decorating flower pots for mothers day presents - a lovely messy time consuming INDOOR activity!!

skynews I think you are absolutely right, well done on making a hard decision and sticking to it

LadyOfWaffle · 28/02/2008 10:23

LS - we used to drive to Ireland (mum, my sister and me in the back with the dog! and a ton of luggage) in a citreon ax! Ooooh, the cramp!

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 10:24

hazie I don't mean to sound cheeky but find out who is wanting to buy you what before you start spending - you'll find people are so generous, esp with your first, that you would be as well checking with them - by this I mean family not random people in the street

LofW did you get any sleep?!?

alittlebitshy · 28/02/2008 10:26

hmm how old is our car? erm it's an R reg so that must make it 1997? 1996? we can only afford v cheap second hard cars - and we have to drive them til they die. Which the last one did up In Alnwick on holiday - and we had to cram an estate car's worth of holiday crap into a small courtesy car. Hmm. not fun.
I hate the size of our car, but the boot is deffo useful for going away etc etc.
I only passed my test 18 months ago and although am a lot more conifdent at DRIVING and can park in a car park, I cannot (well, will not) do parking on a road. I think if i had a less long car i would try but I am so bad at judging if i'm going to hit the car behing. eek .

ooh will look inot getting an itrip if it's as easy as that..... Thanks

libbyssister · 28/02/2008 10:27

LofW - bet you had your feet up on luggage in the foot well, and a pile of stuff separating you and your sister . Ahhh happy memories....

LadyOfWaffle · 28/02/2008 10:32

LS - sister was in the front, same with booze cruises to France! I get rammed in the back with crates of beer under my feet! (for the France trips, not going to Ireland!) I cannot wait to go to Ireland in the front seat! Such a novelty.

DD - Guess what time he went to bed... 11.30 The little amount of time he napped must have set him up again for another 4 odd hours! Even then he jumped out of the cot and came in with me and DH (until he was asleep then back in the cot!) GOt to keep my eye on him from about 4pm onwards, make sure he cannot even close his eyes for a second so he can get to bed at a decent hour! I couldn't sleep though last night in the end so got up for about an hour - just typical!

libbyssister · 28/02/2008 10:33

ALBS - if you get an iTrip then you can also play your iPod through radios at home, so I can have it on in the kitchen too. Useful, as we don't have docking speakers or anything.

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 10:35

ah LofW thats pants, we got woken up at 1.30 am afraid reached for the medised - its just been going on too long and due to current nappies/drooling/red cheeks and sore bum am justifying it as teething issues. Anyway once she was doped up put her inbetween me and dh and ignored her - she slept till 7.20 - yipee!!!

can you do a more active thing with him after 4, I know I leave the running about and dancing until then so they're too distracted to nod off lol

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2008 11:02

LOW come and visit when you come to Ireland am in Dublin.

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2008 11:02

V near where the ferry comes in from Holyhead!

libbyssister · 28/02/2008 11:49

Captain C - are you ok?

Katelyn · 28/02/2008 11:57

I'm also due on 14th August ...

Got my AF something or other bloodtest tomorrow morning....

Congratulations all.

Katelyn x

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 12:00

katelyn welcome welcome and congrats - hope you're keeping well - why not add yourself to our list and join our inane banter and patter

VG - you lucky lucky sod, I LOVE Dublin! My best friend lives in Greystones and everytime an over drag her in on the dart to just soak it all up!

SKYTVADDICT · 28/02/2008 12:04

Welcome Katelyn. Is it the AFP test for Downs and Spina Bifida? Thats what I had last week and has led to me seeing consultant this morning.

Well I'm back and I have seen him.

Consultant very supportive and said he likes to meet people who know what they want - or don't want! They were going to do the amnio today . I nearly went for it on the grounds that I would get a couple of days off work .

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 12:14

PMSL Skyaddict! goof for you sticking to your guns. In past 24hrs I have been scan, consulatant, dentist and GP am about demenetd but at least no longer getting railroaded - how people can respect someone with a face as swollen as a pumpkin and unaware of dribble running down their chin I'll never know

TwilightSurfer · 28/02/2008 12:15

Captain I'm very sorry and now I'm worried because my eldest cat has had a stomach bug of sorts every since you mentioned yours failed to use the litter box....mine did the same the following day. If you're anything like me you are very attached to your cat and find that you feel more emotion for him/her than for most humans you know.

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2008 12:16

I love Dublin too! [smug]

We are on the DART line and Greystones is about 10 mins from me en voiture. I'm desperate for one of you lot to come and visit cos after the babies are born you lot will all be doing chummy UK-based meet-ups and I'll be sobbing alone into my saggy nursing bra.

NONE of my friends is having a baby at the same time as me. People can be sooooo selfish.

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 12:20

right, thats me, never turn down an invitation - me -me -me lol
not sure when I'll get over due to stupid consultant, am even missing best friends 30th in April and dreading thought of ryanair to dublin with 3 kids in tow, 2 was bad enough but by golly good gosh I WILL BE THERE [GRIN]

LadyOfWaffle · 28/02/2008 12:26

Welcome katelyn

VG - will def. pop in if I get over We used to stay in Dublin the night before heading off up north at my Uncles (well, I say Dublin, it's out of Dublin somewhere, where Ballykissangel was filmed) but we get very lost!

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 12:27

LofW i say we only visit if she promises to feed us from the Avoca Cafe - no need to be that close to the most wonderful place in the world and not spread a bit of that happinedd

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2008 12:28

Well I do happen to have a small stockpile of their mars bar rice krispie things ...

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 12:32

I bought the cookbook from amazon and just sit and look longingly at the pictures
best friend is coming to visit in a couple of weeks and been WELL warned not to turn up empty handed lol

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2008 12:53

Hope you get something nice!

Katelyn you are welcome, congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with your tests.

PetitFilou1 · 28/02/2008 13:10

Hi all Just a quick message as my dcs are downstairs watching too much tv. I've been up since 4.45am with ds (who wet the bed) and dh is away. Still, been to the park today with two other mums who've had worse nights than mine so I do feel slightly better.

Got my combined risk results back today and I am low risk 1:1900 for Downs. So fingers crossed!

And non pregnancy related, can everyone cheer for my dd who at 2.6 is pretty much potty trained in the day (after a week) and completely dry at night! At least something is going right!
