TwilightSurfer · 25/02/2008 19:32

Hi! Sounds as though all is well on the thread apart from aches and wind. I had enough energy to sweep out my garage which is quite a major accomplishment since I have three cats that sleep there every night. DH will be proud. DD and I have just spent two hours playing outside in our bathing suits. It's really not warm enough but we did it anyway. We just sat in the sunshine on the back patio, out of the breeze.....it was soooooo nice. One week from today I'll get my gender confirming scan!!! YEAH!!! Other than that there's not much going on in this part of the world.

CaptainCaveman · 25/02/2008 20:31

YAY, we heard Mr Sweetheart's heart thumping away like a train. Dh and ds were listening too. Then we had to listen to ds' heart beat too. I'm very happy atm!!

longwayfromhome · 25/02/2008 21:16

Greetings to all.

Buckets, after some searching I have finally located cocoa powder, in a diet food shop. Ingredients now assembled and I will report back with results.

dizzydixies · 25/02/2008 21:22

cocoa powder from a diet food shop - am sorry but is that not a contradiction in terms!?!

VintageGardenia · 26/02/2008 09:16

CC great to hear about your hearing the heartbeat! How nice to be able to do that at home.

Re. your Smelly Cat, I'm pretty sure I've read that you are supposed to stay away from catcrap during pregnancy, unless this is an old wives' tale.

Nope it's here

Maybe next time you should be asking your DH to do the clearing while you get the litter . As a cure for headaches, I think I'll be sticking to my pint of water and a darkened room!

VintageGardenia · 26/02/2008 09:18

In fact that applies to TwilightSurfer too, mucking out the garage.

I wish it was warm enough here to play outside in togs! We are still huffing steam-breath and wrapping scarves all the way up to our noses here. The dogs love walking in this weather though.

libbyssister · 26/02/2008 10:32

Blimey, I'm just listening to the 'Motherhood special' on Woman's Hour and it's all scary bananas! A lot of talk about 'maternal ambivalence' and postnatal depression.

Is anyone worried about this, when August rolls around? Anyone had it?

libbyssister · 26/02/2008 10:35

Someone in the discussion has just suggested 'meals on wheels' for mothers in the first few weeks with a newborn. Genius!

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 11:09

lol morning libby! meals on wheels would be great - I normally cook up batches and freeze them for dh to sort himself and kids out whilst in hosp and for when I get home. I like cooking though so doesn't bother me doing it!

I had mild PND after dd1 - not so much depression but wild mood swings - took medication for a few months and was ok. Had worse PND after dd2 but she was difficult birth, difficult baby, she was in hosp, mum very ill and eventually went to Dr and admitted all getting on top of me. More meds and wonderful support from HV and Dr so am not frightened of it this time round. if it happens again then it happens, the main thing to realise is that it is a condition you have no control over, it is not uncommon and you are not alone.

CC lovely news about heartbeat! I had some sofa time aerobics from bean last night and dh even have a wee shot to see if he could feel it - not sure if he was just humouring me though!

I have scan and consultant tomorrow so fingers crossed, am hoping to get all clear before I merge into this couch and disappear completely

LadyOfWaffle · 26/02/2008 11:25

Morning all re: meals after birth, the MW taking my ante natal classes last time was saying how we should all make loads of meals and freeze them to help our DHs out etc. etc. Dh can just blooming cook his own meals! Noooo way am I standing over the stove making lasagne and shepherds pie in bulk at 39 weeks! Have you all got bumps yet? I have been trying to feel mine, but it's just all soft and how it normally is - a few weeks ago i was sure I could feel something right down low, just about knicker line, now I can't. Not sure if it's because I am errr... 'bigger' and it's hidden or what. I have looked online for a doppler thingy, but the only one I can find is from 21 weeks. I was supposed to have a scan tomorrow, but think I have to re-book as I'll only be about... 16+5 (totally lost track of days!). I'm off to look again for a dopppler thingy! Hope you're all well x

libbyssister · 26/02/2008 11:40

I cooked lots of chilli and spag bol and froze it before DS, and will hopefully do something this time around... but wouldn't it be great if it was the LAW that you had to provide meals for new parents

LadyofW ? I'm a bit the same, was sure I could feel a hard lump the other day, but now it's all jelly belly again. Figure I can hold off telling anyone for a while longer! Still only 14+4...

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 11:56

show offs, I def have a bump but have been so overweight for so long I think people are too fightened to ask incase am not

libbyssister · 26/02/2008 12:03

dizzy, the only reason I'm getting away with it (or so I think) is because I'm not exactly honed and toned normally.

If a suck in my stomach (hard) then it flattens out a bit and I wouldn't be able to do that with a proper pregnant tum...

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 12:07

when was out for lunch on sunday I was most hated person there due to elasticated trousers seeing as we all ate so much!! remember as well I'm 18wks so a bit further on, one morning you'll look down in shower and just think, oh, where are my toes!?!

LadyOfWaffle · 26/02/2008 12:10

I can't see my toes anyway after DS I was trying to errr... 'prune' yesterday and one hand was holding back my belly and shoving boobs out of the way, I just gave up and went willy nilly with the razor! God only knows what shape everything is in now!

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 12:12

LofW we were talking about that the other day as I was remembering they shaved me for dd2 EMCS and it was hellish growing back in through wound - will be getting a wax before hand this time round

Buckets · 26/02/2008 12:45

LOL at Longwayfromhome struggling to find cocoa in South America, home of um ... cocoa.
Just had chipshop chips for lunch, followed by more Caramel Apple Betty hmmm, only one piece left. Beginning to enjoy being pg now I'm choosing to eat crap as opposed to compulsively eating crap to stave off nausea (in vain).
Just found out 2 friends are also due in August - how do people keep these things secret? I came out to all and sundry by 6wks!

Pinchypants · 26/02/2008 13:24

Afternoon ladies,
Have just caught up with tales of morning nookie, cat sick, heartbeats, wobbly tums and ladygarden pruning. Me and DH have had our second shag since finding out I was pg as well - whoo hoo! Had to be quick as DD was just waking up but don't particularly need 15 stone of extra weight for terribly long periods of time, put it that way!

Haven't braved the Jungle yet but it seriously needs sorting. There always seems something better to do with 15 minutes, somehow. Like eat or sleep.

I made a few meals for the freezer last time round, and some of them were still in there the last time I defrosted it, when DD was about a year old. She was born on 1 August 2006 in the middle of that heatwave. God only knows why I thought we'd want to be eating shepherd's pie...Not going to bother this time round, obviously.

Felt baba scooting around a couple of hours ago - forgot how nice it is having company down below! Still a bit freaky as well, but reassuring.

Have lovely afternoons and catch up soon,
Pinchy xx

longwayfromhome · 26/02/2008 13:24

So, finally, yes, I can definitely recommend the chocolate mocha cake recipe. Also, easier to cook than steak and I still have plenty of cocoa powder left.

No obvious bump, I just look and feel a bit fat, but I can definitely feel something kind of half way up to my tummy button now, which is very exciting.

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 13:48

PINCHY!!!! you mentioned nookie [humph] did you not get the memo on 'unmentionables'?!?!?

PetitFilou1 · 26/02/2008 15:20

Libbysister I had PND with ds but not with dd. Don't worry though just because you heard about it on the radio doesn't mean you'll get it!

PetitFilou1 · 26/02/2008 15:21

Can I also add to my crap day which you can read all about on the chat thread if you want to feel depressed - that my team assistant said I have put weight on round my hips and thighs she's right though!

libbyssister · 26/02/2008 15:54

It was just a weird set of discussion topics on the radio because it was supposed to be talking about motherhood in celebration for Mother's Day and all they did was talk about really depressing (no pun intended) stuff. I'm not saying you have to sugar coat it but there is a joyful side...

Oooh petit, evil team assistant! Doesn't the old wives tale go that if you put it on over your hips and waist then you're expecting a girl...?

dizzydixies · 26/02/2008 15:58

Libby - thats a load of shite wives tale, I piled it on everywhere with dd1 - I mean I seriously looked like a walking double garage - people were trying to park in me FFS!

Buckets · 26/02/2008 16:14

Heheh and I lost 2stone with my DD! I hadn't realised you could put weight on your shoulders until it came off mine, I'd always thought my shoulders were naturally big and chubby. But then I hadn't noticed that I was 2stone overweight before I got pg either - all weight put on through sheer happiness and complacence of 2yrs of marriage.
