Now now libby you stick to your mango like a good girl.

libbyssister · 22/02/2008 11:27

Buckets! That such a man thing to do! Ha ha ha ha ha. Did he say 'oh I thought you'd put them there for a reason'? That's always my DH's excuse

Vintage - fruit toast has fruit in it. V. healthy

gigglegirl · 22/02/2008 11:34

hmm cleaning not going brilliantly!
ds2 asleep on me and looks so cute couldn't poss move! so, have been watching er repeat on ch 4, working and talking to ds1 who is going through a book my DH bought for my birthday - how to make dress p outfits for kids (don't ask!!! not the best present!)

VintageGardenia · 22/02/2008 11:44

That sounds familiar somehow - "I just assumed you wanted them there. How was I to know?".

Here are some lovely maternity / breastfeeding clothes

www.babeswithbabies.com/section_details.asp?section=Breastfeeding/tops&section_id=19

the tops are a cheaper alternative to the lovely but pricey Isabella Oliver stuff

www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/wrap-maternity-tops/D/30000/P/3:100:2070

I wish I could look like this while preggers but alas more like this

gigglegirl · 22/02/2008 11:51

ha ha ha - how funny - same here mind you I would like to look like the first one when I am not pregnant!!!!

how many babies here do you think???

VintageGardenia · 22/02/2008 12:00

Oh my Lord.

That is definitely Photoshopped there's no way you could have a bump like Concorde and neat little B cup boobs.

I refuse to accept it

VintageGardenia · 22/02/2008 12:04

On the other hand maybe she is about to give birth to this mango which we could all share between us & thereby steer clear of fruit toast for next 5 months.

I wish you'd never mentioned it btw I have now a longing for Maltana - do you know it - sticky malty stuff best served as vehicle for approx half a kilo of butter.

alittlebitshy · 22/02/2008 12:25

whoah - that bump was massive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked for a mango yesterday lol but the sainsburys i went in had none Instead I had a nectarine day, and today bought some plums in markies. Finally feeling like eating fruit after hardly touching it for 3 months.

I was looking at the isabella oliver site earlier. Gorgeous stuff but waaaaay too pricy for me. Thinking about the bump bands though......

HalfFrench · 22/02/2008 12:39

Hello all again -

A question for all you experienced lot on this thread.

DP and I want to go on a weeks walking trip in Southern Spain. I shall be 20 weeks by the time of the trip but when I called the travel company to book, and told them out of courtesy about my 'condition' they got very jumpy and are checking with the operator to see if they will 'allow' me to go. I am not happy about this because as far as I am concerned I am fit and healthy and have had trouble free pregnancy and walk a round trip of 5k everyday to work and back. The walking tour is just that, a walking tour with different routes each day and back to the hotel at the end of day. The group, as with all these type of tours, will probably consist of people with a range of ages and fitness levels and if I feel tired or worn out I will just stay in and around the hotel for that day.

So what do you all think? Am I being mad to go on this sort of trip at 20 weeks pregnant or are the tour company being a bit precious?

Yours grumpliy....

PetitFilou1 · 22/02/2008 12:53

HalfFrench It is likely it is something to do with the travel company's insurance policy and whether they would be insured if anything happened to you. It is an additional risk for them I suppose. Nothing to do with your general state of health. Maybe a note from your Dr to say you are fit and healthy and a low risk pregnancy would help? I went to the South of France at 7 months pregnant and could only find two companies that would insure me as I was flying. I was fine though!

PetitFilou1 · 22/02/2008 13:04

Dizzy Grapes, grapes? They wouldn't fill up my left toe. Pass me the malt loaf!

dizzydixies · 22/02/2008 13:50

petitfliou apologies for suggesting the grapes, esp after just stuffing my face with 3 custard filled chocolate donuts in starbucks - they were mini ones in my defence not KKs but a welcome reminder of my loss

was lovely having a grown up real life child free coffee with pg friend, am now home with both kids, dh about to go to work for late shift and I'm on the after noon enjoyaball run - ah joy

Buckets · 22/02/2008 13:55

Ooh check out the Amazing Cake recipe under Inspirations on the Babes&Babies site (VG's first link.) Shall we have a bake-off ladies? If we all get the ingredients together over the weekend, we could bake Sunday. Then sit and scoff it all while chatting after the kids have gone to bed natch.
PS I too thought those boobs didn't match any size of bump, let alone one that big LOL.

Buckets · 22/02/2008 13:56

Cake recipe here in fact.

dizzydixies · 22/02/2008 14:04

I've got stuff in to make malteser tray bake this weekend but dh may not get any of it if Ireland beat Scotland at the rugby
the girls of course will be dressed in their best blue tops, remarkably the green ones have been misplaced

VintageGardenia · 22/02/2008 14:56

Oooh dizzy it's WAR!

Our whole HOUSE will have green tops on, and I may even look out my green undies!

Re. baking excellent idea.

VintageGardenia · 22/02/2008 14:58

HalfFrench I think the walking tour sounds great and at 20 weeks (esp if you already walk daily) highly doable and health-giving. I would definitely do it. It's not like Victorian times when people lay around on chaise longues eating bon-bons and waiting for their confinement.

Pregnant women can still DO things. Good for you.

SKYTVADDICT · 22/02/2008 15:30

Hello all

Had a 16 week appt with consultant yesterday and I need to decide whether to try for a vbac or have an elective c/s (on 4 August!). He is lovely and said he would make the decision for me if I wanted - me being 40 and as it will only be 15 mths since my previous c/s I think I know which route he was heading down!

I also have a lovely big yellow sticker on my notes that says "Group B Strep Alert - give intrapartum iv antibiotics"! Apparently I had swabs on 30 May 2007 (gave birth on 5 May 2007 but had a few problems for a few weeks) and it showed up then.

I did have the blood tests so I am sure I will be getting "the visit" in a couple of weeks but fingers crossed, you never know!

I can't stop eating!!

Buckets · 22/02/2008 15:57

Ooh, more time off from the schoolrun for you then Skytv! Sorry to hear about your Strep though. Have you had an elective before?

I'm hoping for another elective at 40wks (better for baby to leave them cooking) but am prepared to try a VBAC if the baby wants to come earlier. That way if I chicken out with the first contraction (quite poss) I have 'written permission' for a CSec. Not seeing consultant for another 5wks though.

dizzydixies · 22/02/2008 16:10

VG the way we're playing I doubt very much it'll be anything near to a way - probably a trouncing so all I have to remotely annoy him is the girls in their scotland rugby tops! don't ever tell him I said about the trouncing out loud though I'd deny it to the death lol

alittlebitshy · 22/02/2008 16:42

interesting. I had em c-sec with dd, and am very much veering towards wanting an elective this time. When saw the (useless) midwife, she said there was the choice, but she wasn't going to discuss it with me. I have to discuss with dr, but she said the decision is not made til 36 weeks . I hope that's not right.

Buckets explain it to me... I totally get the leaving the baby cooking thing, but if you went into labour earlier, would they just give you c-sec or would they make you try? How does this written permission thing work? What happens if you're in labour at say 38 weeks , and you chicken out.. what happnes if the theatre is all booked up?????

dizzydixies · 22/02/2008 16:46

alittlebitshy if the theatre is booked up someone waiting on an elective will be bumped so you can be seen to - thats what happened to my friend, she went in for elective and was told to come back next day as the theatre was busy 'doing' someone else - well thats what I think happens?!

am not sure how this one is going to happen for me, dd1 was hellish induction, high forcep, ripped to shreds (you get the picture) and dd2 was emcs after getting to 10cm and then nothing, stubbern wee sod couldn't come down

will no doubt discuss if with consultant once past the wait and see stage

alittlebitshy · 22/02/2008 16:55

dizzy mmm. dd was an induction. contractions started straight away, then went on for 36 hours. Got to 10cm. Was pushing, but she was just too big (though not quite as big as your dds, though I'm only 5ft2 so 9lb9 was mahoosive!) hence the emcs.

When do you next get seen to se eif you're doing ok???

dizzydixies · 22/02/2008 17:21

littlebit am in on wed at 9.30, scan first then consultant, am hoping for good things as (touch wood) bleeding seems to have tailed off (said in whiskers so as not to jinx it)

well done you on the 9lb9 - I wanted to kill the next person that told me that my body wouldn't grow a baby I couldn't deliver/I was tall enough to cope (am only 5ft6) blah blah. dd1 was actually wider than dd2 - she was ridiclious length, 59cm, so don't understand why couldn't deliver her after dd1 the sumo?!?

am sorry you had a horrible time too - makes the decisions all the harder to make

RachAndFamousNot · 22/02/2008 17:54

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted, but wanted to update and ask to be taken off the list please if the next person updating it doesn't mind. We had another scan this week after waiting 3 weeks to see whether the bladder issue that had been identified would resolve itself. It hadn't, it had got worse, and there was kidney damage. They would never work properly, and lungs would never develop, so we had to make a decision whether to terminate, or wait until the baby died naturally either before during or just after birth. We went into hospital on Wednesday to be induced and I am now no longer pregnant. We've been told it's a pure chance thing, nothing we've done or could have done could have affected this condition. After 2 miscarriages to get to 15 weeks and then terminate does feel pretty unfair to be honest. At least we know we can get past 12 weeks so all fingers crossed for next time. We're going to wait a little while though, before we try yet again.

Today I went out for the first time since delivery. An elderly man stopped me and told me to get some braces so I could stop pulling up my jeans all the time. He wasn't to know (and I do find it irritating when kids are always pulling up their jeans), but these were the only maternity clothes I had bought, I didn't want to tempt fate. And my non-maternity clothes don't stay up. But it still hurts to wear a belt. This upset me more than anything else, to be honest I did a lot of crying in the last 3 weeks but not since Wednesday. Today my breasts started leaking milk and I have found that really hard too.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Well done for getting this far. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancies, and I will be thinking of you in August - good luck for you and your partners. Rxxx
