I h=found a cold flannel pressed to your head while DH massages temples helps me also been having chronic pain for the last 2 days i aske dmy doc who said it is nothing to worry about and just the oestrogen levels in yuor body also makes me itchy all over

dizzydixies · 20/02/2008 17:37

ah no lewisham I had terrible itchy stomach problems with dd1 and was eventually prescribed anti-histamen by the consultant, stupid gp didn't know his arse from a pg one saying you couldnm't have anti-histamen whilst pg - you can just only certain ones and not in high doses - if you're itchy just slather on some nice expensive cream and check out some anti-histamen if it gets worse

Oh my catching up is going to take a while.
This is for Longwayfromhome...
Pepper-Crusted Filet Mignon

Prep: 15 minutes Total: 15 minutes

Filet mignons are often sold with a string tied around them to help keep their shape while cooking. Otherwise, tie them loosely with cotton kitchen twine yourself. (Be sure to remove strings before serving.)

Ingredients
Serves 2.

2 filet mignons, (5 to 6 ounces each, about 1 1/2 inches thick)
Coarse salt and very coarsely ground pepper
2 teaspoons olive oil

Directions
Season filets very generously on both sides with salt and pepper (especially pepper), patting in firmly.
Heat oil in a small skillet over medium-high. Cook filets until desired doneness, 3 to 5 minutes per side (depending on thickness) for medium-rare.
Remove strings from filets.

dizzydixies · 20/02/2008 20:17

TS sorry its my bad - I talk too much to anyone that'll listen

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:30

oooh, looks like I missed some good chat earlier. Honestly can't complain too much about my mum, she would drop everything to come and help out. She adores her grandkids equally, and is generally quite good fun. Asks some daft questions though.....

Now TS, you were saying about pains etc. I keep getting all manner of twinges and stitch-type pains etc. Also that funny bladder-in-a-vice type sensation, which is particularly pleasant . I'm guessing its all the stretching etc as the wee ones get bigger. I'm REALLY tempted to get a doppler but can't decide?? I tell myself I'll sell it on ebay when I've done with it but I know I will never get round to doing that!

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:31

Whew I've missed quite a bit but I'm caught up now. Dizzy don't appologize. It's great everyone gets all their junk out and tosses it around. I wish I had something to add to the M or MIL topic but my M died 11 years ago and we (DH, DD & me) are my MIL's favorites . As for my MIL's feelings I've never taken advantage of them but it's VERY OBVIOUS. Kinda makes me feel ackward at times but I can't change how she feels. I do believe it's terrible when those type feelings are played upon/taken advantage of then flaunted in the "non-favorites" face. That's just poor human skills.

Headaches.......{twilight raises both hands} some days they pop up randomly all around my head and other days they just sit on my head like a helmet of pain. It's totally hormones.

On the home front I've made an appointment for DD to see my hairstylist tomorrow to correct her hair trimming project. I sent her to preschool this morning looking like a lawnmower was her hairbrush. It's actually quite humerous.

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:33

tee hee - also got a funny from ds whilst we were watching tv yesterday evening. An advert for the new Will Ferrell film came on (no idea what it is!), but basically a woman is saying to Will "have you ever been to an orgy"
Ds pipes up "mummy, whats an Audrey?"

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:33

Doppler YES I would like one too but in the states you have to have a prescription to have one....FEDERAL LAW/BIG FINE.

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:35

{{twilight laughs}} I'll never look at another Audrey(the person) the same.

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:35

oooh thats a bit harsh TS! What kind of damage can one inflict with a doppler!!?
I remember going to a supermarket in Florida and the funniest thing was the tabacco products were under lock and key behind a grille - yet the guns and knives were out on display!!

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:43

Yes things are a bit twisted here in the states. The whole doppler issue has to do with "ultrasound" and it's unclear medical effects. Ultrasound is considered something only a medically trained professional is allowed to use.

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:47

Ahh, the world is a funny old place is it not?
What time is it there btw TS? 8.45 here and I'm off to veg on the sofa and may even have a cheeky little glass of white wine
Dh in the pub, ds fast asleep.....what to watch though? Crimewatch or 24?....

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:51

3:39PM and NOTHING'S ON. Going through DVR..prerecorded stuff. I've often wondered if your prime shows are a week behind or not...as you would be able to see a big ending then share it before those of us in the states get to watch it.

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 20:52

Oh and I'm surfing eBay looking at Liz Lange maternity clothes. DD is playing with DH's computer (i'm hoping she crashes it).

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:55

What shows are you thinking of?

I thought Lost was running at the same time in US and UK this series? I'm working my way through series one of 24 (got it on DVD for my bday). Series 2 and 3 are sitting waiting for me to open them!

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2008 20:59

Right, been on here far too long. Off to watch tv before I fall asleep!

Have a nice Thursday everyonr (for tomorrow). I will be 15 weeks tomorrow. Where the Feck did that time go!!?

TwilightSurfer · 20/02/2008 21:03

Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Brothers and Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money and Private Practice are the "main stream" shows I record then watch when I can. I can't watch things that stress me. I use to love reruns of ER but could NEVER watch it a 10PM because I couldn't fall asleep. 24 has that same affect on me. LOST....I think it comflicts with something else so I never got hooked but I'm sure I would have. I totally enjoy story lines that you have to pay attention to. If you're watching shows at 9PM then you're getting to see them 5 hours before me. Lucky lucky you.

gigglegirl · 20/02/2008 21:06

evening all - so tired can't think of anything to say so just hi and hope you're all ok!!

VintageGardenia · 21/02/2008 08:05

Hi everyone glad to see all are well (barring headaches - horrible - I have had them intermittently & one today). No news from me except nasty explodey thread veins yuk yuk yuk and one of my dogs going in for The Operation today, yuk yuk yuk for her.

AND that a peeled and sliced ripe mango is the most heavenly snack on earth.

IlanaK · 21/02/2008 08:39

I am somewhat relieved to know that other people are experiencing headaches as I was starting to get quite worried about mine. I don't normally get them, but am getting them daily now - generally they start in the afternoon and get bad by the evening. Last night I went to bed with one which I woke up with this morning. I was thinking of seeing my doctor until I read on here that some of you are getting them too. My pregnancy book (Shiela Kitzinger one) says that you should not experience any more headaches in pregnancy than you do at any other time. I was going to google "headaches in pregnancy" but then decided that if I did that, I would probably end up reading that I have a brain tumor!

Buckets · 21/02/2008 08:58

Forgot to say I dreamt about my baby the other night! It was a boy and I got to hold him and I was so chuffed. Think I'd had him under a general or had passed out on the op table as I was just coming round saying 'where's my baby?' and he was on one of those billirubin sunbed thingies at the time then they got him for me to cuddle. Woke up thinking if that's the most trouble we have I'll be happy with that . Someone had dressed him in a strange red crocheted outfit though (MIL-made no doubt LOL.)

Just added mango to my shopping list, I'm so impressionable.

libbyssister · 21/02/2008 10:08

Morning ladies.

My MIL is staying at the moment. DS might not be my own mother's favourite, my MIL thinks he's the best thing EVER (he's her only grandchild too!). We put him to bed last night and then she babysat while we went to the cinema. What a gem!

Went to see Juno (can't get away from pg stuff!) and it was really good, very funny, DH was LOL and he can be hard to please at the flicks! Anyone else seen it?

I turned down popcorn in favour of a double scoop of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey/Choc Fudge Brownie. Yum! Bye bye waistline

libbyssister · 21/02/2008 10:44

HALLELULAH!! Someone has just bought two boxes of KKs into the office!! Ha ha, goodbye waistline, backside, cheekbones...

dizzydixies · 21/02/2008 10:54
