Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 22:28

My bump is the same poppy and I'm 14wks too. I was just saying earlier that my MIL told me that I look big, I know myself, but don't want her to say it to me! Hopefully I'll get some jeans in Glasgow next Sat and can give you some advice!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 22:30

hazie am sure we'd class aberdeen as local too if you want to pop in on thread as well!

will wrack my brains for preggy shops in glasgow before next sat - am originally a weegie so should come up with something
x

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 22:34

It's sad, but I've phoned round a few of my non-maternity clothes shops and made a bit of a list of who has a matty range!! I think being preg is good for my organisational skills. This is what is probably known as the calm before the storm! I was just thinking how jealous I was of not having a local thread. Well I do, but no-one's posted on it since Oct last year! xx

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 22:40

ah come over to ours, we're not that far away!
my problem is getting pg gear that goes up to an 18, would love all the topshop stuff but anyone size 16 or over gets struck by lightning just for walking in!

felt a bit smug today going into work in my newlook matty jeans and isabella oliver wrap matty top - its lovely and such an overindulgent treat even if bought in the sale, there stuff is beeeeaaaaauuutiful

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 22:46

Isabella Oliver??? Did you disguise yourself as a 60yo woman and rob a post office today? lol xx

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 22:51

yes, yes I did but I have insider knowledge of best times to do it, shift change on a public holiday

it was a huge treat hidden on a credit card delivered when dh on early shift and along with exclamations like
'what do you mean you don't remember seeing this when I was pg with dd2, I don't know why I bother to make a bloody effort' I think I MAY have gotten away with it

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 23:00

Lol Making them feel guilty is always the best way around it! Sadly as this is my first, can't use that excuse! And since matty clothes come with extra flaps, bands and stuff, DH won't believe that new items are part of previous wardrobe! He's been lovely though, telling me not to worry what I buy cos he just wants me to be comfortable! Aww!

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 23:01

I think my pizza hates me, getting really bad indigestion! That's what happens when DH leaves me to my own devices!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 23:07

take him at his word!!!!!!! traipse round glasgow and if you can't find anything nice have wee sob, over the computer, page cunningly open at isabella oliver, you get a discount through mumsnet, and see what he says

am evil witch failing that have a scout on ebay for them!

milk for you indigestion too
x

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 23:21

Evil, but brilliant!!

Right, have sat at this computer for way too long, my bum hurts, I need to get a glass of milk, then I think it's beddy-byes for me!
Enjoy the rest of your evening/night dizzy!
Take care
xx

Buckets · 17/02/2008 10:50

For antenatal yoga stuff near you, have a look here. But just put in the first half of your postcode - I'm told it's a little oversensitive.

I've going to a pub quiz tonight to raise funds for local pre-school. Pub are doing everything, I'm bringing prizes (loads of sweets) as I've kind of organised it so if it all goes t*ts-up it's my fault. Hoping my friends and other committee members / staff / parents are going to turn up - this year's parents are a miserable lot it must be said.

TwilightSurfer · 17/02/2008 13:01

Okay here's a question for the group:
Is anyone experiencing a hardening of the belly? I guess it's kind of like a strong contraction but more in the charlie-horse nature...it tightens then just stays that way for a while. I had it happen twice. Last night was the second time. I sat down on a bench to wait for a table (we went out for dinner) and my belly just tensed up. I must have looked funny because I sat there for 10minutes massaging my belly. DD was dressed as minnie mouse so folks could have just been looking at her. The tension finally released about 30 minutes later. Is this some Braxton Hicks thing or something else??

Buckets · 17/02/2008 14:48

Think that's just your baby being big enough to get uncomfortable for you in certain positions - good sign huh?. Bit like the 'alien grapefruit' sensation you might get in the early hours when your baby's fighting for space with your full bladder. BH are only 20secs or so. They're like the end of the old Loony Tunes cartoons when the screen shrinks to a little circle (and Elmer Fudd pops out) but then unshrinks.
What is a charlie horse btw? I remember it from the Operation game but never understood it LOL.

TwilightSurfer · 17/02/2008 16:07

A Charlie Horse is a muscle spasm...the muscle knots up and doesn't release for a while. You most commonly get charlie horses at night in your legs after an extremely active day or when you run your calf will lock up almost causing you to do a face plant.

I'll have to pay attention to things and see if the baby in a bad position causes the sensation. This is across my whole belly..I didn't think the little guy would be big enough to cause this much of a disturbance.

Totally wiped out today. Got up had some chicken soup and orange juice then went back to sleep for a few more hours. I think my cold is almost over but it's exit has zapped my energy. I'll have to muster something up for yoga later today.

lewisham · 17/02/2008 19:30

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I realised that i forgot to finish my last thread. I fanyone knows of any London based maternity nurses am looking as all are v booked up trying to avoid agency and their costs.
TS colds really do wipe one out esp now take care of yourself and put feet up

poppysocks · 17/02/2008 20:46

Dizzy - thanks for the link to the local thread. I'd had a look before and couldn't find it. See you out strawberry picking!

Hazie - you'll have to let me know how you get on with the maternity jeans.

Had to work today and wore proper maternity clothes for the first time. Felt really self conscious to begin with but it didn't take long for someone to notice and say congrats, which was lovely.

I have a craving! I usually hate jelly fruit sweets - fruit gums/haribo etc. No more... Can't get enough of them! Last time it was coriander and honey. This time, McDonalds and sweeties!

Right - off to bed. Shattered from being ill last week and have a massive week coming up. At least I have the pg excuse for being tucked up so early!

libbyssister · 17/02/2008 23:36

Too late to be posting really, but excited/nervous... First scan in the morning, 9am. I'll let you know how it goes.

Night night

TwilightSurfer · 18/02/2008 00:18

Best wishes for your scan Libby. Bring us back a picture!!!

YOGA WAS GREAT!!! Such a major confidence booster!! I've been so inactive I was scared of how I would do. On the drive, I resolved myself to at least go sit and absorb the floor work BUT NO I DID IT ALL and it felt wonderful. The instructor did a wonderful job altering some standard asanas to accommodate the "BELLY". I have some "homework" as my flexibility has gone to pot plus I need to work on my upper body strength with a few old fashion push ups. Otherwise, WOOO WHOOO I feel excellent. {I'll let you know if I feel the same way in the morning.}

ElizabethCM · 18/02/2008 02:14

hello everyone, hope everyone is "blooming" in the second trimester. how did your scan go libbysister? i hope it went well. i had my first ultrasound last thursday (see attached photo ... awwwww) and it was wonderful to see the little heartbeat and the tiny little toes! the heartbeat was 158 which was dead centre of normal, a big relief because i still drink a morning espresso now and again .

am jealous of everyone that is showing! i am 13 weeks and there is not even a little bump. if it was not for the scan i would swear this was a phantom pregnancy.

ElizabethCM · 18/02/2008 08:16

oh, i don't know why my profile doesn't show. inferior computer skills i suppose

dizzydixies · 18/02/2008 09:01

Hi elizabethCM put you details and someone can add it to the list if you like - TS is brilliant at all the admin! be grateful for the wee bump, this is my 4th pg am 17wks and look bloody huge, goodness knows what am going to be like full term, wheelbarrow required for stomach no doubt

Libbysister am sending you positive thoughts RIGHTNOW as according to laptop its preciesly 9am - good luck!

TS sounds brilliant, am off to try and find my local one too

wrap up warm to day everyone, blooming freezing up here
xx

dizzydixies · 18/02/2008 09:13

HAZIE get yourself onto ebay - 2 pages of lovely Isabella Oliver gear at lovely prices x

Pinchypants · 18/02/2008 10:41

Morning girlies,
Libby, good luck with scan today.

I'm getting hardening moments in my tum now as well (14 weeks) and sure I can feel baba flipping over from time to time - all happening much earlier than last time, and yup, I look pg already too. Was in normal clothes being a bridesmaid at my sis' wedding at 16 weeks last time round - no chance with this one! Am desperate for some mat jeans that fit properly, too - serious muffin top and discomfort with my normal ones now. Must get bag of mat clothes down from the loft but remember hating every single item by the time DD appeared, so will have to treat myself to a couple of tops and bottoms at some point soon. I LOVE Isabelle Oliver stuff, it all fits so perfectly, wish it was just a tiny bit cheaper...

Have a lovely day and catch up with you all soon.

Pinchy xx

TwilightSurfer · 18/02/2008 11:21

Morning. Woke at 3am and DID NOT want to move...arms very sore. Oddly, now at 6am, I'm not sore. Either I was dreaming or my body sorted it all out. So absolutely ready for more yoga!!

Good news Elizabeth. As for your picture showing you probably need to go select the little "not obvious" button at the bottom of your profile set up page that says something like allow "public to see this".

Have devoured two pieces of toast and TWO glasses of orange juice. Fingers crossed I don't see it again in a few moments whilst in the shower.

Wishing everyone a spectacular day!!!

PetitFilou1 · 18/02/2008 12:01

Hello all
Someone cheer me up please as feeling very down. Had flu all last week, still feel exhausted. Have had horrible rows with dh who is trying to finish his MD but had to take up the reins for me as I was feeling too ill. Had ds's 4th birthday party on Sunday which was great but made me feel stressed out. Scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous this time

Just feeling sorry for myself really. Hope you are all ok though!
