Welcome to the second trimester

Whew! I thought everyone had left the thread too. Glad you're all still here. Took DD birthday present shopping at the BIG MALL today. She selected a pink polka-dot Minnie Mouse costume dress and ears to match. Not exactly what I had in mind but she's happy so all's well. Also purchased my favorite snack and devoured it right in front of the shop....a hot, salty, hand-made PRETZEL. OMG, to me, there is nothing better on the planet. Forgive me for saying Dizzy but these beat out your "unmentionable snack" 10 to 1!! I say this without bias as DH brought 3 dozen of said snack items home on Valentine's Day in a true act of affection (or he was trying to put me into a sugar coma). Any body else LOVE hand-made pretzels?!?

Stillhere, great news!!

IlanaK I think I'm starting to enjoy food again too. It sorta comes and goes but I've started cooking again so that MUST be a good sign. MS seems to be gone today too.

I think we're all coming out of the 1st trimester fog. I too did some prettying-up today. I shaved my legs for the first time in.........too long. SOOOOOO glad I purchased new razors because an old one would have never had made it .

Prenatal yoga starts tomorrow. It's during what is normally my nap time so we'll see how it goes. I'll keep you posted.

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 19:50

TS rofl laughing at leg shaving , I did mine yesterday too and was literally a dizzydixies from bending over in the shower for so long, knicked one of dh's serious men blades to do it too as lets say it was miraculous nothing short of a lawnmover did the job.

am currently scouting for prenatal yoga round about here too but so far nothing, not sure if I would be allowed anyway as GP reiterated feet up rest as much as possible yesterday

pretzels sound fab but your dh sounds better, please tell him how much I love him lol

IlanaK · 16/02/2008 19:59

I love those pretzels too. I used to live in the US and remember them well. You can get them a few places over here, but its just not the same.

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 20:06

Hey girls, hope everyone is good today. Nothing much happening here, just sitting in my jammies enjoying the peace and quiet - DH has gone down to Manchester to watch the football. Thankfully Man U won so he'll be very cheery when he comes home and won't be grumpy the rest of the weekend! Glad I'm by myself actually as I took the dog for an hour long walk round the woods near our house today so feeling a bit knackered now!

Not heard anything else about my friend yet dizzy. Keeping my fingers crossed for her. at the woman in yr work! How hard would it have been for her to even acknowledge that yr preg or ask how you are? Some people have no idea. I keep thinking back to things that I've said to preg friends, hoping that I've not said anything to offend anyone, 'cos I've felt constantly offended sinceI got preg! That reminds me, (prepare yrself for a big rant!!!) MIL said to me last nite, 'yr looking big tonight'. I said back to her 'I've just eaten a 3 course meal'. She then said 'but, still'. FGS!!! Would a compliment hurt anyone???? Even a lie would be fine! How are you feeling anyway dizzy? When is it that you have to go back to the hospital?

Yay to stillhere! Glad to hear everything is fine and that yr feeling happier. Hope everything continues to go smoothly for you.

xx

TwilightSurfer · 16/02/2008 20:33

I truly need a nap but feel I MUST push on to prepare my body for not napping tomorrow. Maybe I'll even sleep better tonight for it. I've been up at all hours lately. I'm also on my THIRD pretzel. THAT CAN'T BE GOOD but it is the LAST one in the bag.....

Hazie I've decided your MIL has no filter and therefor just lets anything tumble out of her mouth. I feel bad for folks like that because it's almost like a mental disorder; they just don't THINK before they SPEAK. Don't let it get you...we are suppose to start looking about bit rounded at this point but I too would prefer NOT to be TOLD that FACT to my face. Next time just say, "true, I am and I have a good reason...WHAT'S YOURS?"

Dizzy I considered a lawnmower for my legs but in this condition the heavy lifting would have been a no-no. LOL!! It was really scary but I didn't knick myself once. The pretty leg fairy must have been sitting on my shoulder the whole time. I wore crop pants and flip-flops today to show off my accomplishment.

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 20:37

hazie she's just a jealous old trout who has done nothing but upset the balance on the whole shift with her pettyminded bitter mood swings, she's all out of joint because we all mentioned it in our appraisals when asked how shift morale was and she got hauled up for it. Its shite how one person can influence the whole trip though, everyone else was lovely and filled dd1 up with biscuits/sweets and pennies, needless to say she can't understand why I'm not keen to go to work lol

am back at hosp on 27th for another scan as long as nothing happens inbetween. the bleeding has tailed off again and I think am most frustrated as am having to sit on lardy backside to prevent something from happening rather than fix something that has - does that make sense, I feel like a bit of a fraud. Anyway, am managing to feed my ever increasing MN habit and ignore my college work beautifully lol

right, as we've been mentioning kk (who started that ) and pretzels can I throw in my desire for a hot belgian waffle/chocolate sauce and whipped cream?!?!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 20:41

hazie also meant to say your mil has the same blurtitis as my mother, ignore her

TS maybe we should make a pact for bigger bumps arriving, I'll do yours if you do mine am very jealous of your flipflopping, I can't WAIT till its that time here unfortunately north east scotland in feb is not the place for cropped troos and flipps

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 20:56

TS was PMSL at how I should respond to MIL - classic! I'm also sharing dizzy's at your cropped trousers and flip-flops! The only flipping happening around here is me going on about how 'flipping' cold it is here! I walked the dog today with a t-shirt, cardigan, fleece and a waterproof jacket on top and was still shivering!!

I'm glad yr feeling frustrated rather than worried now dizzy, that's progress! Don't worry about feeling a fraud, just make the most of the sitting around on MN! My DH has started to notice my addiction to this place! It could have been a hint when I moaned about being tired, but still came on here to update myself on what's been happening with everyone!

P.S. See you and your blimmin' kk and waffles with chocolate and cream! I just polished off a pizza with garlic bread (all to myself) and now you've made my belly rumble! Shame on you!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:00

sorry

dizzy passes round redvelvet cupcakes to everyone but makes them sign disclaimer form first before eating them

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:04

Yummy, where do I sign?!

Oh talking about my belly...! I've started to get that linea nigra thing on my tummy under my belly button! The other preg girl in my office is totally jealous 'cos she wanted one - I have no idea why tho! She's threatened to draw it on herself!! (We are a little under pressure at the mo so that could be it!!) xx

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:07

I haven't seen my bellybutton since before dd1 was born, will ask dh if I have it though

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:09

Mine is going to pop, I just know it! Said preg colleague is squeamish about belly buttons popping out so I'm willing mine to go just to freak people out! Maybe a few of your cupcakes will help...

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:14
dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:15

meant to say passes haziesnowyowl more cupcakes - serves me right for being a smart arse

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:21

Yum, did you make these yourself?

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:29

dd1 and I did them this moring, receipe from mumsnet receipe page. we had a red velvet christening cake for dd2 so thought would give them a whirl. took me hours to straighten up the kitchen after all her 'help'

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:30

I notice you said you'd bought matty jeans from New Look earlier. Yr so lucky, I tried on loads of pairs there but I have a weird shape so the crotch bit either hangs around my knees or the waistband doubles as a bra! I got a good pair from Mothercare but am stuck in jammies now until they come out of the wash! Am dragging a friend down to Glasgow with me next week for a trail around the shops there, as Aberdeen has no selection really, unless I fancy size 22 jeans from H&M that is!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:32

I have to wear a belt with them as they're not great. if you're going to glasgow you could try mamas and papas at the forge? have you had a look online? laredoute and vertbaudet do some nice stuff

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:32

Aw, yr dd sounds like me! I have to use everything in my cupboard when baking and don't worry about the mess until I can't move for plates, trays, etc! How will I cope with a child who's likely to be the same?! They sound really posh by the way, the cupcakes I mean.

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:34

Oopsie, I'm getting all confused now - I keep crossing posts! I've tried to buy a few things from Next online but have had to return them as I have the same problem. I'm really bad with jeans and trousers, I have to try on a million pairs before I settle on the first pair I try on!

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:36

lol - why don't you come over to the bar and joing us there? there are a few of us having a blether they might have some matty clothes suggestions?

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 21:37

oh sorry

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1375/479481?stamp=080216213409

HazieAndBaby · 16/02/2008 21:38

Thanks dizzy!

poppysocks · 16/02/2008 22:08

Evening all! I'm having maternity jeans issues too. The only ones I have from last time have just a low elastic waist band thing that drove me mad last time and is doing so again, so far, this time. At the moment they are so low I spend the whole time pulling them up. Last time they then fitted ok for about a week and then fell down again below the bump. Anyway, went to look for others today and either found them with the same problem or the H&M ones with the big bit for the bump and it fitted snugly now.

I just CANNOT believe how big my bump is. Only 14 weeks tomorrow and I look properly properly pregnant. I reckon I'm the size I was at about 20 weeks last time. Honestly, if I hadn't made them check so much at my scan I would be sure there was another one hiding or my dates are all wrong. I've even had a few kicks. What is going on???

Dizzy - my turn to go over to your work and help out?! How mean not to be a. excited and congratulatory b.sympathetic to your complications. Thank goodness for everyone else.

dizzydixies · 16/02/2008 22:23

hi poppy thanks for offer but think you'd have to wait on her in the car park, am not sure police HQ is the place to be seen beating people up lol

have you come over to the dundee/local thread - we're planning a mass strawberry tart pregnant exodus to cairnie farm at somepoint
