Welcome to the second trimester

TwilightSurfer · 14/02/2008 18:48

You ladies had high end camping accommodations. I've camped in caves, in areas without ANY bathroom facilities and in locations where 5 miles of hiking were required. We, of course, had many camping trips to "camp grounds" where there were prebuilt tents. But all in all we just plainly did A LOT of camping, outdoorsy activities which fit my personality perfectly!!

Considering sending DH over to Krispy Kreme before he comes home tonight in tribute to Valentines Day and to our thread topic of late. I'm very interested to see if they have heart shaped donuts. I'm a simply girl though and prefer the standard glazed donut best (on a crazy day I like choc glazed).

dancerandprancer · 14/02/2008 19:01

Had scan today, at last. Everything was fine and saw the tiny heart beat so feel relieved now. Cant believe am a third of the way already.

TwilightSurfer · 14/02/2008 19:05

DH has agreed to run by Krispy Kreme on his way home for me...as a Valentine treat. I'll let you know more later.......

TwilightSurfer · 14/02/2008 19:05

Good Good Dancer!!

poppysocks · 14/02/2008 19:37

Gigglegirl - our DD is Madeleine. I know what you mean about the connotations. I did find myself getting particularly upset about the case at the time because she had the same name as my little girl - felt closer to home somehow.

I think it would be so sad if the name fell out of use. For us it was the perfect balance of not unknown but not too popular and Maddy is a lovely shortened form and then she's got a more seroius name if she decides to be a newsreader/nuclear physicist.

Having said that, we decided on the name for this LO last night. Both girl and boy names are in the top 10 in England (but neither is for Scotland - a small consolation). Decided that I don't care - we love both names and at least our other LO has a more unusual name, so proves that we do have some imagination!

Still feeling rubbish but went into work today as I had stuff I really really had to do. Was rewarded by an exceptionally snappy boss and a flood of tears that I couldn't stop. Other lovely colleagues rallied around, but not that way it should be. DH now ill too so poor DD spending a lot of time with CBeebies. Not going in tomorrow and SO hope I'll start feeling better soon.

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 20:39

yipyipyipee baby dancer - lovely news

TS am very jealous, we're down to 2 and as dh's bottom behaving himself today so fear I may have to share them.

poppy where on earth do you work?!? I am close enough to come over and give your shitey boss a good going over - should have been grateful you went in, complete trout from hell. don't you worry about me getting lifted, will tell hopefully female judge its my hormones and walk out of court with a slap on wrists - just you let me know where and when. by the way am seriously impressed with choosing names already, this is a minefield am going to have to cross with dh at somepoint and not looking forward to it again lol

penny no need to be showing off with the walking past everyday - be careful who you tell incase you're spending most of your day in the post office!!

petitfilou sorry you're not feeling any better - am trying not to stalk you today as well incase it makes you feel worse

hazie I can only apologise for what I think was a sugar induced bit of a melodramatic drama queen moment, have indeed decided not to divorce dh over eating one of the beloved kk and give him the benefit of the doubt, this time

to everyone else I apologise for starting the krispy kreame obsession on the thread and promise once my last two have been eaten I shall no longer mention then and strike down anyone else that does

HazieAndBaby · 14/02/2008 21:02

Yay dancerandprancer, so gald to hear about your scan news! I still haven't gotten over the feeling of seeing my baby's heartbeat on the screen for the first time, hope I'll remember it forever. Did they change your due date or anything?

Hey dizzy, don't worry about it, I was PMSL at the time (sorry, that wasn't very sympathetic to your plight thinking about it now!). Glad everything in the dizzy household is calmer now! I tried to explain to DH what I was laughing about but he just looked at me a bit funny - that happens a lot actually, and it's not just him!

I think my crying fits the last few weeks have transformed into fits of hilarity actually - not very helpful when your ab muscles are stretching and are a bit sore! I crack up at everything to the point where tears roll down my face! Hopefully this calms down a bit after baby is born, don't fancy all this laughing with weak pelvic floor muscles!! xx

CaptainCaveman · 14/02/2008 21:15

Fabbo news DANCERANDPRANCER . Its just great to see your lo with heart beating away!

PMSL @ Hitler - hmm, now there's a name I hadn't thought of. Adolf Self has a slight jauntiness about it wouldn't you say?

Deffo feeling less nauseous, coming in waves rather than being constant. Tiredness during the day has really lifted too - Praise God

Was reading ds his bedtime stories and he said "I promise not to call you fat, mummy"
Me; "but I'm not fat"
He looked at me sideways and said "no thats right, you are just having a baby".
I didn't know 3 year olds could be soooooo sarcastic!!

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:15

evening ladies, pretty good day today (although no card!!) Think he felt guilty as I then got an email with 88 reasons why he loved me! Went to extended toddler group, which I run, today (with all the older kids) and we did playdough, salt dough lovebugs, tissue paper valentines hearts had an indoor picnic and sang loads of songs when I was a brownie and a cub leader!! So many memories. Can't wait til my DD1 is 5 and can join Rainbows although we are having so many issues with little bi**s at school I need to find a really nice group for her! Don't really know how to resolve the situation with them so just encouraging her to play with other friends too. If I work anymore tonight my head is going to crash into the computer! Am going to go and make a cup of tea, have a bath and then watch ER - that's the plan - never seem to get there. very proud of myself today though as I booked the hair appointment for next week that I should have had in December!!

CaptainCaveman · 14/02/2008 21:17

Did I mention that it is my birthday tomorrow?

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:17

hazie my dh thinks I have lost it completely on the computer these days as some of the threads have had me in pain been laughing so hard. there is one about funniest moments during childbirth/ one about terrible things you've said to your kids and both of those nearly sent me over the edge.... if you're even in need of more hilarity I can highly recommend them!

very sweet of you to think that things could ever be calm in this house - never going to happen certainly not with me at the helm!

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:18

CC - that made me laugh - My DS1 (who will be three in March) says in his prayers every night - please let the baby come tomorrow to which I say it's not big enough and he then frowns, and looks at my stomach, arches his eyebrows and does that you're kidding look!

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:19

oooh dizzy put links to those threads there are times when I feel that laughing til I cry is the only way forward - mind you my three seem to make it happen daily - wither that or they just make me cry!!!!

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:21

CC happy birthday

CaptainCaveman · 14/02/2008 21:24

[sob] [sob] all I want for my birthday is a krispy kreme donut....

some bugger in Nottingham HAS to sell them! If not I will start my own bloody franchise.

Right, I'm off to eat cake.....

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:26

sadly dizzy it seems so - my DD1 is still 4 - she's a July baby and comes home regularly to say nobody would play with her - initially I thought it was just something they all saud til one of my friends sons said to her - I won't play with x and y as they are so horrible to Isobel - and he is a total sweetie. Then found out these three girls had a 'target' to be nice to my DD! and then have over half term DH and I witnessed it first hand at a birthday party and playground. We see two of the families outside of school as we only live in a smallish village and all go to the same church but they just seem to laugh about it. My two best friends who have boys in the same class and are in the same group of friends are incensed and ready to strike these girls down!! Think my boys will also be ready to fight espec DS2 aged 19mths - so we have an army behind us - just not nice!

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:27

Happy Birthday CC - create a charity - you can then buy donughts at a very cheap price meaning worth the drive to the nearest - only prob is min order is 10 dozen!! maybe we should all get together and get this obsession cured!

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:28

anyone noticed I'm still here - no cup of tea and no bath - I am so rubbish at making myself stop!

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:31

and

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1375/475652

fingers crossed this works as I don't know how to do links lol

can't find the funniest one but will keep looking

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:34

giggle am distraught at the very thought of it, my DD1 is also 4 and a July baby and she certainly has her favourites at nursery to play with but I would tear strips off her if she behaved like those girls incidently she is an Isabella known as Ella) I can't stand to see how mean kids can be or seeing them playing alone watching others. am going to have to think about this somemore, its a shame you don't like nearer I think our kids sound like they're cut from same cloth!

poppysocks · 14/02/2008 21:34

Thanks for the sympathy Dizzy. I work in the same place as most in this wee town. Usually great, just feel so rough, tired and hormonal at the moment. Looks like the Fife battle is being won on the other thread though - esp. the NE. Hooray!

Great news on the scan Dancer.

No Valentine's happenings here. The lovely meal I'd planned to cook is sitting in the fridge unprepared and DH is already tucked up in bed. I'm just about to follow him.

Happy Birthday in 2 and a half hours to CC! LOL at your DS.

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:40

ahh thanks dizzy - my Isobel is a lamb most of the time although quite funny and has her bosy moments but having seen her this week she often plays alonne. I was at playground when these girls started calling ne of my firends sons in same class poo poo head over and over again. I was busy with DS2 and when I eventually got over Issy had joined in so she could be part of it. All the Mums were there and I was furious with Issy, made her apologise, she lost a penny out of her jar and had a really good talking to about being mean. All right I think and have never seen her like that before but.... she was the only one to get told off, the only one to apologise and all the other Mums were staring at me as if I had the wort behaved child there depsite there three being the ones that had been at it for about 45mins! One of them actually came up to me kauging and said oohhhh girls, what crazy dynamics they have, we just have to leave them to it and laugh!

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:44

giggle I hate mean kids and I just hope am doing everything right to make sure she isn't a meany. She's very definately bossy and confident in some circumstances but as you say, you just have to leave them, hope for the best, be responsible enough to teach them well and laugh

gigglegirl · 14/02/2008 21:44

right he's put that footie on - that's it I'm off for cup of tea and some choc in bed and then I might manage to stay awake to at least here the ER music as I drift off!
Night to all.
Thanks dizy - helps to know I am not just a mad parent who thinks my daughter is being picked on - smacks of bullying to me but think they are a bit young to be doing it intentionally, I hope.

dizzydixies · 14/02/2008 21:46

poppy I really hope you feel better tomorrow and offer of beating up your boss always stands, as I told giggle dd2 is getting a good old slapping action going so we could tag team them!
remember and join the dundee and surrounding area thread too - lots of good posts of where to go etc

giggle am distraugh I can't find the thread of terrible things peopl have said to their kids as it was priceless - should be printed as a cure for depression - will maybe ask those in the know how to get it bumped back up?
