ttsskk.... egg... ... flirting?? know what you mean tho', first thing anyone does on facebook is nosey round their exes, surely?

well, i am declaring the 24th feb as the quiestest day ever on a feb thread. even after the jaysthird//princessllama early morning rush. jay - i missed you by about ten minutes... was up nursing my hurting head and waiting for the latest paracetomol to kick in. luckily the pain seems to have subsided in last couple of hours.

no news here - 'cept a funny extract from an email from my SIL. she had her first before xmas and sent me a lovely bag full of new baby necessities eg stuff for colic, nappy disposal bags... lovely lovely stuff and lots of thought gone into it. got a couple of accompanying emails listing what to do with what. alongside the v useful info, there were a couple of moments when i had to smile... including letting me know that you should always change a nappy after the baby has poo'd!

omg- its monday again!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok, we have had good weekend, but tired now!!!!

Tallulah1978 · 25/02/2008 08:59

Hi all - thanks for your messages - they've made me feel much better. Well, when DP came home on Sat night I remained calm and acted as though nothing was wrong as I felt a bit irrational and needed to mull things over. Woke up on Sun feeling much better about things, and was stragenly in the best of moods and he was much cheerier and loving and we had a lovely day yesterday. I thought about things and thought that perhaps it was just curiousity that led him to look HER up on Facebook, it's just it took such a long time to get her out of my system and to suddenly to see her name appear was like a thunderbolt, esp. in current state. You know, she isn't just an Ex, she's my nemesis and I wouldn't care about any other ex-GF being looked up (incidentally he has) but I just thought he would know well enough that of all the people in the world he shouldn't have been looking at her if there was even the slightest chance I would find out he knows how hurt I would be silly man. It's taken a long time to get her out of my head, I just hope she's out of his.

So, will be leaving it for now and concentrating on whats important. At least my radar is up and should anything else fishy arise questions wil be asked!

Well, was due date yesterday and other than some really quite strong tightenings and low down pains later in the afternoon, absolutely nothing. Was woken about 5am with tightenings and the most intense lower back pain which radiated down my legs and a headache akin to one which I would associate with half a bottle of Jack Daniels but nothing yet. Hopefully all these pains are leading up to things starting soon.

Seen DP off to work, had cereal, cuppa and two paracetamol and off to get myself back under my duvet for a couple of hours, my head is killing me.

Thanks again ladies, for helping me to put things into perspective. All that matters at the moment is my baby and I can't wait to meet LO - I can'elieve how close it is now!!!!!

Sending labour vibes to all stil waiting to hatch xxx

beansprout · 25/02/2008 10:47

Glad you are feeling better Tallulah. Only you can be the best judge of his action but, along with Egg, I have been curious before now (on Friends Reunited, am not up-to-date enough to mooch around Facebook!!) and I love dh to bits, so it doesn't necessarily mean much.

Have just had another night of 2 hourly wakings - mantra today is, "it's a growth spurt, this too shall pass", repeat ad nauseam. I don't seem to be establishing any sort of routine here for naps etc but keep telling myself it's early days. Could someone else tell me that too please?!!

Lucy - I had my first days with 2 kids last week, , how are you getting on?

How is everyone else?

leesmum · 25/02/2008 11:34

Tallulah i too have had a good old nosey round facebook and friends reunited for ex's just purely out of curiosity, and there's a good reason why we call them ex's because for whatever reason we aren't with them anymore
i adore my Dp and am not interested in anyone else but i think human nature just makes your mind wander sometimes.

Why not try and have a nice evening out together before baby comes so you can remind each other how much you mean to oneanother.xx

beansprout james is now 5 weeks and we are just getting into a regular 3 hr routine, he is really good at night but is starting to spend a little more time awake in the evenings, it wont take long for your lo to settle down i'm sure

pobletsmum how's the contractions going? hopefully you're progressing and you wont have to wait much longerxxx

i'm presuming that lovemymum has had her lo by now, hope it went well

Has anyone heard of ladle or mini?

Tyaca what a lovely thing for your sil to do for you and yes if you don't change them after a poo it ends up all up their back!!!

OneHandedTypist · 25/02/2008 12:46

A saluatory lesson for you all:

9 days post-partum. Me delightedly to DH, coz I am well fed up of maternity wear: "Look! I can fit back in my fat jeans now!"

"Do you hear that everybody?" calls out DH to the kids. "Mummy's only fat now!"

I was asking for it, really, wasn't I?

Jo9977 · 25/02/2008 13:24

LOL OHT - yep, you asked for that one!!

Really hope things go better for you Tallulah and that DP says some right things that make you feel better. It's so hard to distinguish between hormones, insecurity and founded suspicion isn't it? Looks like you've taken the right course of action for the moment anyway, cos as everyone else is saying, you have much more important issues on your mind!!

And hopefully when LO arrives, you'll both be so bowled over by him/her that everything else fades into nothing. Thinking of you

Is anyone else attempting the Gina Ford routines? We are, kind of, with a lot of flexibility which I'm led to believe is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard! You should either follow them or not but hey ho! We're pretty much managing 3-4 hourly feeds though so I'm not too bothered at the moment.

Just thought I'd update my details whilst my wee angel is sound asleep!! Loving life as a mummy - greatly helped by the fact that Zoe is such a contented wee soul

Lucyand2 · 25/02/2008 14:48

Beansprout-Coping so far (It's only been a day though) DD1 has had so much attention these last few weeks that I think she's bored with just me. We popped out into the garden for a quick bit of football but I can't really go out properly yet until my stomach muscles are looked at as my buggy is too heavy for me. I really need to master my sling!
DD2's belly button started leaking AGAIN after me thinking it was fine so she's out of her lovely cloth nappies again (on the plus side it's less laundry)

Tallulah - I must admit to looking up my exes out of curiousity, I'm even friends with my DP's ex on facebook (he won't have anything to do with her and thinks I'm mad)
I'm perfectly happy with DP and I guess I just wanted to see what they're up to.

princessllama · 25/02/2008 15:00

Jo we did 'she who not sure whether can be named now' routines with dd. it was out of desperation as nothing was working. have to say i think it was the last straw for trying to bf and felt permanently like was doing the wrong thing. i look back and wish i'd politely refused the book when offered it by my well meaning neighbour. but everyone's different and threads on this topic run for years.
tallula glad things are going better. thought egg's advice really sound, read it and wished i'd thought to say all those things. also, after reading what the rest of you said re facebook, couldn't resist going on myself to look at what the ex's are up to can't believe never did it before! would have been fascinating if any of them had been on there.
dd with child minder so am off to have eyelashes dyed again as has started to fade and want a treat, followed by coffee eclair and reading todays papers-am really looking forward to it-old saddo that i've become.
i had 3 cadburys creme eggs yesterday, delicious, the baby obviously needs them, will have to find more. don't think they're going to be worrying about the lack of weight gain at dr's tomorrow.

violeta · 25/02/2008 15:07

I got woken up at half four this morning with contractions! And since then they've been about 10-15 mins apart, lasting about 20-30 secs. I know I've probably got a while to go but it's all exciting!

OneHandedTypist · 25/02/2008 16:39

Thay's how my labour went, violeta, baby born 23 hrs after the 4am wakeup. Hope it all goes well 4 u.

alkar · 25/02/2008 16:59

Its our first day alone today and I feel relieved that no-one is calling round and I can get everything done at home (and catch up with everyones posts). I have another 2.5 weeks til I can officially drive again but I may go to the doctors for the all clear this week, depends how much I want to get out. LO is 25 days old now and spent yesterday constantly feeding, everytime I tried to have a nap DH would appear with him saying he's hungry again. Gave him a dummy last night which got him off to sleep but havent tried it again yet today.

Congratulations to Widget, Sally, bluedomino and Sherida (love the yawning picture)

Beansprout agree with you on the white noise, if I need 5 minutes I put my hairdryer on, works a treat!

Jo - I have tried to follow Gina Ford but there is no waking LO for his 4 hourly feeds so I figure I'll just let him tell me when he's hungry.

Tallulah, sorry to hear things aren't the best with your DP, how are things today?

Good luck Violeta....

mitfordsisters · 25/02/2008 17:58

v funny onehandedtypist about the fat jeans!

all you busy mums will hate me for saying it, but i'm desperate for something to do. i'm sensitive to every little tummy twinge so keen am i for this baby - now 40 +11. Went for acupuncture today and some of the points were quite sensitive and felt a bit spaced out on tube home, but still no baby; sat here eating biscuits morosely

booked in for induction at st thomases tomorrow

way to go violeta - hope you have a little baby in your arms very soon!

gingermumi · 25/02/2008 17:59

Good luck violeta, hope all goes well.

Tallulah - In my experience these things have a habit of rearing their ugly head every now and then, you must talk about it and share your fears and concerns, if (big, big 'if') you have anything to worry about you need to talk. sounds like you're sorting things anyway, hope it all goes well hun.

Saw gp for post-natal check, all ok but i might have any infection in my fanjo TMI i know, had to have smear and swab, (lovely) and ds has been referred to specialist as he still has jaundice and may be having minor fits Feeling ok but want to see peadiatrician aap to make sure all ok.

princessllama · 25/02/2008 18:41

good luck violeta hope it keeps going and the baby comes soon.
bessie and lovemymum must have had their babies by now hopefully? hope they're ok. well done for 1st day on own alkar. must feel like a big hurdle.
mitfordsisters crossing my fingers that tonights the night. if not hope st t goes well tomorrow-i was induced 1st time round. it takes way longer than you'd think-had to send out for supplies of clean clothing (and warm clothes for the walks round the block to get things going between induction sessions). 11 days over you must feel really insane by now.
if i go over by 11 days dh will be going insane as he works in politics and is normally flat out for the budget (or is it Budget? no idea.) apparently that's conveniently going to be begining of march-typical! will defo be drawing line at blackberry in delivery room-may have to issue dire threats re said phone and birthing pool.
gingermumi bad bad luck. not good for moral to have to wait to find out if have infection. really worrying re lo. i hope it turns out to be nothing, really got fingers crossed for you.

Jo9977 · 25/02/2008 19:24

All the best for tonight violeta

That's rotten ginger! Hope everything clears up for you and the LO.

Thanks for comments re routines - makes me feel a little better that I'm not just rubbish and actually, it is possible to raise a child differently...just that one of my best friends is using it and it's working for her...I'm just not as disciplined...is that a good or bad thing??

Don't know if I posted this story from our hospital stay - soz if I had!

We changed Daniel during one of the visiting times and I sent DH home with the dirty sleepsuit...including the security tag that had fallen off his ankle. Poor DH got chased down the corridors and monitored on all the CCTV's while setting off all the alarms as he went (he thought the bell just meant end of visiting hours!!). Glad to know our hospital's security system works!!

cosima · 25/02/2008 20:00

violeta - I know its exciting but my labour went on a long time without progressing beyond 10-15 mins apart. I was absolutely exhausted by the time it happened. Paracetamol do work and get some sleep. Good luck.

Hi to everybody hope you are all doing well.

ayrshirelolo · 25/02/2008 20:33

Evening ladies!! I've updated my details, and have managed to get 5 mins to post a quickie just to say hello! Tallulah, just what everyone has said, curiosity doesn't necessarily make him a cheating f#ckwit and you need to concentrate on you and lo right now!
Violeta hope things go ok friend! rest while you can, it's not called labour for nothing!
Tyaca, that's lovely of your sil.... very thoughful and a hell of a lot more useful than a silver birth certificate holder or something equally strange!
Jo, i'm all for routines, but am also one of these people that thinks flexibility is good too.... have never followed anyone's plan but pick up good ideas from everywhere! Best tip a friend gave me when dd1 was born was about night feeding, don't talk, don't cuddle, don't make eye contact, only change nappy if dirty and don't switch bright light on.. sounds harsh, but it means when baby is ready to drop a feed they drop the middle of the night one and seem to quickly learn difference between night and day. It worked for me and loads of my friends and i'm already kind of doing it with Alex (although you can't not cuddle a newborn!) But hey, you find what works for you, not anyone else!
Beansprout, as someone wise once said, if you can get to the end of the week and everyone is still alive, sort of fed and clean and not to miserable then that's a minor miracle just now!! as you know it gets a hell of a lot better after the first couple of months! anyway, how the hell can you get a baby to have naps according to a timetable......? alex can't tell the time yet, event though she is clever!!
Anyway, need to go and feed the little un and get some sleep.... ps.. hope someone has a baby tomorrow.... it's a very good birthday, i should know! I'm going to be 37(eeeeeek! )love to all, lolo x

Hello all!

LOL about the fat jeans comment...I tried (shouldn't have) to fit into my fat jeans, and couldn't do up the button. What does that make me? I'm sick of my maternity clothes, can't fit into my normal clothes, and refuse to cave in and buy non-maternity clothes that fit. How depressing!

Jo, routine worked a treat for me with DS1. I'm slowly trying to shape DS2 into a routine, but he's more "difficult" to fit into the routine than DS1. I'm one of those people who need structure, and a lack of routine makes me have heart palpitations. If you are personally not comfortable with routines, don't try to put your child on one. It is a bit of hard work to get the baby on the routines, and one has to really want it to perservere.

Good luck violeta and mitfordsisters.

Things are going well, finally, with breastfeeding and expressing. Baby is doing marathon poos (once he does 1 poo and I change his nappy, he immediately does another one. Usually he does them in 3s!). I'm tempted to wait a bit to change him, but I know that the one time I do, he'll get a nasty case of nappy rash! He has also started to posset up quite a bit. I saw a thread about someone else whose baby started to posset up a significant amount at 3 weeks...anyone else experience this? All of my clothes and bedsheets are covered in regurgitated milk, and I permanently smell of sour yoghurt. Still, I'm happy that feeding is going smoothly, and welcome the posseting up because it means that he IS getting enough milk.

Looking forward to hearing about more hatches!

pobletsmum · 25/02/2008 21:46

My baby finally arrived! Contractions finally stepped up a gear during saturday night, and our lovely daughter was born lunchtime yesterday, 8lb12. It didn't quite go according to plan, but we both came out of it safely, and I'm just relieved it's all over. She hasn't got a name yet.

Will be back soon.

princessllama · 25/02/2008 22:11

congratulations pobletsmum. looking forward to name and the details

Morning all - have been having contractions since 1am, every ten minutes. Had a cuppa, two paracetamol and am about to get in bath - know I probably have a way to go yet, but it's very exciting. oooooo - can feel another one brewing.

God, the relief when it stops is bliss isn't? If this is what its like in the beginning I am going to be such a wimp and they're going to have give me everything they've got! Well, let's hope they keep coming........will keep you updated when i can.

And thanks for all the support re: suspected infidelity; it all seems incredibly juvenile and silly right now. Read my posts back from Saturday night and I sound like a right bunnyboiler.

Hi everyone:

Quick update:
I came home Monday afternoon (yesterday) after being admitted for induction at 39 weeks due to borderline BP.
1 pessary Friday night, 1 Saturday afternoon.
1 sweep Friday night, 1 sweep Saturday afternoon.
Monday 6.30 am. Only 2 cm dilated and water intact. Minor contractions.
Mother and baby ok.
Spoke to our friend (consultant obs), who said no rush to carry on with induction as mother and baby both ok and ask to delay breaking waters.
Monday am: We spoke to consultant at Royal Free to delay breaking waters.
He said he would let me go home as long as I attend day assessment unit for daily monitoring and go back on Friday to be re-induced.
I stress that every case is different and what happened to me is VERY much the exception to the rule.
Very surprised he discharged me but very happy to be home (have done 2 loads of washing!).
Had a brownish show yesterday, clear waters now leaking. Minor contractions.
Going back to hospital very soon with mum to be monitored, so hopefully some good news soon.
