LOVELY birth story lolo. glad it was as you wanted!!! also pleased the blood losswas ok!!!!

were off to register Rosie's birth thismorning! how exciting,

Hope all is well for you guys!!!

good luck to you still waiting

widgetsmummy · 13/02/2008 11:39

lolo - it is a great birth story, worth all that waiting for! congrats!

having a little bored day today, could do ironing, will prob go for a walk but waiting sucks and this is only day 2! must get some things in the diary else I'm gonna lose the plot. not very calm or serene!

sherida - sending you birthing vibes, at 7 days over you need them more than me, I'm just a woss (sp?)

tyaca - have been considering being 'romantic' but am afraid DH will balk at the idea! not sure how its poss as well! good advice on the sling too - will just go for it and live with the consequences!

sarah - happy registering! do you have to book to see a registrar or how does that all work??

MrsDandOllie · 13/02/2008 12:35

Afternoon all! DS is at nursery today so I am having a day to myself.. I need it as well, am feeling really rough. This cough and cold is taking its toll and the not sleeping is not helping!! I am off to bed in a minute for a nap I think (what bliss - a day time nap, dont often get one of those!!!)

Just fed up of waiting for this baby now and I'm not even due till Monday!! All the phone calls and texts are doing my head in!!!

Talking of slings - I have just had delivered the 'close' sling (the one off 'bringing up baby' and related to the continuum concept family). it looks fab, I'll let you know how I get on with it once baby is here and I've worked it out!!

gingermumi · 13/02/2008 13:02

Hugs to princess and count, hope you ladies in waiting are doing ok. Only have time for a quick message. Have a good wednesday!

rapunzelle · 13/02/2008 13:09

Hi Guys, checking in from deepest darkest lurkdom to let you know that baby Teddy made an early arrival on 2nd Feb. A scrumptious baby brother for Arden (4.5) and Ben (3) We are all utterly smitten.

He is very chilled, dreamy baby so will try and get on line more often.

Love to one and all.
R x

Lucyand2 · 13/02/2008 13:32

Congrats to everyone who's popped and fingers crossed for everyone still waiting! Typing 1 handed is tough!
Izzy is just over a week old now and we've been struggling with cracked/bleeding nips as she never stays in position, luckily we've got it sorted now (thanks to the La leche league book - a godsend in the middle of the night when you're struggling)
I'm suprised by all the quick labours as I'm sure you all were
My seperated stomach muscles are causing problems so I'm looking at surgery and a bit scared, better than not being able to breathe or lift DD1 though.
I wish I could check back here more but I seem to be drifting through my days at the moment.

LOVEMYMUM · 13/02/2008 14:05

Thanks for the warning about J&J Baby Shampoo. Have put in bathroom for DH to use. What can I use instead (when the time comes).

Welcome Teddy. (Can't keep up with all the new arrivals.)

Princessillama - not surprised you felt awful - what a terrible day! Are you feeling any better today?

Won't be doing a lot for Valentine's Day - DH still ill and i have a runny nose and cough - and it's our first anniversary on Monday!

LOVEMYMUM · 13/02/2008 14:05

Thought i was getting bad B-H contractions - turned out to be a bowel movement.

Sherida · 13/02/2008 14:22

Welcome baby Teddy! What a fantastic name.

Princess, hope you're feeling better today.

Still feeling very ill (and more toilet visits than ever). Had a bloody show tho I think (no expert, not sure what these things are meant to look like) so thanks Widgetsmummy for the vibes. I hope they're working and baby be here soon I really don't want a sweep Friday, so I only have tomorrow to go. So very, very nervous.

LOL at Lovemymum I've had that too, it's difficult to tell whats BHs and whats a genuine need!

tyaca · 13/02/2008 14:34

rapunzel congrats on the birth of teddy!

mrsd, let me know what you think of the close sling. i think in retrospect, the fantastic photography sold me, in reality it seems a bit tricky. lots and lots of spare material. also, in those glam pics, there didnt seem the be the swathes of spare fabric - it looked like such neat choice! but when i've been practicing, i feel like i've loads of loose ends and i feel quite bulky. hard to tell without a real baby though. it does feel v secure and the colour and material are fab.

lovemymum, cant imagine us doing much for valentine's either. like you, we have an anniversary coming up, so maybe hold out for then, hopefully plus baby so i can have something to drink! DH plays football on a thursday, but its been cancelled tomo cause of valentines - of the 10 players, it was only the 4 married ones who could make it , the five with girl-f's called off, and the single bloke figured it was a good night to go on the pull.....

i think i finally have a bit of a nesting instinct. unfortunatly, it involves no cleaning or housework - instead am channeling energies into pampering... eyelashes and brows tinted, off to do nails now...

omy · 13/02/2008 15:15

Wow four pages to read and I was last on yesterday morning!!! How long ago that now seems - thanks so much for all the good wishes and thoughts - they must have worked as LEILA was born in one push still in the bag (very rare apparently) yesterday at 8.25pm after 3 hours of fast painful labour sped up by one prostin pessary given at 12.40pm. I will write a long and detailed birth story - as it is very cathartic but don't feel you have to read it!

PK I was worried about you as no hear for so long - such a beautiful name Kya - Brilliant news.

Congrats to all new arrivals - I can't keep up!

As I write DH has fallen asleep in the sun on the sofa with Leila in his arms - so sweet. Am blissed out even though only got 1 hour sleep last night due to other babies in the ward crying (and was too wound up and excited to sleep until 5am!) Home now though - bliss. (Lolo I SO AGREE about raspberry tea - what disgusting stuff!!!)

omy · 13/02/2008 15:18

By the way - MIL came to stay yesterday and has been brilliant help - just to balance the MIL books!

tyaca · 13/02/2008 15:30

oh omy congrats! such a nice name, and wd for bringing another girl into our brood! loving the sound of a one-push birth and so glad you sound so happy! lol at DH asleep on sofa - half reason i want a kid was just cause i reckon i'd really fancy DH when holding the baby (blame it on the athena posters ...

Egg · 13/02/2008 16:20

Hello and congrats to Rapunzelle and Omy and BIG welcome to Teddy and Leila . You know Omy that babies being born still in the bag of waters is supposed to be very good luck .

Tis all happening now!

Having a cack day as think DS1 is getting his back teeth through. He keeps rubbing his ear, sticking his hand in his mouth, would explain why he was off his food and he is generally a bit unhappy.

Good luck to Sherida, sounds like things are happening for you soon!

loobyt · 13/02/2008 16:52

hello, please can i be added to the hatched list. gave birth to james edward after a 37 hour labour on 9th feb. typing one handed as currently cuddling my beautiful boy!

widgetsmummy · 13/02/2008 17:02

so many hatchlings! well done and what a fab induction story omy - painful but one push - wow! our boy/girl ratio is definately evening out a bit now.

boring day today, managed to drag my body out for a walk and got back ache for my troubles, no bhs though. MIL called to check in, first time since due date so no complaints there.

sherida - hope its working and you avoid a sweep. mine is booked for Monday... in my head I don't think that babs can arrived at weekends, isn't that weird!!! too much of my life has been Mon-Fri obviously!

dinner in the slow cooker so not even got to think about that tonight... might need food before then though... the garibaldi biscuits are calling!

Tallulah1978 · 13/02/2008 18:01

Hallo! Wow - lots of hatchlings - so {envy} - I never thought I'd get to the stage where I actually couldn't wait and was willing things to start. Saw Midwife yesterday and even though I have been measuring a couple of weeks ahead all the way thru the pregnancy she said yesterday that I'm now measuring 36 wks, when I am actually 38+3, even though at my last appt I measured 38 wks when I was only 36. She said she thinks it's because the bump has dropped and I am 4/5ths engaged, she could only feel shoulders. I hate it when they make off the cuff comments but we worry immensely dont we? Hope baby is still growing in there!

Health Visitor came today with student nurse and commented (1) how nice the flat looked (she actually ooooh-ad and ahhhh-ed) and (2) how fabulous I am looking - was very chuffed and glowing even more when I recounted this to DP when he got home. Had tied both dogs up in back garden for when HV came as they were very mischevious this morning and the flat just seemed tranquil and spacious without them (guilty thoughts of always tying them up in garden when LO arrives) after HV left after about an hour was basking in glory of Stepford Wives compliments and completely forgot about dogs for next 3 hours until DP got home and asked where 'the boys' were . Lets hope I manage to develop a better sense of responsibility once it's a human being I'm in charge of. It was nice though - longest the house has stayed clean in a long time - within 30 seconds of them being back in the flat it was covered in mud again! grrrrrrrr.

Hi Tyaca - my Due Date Buddy - I'm so excited - and feeling really ready for it now - have been having a lot of lower back pain, period type pains and braxton hicks so hopefully things are not so far away. Constant knicker checking going on for that bloody show. Have been convinced all along that once things start I will have all the time in the world to have a bath, eat and relax at home before going into hospital for the main event - HV told me today that the girl she has just visited has just had her first - 2 hour start to finish and apparently in her words 'it was a doddle'. Gosh.

Am in the process of buying a Freedom Sling - will be going for Navy or Black methinx - although am having trouble deciding which style to go for. I think I'm erring towards the one with the drawstrings for new nervous first-timers.

Mum has bought us loads of Johnsons products which I think I will end up using on myself - and a massive tub of talc - even though for a start she knows I am allergic to it and always have been and even after I had a discussion with her about the choking warnings about using talc on babies and that I definitely wouldn't be. She still bought it 'just in case'. Tut. Someone has bought me some Avent 'liquid talc' too so might give that a whirl. Have just decided def going to have a bath toinght with all my johnsons products to lap up that baby smell.

Am very encouraged by how blissful all the new mummies sound and it's making me even more excited to meet my baby.

That's enough of a ramble for now. x x x

pobletsmum · 13/02/2008 18:05

Huge congratulations to loobyt, rapunzelle and omy!

Happy D-day to me!

Lovemymum - plain water should be just fine. Alternatively, if you feel the need to use something, some people use 'Halos & Horns', although it actually aggravated DS' eczema, as do most of the lotions & potions we've tried. He is best with Johnson's top-to-toe wash, and I love the smell .

I think I'll be offered a sweep at my MW appt tomorrow, but won't be having one. Might have one early/middle of next week if it's offered.

widget - I think I might have to invest in a slow cooker.

pobletsmum · 13/02/2008 18:08

Tallulah - glad you had a positive visit from HV.

rozzyraspberry · 13/02/2008 18:15

Congrats to everyone who's had babies over the last few days!

I had period cramps for a few days on and off before lo arrived so hopefully it's the start of things for some of you.

Take care all xx

Egg · 13/02/2008 18:53

Yay well done loobyt and welcome to baby James . I am having to check in every few hours so I don't miss any little ones....

Will have to get that list sorted soon!

Beany I also use Halos n Horns for DS1 and will use it for the DTs when we actually use anything other than water. It is fab and smells lovely. When pg with DS1 I bought the big Johnsons baby box with loads of products in. We have used most of them now but mainly on ourselves, DS1 comes out all rashy and dry whenever we use anything other than his usual stuff, if DH has a bath with him and uses Dove on himself it even makes DS1 all itchy.

Just opened a beer .

More little ones in the world!

A big welcome to you all.

Have decided not to use any baby toiletries on LO (have only bought liquid baby bath so far) until the HV says it is ok to do so: DH had very dry skin when he was born and I have very dry skin too, with a family history of eczema, so definitely going to be using water with hardly anything in to clean baby.

MIL massaged DH with olive oil from birth for 40 days. Now he has tough Mediterranean skin (and is v sexy too!)

Hi all,

Have not posted on here in a long long time but have been reading constantly. Wanted to say congrats to all the new mums and to say to other mums to be, we are nearly bloddy there!

Its my due date today, hello to fellow due daters! Had abit of a day today so felt the need to write. I had a lump on my breast develop over the last few months and it kept growing and changing. I finally got it cut out today and am so relieved! Thought I would be going into hospital today to give birth not for this, but am pleased its over all the same. Am worried it may affect my breast feeding but it had to be done.

I also had a stretch and sweep afterwards today to try and get the baby on its way so feel like I have been pulled and proded all over the place today. Think its time for a well desereved hot bath!

Look forward to more baby news and see if there are any Valentines babies!
