Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingermumi · 12/02/2008 11:44

Big, big congrats to all hatchlings, how exciting!

Toby awake lots now so inbetween feeds and trying to keep house vaguely up together don't seem to get much time on mn. Am typing with LO on my lap (pls excuse typing skills!).

Omy - You don't forget, it all comes back so quickly. I did have a c-sect this time round but even so i felt i could have given birth 'naturally' without any probs. Have to say it is brilliant having a baby again. I am tired but am much more chilled i think (perhaps I'm too old to care!). Hope all goes well for you, am happy to share any concerns, it is a bit different having teens and being pregnant/ a new mum to having them close together (dds 1 and 2 are 3 years apart). I sometimes feel I'm neglecting them a bit but i expect they're glad i'm paying them less attention! just seen you're being induced today-sure you'll do fine!

Anyone heard from man? she went into hosp ages ago.

Have to go and get dressed again, have just been puked on! yay!

gingermumi · 12/02/2008 11:45

That should say ' any news from mana?' oops!

bovrilsarnies · 12/02/2008 12:19

Congrats Lolo on a baby girl!!

Pobletsmum ? thanks for your experience of B-feeding, I just asked DP if he ever goes near Sainsbury?s on his way to / from work, to see if he could pick some Lansinoh up for me, and he was horrified at the thought of purchasing such a product??.. then he said?? Ah well, if they look at him funny, he will say that his shirt is really chafing!! HaHaHaHaHa.

I have a good DP.

Well done Rozzy on an excellent birth story!! I want to hear more like that.

Omy ? good luck with the induction!!! Look forward to hearing a happy birth story from you!

Congrats Jo!! Sorry to hear about the horrendous labour ? but at least you are all safe and well now and you can put the horribleness behind you and enjoy your beautiful baby boy!!

Wow Merly you have been through a lot! Congrats on 2 boys though!! Sounds really scary - Glad you are all now well!

Hi Tallulah ? good to hear from you again! Sorry you have been so ill! Sounds absolutely PANTS! The sunny weather has definitely put a spring in my step ? oh, that and being really excited now it?s February already and the LO is due SOON?.

Mymissus ? can?t offer any advice for you ? but good luck!!

Congrats PK!! Another gorgeous girl!!

Tyaca ? LOL at ?like feb '08 was the start of some apoclytical end of womankind ? thankfully not the weird end of womanhood apocalypse that you were dreading!! Ha Ha Ha!

MrsD ? enjoy your snuggles on the sofa!!

Sally ? the BH?s I?ve experienced have not been painful ? but I have had sharp pains in my side, and thought it to be a sudden Jab from LO?s foot as I always seem to feel a lot of movement in my right side IYKWIM. Sometimes it feels like someone tickling too ? but from the inside??. Weird.

Widget ? I know what you mean by turning nocturnal!! I went to bed coz I thought I ought to at about 1am this morning??. Lay there for ages trying to get to sleep??. Then had mad dreams about my Mum and Dad having the roof of their house removed so that they could install an extra floor for Me DP and LO to come and move in with them.

Well done Egg updating the list!! I was starting to lose track too.

Hi Beansprout ? good to hear from you and you sound really happy even if you are tired!! I know I will have probs with fatigue ? I HATE being tired!! Just hope that my mood is lightened by the fact I will have a LO to look after and coo over!!

Hi Gingermumi - Mana was booked in for C section on Monday the 4th?. She wasn?t certain that her OH would be able to post for her though. Hopefully all is well and she is just too busy gazing at their new arrival??? either that or she is being kept busy with visitors that won?t make their own cups of tea etc!! like before? .

Well, DP is "shirking from home" today - so we are off out for a pub lunch!!

Later!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/02/2008 12:50

Congrats to lolo and Rozzy, i have not read all details yet, but will do!!!

Hope everyone is ok,

we are settling Rosie in nicely, all seems well,

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/02/2008 12:56

Well done Pk also!!!!

pobletsmum · 12/02/2008 14:02

bovril - what a thorough update - I'm very impressed! I'm not sure when the Sainsburys half price toiletries offer finishes - might be finished already. Lansinoh is still worth buying at £10 though to be honest. You can buy it at Mothercare too, and big chemists.

PK - great to hear your happy news - well done!

Hello to those of you who haven't posted for a while, or have just come back to the boards after a bit of a break. Sorry to hear you've been so unwell Tallulah.

No twinges or anything here. Just waiting patiently.

pobletsmum · 12/02/2008 14:04

Sarah - glad things are settling down for you and your family.

beansprout · 12/02/2008 14:24

Intact nips are worth a lot of money. £10 is still a bargain!!

Gill79 · 12/02/2008 15:14

Wow - congrats PK, Lolo, Jo, Merly and all the others who've popped - some great birth stories (though yours sounds scary Merly). All this "1, 2 3 and out" business makes me really keen to try and do it properly next time!

Pk meant to say last time I was one your MIL sounds unbelievable. Really hope you manage to keep her away for a bit!

LO has been getting on great - put on over 700g (they don't do imprial) in 16 days since birth and rolled over the other day! Very exciting but I get the feeling this one is going to be a total handful! Off to find a thread where I can compare and show off his amazing abilities Although he has come down with a rather nasty case of acne the fault of my hormones apparently.

Good luck everyone who's still waiting to go.... oh yes thought of another tip - gas and air makes you really really thirsty so make sure you take a big plastic bottle in that dp can fill for you as those little plastic cups aren't enough! And make sure your phones are fully charged all the time as you can't harge them in hosp.

Oh and I have one friend who experienced no pain when breastfeeding. But know lots of others who have given up. Just keep the faith girls!!!

Egg · 12/02/2008 15:26

Mine are both spotty as hell too, with dandruff to boot...........

tyaca · 12/02/2008 15:26

a big congrats to PK. i hope you are well, looking forward to hearing more from you. hope MIL is behaving herself now that LO's arrived ;-)

excellent admin egg, our list grows ever longer. looking forward to hearing from hatchees soon. no sign of cosima? also - bluedomino due for CS tomo if our list still right? good luck to you and of course good luck to omy too.

v nice to hear from all those with babies! hello to sarah, bean, gill and ginger... and hello to all those lurking but too tired to type (ginger, sod the housework!)

gill, i fear i could not read your BF'ing tips! but dont think you can casually redress the balance with a comment about your mate finding it easy ... and lol at showing off malcom's gaining weight... me and DH are still telling all who care to listen that at our scan last week, the scanner said our LO was having "lovely little movements" -- we sat there beaming!

bean, sleep will one day be yours again...!

welcome back tallulah - my due date buddy! actually, i have a thousand due dates... ok, ok, three. it was the 22nd slash 24th... been choosimg 22nd in my head cause god knows who wouldnt choose the earlier date? then health visitor just been round and the date she's got is 25th... grrrrrr.... get thee out of me baby.

you'll all be relieved to know that i've had my highlights done and am now basically all set to have baby . in interests of penny pinching, had them done by a trainee. it took FOUR AND A HALF HOURS. FOR A HALF HEAD. that and the two hour round trip yesterday nearly killed me.

for all you sling users, just to let you know i got mine thru the post today. got a close sling, which is a stretchy soft tie on. got it from big mamas slings website. am about to watch the dvd and try it on with a stuffed tiger toy standing in for baby.

and finally (sorry long post), but just terrified DH by ringing him in the middle of a lesson (he teaches)... i must have had my really dumb brain on to think that the fact i cant make sound on telly come back on was worth not waiting end of school day. paniced, hung up and sent "not urgent" text, but he'd already stopped the lesson and was ringing me back.

beansprout · 12/02/2008 15:50

Sore nips are not compulsory!! With ds1 they hurt at first, when he latched on, but if the latch is ok, it really shouldn't last too long and soon won't hurt at all.
Ds2 hasn't hurt at all, but then again, I have been feeding ds1 through pregnancy and he has teeth, like this --> so may well have tough old nips by now (a proud boast and no mistake).

Right, while I am still waiting for my Close baby sling to arrive am going to dust down ye olde Wilkinet that someone gave me and see if I can't go and pick up ds1 from nursery....

Oh yes, I and too have a spotty child. Lovely.

widgetsmummy · 12/02/2008 16:45

tyaca - lol at panicing your DP, gets a bit like that now. DH tells me to call him and then freaks everytime I do - that and half the office stops to see if he suddenly rushes out! mind you he is on borrowed time now, as I keep reminding him!

had nice little day, lunch with a friend and then a little doze must say though that the dribbling is back with a vengence (sorry if TMI or just a bit gross!)

off to order my sling seems as you lot are making me think about it

beansprout · 12/02/2008 16:49

Ooh, what sling are you getting widget?

I also like the end of pregnancy - dh's colleagues can't connect my call quick enough - now I just have to leave messages like everyone else...

Egg · 12/02/2008 16:50

Me and all three DCs dribble. . See, I can match anything anyone says!

Oh ok, well not Beany's proud boast of tough old nips, as mine are not in use and I think are pretty pathetically tender!

DS1 had 3hrs 10 mins sleep at lunch. Ooops. He was so tired after so many nights of waking up a lot and waking up early to start the day.

Babies sleeping after ridiculously large feeds considering how soon after last ones. Maybe a growth spurt .

Gill, I think babies are "supposed" to be able to roll over at about FOUR MONTHS so methinks you had better get yourself over to the "Gifted and Talented" threads quick smart . Impressive indeed! DD likes to think she can, but she only gets halfway and gets stuck with a leg in the air!

gingermumi · 12/02/2008 16:53

Thanks tyaca - probably shouldn't have tried to hoover anyway, now c-sect feels likes someone's kicked it! Can't believe it - toby crying again, have to go ladies!

tyaca · 12/02/2008 16:53

...actually, its quite fun ringing people when you're pg! my mum is always breathless when she answers phone at the moment. you think we're all missing a trick by NOT ringing people at the mo? maybe ring mobiles, hang up before they answer so they just have missed calls? hehehe

bean - let me know how you get on with the close and a real live baby. i fear i have become unstuck at the "making sure none of the material is twisted" bit. if ever there was material that liked to twist, this is it. grrrrrr.... the toy tiger has not even had a go yet. BUT the pistachio colour goes really well with my new hair....

mymissus · 12/02/2008 16:54

Hi all
Back from hospital. Monitered for another couple of hours, LO fine and very active which was good but no regular contractions still so sent home with instructions to ring for induction time tomorrow at 9am.

Congrats all new hatchlings and good luck to all others...

widgetsmummy · 12/02/2008 16:55

have been looking at the freedom sling - want a ring one and its quite cheap as I don't know that I'll get on with it but like the idea

see cgi.ebay.co.uk/FREEDOM-SLING-BABY-CARRIER-MIDWIFE-ENDORSED-0-3yr_W0QQitemZ300197437630QQihZ020QQcate goryZ137725QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

beansprout · 12/02/2008 16:56

Ooh, am this close to ordering the pistachio as they are currently out of the olive and I want it NOW!! Ahem!

beansprout · 12/02/2008 16:57

I have one that is v similar to that but I have ongoing problems with my back and need something that distributes the weight more evenly. Ds2 is already 11lb or so, so having the weight to one side is already not ideal for me.

freakypenguin · 12/02/2008 16:58

I am having an elective c-section on Friday!

beansprout · 12/02/2008 17:00

It's ok, don't worry! Are you with that? Why are you having an elective?

widgetsmummy · 12/02/2008 17:00

freaky - cooo! good luck! can't imagine what its like to have a date! is everything ok? good luck!

bean - good point on weight distribution... there are so many of the darn things to choose from!

beansprout · 12/02/2008 17:02

I know!! I drove myself half mad doing the research!!
