Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LOVEMYMUM · 11/02/2008 16:27

Hi Rozzy - welcome Andrew!

Hi Omy - sorry you had a fright. My LO makes little movements until i have breakfast and i agree, it is a bit scary waiting for that first movement every day.

mymissus · 11/02/2008 16:42

Looks like Lolo had a baby girl yesterday morning on the Birth Announcements thread!!

pobletsmum · 11/02/2008 17:05

Congratulations rozzy!

Bovril - b'feeding didn't hurt me until later on. In hospital, and at home for the 1st few days, DS fed beautifully every few hours and I was pain-free. Buy some Lansinoh if you're worried - it really is good stuff and is half price at Sainsburys at the moment.

Off to search for lolo's birth announcement...

rozzyraspberry · 11/02/2008 17:13

Congratulations Lolo! I'm sure she was worth the wait!

The 3 boys are happy so here's my birth story.

As I'd already posted I'd been feeling a bit crampy on and off on Friday and Saturday and had had a few contractions although they were really mild. When I got up yesterday I was feeling really crampy and had a bloody discharge. At 6 o'clock the contractions started and although they were stronger than they had been on Fri/Sat they were still easily manageable and were only coming every 10/12 mins. At 10 I was a bit fed up that things weren't progressing so decided to go to bed to try and get some sleep as I thought I had a long way to go. Dozed for around an hour. At 11.20 I started having strong contractions but they were only coming every 15 minutes. I knew from past experience that things don't progress for me when I'm lying down so I got up at 12.

It all started to move quite quickly from then on. By 12.45 the contractions were strong and coming every 4 minutes. I phoned the hospital and we made our way in. By the time we got there at 1.30 they were every 3 minutes and getting stronger still. The midwife examined me and said that although I was dilating well the membranes were bulging and she wouldn't attempt to rupture them at that point as Andrews head was still too far up.

Over the next hour the contractions got stronger and were only 2 minutes apart. I got the urge to push and the midwife said to go for it!! With the first push my waters broke with a loud pop all over the bed and DH . His head came out with the 2nd push and his body with the 3rd. He was born at 3.16am. DH and I were pretty shocked at the speed as although I'd had 2 previous straightforward labours they'd never been particularly quick.

I'm feeling pretty good although tired (tried to rest after he was born but couldn't stop looking at him ). Also nipples are already feeling a bit sore - bf has never been a strong point of mine. I think our next thread title should be 'sore nipples and sleepless nights!'.

DS1 and DS2 are thrilled with their little brother - he's been a little angel so far but I'm sure that'll change once he recovers from the birth. He's got facial congestion from the speedy arrival but other than that is perfect!

pobletsmum · 11/02/2008 17:15

Copied from lolo's birth annoucement:

'Hi, mr ayrshirelolo here...ayrshirelolo had a baby girl at 10am today.weighed 7lbs 7oz , named Alexis Zoe.Both are well and will be home tomorrow'

Congratulations lolo!

omy, sorry i forgot to wish you all the best for tomorrow if you do decide to go in for induction. I really hope you aren't being pressured into it. You really aren't very old - I have 2 close friends who had babies over 40 with no problems at all. One of them had a gap of 15 years since her 1st, but her body still remembered what to do, and she had an easier, faster labour than 1st time round. Unless there's a medical reason, I thought it was usually safest (and less painful) to wait until the baby is ready. If it's what you want though, go for it. We'll all be waiting for your news!

pobletsmum · 11/02/2008 17:18

x-posts rozzy - what a fantastic birth story - thanks for taking the time to share it with us already. Wishing you all well

omy · 11/02/2008 17:37

Fab news Rozzy. Well Done!

widgetsmummy · 11/02/2008 17:50

well done rozzy and lolo!

wonder how pk is...?

Egg · 11/02/2008 18:42

Fab fab news well done to Rozzy and Lolo and welcome to Andrew and Alexis (at last a girl for the boys to flirt with!).

Getting DS off to bed early tonight so off again now.

Egg · 11/02/2008 18:48

Hey I just spotted THIS ONE from our very own Jo9977 on the birth announcements too...

(on behalf of Jo )

Daniel Brian has arrived ...

...in a rather spectacular style: he is beautiful and is 6lb 12oz, and arrived via emergency c-sect after a pretty horrendous attempt at labour.
Jo and Daniel are both well, more news as we get them

MERLYPUSS · 11/02/2008 19:11

Just a quick birth story .....
Thomas William born 31.01.2008 at 15.53 hours weighing 6lb 14oz (what a fatty)
Isaac Jamie born 31.01.2008 at 15.55 hours weighing 5lb 4oz.
At Queen Mary?s Hospital, Sidcup.
I (as some may already know) was having regular tests as my blood pressure had been creeping up. On the Monday 27/01 I had a normal appointment and my usual consultant was sick but the ?stand in? was concerned about my urine and blood results so asked that I provide a 24 hour wee sample and come back to the day assessment unit on the Wednesday.
They plugged me into a monitor to hear the heart beats of the boys and all seemed ok. Then they took my blood pressure, blood and a dip test for urine. Then it all got a bit panicked (although I was oblivious to this) and I was admitted to anti-Natal/labour ward for obs.
I still thought I would be going home at this point. I had to stay in over night and was checked regularly and even managed breakfast the next morning.
Thursday
All of a sudden things stepped up a gear and I was classed as high risk having developed pre-eclampsia. I was taken to theatre about half past three. They had a slight problem sighting the epidural as my belly was so big that I couldn?t curl up enough.
Any way the long and the short of it was that they ?produced? Thomas from behind the screen and said the immortal words ?You have a boy? and handed him to OH. We fully expected that ?fat twinny? was going to be a fella as I had been convinced for some time that I was having one of each.
Then the 2nd twin was produced and they didn?t announce what sex it was as he was rushed over to the resus unit where he struggled for a bit and stopped breathing and had to be suctioned and ventilated. Three paediatricians were emergency buzzed to attend to him and decided he would be better off in special care where he was given formula to raise his sugars, cooked under a blue lamp and his breathing watched.
It was then they told us it was another little boy which knocked us sideways. I lost 2ltrs of blood and was on high dependency for a nearly a day and Isaac joined the family about midnight.
Sorry about the long winded message but wanted to let you know that we are all well. Will write more when I can.

tyaca · 11/02/2008 19:31

oh goodness, so much news. what a fantastic time.

very many congrats rozzy and welcome to your LO. sounds like my kind of labour - it does seem that some of the second/third timers are having three-push births! many thanks for letting us know all the details so quickly.

excellent work Egg and Pobletsmum for your detective work re Lolo and Jo. Look forward to hearing from them both. and hurrah for another girl - this was all getting a bit freaky (like feb '08 was the start of some apoclytical end of womankind )

merly - thanks so much for taking the time to give us all the details. sounds like a scary time from admission to the safe arrival to your family of Isaac. I am glad to hear all is well now - hope you are getting looked after now you're back at home

well done all!

OP posts:
LOVEMYMUM · 11/02/2008 20:27

Hi Merly. Sounds a bit scary and very pleased for you that all is ok now. Hope you are all recovering well.

I expect more arrivals every day now.

Tallulah1978 · 12/02/2008 00:18

Hi ladies - it's been a while since I made myself known on here. Leading up to Christmas I got really busy and then during Christmas me and DP both became really poorly with bonafide flu. DP was in bed for about a week but I went from bad to worse and was basically ill for the whole of January with flu, chest infection, sinusitus, ear infections and all manner of unpleasantries. Was signed off work for 3 weeks which took me to the start of of my Mat leave - and ended up going really into myself and getting pretty darn fed up!
But I have been lurking on here practically every day and following all your progress - you guys have kept me going and connected with the outside world! I didn't want to post cos I was just too miserable!
I am now feeling much brighter, I think the sunny weather and blue skies are helping. I'm now 12 days off my due date of 24th Feb and getting very excited and enjoying the last days of being pregnant. Am barely sleeping on a night with my busy head and restless legs but am managing to sleep like a cat during the day.

All is well with baby and I have a Midwife appointment tomorrow and the Health Visitor is coming on Wednesday (so nervous about that - like there's class A drugs kicking round or something.......I know she'll spot immediately that I am not fit to be a mother - hence being up at 3am yesterday cleaning the radiators to prove otherwise - doh!)

Even tho I've not been posting I do feel comradrie with each and every one of you Feb ladies and have been quietly sitting in the corner watching it all unfold whilst chomping on ginger biscuits.

Lots of love to you all with your newborns and labouring vibes to those of you on the brink and waiting to pop.

Am now going to attempt to be even more sociable and update my profile properly and add a picture of my and big belly.

Sorry for long post!

xxx

omy · 12/02/2008 06:09

Congratulations Lolo! it was worth the wait!!

Congratulations Jo!

Well done Rozzy - sounds like a fab birth.

Merlypuss - wonderful that you are all well - well done!

Talullah - great that you are feeling better and have joined the conversation!

I am off to hosp now and feeling nervous.

mymissus · 12/02/2008 06:49

Good luck Omy!

Well my waters broke yesterday at about 8.30pm, and had irregular contractions. Hospital asked me to come in at 11, and monitered me til 2am, then told me to go home and have a sleep, and to come in when the contractions got too painful or to ring when 5 mins apart.

Just woken after a couple of hours sleep and feel better, but still v irregular contractions. Have an appointment this afternoon to be monitered, then induction tomorrow if nothing happens.

After all the speedy 2nd and 3rd timers, this is the opposite - bit slower than
I imagined!! Any advice anyone?!
Thanks

Pk616 · 12/02/2008 07:18

Hello ladies,
Just a quickie...
Kya Elspeth was born @ 20:50 on SUN 10/02/08.
Healthy, 5lb 15oz, 48cm long, full head of hair and shes beautiful.

MrsDandOllie · 12/02/2008 08:13

Oh wow.. Congratulations on all the new hatchings! They are coming thick and fast now! I love reading the stories.
6 days till my due date and no signs from me yet... had a curry last night and all I got for my troubles was indigestion think this baby is comfy in there

DS still a bit under the weather so I expect we will be having another snuggle on the sofa day today. Looks cold outside BRRRRRR

SallyInYorkshire · 12/02/2008 08:38

Oh my goodness congrats on all the new arrivals!!!!!!!

I am now exactly 39 weeks. Like MrsDandOllie's, my LO seems quite happy inside and is making no signs of wanting to come out!

I did get an ache in the side of my belly yesterday when walking to the shops - it felt just like a atitch (the sort you get when running) - would that be Braxton Hicks? sorry to be clueless but haven't had any proper BHs so far and don't know what they feel like.

widgetsmummy · 12/02/2008 09:12

well done PK and Merly! So glad you are ok - can't wait for PK's story, you are my birthing close to due date idol!

Tallulah - glad you are feeling better, its a bit mad on this thread, stuff happens so fast!

as expected nothing happened yesterday, getting a bit of a cold and had one of those nights that seemed to last forever, but feel better this morning. I know its crazy but also convinced myself in the night that LO turned breech (3/5th engaged for weeks) and went through all these scenarios of having to call the mat ward etc. crazed hormonal night time thoughts! luckily had chucked DH in the spare room so he got some sleep! no doubt will sleep contentedly for England this afternoon - what is that about? preparing us for becoming nocturnal?

anyways - will try and walk, bounce and get this babs moving before the threatened sweep next Mon!

have a good day all - will check in later for more exciting news... what would I do without mumsnet???!!!

widgetsmummy · 12/02/2008 09:12

oh and good luck Omy! hope all goes well! x

Tallulah1978 · 12/02/2008 09:13

Yay - well done PK - great to hear from you and glad all is well. You sound so in love with your duaghter already - and what a beautiful name. Big Love x

Good luck to Omy, sending you brave vibes. and Hang in there mymissus...
.

Egg · 12/02/2008 09:56

Well done PK! Another beautiful little girl . Bet you are relieved. Have not worked out who won the race yet. Good luck to Omy, although I think I have missed you now.

Merly, I have said congrats to you haven't I? Your birth sounds scary and so pleased both your lovely boys are fit and well now. We need to get the hatched list updated asap as I am losing track . I would do it but am worried I will get someone's details wrong. Might have a go though, just moving the names down even if I don't get the babies names or dates on.

Egg · 12/02/2008 10:00

OK I think I have moved all those who have hatched onto the hatched list, but apologies if I missed anyone. Not in date order but will leave it to the ladies involved to put their details on (or anyone else who has more time than me!).

When we move to the postnatal boards once everyone is hatched can we put all our info on, ie other children etc so we can keep up to date on who has what?!?!

Good idea Egg! Can I suggest we use birthdates e.g beansprout, ds1 born Oct 04 etc as "ds1, 3.3 months" will keep needing to be updated?

Anyway, admin aside (!) congratulations!! to Slacker, mutha, lolo, Jo, PK and rozzy!!!!
Hope you are all ok and enjoying your little ones. Best wishes and happy labour vibes to everyone who is having BHs, twinges, contractions etc

Ok here, although the sleep thing is getting to me a bit. Have visitor fatigue too, it's nice to see people but it means I don't rest (sleep) which is rough. That said, ds2 is very chilled and is very easy to look after so it could all be a lot worse!!
