Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

That's such good news DG. Must be so reassuring after all the drama.

MissusH · 08/02/2008 11:35

fab news dg !! I had similar when pg with dd - isn't it a relief when you see that heart beating??!!

Well, we have a bit of a plague house going on in Missus Towers. I am still coughing for England (think I may have coughed up a lung last night ), dd the same but keeps forgetting and runs around like a mad thing and then spends 20 mins wheezing on the sofa and dh has been signed off work with bronchitis... The first thing you notice when you walk in the house is the wonderful aroma of Olbas Oil!!

Looking at all the booking in appt and scans etc - they seem to be ages away for you all. It seems weird that my midwife wants to see me at 9wks for booking in. Is it cos I live out in the sticks - not so busy iykwim?

Sunshinemummy · 08/02/2008 11:46

DG so glad to hear your news. Was really worrying about you while you were away - wonderful that all is OK.

We have a very happy Sunshine household today. Scan yesterday was brilliant. DP saw Balou (it has a new name) straight away and then scanner turned machine so I could see it. It was so sweet, the baby was doing all kinds of somersaults. Also, we could both tell that it looks different from DS, has a totally different nose.

Anyway, main news is that I am actually 11 weeks pregnant, due on 28th August. Hoping I can stay on September thred but might pop over there from time to time. As I'm likely to have CS, it will probably be born even earlier.

Re. other tests, I'm having nuchal fold when I have 13 week scan. I was looking over midwife's shoulder at booking in yesterday and apparently, based on age alone, I have a 1 in 227 chance of a downs baby - v. scary. Unlike others on here I will have further tests if the risk from nuchal and blood comes up high.

Gracie14 · 08/02/2008 11:52

Hi all,

DG - Fantastic news hun

Well had my booking in appointment with midwife today, not particularly exciting bit of an anti-climax really although given loads of books and info to read. Not sure whether I'm that keen on the midwife to be honest, she was very dismissive of my worries on miscarriage (i know not much can be done to stop a miscarriage but still hoped for abit of reassurance), she basically said if it happens it happens and its very common (yeah thanks that helps!! ) Anyway also asked about hospitals and said my partner was unhappy with the way I was treated at hospital choice when I had to go to a+e and all she said was well it isn't his decision its mine, and that anything can happen in any hospital!!! (Well, thanks again) Good job DP wasn't there think we would have had to move counties to get away from the midwife as well as the hospital.

She didn't feel my tummy or anything, no listening for the heartbeat either. So roll on 2 weeks when I can have the scan. Sorry about the rant, going to cheer myself up with a danish pastry

Gracie14 · 08/02/2008 11:54

Sunshine - Sorry crossed posts with you, thats fantastic news hun, please stay with us though. I know its hard but try not to think about all the tests at the moment, just celebrate Balou and his/her somersaulting - wow can't wait for mine now. So pleased for you hun

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 08/02/2008 12:10

Dg & sunshine, so pleased your scan results were what you hoped.
I've been pretty quiet around here, mainly because I've just been sooooo tired and now am feeling nauseous.
Haven't had any spotting for a while, which has done my morale some good!
Good luck to all

Lilypink · 08/02/2008 12:16

It must be a friday - I have good news too!! My scan this morning showed a little 8 week baby with a heart going like the clappers!! I have even got a photo of little bean!!

mamamufin · 08/02/2008 12:26

Hi guys
Dg & Sunshine Soooooooooo pleased all is well with you both. Now its time to embrase and enjoy being pregnant- all of us.

We need the sun to shine in our threads sunshine so dont leave us.

Still having the worst time imaginable with ms. I cant even think about eating anymore as I know I am going to see it again. (SORRY). However, now I am retching with nothing to come up and it really hurts. Got to go xx

Sunshinemummy · 08/02/2008 12:57

Brag alert - got my first ever mention in the Mumsnet Talk Round-up today. Sorry not related to our thread at all but so excited. Feel all validated!

kel78 · 08/02/2008 13:20

Just had my midwife appt today, not very exciting just filling out aload of forms and asking what tests I want done. So different to other pregnancies as I just had what was offered when u went but know you have to read all about them and then fill out a form and give it in. They said that if u dont they dont chase u and they will just assume u dont want any tests scans etc.. Very odd

kel78 · 08/02/2008 13:23

Started the day today feeling very sorry for myself, managed to get up and not be sick get the children ready for school. Just as we were about to leave my eldest started to scratch and low and behold she had nits. Great so I have to drive to the chemist at 8.50 to get some nit cream still in my pjs.
When I finally de nit her I just broke down in tears I then had to go to my midwife appointment at 10.00 with 2 children in tow. Can this day get any worse. I have now joined all u tearfull prople cos I cant stop crying over the slightest thing. Sorry to moan

Sunshinemummy · 08/02/2008 13:50

Oh Kel hope things get better. It's horrible when you're having one of those days.

digitalgirl · 08/02/2008 14:11

That's wonderful news sunshine & lilypink! Hooray for all of us!!

I have no idea when my booking-in appointment is, am still waiting for the letter from the hospital (the one I chose is different to the one I went to today, it's much closer). But it's supposed to be arriving within the next week.

kel sounds like you did brilliantly this morning, despite feeling rubbish. I'm sure I would have just pretended I hadn't seen anything and dealt with it 'later'.

hey missusH another ttc grad to join us! sorry to hear you and your family have all been stricken down, hope it passes soon.

Hope the danish pastry made you feel better gracie, I've just been for tea and cake with DH. Was the best slice of banana loaf I've had in ages.

Has anyone else gone off chocolate?

Hi guys, So pleased for all of you who are having good scan results, I haven't even heard from a midwife yet

I think i said before, we don't even get a 12 week scan here. (Winchester)

I just want to have an appointment with someone!!

I read in a magazine today, that once you see a heartbeat at an early scan, your risk of Mc drops to just 2%.

I'm still feeling gross, not actually being sick, I dont know if thats worse though, I hate feeling nauseous, and its lasting all bloody day

Anyway I will stop moaning now! Hope you all have a good weekend.xx

MissusH · 08/02/2008 14:25

I've been tearful at the most un-tearful things on tv!!

And I've gone off tea (same as 1st pg) and have started drinking loads of orange juice (again, same as 1st pg)

I'm liking the sound of the cake though dg might just get myself some Manor House on my way home, mmmmm......

kel78 · 08/02/2008 14:32

Thanks all for hugs etc, Im so glad for u both Dg & Sunshine that uve had ur scans and everythings great. Ive got my 9 week scan next thurs and if all ok I think I will start to relax. Few things the midwife told me today which I though I would share was that No runny eggs even Lion eggs they all have to be hard. Just thought Id check because of other threads where we thought lion eggs might be ok. Also no whippy ice cream or mc flurrys as that has something in it apparently. Ive always had them on prev pregnancys but apparently not aloud any more And the big one she said was caffeine because ive had 3 mc thay said that the new survey just done states no more that 3 cups of coffee or 5 teas a day as this can cause mc. I know they are always bringing out new surveys etc but thought I would just share her advice with u all. [SMILE]

DebitheScot · 08/02/2008 14:43

YAY to those of you who have had good scans, must be such a relief to see the baby and see its ok.

I like that stat about mc risk reducing so much after seeing a heartbeat, thats reassuring too.

I just wish my appointment would arrive soon. Although I'm not really worrying too much there's been nights when I can't sleep and I lie there wondering if when I go for the scan they see nothing and then tell me I made up being pregnant! Yes I know thats silly but hey, thats what happens in the middle of the night!

Gracie- I seem to remember that it was quite far on before the midwives starting poking and prodding my tummy and looking for heartbeats as this early on they won't find anything. My midwife at the booking appoint this time didn't even test my wee, it got sent away to be tested for infections. And the doc didn't do a pg test so noone official has any concrete proof that I'm pg, hey just took my word for it.

hopefully · 08/02/2008 15:17

Gosh, I feel so sorry for you people who are actually vomiting. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to lose weight instead of having put on nearly 4lb already (eeeeek!!!), but I suspect the vomiting is not worth it...

Nearly the weekend! I can't wait, got another weekend of doing nothing, which will be so nice.

DP's mother last night very genreously offered to buy a pram and mentioned that she's already bought loads of presents. It's really generous of her and everything, but I had specifically said that (a) I didn't want loads of presents bought, as DP and I are quite ethically minded, so don't like too much new crap when we can get it second hand or an eco version and (b) I had also asked everyone to PLEASE not buy any presents till after the 12 week scan. I'm really cross but cross with myself for being cross. Grrr.

imoscarsmum · 08/02/2008 15:39

Fantastic news all of you who've seen hearbeats. I'm so pleased for you all.

I can't wait for my dating scan now - seems an age away (on 3 March). I have my booking in with mw at GP surgery a week today, and then a booking in at the hospital the following Monday (bizarre!!). Hopefully, it'll seem a bit more real soon - I've had a mega week in work and got another one next week (travelling all over Yorkshire for 4 days), so my boss is gonna love me when i tell the good news.

Embarrassingly, I cried watching Neighbours the other day.......told DP it was hormones for sure.

Kel78 - I adore Mr Whippy - my fave ice cream, so dreading the summer...boo hoo. (Although I am going to Yo Sushi in the Trafford Centre tomorrow. Checked with doc re raw fish and he said it's shellfish that's the no no, not raw fish like sashimi. Apparently, as long as you've eaten it regularly, it shouldn't be a problem as your body is used to it. Yay! )

TFI the weekend.

imoscarsmum · 08/02/2008 15:41

PS hugs to all who are suffering with ms, especially mamamufin, who seems to be having a really rotten time. I'm so sorry for you - can't imagine what it's like.
Hopefully, all those who aren't first timers will reassure us that it's worth it!

mamamufin · 08/02/2008 15:59

Thanks for your kind message imoscarsmum. I am sure this stage will soon be a distant memory. However, I have read that some people feel like this until they give birth. How awful, I really could not cope and hope that I am not one of 'those' people.

Feeling quite irritable with my poor dh. He keeps asking me "What can I do/get you/do for you?" It is sweet but nothing can fix this nausea/vomiting, fussing is worthless. Sorry to moan so much

hopefully · 08/02/2008 16:11

I shouldn't worry mamamuffin. I am feeling guilt free about whinging about DP's mother offering to buy a very expensive pram (she bought a stokke xplory for the last grandchild...) and giving us presents! And I don't even have the excuse of ms making me irrational.
