Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Hello digitalgirl, empathy with the spotting. I had some spotting with my ds and they found a benign polyp on my cervix which had bled a little. They always say that spotting is quite common don't they?
Good luck with the scan tomorrow.
My morning sickness is almost gone now which is slightly depressing me! Just before my mc three years ago at 9 weeks I lost my morning sickness.
Hey ho, other symptoms are there
Hugely tired
Hugely hungry
Enormous chest
bloated tum.
So maybe this is one of those sick free pregnancies. But I must admit it's odd for me, was so sick the whole first 12 weeks of my pg with ds.
Anyone else had ms in one pg and none in another?
Cravings: still flapjacks and cheese.

PrePG · 07/02/2008 12:39

Welcome back DG - glad to hear that the bleeding has not gotten any worse. Best of luck to you at your scan tomorrow. Remember, some women just bleed for no reason and go on to have very healthy pregnancies. Unfortunately, it seems that there's no telling with this pregnancy gig - anything and everything is either normal or not

2excited2sleep · 07/02/2008 12:58

ipanemagirl - I had no sickness with my first 2 ds but with my dd I was sick for almost 15weeks! Sometimes we just get lucky enough to avoid that one.

Hope all having scans have lots of lovely good news to report back. I bled on and off from 7-16weeks with ds2 and I was worried sick. Had so many scans I lost count. They couldn't tell the cause but all was fine. I know it's hard but try not to worry, pregnancy bleeding is more common than you would think.

Have a docs appointment tomorrow morning for a MW refferal. Going to ask for early scan due to mc in Nov. Fingers crossed they say yes. Can't wait to get things started so it all feels more "real"

Gem xx

mustsleep · 07/02/2008 13:11

ipanemagirl i had absolutely no sickness with ds, miscarriage inbetween with no sickness, a little sickness with dd but none once i swapped from those god awful pregnacare tablets

this time i am sooooo nauseous although it does feel to be wearing off, but tired

does anyone else keep getting awful headaches? am going to go for my eyes testing next week just to make sure i don't need glasses

ipanemagirl · 07/02/2008 13:19

Thank you mustsleep and 2excited, I feel better for that.

It is so nice to be able to come on here and hear from other people. I've still told only healthcare people and DH - it's very lonely, we're being so cautious but it would be great to be able to share it a little more widely but luckily there i mn.

Good luck for all with scans, I've got to wait til beg of March for my 12 wks one. I just wrote it in the calendar in pencil! So superstitious.

I really envy all of you who were clever/lucky enough to get your breeding in in your 20s and 30s, I would love to have some of that energy now!

mamamufin · 07/02/2008 13:22

Mimismama loved the poem message. I am so emotional right now it made me blubber.

The girls from work are popping over to see me this afternoon, as I am off work with severe ms. I know its really nice of them to bother but my mum has just told me that I look the "picture of health". Damm It! I am worried they will think I am skiving. What am I to do?

Thinking of you guys who are experiencing spotting, remember implantation bleeds are really common. Good luck with your scans.

expatmom2be · 07/02/2008 14:31

Good luck today SunshineMummy, I'm sure everything will be fine. DG welcome back, saw your other posts on the pregnancy board and have been thinking of you - great to hear symptoms are increasing and that you'll get some reassurance tomorrow. Also hope you managed to enjoy your vacation despite all the worries.

Mimismama I'd also seen it before and found it touching, but today it just about made me burst into tears at work....gotta love the hormones.

Hope everyone who's been so sick is having a better day today - I'm still battling nausea most of the time, but seem to be limiting the actual throwing up to about once a day and usually not while at work. Also think it is either marginally improving or I'm at least getting used to it as I can eat a slightly wider range of food when pressed than before.

kirstygem · 07/02/2008 14:44

MimisMama Thanks to that beautiful post I an now blubbering at my desk. As mum of a darling toddler I feel like that was written for me.
Out for a meal with work tonight which should be good as at a yummy restaurant. Major concerns about being up past 9pm though, cant see how I can do it!!! Maybe being in company instead of lying on couch will give me extra energy

hopefully · 07/02/2008 15:08

Yay, have just had the best news! Apparently I do get a 12 week scan on the NHS! Midwife phoned (unfortunately she is covering for my normal midwife, so couldn't arrange a bookng appointment, but normal midwife is workin on sat and will arrange it then).

Am so pleased, as it means I can afford NCT ante natal classes (assuming they have any places left), which I've decided I definitely want to do.

only problem is I have to decide whether I want full screening at the scan or just a straightforward dating and size scan. Any advice on making that choice anyone? DP and I have already decided we wouldn't terminate in the case of downs, but is it better to be forewarned if there is a significant risk? I'm only 25, so guess statistically the risk of most chromosone problems is low...

DebitheScot · 07/02/2008 15:35

mmm interesting that 2 of you (2excited and mustsleep) providing a bit of evidence backing up the different symptoms = different sex of children. We were discussing how true that theory is the other week.

mamamufin · 07/02/2008 15:44

So pleased for you hopefully. I think everyone should be entitiled to the same care. Erm... I did not think we had a choice for type of screening at our age. (I was 24 when I had ds and 28 now). I just went with the flow with what was given. What will be will be. (not sure if that helps sorry)..

Hey, I went to great ante natal classes and post natal classes put on by the surgery. I met 8 mums who all live close by and we still meet up once a week three years on. I went down the NCT route also, but wasnt as nearly as good and found people spread out more so harder to keep in touch. x

hopefully · 07/02/2008 15:53

Thanks for your thoughts on it mamamuffin. I hadn't thought of checking with the surgery about other ante natal groups - will ask the midwife when she calls on the weekend. I wasn't expecting a choice on what kind of scan I get either, but apparently my trust is a whole lot more useful than I gave it credit for! Will have to talk over the options with dp.

If anyone is looking to buy a pregnancy book, I love my 'Your Pregnancy Bible' by Dr Anne Deans. I have used it for both my previous preg and it has answered most of my questions. It has colour pictures of the baby week by week and a week by week guide for you too.

I definately think that my two preg were different for my ds and dd. If I had to make a guess now, judging by my previous preg, I would say that I am having a girl as my MS seems to be tailing off now gradually, where as with ds it lasted 16 weeks. We will see!

Mimismama- I too have just cried my eyes out at that message! Very good though. I am crying very easily at the moment. Tomorrow I have a 'veiwing' of the photographs we had taken of the dcs last week. We wouldnt of had it done, expecting another as we are but it was a present that ran out at the end of the month so had to use it. They said we would be there for an hour and they would put it to music. Think I will take a box of tissues as I know they got some gorgeous ones!

Hopefully- I only had the anomaly scan too, as I though we would not terminate and that I would only spend the pregnancy worrying rather than enjoying it and that worrying would not help, only make me and the baby more stressed. It is a very personal thing, but IMO unless you have any significant risks in your family/age thing then I personaly wouldnt have them. Most of them are not diagnostic and only give you a statistic rather than a yes or no so dont really help you anyway. In our family two of my DH's cousins were told that their babies had severe disabilities from scans and advised that the best action for everyone was to terminate the pregnancy, both couldnt do it and have healthy, happy 'normal' children. As I said, it is a personal thing though and what will help one person might not another.

Digigirl- Hope scan goes well tom morning, the symptoms are a good sign I am sure. xxx

Sunshine- Hope all went well. xxx

Lilypink · 07/02/2008 19:41

Welcome back digitalgirl I hope you managed to enjoy some of your holiday.

I am so nervous as I have another scan tomorrow morning, at 5 weeks there was a heart beat and now am 7 weeks. I have no idea what symptoms I am getting really as have been soooo stressed with work and have a stinking cold. My bleeding has stopped completley though and am def tired (in bed now )

I hope sunshine is ok?

imoscarsmum · 07/02/2008 19:58

Dragonhart - totally agree. Pregnancy bible is fab. Also bought rough guide to pregnancy for something a bit lighter (v v funny), shopaholic & baby (part of a series 'shopaholic &...) and From Here to Paternity for DP. He has an 18 yr old DD from a previous but thought he needed a bit of a reminder......

LittleConnie · 08/02/2008 08:38

Morning ladies I haven't posted for quite a while as have been feeling rubbish... but would really appreciate some advice this morning.

Digitalgirl and sunshinemummy big hugs to both of you and i hope the scans went well.

I went to the GP for the first time a week and a half ago at 6+0 just to book into the system. I didn't expect much from the appt and I'm glad I didn't... the dr mostly looked bored, typed into the computer and told me not to eat soft cheese and pate. Marvellous. I told him I had 2 early mcs late last year and would really appreciate an early scan, but he said it was totally out of his hands, and although he'd put in the letter to the hospital, he couldn't guarantee anything. Apparently I now get shared care between my gp surgery and St. Mary's in Paddington (i was offered others but this is the most convenient).

I got a letter from St. Mary's yesterday, saying I have my first mw booking in appt on March 25th, and it MAY include a scan. March 25th! I'll be 14 weeks by then! Isn't that the very latest you can have a dating scan? I just can't believe that after 2 mcs they didn't make the slightest effort to see me before then. I was hoping not to go private but i can't see any way around it now. I'd really love to be able to start telling family and friends around 10-11 weeks, and once i've seen a heartbeat i'll feel so much more comfortable about it. Is anyone else under St. Mary's? And has anyone experienced something similar elsewhere? Not sure if there's any point speaking to them or my dr... maybe it's just a busy hospital and they gave me the soonest available appt. I work in the NHS so I know what it's like. But I'm just a little disappointed

Thanks for letting me rant! hope you're feeling reassuringly sick but not too sick... x

hopefully · 08/02/2008 09:33

That's so frustrating littleconnie. I thought I wasn't getting an NHS 12 week scan, but finally have discovered I am. Can you phone the midwife and/or maternity ward and explain the situation and see if there's any way of getting an early scan? From other people's stories there seems to be a lot of miscommuncation around, so perhaps if you try every avenue you might get somewhere.

Man, I cannot wait for the weekend, had such a busy week.

LittleConnie · 08/02/2008 09:39

thanks hopefully... that's probably a good idea. i suppose there's a good chance that the message from the dr just didn't get through, so i'll give them a call later.

digitalgirl · 08/02/2008 10:40

Baby with a heartbeat! Baby with a heartbeat!!!

Scan was so quick, the whole thing was over in 5 minutes. He found it in seconds, said 'Yep, there's a baby in there...with a heartbeat' Turned the screen to show me, and this was the first time I looked and saw it(hadn't wanted to before, left it to DH).

I asked if he could see the cause of the bleeding and he said no and that I shouldn't worry about it anymore because the baby's fine and that's whats important.

Was quickly waved off and told to relax, be positive and remember to take my folic acid. So after a few happy tears I gave my baby it's first telling off, for putting mummy through the mill these past few weeks.

Spotting stopped yesterday, would be nice if it stopped for good...but will do my best to ignore it if it comes back.

Will now stop being so self-obsessed and read everyone's posts properly and rejoin the club. Thanks to everyone for being so supportive.

DG

LittleConnie · 08/02/2008 10:45

wonderful news!!! so happy for you digitalgirl.... you've put a huge smile on my face

ipanemagirl · 08/02/2008 10:48

great news digitalgirl, what a relief that must be!

charitygirl · 08/02/2008 10:57

SCREAM! That's great news DG, brought a tear to my eye (admittedly, that is a common occurrence around these parts at the mo).

Now, I shall go back to regularly scheduled nausea induced moaning.

PrePG · 08/02/2008 11:02

Great news, DG So excited for you!!!!! what a relief!!!!!

Littleconnie Does your local hospital have an early scan clinic? I'm not scheduled for my booking in and scan until 20 March. I saw my GP almost 2 weeks ago and I mentioned to the nurse that I was having some cramping, she sent me to the EPU at the hospital (Kings in London) right away for a scan. Had it and they saw a sac, but they want to see me again next Tuesday to make sure there's a heartbeat. I was really surprised that they were so accomodating with the scans!
