morning all, another beautiful day here in north London.
Find myself waking up early (7ish) and having to eat immediately, meaning can't go back to sleep so weekend lie-ins have disappeared.

Current fave foods include toast with peanut butter, cheddar or mozzarella cheese, plain pizzas, potatoes, rice, green veg. DH made me pancakes with strawberries on the side this morning!

Feel lucky that my nausea is managable. Hope some of you who are nearly a month ahead of me are starting to get over your ms now.
splishsplosh hope your ok

sunshine lalalalaaaaaaa fingers in ears I'm not listening...altough i am sorry you had a long labour last time.

Had my first giving birth dream last night. He was a beautiful boy with dark hair and blue eyes (like dh), and dh delivered him and cleaned him up. Weirdly checked his heart and then put it back in his chest then handed him to me. I remember thinking he was rather big for a new born especially as the labour was painless...

Am back to work tomorrow so we'll see how I cope with the real world with my extra hormones.

mamamufin · 10/02/2008 11:36

Morning girls, the sun is out in north yorks also.

I must say, You all seem to be eating a good variety of foods. I am quite Jealous as I normally love eating but am off everything. I am having to force bits of dry toast and fruit down.

I am still icky. Cant believe this has happened to me. Its nothing like my first pregnancy at all. Weird. Looking forward to scan at some point this week. I also have my bookin in with mw on thursday.
Your dream was lovely digital. I dreamt that I was having quads the othernight. It was more of a nightmare.

Splishsplosh I am thinking of you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend x

Sunshinemummy · 10/02/2008 12:02

Lovely day here in SW London too. Going to take DS swimming later (although his word for it is bintiden for some reason).

My nausea has pretty much gone, although woke up feeling really sick this morning (it feltlike a hangover) but it dissipated really quickly.

jenpet · 10/02/2008 13:42

Gorgeous here in Brittany today too. Took DS down to the beach this morning, as the MS seems loads better outside, so no housework for me today!...still really suffering even though I will be 12 weeks tomorrow, was the same the first time around, and just to add to any nervous first-timers - it's not always bad!! I went into labour at about 8am, but not really in that much pain all morning, had lunch, went to hospital at 3pm, got into birthing pool at 4pm, DS arrived at 6.10pm, so although I feel I was pretty lucky, it can be ok...although I'll probably regret saying that in 6 months time!

Enjoy the sunshine Mums-to-be! xx

Sunshinemummy · 10/02/2008 13:54

That's right Jenpet, I know loads of people who had fantastic births. I do think I was really unlucky.

It was lucky LeonieD, as I was pretty terrified too. I'm hoping it will be as straightforward this time as although my French isn't bad I imagine it will not run to translating medical jargon on the day! I would love a homebirth and can't wait to hear how you get on, it seems to be very "medicalised" over here, although I've only heard positive stories about the care other Mums have received locally - I seem to learn something new every day.
Crossing fingers we all get the birth we want this time!

mustsleep · 10/02/2008 16:16

i was induced with ds and it was not a pleasant experience so i was dreading dd's birth but my waters broke a week before my due date we went to hospital and as i was having no contractions we got sent home, by the time we got home had to go straight back (the hospital is less than half an hour away from us) and when we got back was in the delivery suite for all of 15 mins and then i had her

hmm maybe we should camp out on the door step two weeks before my due date this time if it's true you are supposed to labour faster each time

Wow mustsleep thats a real fast birth. Really envious of your experience too jenpet, you will have to be careful next time in case it just pops out!

splishsplosh · 10/02/2008 20:06

OK - I'm going to join in the stories then!

My waters broke a month early, they kept me in because of the risk of infection, and I went into labour 2 days later. It was fast - about 5hrrs, and actually felt more like 20 minutes - didn't get much help till they decided dd in distress, then it was ventouse, and she was straight off to scbu, and when I got to see her in the morning she stopped breathing when I first held her, had intercranial haemorrhage, fits... all very scary stuff. But after a couple of weeks she was fine. But I'm hoping I won't have a repeat performance! (if get that far, tough wood)

1 friend went to hospital, was told nothing happening and to go home - ended up having it alone in the bathroom talking to 999 people while her dad stood outside waiting for the ambulance to arrive!

Leonie - on a 24 hour tape they found 1 episode of ventricular tachycardia which is unusual. They seem to have considered some nasty possible diagnoses, but left me to my own devices for the last couple of years. I'm just hoping the echo shows all is ok.

I've not been good on the fruit & veg front either, so I made a veggie risotto tonight, but now I can definitely ear the call of some Ben and jerry's.

Sorry for mega long post

Dragonhart · 10/02/2008 20:10

Littleconnie- All our appts are very late here too. I dont get my booking in appt until nearly 13wks then my scan is booked after that so who knows when that will be! THink they said last time that they are only obligated to do it before 15wks and both of mine have been 14+. Very frustrating when everyone is having theirs by 12 weeks. So you have my sypathies x

Digitalgirl, sunshine and Lilypink- Glad all was well with the scans

Kel- I've been scoffing Mcflurries as they were helping my ms! Oh dear! Thanks for letting us know (third time and no-one has said that to me before-is it new?)When I was preg with dd2, I ate prawn toast when we were at a chinese and worried for weeks until I had my scan! I think pate and stilton is the hardest thing to give up for me.

Splish- Hope you are ok about dp. Must be very hard timing. xxx

All ok here. MS pretty much gone, just the tiredness now. Oh so tired!

Splishsplosh - hope it all goes well tomorrow.

icklegem · 10/02/2008 20:50

Hi ladies. Hope you're all well this evening.

Splishsplosh - I'm really sorry you're in this situation. Hope you're ok and it all works out for the best in the long run.

I've been feeling sicky and dizzy for most of the day for the last few days so looks like a good sign

Saw doc on Friday so now just wait to hear from mw. Hopefully won't be too long.

Is anyone else worried about the size of this bubba if you have had a previous big one?!

I can't help worrying about it. Mine have gone from......

ds1 - 7lb 6oz
ds2 - 7lb 13oz
dd - 9lb 4oz

I'm only 5"1!!!

I'm praying this one will be smaller than dd.

Take care ladies, Gem xx

splishsplosh · 10/02/2008 22:35

Thanks everyone, and I'll let you know how the scan goes tomorrow. I'm a bit excited but also almost dreading it in case things have gone wrong

hopefully · 11/02/2008 09:23

Grrr... Midwife was meant to call over the weekend and failed to. Am v annoyed, as I'm 10 weeks now, and have had no contat with her at all. My scan is going to end up being in about June at this rate! Do you think if I just phoned the hospital direct they'd let me arrange the scan directly or get another midwife to talk to me? Mine only seems to work 1-2 days a week.

I am still struggling so much with the commute. Decided to wait till 12 weeks to tell work, but the not being able to ask to work from home is absolutely killing me. I do near enough a 2 hour commute each way and it's so exhausting I can't believe it. Wish I could get signed off work. I keep moving the date I want to start my maternity leave further and further forward in my head!

Gracie14 · 11/02/2008 09:37

Hi all,

splishsplosh - Hope scan goes well hun, thinking of you

hopefully - I think I would phone the hospital and see if you can arrange the scan yourself, its worth a try anyway. Sorry to hear about your commute you must be so exhausted can you not just tell your boss and see if they can come to some arrangement and make sure she/he keeps it to themselves. Sorry haven't been very helpful have I.

Well had a nice weekend, mainly due to the lovely sunshine and my nausea is definately more manageable (is this a good thing??? Not too sure). I even have times where I forget that I am pregnant only for a minute or so - which also worries me. Roll on next Friday for my scan keep having awful thoughts that they won't find anything in there!!!
