Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

NH101 my friend had that buggy with her twins and they looked so adorable lying next to each other in the carrycot, they were always touching each other in their sleep. They have just moved into a 'proper' bed and still share the same one as they don't sleep well apart.

Well, after complaining that the baby had stopped moving the other day, he is making up for up today. I even felt him when I was walking, which is the first time he has been that strong. So, thanks for the support over that, and you were right - nothing to worry about!

bitofadramaqueen · 21/02/2008 22:48

tbh, she just waffles on, I'm surprised that she remembers half of what she is supposed to do! Not too sure about understaffing - team of 4 cover the area, and plenty of time for the appointment. She waffled a lot about how she wasn't very organised at home and how she needed a cup of tea because it was so cold! She did remember to give me my matb1 though so that's something.

Sybil - glad about the movements.

Upsidedowncake · 21/02/2008 22:51

Hello everyone

Sorry for all those people with SPD and achey backs. I hope everyone gets early physio appointments and starts feeling more comfortable.

I don't think I realised we had so many Londoners. I think London is great for families under school age, but I'd love to move somewhere else after that. My ideal is to live somewhere like Sophie (without all the hard work!!!!), but I guess that isn't going to happen. I live in Wandsworth - anyone else in SW London? (PP, I work in Waterloo, is that where you live?)

DLMP (can I shorten you like that?) I think DS is trying tantrums on for size so I'll be interested to hear about your coping strategies ... (It was me who had the crazy sex / gender theory - glad you are having fun!!!)

I have a confession to make. I have found an egg I like more than creme eggs ... [Upside ducks as Debs, Green fairy, Pregnant penguin et al pelt her with mini creme eggs). Black magic eggs are dark chocolate and they are really rather good. I have gone over to the dark side ...

Night night.

debinaustria · 22/02/2008 07:18

mmmm Black magic eggs sound good to me - what's inside them?

Love the buggy and carrycot NH101, I remember going to see a work colleague who had twins and they were still tiny, they were asleep in the same moses basket - gorgeous.

So sorry for all those suffering with SPD.

Sybil - glad baby is moving again - it's weird when you first feel them moving when you walk isn't it?

Greenfairy - did you have a good meal with your friends?

Sophie - how's the cold?

I used to live in Bettersea and work in Tooting. can't talk, sil here. baby is huge and very heavy

PregnantPenguin · 22/02/2008 09:01

I live in Wimbledon and work just off Cheapside. Just checked that Wimbledon fortnight is 23/06/2008 - 06/07/2008, two weeks after I'm due. Let's see if I still love living here with all the bloomin tourists then! How much tennis do you think we'll be watching this year ladies?

ernest · 22/02/2008 09:09

sil lives in wimbledon

ktpie · 22/02/2008 09:11

Morning everyone, beginning to feel that I am the only one here who has never lived in London! I live not far from Nottingham and work in the city centre. I really like it, lots of countryside around where we live but still all the benefits of being near the city (plus the big benefit of living in a fairly cheap area as far as property prices go).

Is anyone else finding that their guts are behaving weirdly? Keep feeling really bloated and uncomfortable. (Sorry if TMI!)

Got a load of creme eggs on offer in Tescos the other night, have put them next to the kiwi fruit and last night was very good and picked the kiwi fruit! Felt very proud of myself all evening!

makecakesnotwar · 22/02/2008 09:48

I live in Bromley...and used to work in Islington, though now work from right here, except when I have to go into central London for jobs/dinner with DH/drinks with friends (as with today)....I love it, and wouldn't live anywhere else. But we do get away to the Kent coast most weekends, so really can't complain. TBH after a lifetime of travel I am quite happy just to be in one place.

NH- totally love the pram/cot/pushchair. I used to look after newborn twins and the only way they'd settle was if they were physically touching...too too cute.

Sybil- good news about the movement. I seem to be regularly woken up at 4am by mine moving...lasts about an hour then she goes back to sleep! Then I spend about another half an hour going back to sleep!

Morning all- any plans for the weekend?

debinaustria · 22/02/2008 09:50

ktpie - lol at the creme eggs v kiwis

I have never lived in London, I like to visit but it would be too busy for me to live there!! I'm used to the quiet life - very quiet, actually a bit too quiet - get me on that plane to London!!!I would love a shopping trip there with unlimited funds - wouldn't that be great.

dylansmumplusone · 22/02/2008 09:52

we live in camden which i think is particularly not child friendly. i thought wimbledon would be quite good? to be fair there are some good play groups etc. around here but we live up 4 flights of stairs (plus the flight to get in the building) in a vic conversion and it's tough enough with 1 let alone 2! we will def be moving somewhere or other.

upsidedowncake i'm finding my reaction is all important with tantrums, if i'm calm they're much less harsh. and then distraction is key, complete change of subject. i'll let you know if i come up with any more gems!

i have had a headache for a week now. could this be pregnancy related? i'm trying to drink loads of water but it doesn't seem to matter. i'm not usually a headachy kind of person but it's really painful.

debinaustria · 22/02/2008 09:53

Make cakes - wonder if 4am will be a regular thing once she's born!!

No exciting plans for the weekend - changeover day tomorrow so cleaning, Sunday dh will probably ski with the boys and I'll rest ( I hope)

Morning all

Ktpie - I lived in Derby when I was at uni and loved going to Nottingham - I did a work placement there a couple of years ago and it seemed like a cool place.

Sybil - glad to hear the baby is wriggling away again. There are nights now when she starts breakdancing just as I'm drifting off and I think 'oh no' and then I remember how happy I was to feel it the first time - and how I hate it when she's quieter than normal...

Debs - the meal was good, although we were giving one of my pals a lift home and she starting talking about how she was fed up and before I knew it she was telling me she and her DH are talking about splitting! They've been together eight years and on the surface everything seems fine, but DH and I took her back to ours for some tea and sympathy and it turns out things are not great at all and she's been hiding it. I felt so sorry for her! They love each other desperately but want v different things it seems and he won't compromise so she's just been doing what he wants . So the upshot is, DH eventually took her home (star) and I crawled into bed at 1am!!! Currently propping my eyelids up, and worrying about her. God, she was so upset

makecakesnotwar · 22/02/2008 09:57

No doubt it will Debs....

DLMPO- I suffered quite bad headaches for about three weeks around the 20 week point. Apparently it's something to do with the blood flow...why some women feel faint. They do go though as I'm fine now. I do suffer quite badly with headches and migraines, so only being able to take paracetamol was bloody annoying, as it had no effect. If you are worried, speak with your GP.

nettiehay · 22/02/2008 10:14

Morning all,
I'm also a Londoner (via Australia). We are in between Richmond and Kingston, so we are very lucky to have lots of areas that aren't built up and are very leafy. Out of the whole of London (and I've lived all over) I think this is probably the best place to raise kids, as you are close enough to visit London easily, yet it seems far enough away to not be bothered by the hustle and bustle.

DLMPO - I've not had headaches, but have been feeling faint almost everyday for the past 8 weeks... I am hoping it will stop soon too, as it is driving me crazy!

Good luck to all who aren't feeling 100% - roll on the weekend!

Upsidedowncake · 22/02/2008 10:17

Morning everyone.

PP, do you get train from Wimbledon to Waterloo? I get on at Earslfield at about 8.30. I wonder if we every get the same train. I had forgotten about Wimbledon fortnight - not going to be as easy as it should be to get to Kingston. I'm due 22 June ...

Wandsworth is nice and green. It's just occasionally I get fantasies about living in a farnhouse like Sophie. We get out of London most weekends.

How was your weekly glass of booze, China? I can't drink ... I hate the taste of it now!

Debs, Black magic eggs have a dark choclate truffle in. Yummy. THey are quite like those Lindt round jobs.

Upsidedowncake · 22/02/2008 10:21

Guys, do you think I should worry? I just put a skirt on for the first time in several months (elasticated waist)

DS says, 'What's that, Mummy?' (Answer, a skirt.)
'Mummy doesn't wear skirts. Only ladies wear skirts'

Hoggle · 22/02/2008 10:26

Morning all.

Wow, loads of Londoners. I'm a Glasgow transplant living not far outside Reading at the moment. Can get to London easily for shopping etc but couldn't afford to live there I don't think!

Am keeping quiet on the creme egg front because I'd rather eat almost any chocolate than those! I'm a massive Toblerone fan, and am finding 'the baby' seems to need lots and lots .

Just this week I've started to feel a bit swollen and bloated, and a bit light-headed every so often - I'm guessing I'm starting to get used to carrying this load around, though I'm a bit freaked out to think what I'll be like in a couple of months!

Hope you all have a lovely Friday and a relaxing weekend...

ktpie · 22/02/2008 10:29

debs - I think tonight the creme eggs will be winning the battle with the kiwis!

greenfairy - Nottingham is great, I'd never been here until I met my DH but now I really like it. Sorry to hear about your friend, it's sad that they have got to the stage where they are thinking about splitting.

ktpie · 22/02/2008 10:31

mmmm Toblerone! I keep claiming it is the baby who wants the chocolate as well (not me honest)!

Josie57 · 22/02/2008 10:38

DM - you poor thing with all those stairs, I hope your ds walks up the stairs for you. Keep the tantrum advice coming as my ds (18m) is just starting to throw wobblies so I think we are building up to the tantrum stage.

Deb - I haven't lived in London either but my dad's a 'Londoner' does that count???? I've always lived close to the countryside - not rural area's but on the outskirts of v. small towns. I love it and find the hustle and bustle of big cities too much.

Paro - 14 weeks sounds like no time at all! It doesn't seem long since we were all in the very early stages and desperate to get to 12 weeks! I've always felt that pregnancy time is a warped time as it goes very very slowly until 12/14 weeks, then it speeds up a bit until 20 weeks then it starts going fast and then the last 10 weeks just disappear in the blink of an eye.

I've not got many plans for this weekend but my dh will be busy finishing off a fence and gates he has put up to try and keep our ds contained. Our garden is terraced from the patio and I have visions of our ds tumbling down the terraces as he tends to run everywhere at full pelt these days! Then if my dh has time he's going to continue putting up the polytunnel that we bought last year and still haven't got round to putting up So I guess my plans will be to provide lots of nice food to keep my him going!

On the subject of food my ds has suddenly started eating again. We've had a couple of months of him being really fussy and just not eating very much and now he is eating for England - he's still a bit fussy but for the stuff he likes he's putting away huge quantities like the 3 course breakfast he ate yesterday!!!!! I'm not complaining though as it's good to see him eating and enjoying his food!

Josie57 · 22/02/2008 10:43

LOL at your ds updsidedown! On a positive note perhaps he means old ladies wear skirts and he thinks you are too young!

My friend had a similar but different experience with her dd. She put on a skirt for a change and her dd said you look like a princess mummy I wonder if that is the difference between boys and girls?

Rolf · 22/02/2008 10:49

My boys love it when I get dressed up, which doesn't happen very often. The first time DS2 saw me in a skirt he was so bewildered he stuck his head up it!

aberdeenhiker · 22/02/2008 11:06

I'm obviously not in London I grew up in Toronto so I'm used to a big city but I have to say that I prefer smaller ones. DH is from the end of the road heading north (literally) and is not used to busy places so a small city is a good match for us. Plus we're about two minutes away from the countryside and took DS to look at a newborn lamb last week. We thought it was adorable, but DS was more interested in the rocks on the side of the road.

I'm finding everyone's posts these days really reassurring. I feel like I was doing great up until the past two weeks and all of a sudden I'm not coping as well and things are more challenging so it's really nice to know that I'm not alone.

sophiewd · 22/02/2008 11:11

Can't even get a skirt on DD, she just sits on the floor or backs into a corner and screams, real tears and tries to tear it off her, she is a real tomboy.
