Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

Right then ladies,
I'm off on my jollies in an hour or so, so I'll catch up with you when I get back. The joys of 1/2 term holidays.
Take care one and all see you in a week.

Hav fun wherever you are going.

Well that was an interesting night, DH had been to pub so was snoring well at bed time, took me a long time to get to sleep, then car headlights start shining through one the windows in our bedroom which doesn't happen, it is an empty yard used by the shepherd during the day and then the police helicopter went over, DH did wake up and then went back to sleep again snoring so again took me ages to go to sleep, very tired this morning am going to snooze well this afternoon.

josey · 16/02/2008 09:38

Morning

Debs congrats on your DS you must be so proud.

Makescakes glad you are feeling better about things.

On the weight front you all must be little matchsticks with raisin bumps compaired to me I have already gained 24lbs and I eat well not overload on chocolate or anything its purely boobs massive belly and extra padding on the rear end oh well its there for my baby and it does come off again eventually.

Sophiewd what a interesting night right enough I would have been freaking out a bit at the headlights though that you dont usually get.

I have to say the creme egg lollies although very nice where a bit of a let down.

makecakesnotwar · 16/02/2008 10:45

Josey- I didn't start off a mtchstick...and have hit the stone mark, which was a bit of a trauma. Weight gain 15lbs to date, although ate a huge plate of ribs last night, so might be 2 extra . Feeling so much better after dinner with symathetic friends, and for all your words of encouragement. [Plus also stubbled across my anniversary gift accidentally yesterday- 2 years on Monday. Didn't peek but looked jewellry-based!!!!!]

Debs- your boys sound like heaven.

Know what (who was it again?) means about conversations totally revolving around baby....doesn't mean you don't have a life/ a bad day at work/a great book to read.....

The sun is shining, off to pick up our cot then on to the beach to walk the dog. Hurrah! See you later, alligators.

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2008 10:49

sophie what a shame! Hope you get a good nap this afternoon.

Have a great holiday LL.

Josey - I'm definitely not a matchstick! Dont know what I weighed pre-pg and certainly dont know now but I'm sure I've put on a lot. I think the LO must have moved up a bit or something because bump significantly bigger last night and this morning compared to yesterday. I had such a fright when I caught sight of myself in the patio windows last night. .

DH been away mostly this week and he's back now so feeling much cheerier today. Have also been digging out all the baby clothes we've already got to show MIL; I had forgotten how cute they all were!

Have a good day ladies..

katyjo · 16/02/2008 11:04

I'm definately no matchstick!! Was overweight to start with so shouldn't put on as much as last time, I've gained about 15lb so far, really wish I'd kept a pregnancy diary last time so I can compare, reckon I will gain at least another stone but hopefully not much more.

bq - I was not maternal at all, in fact seeing babies/children when I was pregnant use to freak me out, when ds was born I can remember saying 'look at its little hands' like he was a puppy or something!! I now go all gooey over babies and I am feeling quite broody this time!

I had the worse leg cramp the other night, was reading up and apparently can be a lack of calcium, guess I better crack open the cheese! Anyone else heard this before I turn into a tub of lard?

josey · 16/02/2008 11:17

Its the sound of newborn babies cry that sends me running to the hills, I sudder when out shopping and you hear a newborn crying. DH always askes whats wrong I just reply its to fresh I dont mind my own obviously but that cry changes after about 3months.

Both pregnancies I have gained about 2stone 10bls so still have a stone to go did one of those calculators how heavy to start with height etc and they recomend for me between 28lbs and 35lbs so There is room for another stone GULP! I will get a photo taken and post it later Im sure I will make you all feel wonderful

Going to the beach this avo with the dog as well its so lovely and sunny.

josey · 16/02/2008 11:18

katyjo I have hear this as well but I eat alot of cheese so any excuse

goingfor3 · 16/02/2008 11:28

katyjo, I have been getting quite a ew calf cramps this time round. Mainl when I stretch in bed. I drink about 2 pints of milk a day so doubt I'm calcium defficent, though it makes me feel better that I;m doing it for my legs now!

josey · 16/02/2008 11:58

ok unflattering bump phot uploaded, never used the timer on my camera before

katyjo · 16/02/2008 11:59

Wow gf3 - 2 pints! is that just since you've been pregnant or do you usually have that much!

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2008 12:09

Causes of leg cramps here.

Wigeon · 16/02/2008 14:54

Hello ladies! Lovely bump photo Josey - not unflattering!

Have been enjoying seeing everyone else's bumps and scans so have uploaded 20 week scan and current bump profile pic (am 22 weeks).

Upsidedownegg · 16/02/2008 16:54

Lovely pix, Wigeon and Josey. And both of you look definitely pregnant whereas I still look chubby!

Makecakes - have just last three days of posts. I am so sorry about your MIL. I have similar with my mother, who has now cut off all ties with me for my poor behaviour (Changing DS's pooey nappy in the churchyard of St Paul's cathedral during a service ...) In many ways, it's worse when it's your MIL as you have to consider your DH's feelings too. You sound much better today.

Totally empathise with those who are feeling less than broody. I am better this time round than last time, but stil dying to get to the three-month mark so so!

And like others, now that I'm having a girl (having a DS before), I have mixed feelings. No idea how to deal with them and feeling slightly worried about losing my position as Daddy's No 1 girl, isn't that ridiculous!? I keep on trying to tell myself to treat as an opportunity for growth ...

OK, time for Upsidedown's crazy theory number 42 ... My pregnancy this time has been totally different from last time. I ADORED being pg last time - I bloomed, had perfect skin, didn't have a single cold or sniffle, and had the sex drive of a particularly horny rabbit. Even DH found it hard to keep up. I was expecting a boy.

This time, it's a girl. I've had four colds, I've had spots and been absolutely exhausted. And had no sex drive at all. DH and I have both looked all over the house for my libido, but it can't be found.

Originally, I put it down to it being winter and cold, and DH being exhausting to look after.

Now I wonder if it could be the gender of the baby. My pg OBS / GYN friend said (when pressed) that she has experienced something similar but has never heard anything about it. Says could be because of boys producing testosterone (which makes you horny), but is doubtful.

Can anyone else comment ... ?

debinaustria · 16/02/2008 17:08

Lovely bump photos Wigeon and Josey.

Very tired here, ds2 was crying all night in his sleep - there was nothing wrong but he was so loud he kept waking me up, it was like having a newborn. I've warned him if we have another night like last night he might not reach his 6th Birthday which is on Wednesday. Only joking!!

Old guests out, everything cleaned and new guests in.Exciting tea in the oven - fishfingers , chips and beans and then Dr Who.

OP posts:
sophiewd · 16/02/2008 17:23

Upsidedown, sorry to blow your theory but my pregnancies have been exactly the same which is why we were so convinced we were having another DD, only difference is I was sick for 5 days with DD, this time round felt sick for 5 days. Glad I am not the only one having mixed feelings but really getting quite excited now, and you wil seriously enjoy drooling over all the georgeous clothes for girls although DD refuses tyo wear skirts or dresses.

ChinaSurprise · 16/02/2008 17:32

Afternoon.
Have just uploaded a bump pic as thought it was about time and then looked at yours Widgeon - same top! How funny.
DQ/DLM et all. I was also not maternal at all before I got pg and would probably have never got around to a planned pgy. Just as well nature had other ideas... I still get a bit about the whole thing occasionally, but have surprised myself with how excited and clucky I've been since.
Upsidedownegg - I am at your mum - you poor woman. Am sure Jesus would forgive having to change a pooey nappy .
Debs. Your tea sounds fab actually. Egg and chips is a current fave but fishfingers not far behind.
Am 24 weeks this weekend, which feels like a major milestone and it looks like our move is going ahead at the end of March so should be settled before Little Miss makes has appearance - so all is good. Have a lovely weekend all.

ChinaSurprise · 16/02/2008 17:33

Wow, went a bit nuts with the smileys in that one

Upsidedownegg · 16/02/2008 18:17

Oh rats, Sophie, re my theory! But what about sex drive? Any difference?

Thanks for your note re baby clothes. So true! The other day, I had a nosey round the M&S at Clapham Junction. They didn't use to have baby clothes but now have all this gorgeous pink stuff and I started to get quite excited. Also, was in Peter Jones with DS on Friday and was drooling over all the little dresses.

China, love the bump pic! Must change my name back to USDCake and start my profile again. My mother has mental health problems so it's understandable that she behaves irrationally. However rational I try to be, it can be very hurtful. Much harder at this stage if it's MIL because of the complexity of the relationship.

Debs, did you ascertain why DS2 was crying?

PregnantPenguin · 16/02/2008 18:26

I'm loving the bump pictures. Feeling huge and uncomfortable this week. My scales went up into the loft (where I can't reach) when I hit the one stone mark last week. I'm really eating for two, one of us is really healthy, the other has a chocolate problem.... Two people told me how well pregnancy suits me today - but am beginning to think that blooming is just another word for fat.

Sorry to hear of the problems they cause, but must say that the MIL/PIL horror stories have been really helpful. I've been feeling a bit family-less recently as mine are in New Zealand, but now I can see distance is not always a bad thing!

DH picked up a pram today (Mothercare Trenton) that we got from Ebay - bargain at £30. Thought we couldn't go wrong even if it was horrible, but it's lovely. Really happy.

systemsaddict · 16/02/2008 20:26

My lovely hairdresser told me my bump was little and neat today - OK so she says what I want to hear but made me feel lots better after all the 'haven't you got big quickly this time' comments!!

Note to dp: When your pregnant other half is exhausted after putting ds to bed and doesn't feel like clearing up kitchen and cooking dinner, the correct response is 'What can I do to help?' or, even better, 'What's planned, you sit down, I'll do it.' The correct response is NOT repeat NOT 'Well you should have had some brains and got some ready meals in, for nights when you're too tired to cook.'

sophiewd · 16/02/2008 20:29

Right I think DD may finally be getiing the idea that we are having a baby. Tonight I was bent over her giving her a kiss and she prodded my tummy and said baby, then lifted up my jumper and stroked the bump, very sweet, and if you ask her where Mummy's baby is she lifts up her top and points at her tummy we are taking her to our next MW's appointment so she can hear it.

sophiewd · 16/02/2008 20:30

systemaddict very on your behalf

Rolf · 16/02/2008 21:05

Today I got "where have you been hiding that bump...you must be due soon". And my boobs just won't stop growing. I'm wearing old nursing bras (G cup) in bed and I am filling them so goodness knows how big I'll be when I'm breastfeeding.

I'm so excited about being pregnant! I've been trying out names by saying them to the bump and DH is worried that it's some kind of evil agenda to present my choice of name as a fait accompli. In fact, every name I thought I liked doesn't sound right when I actually use it.
