Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

SA - I hope you got that dp sorted out

PP - I love your eating for 2 comment

China - great photo

Upside down - no idea why he was crying and he doesn't know either. So far so good tonight, but of course I'm not in bed, he's bound not to start until I've just fallen asleep.

Half term here this week, so looking forward to no alarm clock.

China here - fancied a new name.

SA. Sounds like your DP needs a plastic fork in the eye
Upsidedown. Am sorry to hear of your mum's mental health problems - that does make it a little easier to understand why something so seemingly innocuous could have such a huge impact but it must be tough on you.

Debs - hope DS2 is cheerier tomorrow.

Night!

bitofadramaqueen · 17/02/2008 10:10

SA - I hope you told him where to put his ready meals...

Nice new name greenfairy!

Good and bad things from yesterday... Was lying on sofa and DH had hand on my tummy and he felt a few twitches from the baby moving; I dont think I've ever seen him grin so much...

Bad point, same DH, mostly in response to my incessant badgering agreed that perhaps, my rear end had got slightly wider but only in a pregnant way. Sob! Have had to cast aside my regular jeans that I was still fitting into with the help of hairbands and bumpbands as I simply cannot get my ass into them. Sob some more!!

Deb, hope your DS is feeling a bit brighter today.

debinaustria · 17/02/2008 14:35

HI

Just left ds2 skiing with dh so I think he must be feeling better!! I met them for lunch so that was lovely, sun was shining, snow was sparkling - a good day here.

Greenfairy - Happy new name, but don't expect me to remember who you are, I'll see the name and think we've got a new member!!

Dramaqueen - pregnancy has it's fair share of good and bad bits but the end result is worth all those bad bits!! I think maybe you should try not to do the incessant badgering approach in future because you only hear things you don't want to hear. With ds1 I used to comment to dh how wonderful it was that I hadn't got stretch marks, we didn't have a decent full length mirror and as I couldn't see them he didn't point them out - I was in blissful ignorance!(until after the birth)

Ah bless your DH deb! I'm fine honestly, if just a little traumatised .

Have spent today continuing sorting out the house, and now the baby's room (it has progressed from being called study-nursery-to-be) has now been completely cleared out hurrah! Now I just need to pick the paint and the fun stuff begins...

debinaustria · 17/02/2008 15:59

Dramaqueen - I had such fun painting ds1's nursery. It was lime green, I liked it at the time , I made the curtains, then made stencils of the animals from the material and handpainted the animals all over the walls.Took me ages - you can tell it was my 1st!!

Greenfairy, nice new name!

Debs, glad your DS is better and you had a good night's sleep. How heavenly to be able to take off skiing for the day and meet your family for lunch!

debinaustria · 17/02/2008 16:33

Needless to say I wasn't skiing - just walking and eating!!

Hello ladies,

Good new name Greenfairy.

Glad your ds is feeling better now Debs.

We did a bit of rearranging and have put the babies wardrobe up in the spare room. I filled it with all of her clothes and really hadn't realised how many she already had. I have enough 0-3 month clothes for quads! I have everything I need for babies part of the hospital back so shall pack that during the week when the girls are back at school/nursery. I keep feeling waves of excitement at the thought of having this little one.

makecakesnotwar · 17/02/2008 17:35

Hello all-had another traumatic day as dog was attacked as Dh and I walked on the beach in the sunshine. We had to fight to get her free and DH twisted his back and I have pulled my tummy muscles. Dh had to carry the poor dog back to the car and we took her to the vets who operated immediately. I was then put in sofa in front of emergency musicals with Hot choc and cherry bakewell by the DH. Happily the baby has been kicking like a demon, and I have rested up, and now have the woozy d-o-g curled up next to me. But God, what a day!

sophiewd · 17/02/2008 17:44

Makecakes that is awful, hope that you are all getting some rest and feel better soon.

goingfor3 · 17/02/2008 18:29

Oh makescakes, I hope you are feeling feeling better soon. You poor family, I'm sure you are all enjoying your cuddles.

makecakesnotwar · 17/02/2008 18:45

We're all fine, which is the most important thing!

bitofadramaqueen · 17/02/2008 19:09

Crikey makecakes, that sounds traumatic. Glad you all ok.

Deb - LOL at the lime green! I think we might go for a slightly calmer pale lemon .

PregnantPenguin · 17/02/2008 19:23

Makecakes - poor dog and you! Well done your DH. I like the sound of emergency musicals.

Deb - Lime green nursery? That is exactly the colour my DH wants. I wasn't so sure but now he's said it I see the colour everywhere and am beginning to like it. Or is that just pregnancy brain?

DH suggested taking some Demi Moore style photos of bump. Yeah right! I don't think so. But bless him for thinking this hippo is still attractive.

Thankfully local Sainsburys Savacentre didn't have cream egg ice cream lollies.

Had real trouble sleeping last night and back pretty sore today. Does anyone have any pregnancy pillow recommendations?

bitofadramaqueen · 17/02/2008 19:28

DH bought me the dream geni (or something or other)one. It is very comfy but I do keep finding it on the floor in the morning . Not yet convinced it was worth the expense, but time will tell.

Rolf · 17/02/2008 19:35

Glad you're ok Makecakes. How frightening.

I have a question for people who already have children - what are you planning to do when you go into labour? I am getting a bit worried about it. I have a feeling that the plans with my in-laws might fall apart and I'll be stuck without them. My father is local but I don't think he could cope with the children, especially DD.

Most of my friends have got at least a brace of children so they would have difficulty coming over in the night, getting my boys out to school and looking after DD.

I am hoping to book a doula so I could have as a worst-case scenario leaving DH at home with the children, but I'd hate not to have him with me.

I have quick labours and becuase I have GBS I need to get to the hospital straightaway. So my emergency plans need to be pretty secure.

Upsidedowncake · 17/02/2008 19:36

Makes cakes, how traumatic! Which emergency musicals did you watch?

Debs, love the idea of lime green for a baby's room. We painted our kitchen what we thought was a calming apple green, but has turned into a flueorescent lime green which is very hard to paint over!

Also, have uploaded a pic of my bump onto my profile page. What a chubber! Definitely not doing a Demi Moore-style pic ...

systemsaddict · 17/02/2008 19:37

Oh makecakes how scary, and poor poor dog, glad you are all OK!!

Dp has been redeeming himself today, he spent about an hour vacuuming the stairs in fine detail, lots of playing with ds, made a start on decluttering and sorting his study and is now looking after me 'cos I'm tired - so I have decided to deign to forgive him

I have been v. good with eating today too. I realised yesterday that I can't in all conscience continue to blame exhaustion on pregnancy when I'm eating sugar all day, that would knock me out even when not pregnant, so I have gone back to my usual pattern of sugary things only once a day and do feel better for it. It was hard to stick to though after months of chocolate muesli bars on demand (well, they're sort of healthy ...) Will try and stick to this as it's no good for anyone if I'm passing out with fatigue all day. One day at a time though.

I recommend the Theraline Big V pillow Pregnantpenguin - ludicrously expensive, something like £40 rrp though ebay can be cheaper, but the best thing I bought by far last time and worth every penny to guarantee a comfy night's sleep. Also endorsed by my recently post-partum best mate who had the loan of it - my, was I pleased when it came back though!

systemsaddict · 17/02/2008 19:40

Rolf, I'm worried about that too. A friend has volunteered to take ds but she may be busy, and he has never stayed with her before, though knows her and her son well (she was my pg buddy last time). My mum may come up to stay but I was really overdue last time and don't want her stuck here. I am planning to have a list of other people who can step in as plans B, C and D, but worried how ds is going to react, he's still so little - hoping it will only be for a few hours this time. But it is scary.

Upsidedowncake · 17/02/2008 19:47

I'm very worried about that too, SA and Rolf. I am going to make a list of people to call on, and as a last resort would call one of the girls from DS's nursery to come and stay.

Hoping that DH's parents will come over from the States for several weeks around the time of the birth and be able to take DS. As I was induced last time, I'm expecting to be in hospital for a while.

When I had my ectopic, I called a couple of friends who weren't available, and ended up having to call my poor father and drag him up to London. This did not go down very well with my mother.

Rolf, that doula idea is a very good one. I hadn't thought of that.

debinaustria · 17/02/2008 19:54

Makecakes - sorry to hear about your poor dog, dh's back and your tummy muscles --don't bother with the beach next time, just watch the musicals instead!!

When I was expecting ds2 , Mil was able to come over and stay so that she'd be there for him - he was 23 months, when I went into labour. She came about a week before my due date to also help us move and left the day my Mum arrived after ds was born. Thankfully she's doing the same this time but knowing when to book flights for her is a bit of a nightmare. If the worst comes to the worst I have a good friend in the village who would have the boys - she already has 6 children so probably won't notice 2 more!!

Will find out next week if having c section which is a probability, if so then problem solved, DD will go to my parents the night before, but they will or my sis or the lovely lady who baby sits for her will br available should anything happen before then. Can't remember what my DB did

ernest · 18/02/2008 07:48

morning all. back (and knackered from Munich)

deb, I had this nightmare with ds2 & 3.

With ds2 I was due mid jan. Had both parents & in laws over form Christmas, our 1st in ch. They went back for new year ... then ds2 came nearly 2 weeks early, just after everybody had left and had to call our land lady at 4 in the morning to watch ds1 & phone in laws to turn straight back around - they hadn't even unpacked yet.

with ds3, got sil over. she stayed a week . then ds3 came the day after she left .

This time I'm having a bloody section. just don't know yet what country, town, hospital........

makecakes, so sorry to read about your dog. we used to have dogs and tbh it's other dogs that put me off getting another for this reason - you can train your own but you can't control other dogs (of their owners)

hope you all recover quickly.

nh101 - those twins in slings - if you think you could manage to 6 weeks I take my hat off to you! Def meant tongue in cheek. Crazy crazy people. Apart from the fact you'd put your back out, the aggravation of getting 1, never mind 2 babies trussed up. By the time you were don't you'd be knackered, totally stressed out, one would be screaming, the other would need a nappy change/feed. No No No. def not a logical solution for twins, and those pictures must be intended as a joke. Plonk 'em in double buggy and off you go. voila. you chosen one yet?

I have put on so much weight. really and miles more than last time I do seem to need to eat pure fat and sugar 24/7 which may account for it, but don't know how to stop myself. I think the stress and running around I'm having to do rushing to bloody Milan, Munich etc etc is taking it's toll.

Sil comes on Wed with her pfb. She has told me she will be sending me an email of shopping I have to get , but she till hasn't done it, dunno how much notice she doesn't think I need, when juggling docs appt (for pg, ds2 adhd, ds3 eyes etc et - I only have 1 doc appt this week - 4 next week ). It's a full time bloody job keeping the entire medical profession in business atm.

debinaustria · 18/02/2008 09:35

Ernest you're sounding a little stressed this morning - no wonder you're comfort eating. It must be so unsettling not knowing where you're going to be.

What did you think of Munich then?

How long do you think your shopping list will be from SIL? I hope she's bringing you some things out from the UK too? Have you asked for creme eggs? We have some lovely guests driving out soon so they will bring me shopping!!

Lovely surprise in the post this morning - on that fateful Sunday that I tried to meet up with flaky friend and ds's best friend I managed to get a speeding fine on the way home. I think it was in one of the tunnels. I think I was doing 61 in what I thought was a 60 tunnel but it was a 50 . So 35 Euros to pay but thankfully no points on the license.

Off to reorganise my kitchen , just started getting a new kitchen - very slowly, one cupboard at a time, realised now that when the oven's next to the fridge it's not a good idea - aargh!!!!!Ikea here we come.
