Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

bitofadramaqueen. The boys have just eaten more pizza than I thought possible, have done some wrestling and are now watching Spiderman. DH isn't home yet. He'll be home v late and will be working all weekend, I think. It's my birthday on Sunday and my lovely brother and SiL are feeding us all.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/02/2008 19:15

Oh dear... At least you have Sunday to look forward though.

Just had my tea and thought I'd have another quick look on MN before putting the feet up, now have annoying heartburn. Hoping creme egg will soothe it .

debinaustria · 08/02/2008 21:07

Thanks for your well wishes, I feel quite a lot better actually. About to go to bed to keep up the energy levels for mass cleaning tomorrow.

I have finished all my creme eggs!!But not to worry I have Dairy Milk

Have a good weekend everyone

Expressing milk takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy although it can get a little messy! I also produced a vast amount of milk and could express 7oz in 10mins! You need to get breastfeeding established before introducing a bottle as a bottle requires a different mouth action to breastfeeding and this can confuse a baby.

Wow got alot of posts to read through! Baby is active and kicking alot, have my 3rd Scan on the 12th at 11.30am to check the baby's heart but i'm sure everything will be ok. Lovely now the sunshine is coming out and the days are warming up, must make a start on the garden.

calebsmum · 08/02/2008 21:22

Just reading back through the posts and I would throughly recommend removing pubic hair! I didn't before I had DS and when the stitches were put in some hairs got trapped and then as the stitches dried and tightened the hair got pulled, I was sooooo uncomfortable. Got a hairy belly with DS and have a hairy belly with this baby as well.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/02/2008 22:50

ouch!

dylansluckymum · 09/02/2008 09:27

oh lord i forgot about stitches.

bitofadramaqueen · 09/02/2008 10:48

I'm away back to look for the trimmer link ...

How is everyone today? Me and DH having a very busy weekend sorting out junk, re-arranging storage etc so we can start making space for the lo. How can two people fill up a three bedroomed house . We're already thinking that having one baby might mean we should look for somewhere bigger.

Will no doubt skive off later to check in on MN.

debinaustria · 09/02/2008 14:05

That's it, apartments cleaned, new guests in and happy. My back is aching now and I'm knackered. So, off for a milky coffee and a biscuit.

I only had stitches with ds1 so I'm hoping I'll get away with it this time too.

Dramaqueen - good luck with the tidying. We were the same before ds1 came along. We lived in a 3 bedroomed house and seemed to fill it! We haven't actually got a room for this baby yet, might have to divide the boys bedroom. Not worrying yet as baby will be in with us for 6 months or so but I will need somewhere to put all baby's stuff.

How many messages!?

Hello everyone - thank you for your kind messages. I am now one wisdom tooth down. It was a long drawn out saga from 11am on Thursday with Thurs & Fri evening absolute agony, but all good now! Hurrah! Considering an epidural now, had enough pain this pregnancy already..

Had my scan on Thursday morning and am over the moon to say that LO is boringly average and healthy. Also a bit of a exhibitionist, there was no way it was hiding the fact that it was a boy from us = One very happy husband. This might sound weird, but although I really didn't mind whether it was a girl or boy, for some reason I was so convinced it was going to be a girl it's taken me a day or two to really accept that I'll be having a son in 4 months time.

The scan has also made me feel very pregnant suddenly. I think my bump has doubled overnight as well. I'm quite happy about it though....

More big news, we have put an offer in on a house we really want....but someone else is having a second viewing today as well so vendor is taking their time making their mind up. Am really nervous (as well as being a first time Mum, am a first time buyer as well!).

Wow, what a long post. As a reward for getting to the end Sainsburys baby stuff (wipes, lotions, creams, etc) is half price at the mo. I've aleady stocked up.

Rolf · 09/02/2008 16:14

Penguin, so glad your tooth horror is over.

Deb - will you get any help with all the cleaning or keep doing it yourself? I can't keep my own house clean, let alone apartments too, so I am full of admiration.

Well, DS1's friends have all gone home now. They really were very good - all nice boys. I went into their room at 1am to be Very Stern and threatened phoning their parents. Apart from that all fine! It was lovely to have such a full table for breakfast but I think 6 children is a bit much! DH kept looking over at me saying "this is what it would be like to have quads"

Calebsmum - I am NOT going to think about stitches. I had them with DS1, none with DS2 and had them again with DD and to my mind they are the worst thing about the whole business. DD was a wierd delivery, so I'm hoping that I don't need them this time.

bitofadramaqueen · 09/02/2008 16:50

Penquin - so glad to hear your tooth problems are dealt with. Fingers crossed for the house purchase!

I stocked up on some baby stuff at sainsburys the other day - off to do the weekly shop just now will no doubt get some more.

sophiewd · 09/02/2008 17:34

Deb - glad you managed OK> we are full tonight but don't ahve anyone in tomorrow so will delay celaning until Monday as want to do some gardening tomorrow, it was lovely not having to do breakfast this morning.

Gald your tooth is ok Penguin.

Have a good weekend everyone else

debinaustria · 09/02/2008 20:30

PP - glad your tooth is sorted now, and congratulations on your boy. Good luck with the house.

Rolf - dh and I do the cleaning of the apartments, The ski season ends in mid April, so it will be quieter then. If I have to do cleaning nearer the time I'll have to swap jobs with dh as otherwise I'll get wedged in the showers!! But as for our house - it's way down the list!!

Sophie - enjoy the gardening tomorrow

glad your mouth is on the mend pp!

don't know if anyone's been watching the news but the fire in camden market is just down the road (10-15 min walk) from us we've had some crazy views from the balcony. it seems to be on the right side of the market so not in the lock (which is the most famous, historic part) but across the street so that's good but it's still quite sad.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 09/02/2008 22:51

Hey Rolf, sorry, didn't want to 'out' your dh on MN!! I got it wrong, actually my DH said another name not Steven and yes it does begin with S, and yes his begins with P so we are on the same wavelength!!!

P said he spoke to S on Friday actually.

Is this getting a bit too weird now??

goingfor3 · 10/02/2008 09:23

PregnantPenguin it must have been such a relief to get your tooth sorted! Great news that all was well at the scan.

I went to Mothercare yesterday and bought a single bottle steriliser, I have an electric one that fits a few but it seems such a shame to take up so much space when
I will probably only occasionally do one bottle. It also came with a bottle and as I already bought some which I found reduced in sainsburies I have more than I will ever need!

I thought I would get away without stitches as I didn't need any with dd2 but I'm not so sure after reading Rolfs message - eek

Rolf · 10/02/2008 10:44

Goingfor3 - don't pay any attention to my experience! With DD I was induced at 38 weeks (for foetal abnormality and terrified mother!) and they misread my labour notes, thought I'd been in labour for longer than I had, and broke my waters at 6cm so the remaining 30 minutes was incredibly fast and violent. No reason to think any of that will happen to me again, or to you . With DS2 I tore a bit but not enough for them to insist on stitches.

NH - well, we've definitely confirmed that we're talking about the same people! DH has just agreed that yes, he did speak to P on Friday!! Still can't decide if it's hilarious, nice or freaky! I'll definitely have to watch what I say and not post anything embarassing about DH bringing work papers into the delivery room (which he has been known to do) or ranting about instructing solicitors' skanky bundles

goingfor3 · 10/02/2008 12:28

Rolf I've got a really unrealistic veiw of what this labour will be like, I really do think it will be easy as my other were so it's good to have some reality that it may not be and I like to be prepared for the worst so I get a nice suprise when it is easy - see I can help thinking it will be easy, I need to read up on some birth horror stories!

poppy34 · 10/02/2008 17:14

hi all - just been catching up on posts from sofa. Am trying not to think about labour at all so does that count as an unrealistic view?

Anyone got any good knitting pattern ideas? The hormones seem to have expanded this week with the bump and am actually feeling all broody/nesty about preparing stuff for this little girl.

If only we could think of some names (let alone the name)..am totally stumped.

dylansluckymum · 10/02/2008 17:53

poppy i just bought the yarn to make a debbie bliss 'hooded carrying bag' which is like a knit grobag with a hood. it's from her latest baby book (essential baby) which ds is actually in. he's done some baby modelling and that book was his first job. it also made me decide to take up knitting because the stuff is so nice!

Here is a photo.

dylansluckymum · 10/02/2008 17:55

Not sure what I did with that link! Try this...

poppy34 · 10/02/2008 17:57

dylansmum -that is perfect - will go hunt it out. Did a website earlier and was put off by the amount of nylon 2 ply. John lewis here I come..

ChinaSurprise · 10/02/2008 18:41

Evening all. Yet another question from the newbie - nappy politics...
How many reusables do I realistically need? MIL has just bought all my SIL's reusables and given them to me - but there are only 13 nappies (lots of wraps, liners etc). This doesn't seem like enough to me, and MIL did say she would make up the difference, but I reckon we need as many again and don't want to appear ungrateful.
I know SIL "struggled" with reusables (although she is so hysterical sometimes it feels like anything is hard) and now am wondering if it's cos she wasn't changing them often enough or something.
Do you think I should ask MIL for more? Feel a bit cheeky but if newborns need 10+ changes a day I don't see a way around it...

ChinaSurprise · 10/02/2008 18:42

Although will use disp for the first few days for obvious reasons...
