@oceanadventurer we have the Icandy Peach (minus the travel system parts) and the Joie 360 spin car seat. Loved them both with our first so just repeating with the second.

simplythequest · 11/12/2022 20:13

@oceanadventurer we are getting the cosatto woosh travel system. I adored the range of patterns and prints they do, plus it felt super easy to manoeuvre, fold and adjust.

Margo34 · 11/12/2022 22:13

@oceanadventurer still use my Mamas and Papas Strada for my toddler, will be reusing that again for this bubba. I love ours, we live in a very urban place and it suits our needs perfectly ☺️ it's a minefield choosing, good luck!!!

Lid88 · 12/12/2022 12:12

We have a mamas and papa's occaro from our DD, which I will be reusing with this baby - it is so robust and has withstood some crazy terrains (we live in the countryside!) so would highly recommend for those looking for something with longevity :)

I've given in today and started the amoxocillin, I feel so guilty increasing the already increased allergy risks in baby but it's been 6+ weeks now of this awful cough and sinus pain and I just can't take anymore! anyone else had antibiotics this pregnancy?

Longbin · 12/12/2022 12:18

I was told amoxicillin was completely safe in pregnancy. I was taking it during the 2 week wait

LauraA31 · 12/12/2022 12:40

@Lid88 im on my second course of amoxicillin in 4 weeks, i feel terrible but it’s better than suffering for longer with my chest.
I am just eating loads of natural yogurt to build up the goodness again 🙂

Lid88 · 12/12/2022 12:45

@LauraA31 Oh that is a great shout, I will also look into probiotics as I always gave them to DD when she'd had an allergic reaction as a baby to help her gut recover! Never thought about that. Praying they shift this horrific cough!

Longbin · 12/12/2022 13:15

Did whoever prescribed them to you tell you about the risks as I wasn't told about any?

Lid88 · 12/12/2022 13:19

@Longbin they're perfectly safe during pregnancy - sorry if I caused any panic or worry. What I am talking about is my DD has a severe dairy and soya allergy, with bad eczema etc too, and there's been quite a few studies over the years that show the use of antibiotics during pregnancy can increase the chances of this being the case - with us already having one with these allergies we understand the chance of this baby having them too is quite high, so I was just concerned about doing anything that would increase that chance even further.

I hope that makes sense! from a safety perspective the GP advised they're absolutely fine to take at any point of pregnancy.

Melissa2023 · 12/12/2022 17:59

Hello all! Checking in again - will send a PM about the whatsapp group at some point but currently absolutely shattered all I've done the past two days is sleep, had a milestone birthday at the weekend and I think all the socialising took it out of me.

In other news I've had a chat with the consultant today and she recommended I consider an elective c-sec as I have a complex migraine condition and if it kicks off during labour it could be problematic, I hadn't even thought about it really so wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on whether they're deadset on one way or the other?

@oceanadventurer we're going silver cross reef - fell in love with it early on and it has the suspension for the shocking country roads around here

unicornpower · 12/12/2022 18:46

Hey! I’ve been so rubbish at messaging on this thread, I am reading though. Had my 20week scan today and we are having another little girl! I’m so over the moon with two girls. My husband is so outnumbered!

@oceanadventurer we had the silver cross pioneer originally but it wasn’t for us, it was so heavy that it was just uncomfortable to push and we live in a town. Luckily we only got it second hand and my mum bought us a nuna mixx which I adore. So light but is completely fine over any terrain, we’ve taken it to the beach, cities and had it out in the snow yesterday and it was perfect! We didn’t get the travel system but I recommend the pram.

Im a bit stuck with what to do with our pram. My DD is 15m so will be almost 21 months if baby is on time, she’s not walking yet and I’m pretty sure she won’t be able to walk any real distance at 21 months without a backup pushchair. I love my nuna but it’s not adaptable to a duo so I don’t know whether to swap it for a double pushchair or just try and muddle through for the first few months as DD will be in nursery during the week so I’ll have the baby on her own anyway! Id rather not swap until I absolutely have to but we don’t have space for two prams lol

lj2022 · 12/12/2022 19:00

@Pommy1 sent you a PM for the WhatsApp group xx

Margo34 · 12/12/2022 20:32

@unicornpower carrier or sling for the newborn and pushchair for the toddler? My pushchair isn't adaptable to a double either so that's what I'll be doing. My toddler is older and will be 2.5y (30m) when baby arrives and has been walking since 13m but still needs the pushchair.

unicornpower · 12/12/2022 20:54

@Margo34 is a carrier recommended in summer? Just thinking she’s a spring baby so the carrier may be too hot?

allfurcoatnoknickers · 13/12/2022 02:10

@unicornpower I had a summer baby and he was in the carrier all the time. Just used to pop him in in a vest and he never overheated - I had a thin-ish wrap though.

Margo34 · 13/12/2022 08:38

@unicornpower yeah carrier will be fine. You can get lighter ones for summer and mesh ones too if you're worried. For all 3 days of summer we get in the UK 😂

Skylark1990 · 13/12/2022 09:05

@Melissa2023 how often do you get the migraines? Do they last a long time? Are there things that could trigger one? It could be worth figuring out the risk of getting one during labour and balancing that against your birth wishes. If it were me I would probably still aim for a natural birth (although I haven't had a section before and only had two migraines in my life so definitely can't fully relate to the question!) but have it agreed that if you get end up getting a migraine, you have the option of going in for a emcs if needed. As it wouldn't be an emergency in terms of baby's safety(if just to do with the migraine) it could still be relatively calm and you could basically have two birth plans, one which considers the c section. But of course you'd need to weigh it all up and figure out of this is possible, and what the wait would be like for the emcs once I'm labour. Also things like an epidural could take the pressure off with labour while you recover from the migraine.

unicornpower · 13/12/2022 09:11

@Margo34 ahh great thanks! I will look for a lightweight one, I have the ergobaby360 which is quite bulky!

BeingHappy · 13/12/2022 10:44

Just checking in. Did anyone need to have a GTT test? It's to check your body metabolises sugar appropriately. They take fasting bloods, make you drink some (A LOT!) of sickly sweet sugary drink and then you have to sit for two hours.and then they take your blood again. You aren't allowed to walk because it might impact how your body processes the sugar...

Here's my little moan:
Anyway, I'm sat here waiting for them to take my bloods again and I'm in a room full of ladies waiting for the same thing. It's stifling hot and I'm feeling queasy from the sugary drink and the lady next to me has taken her shoes off and har her bare feet out :'( and another has brought her little toddler with absolutely no books or toys or snacks for him so the poor bubba is screaming his head off.

Margo34 · 13/12/2022 14:11

@BeingHappy oh dear that doesn't sound much fun! I haven't experienced the GTT myself. I hope you're free again now. How grim for the other lady to get bare feet out - that would make me wince too! And who takes a toddler out without something to occupy them?! I wonder if her test was sprung on her so she wasn't prepared maybe? Hope your results come back quickly!

Oh gosh, I was so grumpy earlier today. It was a fasting test where you couldn't eat from 8pm the night before, so apologies for my hangry rant! I won't find out the results for a couple of days but I think I was eligible to do the test because I have an overweight BMI.

Margo34 · 13/12/2022 20:40

I would have been ravenous with not eating since 8pm the night before! Don't know if you or many others here have found it but my god, hunger - when it strikes I need to eat NOW! My DH said it must be like living with him 😂

Made my first purchase today for new baby - a bit of clothing! Feels so early to be buying for baby already though, almost felt like everyone was looking at me suspiciously in the shop 🤭 22w though so I suppose not too early 🤷

oceanadventurer · 14/12/2022 07:56

Thank you for all of the pram suggestions....we have decided to go with the Nuna pram 😊

Shopping is on hold for me. I tested positive for Covid last night. Has anyone had it during their pregnancy? It feels like an awful case of sinusitis. Did you inform your midwife straight away? I am 23+2, the baby is kicking away and moving in their normal pattern.

Longbin · 14/12/2022 09:12

@oceanadventurer sorry to hear you are unwell. I had it a couple of weeks ago quite badly and the midwife wasn't interested

Lid88 · 14/12/2022 14:04

Hi all

hope you’re all keeping well? I’m on day 3 of the antibiotics and still feel awful!

This one might be TMI but anyone else’s pelvic floor gone to shit? I mean mine wasn’t perfect after having DD but since being pregnant again it’s awful! I have a bad cough as well as sickness and literally everytime I cough I pee - I’m single handedly keeping Tena lady in business at the moment and it’s really getting me down! I hope it all goes back to normal!
