Same here too, 5 week old has been really unsettled with constipation and reflux. If anyone has any tips for constipation pls let me know

TFMinx · 30/12/2022 04:40

DD must've been feeling under the weather as last night she suddenly decided to have 7oz in one sitting! We went to bed at 11:30 and she's woken up at 4:30 - 'tis a Christmas miracle!

roobearbaby · 30/12/2022 09:15

@tfminx how lovely!

We had a miracle in our house too. JJ slept for a 4 hour stretch. Woke for 15 minutes of boob and then went back down for 3 hours!!

TFMinx · 30/12/2022 11:09

Hooray! The power of sleep eh, @roobearbaby?

CurlyNo2 · 31/12/2022 05:11

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is ok. How amazing to hear some of your babies sleeping longer at night. We’ve had a couple of long stretches too, not tonight though, baby has been awake since 2am!

Does anybody have the wonder weeks app? I recently downloaded it and apparently he is going through his first leap so it explains the fussiness he’s having.

We also got our first real smile that wasn’t wind or the weird sleep stage. Makes all these tough times worth it.

Laneymoo · 31/12/2022 11:13

Our LO is definitely going through a fussy phase/leap/growth spurt. My sister took her for the night last night so that we could get some sleep. DP was up all night with her the previous night. My sister said she was much more settled and slept well in between feeds. Still woke quite frequently but was more content ie no screaming crying. Still holding out for these longer stretches of sleep!

greenerfingers · 12/01/2023 08:46

Hullo ladies,

How is everyone getting on? I feel like normal life is slowly resuming but at a slower pace than usual. LO is 6 weeks now and I'm back to the rounds with my eldest. I'm starting to feel the difficulty of juggling two now, quickly rushing to get things done while the baby naps or being held up by an unsettled baby. All in all though it's been a much nicer time than with my first.

Laneymoo · 12/01/2023 20:00

Hello @greenerfingers glad to hear you're enjoying your time more although I can't imagine what it's like managing two!

Our LO is 9 weeks now and she's much more settled. She started sleeping through the night since Friday but then she had her vaccines on Monday and has been a bit fussy in the evening time since then. She has been waking once overnight since which isn't bad at all!

Hope everyone else is doing OK!

TFMinx · 12/01/2023 21:08

Hello again! DD is 8 weeks now and sleeps from 10:30 until 6:30 - the opposite to DS was! She's poorly at the moment and so off her milk; I think it's just a cold with a bad sounding cough, so I'll see how she goes. Our gp is quite dismissive when I've been (I'm not anxious, the times I've been she's had a rash and so phlegmy she's struggled to breathe).
DS adores DD, it's wonderful to see and we're very lucky that we've got such a kind and caring little boy Smile

TFMinx · 13/01/2023 07:39

We ended up going to A&E last night and poor DD has bronchiolitis Sad. I feel terrible. She's been allowed home, but we have to keep a very close eye on her and to go back if she worsens.

Laneymoo · 13/01/2023 19:35

Aww sorry @TFMinx I hope she improves soon!

TFMinx · 13/01/2023 20:23

Thank you @Laneymoo she been admitted earlier today. I'm currently at home with DS whilst DH takes a shift. The doctor has said it's a mild case, but they're keeping her in for observation and to be tube fed as she was refusing her bottles.

Laneymoo · 16/01/2023 20:26

How's your LO now @TFMinx? Has she been discharged yet?

TFMinx · 17/01/2023 07:01

She was discharged on Sunday, but is still really poorly; hasn't stopped coughing and is only slowly upping her milk intake. To be honest I don't see any difference from when she was in and needed oxygen. Might have to take her back.

NotAdultingToday · 17/01/2023 08:07

Im really sorry to here you lg is unwell @TFMinx do you think you will take her back in?

OP posts:
Laneymoo · 17/01/2023 08:23

Well you know her best so go with your gut!

TFMinx · 17/01/2023 09:52

Well we're back on the children's ward. I called for advice and they recommended that we come back in, so here we are. Had basic obs done and so now we wait.

Laneymoo · 17/01/2023 14:11

Keep us posted 🤞🏻

NotAdultingToday · 17/01/2023 14:46

Oh bless you sending you and her love ❤️

TFMinx · 17/01/2023 16:22

They've recommended that she stays in overnight (again) and has been put back on a feeding tube. It's horrible but necessary. Please be careful everyone and look out for bronchiolitis symptoms: it's absolutely not fun in any way!

mjb0616 · 17/01/2023 17:24

@TFMinx how are you doing? I hope your little one is getting better ❤️‍🩹 so sorry to hear she has been unwell. It just goes to show you should trust your instincts.

We have struggled with our doctor being dismissive. My sons birthmark was growing quickly, but couldn't get anyone to see him in person. Now 4 doctors later, he has one on his head, one on eyelid and a huge haemangioma that is over his forehead and obstructing his vision. So now under care of alder hey children's hospital. Just wish I had pushed more earlier on :(

Hope you get some rest x

TFMinx · 17/01/2023 19:58

That's terrible @mjb0616 hope your little one is ok ❤️

Laneymoo · 22/01/2023 13:26

How are your babies now @TFMinx and @mjb0616?

mjb0616 · 22/01/2023 13:58

Hi @Laneymoo ,

Alder hey have been really good! His vision is okay thankfully. We are now being monitored by ophthalmologists, but due to be seen by plastics to start him on beta blockers to try and reduce the size and stop further growth.

Unfortunately as the gps were so slow to refer, we have not yet seen a paediatrician. We are waiting for the urgent referral appointment so he can be systemically evaluated, as I believe they can have more of these haemangiomas internally.

Very annoyed at the delay in referral as we could have started treatment weeks ago when it was still small, but now he may be scarred for life :(

Hope you are getting on well with your little one!

Laneymoo · 22/01/2023 16:11

The delay in referral is very frustrating but at least you've got the ball rolling now. My LO will be 11 weeks tomorrow and we're getting on well thanks. She's fairly consistently sleeping roughly 11pm to 7am and feeding well and becoming more and more interactive every day which is lovely so I can't complain!
