@Cuppasoupmonster without going into the full story I was bullied and shamed into an induction when I was a terrible candidate for one (I'd had meetings with the matron to put a plan in place due to a history of SA and it was all over my notes not to induce me to go for a planned section IF there was a reason for early delivery), baby wasn't ready and neither was I and as predicted I didn't progress past 2cm and my midwife, who was lovely, took pity on me and called a different surgeon in to take me for a section. I had private hypnobirthing tuition, lots of birth prep with her, I felt ready for it. I knew all about "the white coat effect" and I didn't have to anything I didn't want to, she went through the language that can be used and I was taught the BRAIN acronym to use before decisions were made. But honestly, I crumbled when faced with a specific consultant at 38+5 weeks who shamed me into compliance and silence, I just folded like a deck chair. This time however I have an advocate and I've had therapy and I'm stronger, it won't happen again I won't let it.

What is your MLU like? I'd love to use ours but it only has 4 rooms so I'm not getting too attached to the idea, luckily they seem to be open to me using it providing nothing else pops up that makes me more of a high risk,. Ours is attached to the hospital but has its own entrance so I could avoid the hospital all together! Bliss. I'd also love to use the pools but will see.

Had my dating scan today finally!!! Measuring 13+2. Due 22nd April 😊

NT measurement was nice and low at 1.4mm.

The photo was quite a good one and a very clear shot of the nub. Guesses from people who know about this nub theory?

I had a quick google and think it seems like a girl nub. I already have a 4 year old DD ☺️

@Gilm0reGirl oh that’s awful, I know what you mean about consultants - they seem to exude such authority that even strong characters find it hard to disagree with them. Mine is a woman; but she’s quite stern and head teacherly and I’m already worrying about how she will accept my ‘demand’ for a pool on the MLU if I can avoid the drip.

I feel as somebody who is a second time mum they should be listening to me as I know my body and what is likely to happen, and what I can cope with. The problem is the vast majority of women with my medical history have c-sections so they’re a bit dumbfounded at what to do with somebody who has had a VB, there’s not much history to go on from other patients!

@Cuppasoupmonster that’s what I thought as well. My DD would be VERY pleased if it’s a girl. Be interesting to see if it is later on. Either way I’m happy though. DD is just obsessed with girl babies cos apparently there cuter and she doesn’t like boys 😂

feels very surreal how much it was moving around in there and you can’t yet feel it. Hoping this sickness starts easing up soon. 2nd trimester. I can’t believe it ☺️

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/10/2022 18:37

Aww! My DD says she wants a baby brother - not sure she knows the difference tbh but we’ll see if she gets her wish this week!

Thanks for all the lists, ladies - super helpful! ❤️

DBS94 · 17/10/2022 19:03

Has anyone here had to have an internal ultrasound throughout any pregnancy? I have one on Friday and feeling quite anxious especially as I'll be 15 weeks, everything feels so swollen and sensitive down there

Deek88 · 17/10/2022 19:11

Hey everyone! Catching up on the thread and can’t remember if I posted this or not so sorry if I have already

12 week scan last week and interested to see any nub guesses…

Just got my downs/Edwards and Pataus screening results back, downs - 1 chance in 77861 and then the other two - 1 chance in 100000, pretty happy with that 🥰🥰

appleandcheese · 17/10/2022 19:32

@DBS94 I had an internal ultrasound at 9 weeks, it's nothing to worry about at all. It doesn't hurt, just relax and focus on the seeing your little one on the screen. ☺️

LauraA31 · 17/10/2022 19:37

@DBS94 i have had two, one at 5+3 and then one at 8+1 because of bleeds.. I was so scared to have one but it’s not painful; it’s strange and a little uncomfortable but not painful at all.. you quickly forget what’s happening when they show you the screen 😅

DBS94 · 17/10/2022 19:38

Thanks ladies! How long does it take roughly? They've given me 45 mins for my appointment surely it's not actually in there for that long 😂😂

It's to check my cervical length do you think I'll be able to see little bubba?

Missgemini · 17/10/2022 20:20

@xalexandra that’s great news. I also got the letter today. Lowest possible risk for all 3 as they report it at my Trust (<1 in 10000 for downs, then <1 in 100,000 for the other two). Only problem is that they obviously cannot guarantee the result.
I’ve paid a £25 deposit for the NIPT before finding out the result today. I don’t know if it would be silly to still go ahead in this current economic climate!

appleandcheese · 17/10/2022 20:26

@DBS94 was only a few minutes for me, and that was with checking baby, ovaries and tubes. I would have thought they will check baby whilst there too.

That’s awesome!! ✨✨✨

lj2022 · 17/10/2022 20:38

@Lapin387 I think it's just down to preference I'd prefer to use a Bath seat in the Bath and I wouldn't use the sink so each to their own. The one I'm looking at removed from the stand and is small and pretty inexpensive so I'd rather just be prepared for if I ended up with a section so I can do the small things that are important to me like bathing.

xalexandra · 17/10/2022 20:39

@Missgemini Brilliant! Yes it's a tricky one but with it coming back (although no guarantee) with the lowest risk is such a positive for you 😊

xalexandra · 17/10/2022 20:40

@Indianna2006 lovely scan pic! 😍

Pommy1 · 17/10/2022 20:42

Good evening ladies! I hire you have had a fabulous day!

@Springblooms08 I’m going away 3-4 months after due date, long haul too. I think it’s easier then but I’ll let you know 🤣

@Cuppasoupmonster @Skylark1990 thank you so much for lists, and everyone else who added their thoughts, I’ve copied and pasted everything so I can google. I’m working full time, organising house renovation, moving, due to work overseas, studying for a new area of my work and I don’t even know what a Muslim cloth does (until today!), so thank you. I did bite the bullet and bought my first baby grow today so hopefully that’s broken the seal…this is happening!!

Boots have bio oil on sale at the moment if helpful.

@lj2022 I’m researching one that picks up distress rather than sleepy noises as several of my colleagues needed that to avoid interruption.

@allfurcoatnoknickers my dog wouldn’t leave me alone in the early days, he’s even get between the laundry basket and washing machine opening so he was wedged in with me 🤣

Pommy1 · 17/10/2022 20:42

@Indianna2006 my date buddy! I’m due then too!

Longbin · 17/10/2022 20:57

My local aldi has Next2me in store for £70! There were a few baby bits so might be worth taking a look

allfurcoatnoknickers · 17/10/2022 20:57

@DBS94 I've had loads! In the US so they scan you all the time and I had some complications with my first pregnancy so had scans at 7, 9 and 11 weeks. Plus I get ovarian cysts so I've had a few for those too. I've never had one that lasted longer than 10 minutes and that was after a cyst burst so they were being super careful. Pregnancy more like 5 minutes tops.

The scan wand is really slim - probably about tampon size? But a bit longer. You can barely feel it, I always found the worst bit was the freezing cold lube they put on the end. Someone on here once referred to it as a "dildo cam" and now I always refer to it as that in my head with an internal snigger.

Tubbytele · 17/10/2022 21:13

@DBS94 I've had it a few times due to an ovarian cyst and I echo what the others have said that it may feel slightly uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful.

@allfurcoatnoknickers dildo cam!😂I'm going to remember that now lol
