@OttilieKnackered i also don’t have symptoms at the minute, I do have a bit of a bump (more in the evenings) but I didn’t show anything with my first until I was over 20 weeks. I feel completely fine in myself now other than very vivid dreams every night!

Before we know it we will not be able to sleep because of little feet in our ribs and all of this worry will be a distant memory! 😍 xxx

Emeal123 · 28/10/2022 20:51

@Skylark1990 i had flu a couple of weeks ago and GP told me to take paracetamol every 4 hours which I did for a solid 3 days. I also took some cold and flu tablets before realising they were not safe in pregnancy (they did not say on the box) so had a mad panic and called the GP and midwife advice line who reassured me baby should be fine but only to stick to paracetamol in future 😅 xx

Chocolat · 29/10/2022 09:05

@Skylark1990 Paracetamol has been used for years and a lot of pregnant women have used it and babies have been fine. GPs definitely suggest to use it as the safest medication. The benefits outweigh the risks by far x

tattlytote · 29/10/2022 09:09

I'm a prescriber and have literally never been told of any issues with paracetamol in pregnancy!

Tubbytele · 29/10/2022 12:14

@Skylark1990 I took paracetamol when I had covid while pregnant with DS, and recently took paracetamol when I had a cold a few weeks ago. It made such a huge difference when I couldn't take anything else.

Cuppasoupmonster · 29/10/2022 12:20

I would take it Skylark, especially now we’re well into the second trimester. That said I wouldn’t take it unless the pain was bad enough (that’s obviously a personal call) I’ve had some aches and pains since being pregnant and haven’t taken it yet. If aspirin helps you could take that - im taking it every day as a blood thinner for the pregnancy anyway! So it’s definitely safe.

I know what study @Skylark1990 is talking about and it's really really new so wouldn't have filtered down into the medical professionals yet especially as it's still being looked into. It'll probably be years before they come to a conclusion on it too or it'll
get buried. Personally I think it's personal preference, if it worries you and you can manage without then do that.

A BOY to add to the mix! 💙💙💙
soooo crazy as I was so convinced it was a girl!! Found myself only looking at girl names and girl clothes 🙈 Now I’m completely outnumbered #mumofboys 😂💙 gorgeous active baby chomping his mouth up and down (hence open mouthed pic)

@DBS94 same due date & both having boys 🥰

@Emeal123 ahhhhh a wee boy 💙 I feel like we are having such a similar journey!! Congratulations lovely xx

Cuppasoupmonster · 29/10/2022 16:13

@Emeal123 congratulations 💙

Skylark1990 · 29/10/2022 17:57

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on paracetamol! ❤️ I also looked at the bumps leaflet which was v reassuring. I will take it when /if the pain is bad enough. It's so annoying having chronic pain even when it's not awful, it just wears you down!

Congratulations on your little boy @Emeal123 ! 💙💙💙

@Cuppasoupmonster I can't take aspirin as it would make my stomach issues worse, unfortunately! 😵‍💫 I know the smaller doses are fine in pregnancy like you say but the normal dose isn't recommended. Oh well x

Tubbytele · 29/10/2022 18:06

Congrats @DBS94 and @Emeal123 :)

Emeal123 · 29/10/2022 18:09

Thanks everyone! @Cuppasoupmonster This will be my second child so not too outnumbered but with my OH it’s 3 to 1 lol xx

DBS94 · 29/10/2022 18:34

Has anyone else been feeling cramps & pressure? This is my first pregnancy and I'm not sure what's normal and what's not! I've been trying to stay off my feet as I've had bad back pain so feel like I'm aware of every twinge 😂

AliceinSlumberland · 29/10/2022 18:39

Ahhhh @Emeal123 congratulations how exciting!! What made you convinced it was a girl? Everyone was saying girl to me as I was craving all sweet things but nope, definitely a boy!

@DBS94 i think everything is normal at this point!! I’ve been get lots of digestion system pain, feels like I’m constantly needing to pass wind 😳 and then this afternoon walking the dogs I was getting stitch like pains.

Melissa2023 · 29/10/2022 18:55

Welcome to the boy club @Emeal123 ! Huge congratulations.

17 weeks today for me here 👻 - I wanted to know if any of you have settled on what you're doing pram/travel system wise? Had a good day today and yesterday so took advantage of it and got myself off to the shops to have a look at them whilst I had chance. FTM here so ANY input would be massively appreciated

DBS94 · 29/10/2022 19:09

@AliceinSlumberland I've had bad wind too! And the veins that have appeared on my boobs 🫣 crazy!

Pommy1 · 29/10/2022 20:34

AliceinSlumberland · 27/10/2022 21:22

Awwww yay @DBS94 welcome to the boy club!! How exciting 💕 isn’t it all starting to feel very real!!

Guys I’m looking for a bit of reassurance and before I say this I know I’m being silly but I can’t help how I feel. Went to put on my largest pre-pregnancy jeans today that I’ve not worn for a couple of weeks and they’re really tight. Like, won’t be wearing them again tight. I do a sport and my sport leggings are too tight too. I’m 16 weeks at the weekend but I’m a FTM and all the posts online about when FTMs started to show are people saying they wore there normal jeans and leggings until 20+ weeks. I’m worried I’ve just gained a lot of weight and it’s not baby, it’s chub!! I used to skip meals a lot pre pregnancy and was more active than I am now so it’s possible I have gained weight. Did anyone else on here start to get uncomfy in their normal clothes at around this stage with their first?

I’ve ordered some more loveleggings maternity leggings and some sporty ones too so at least I’ll be comfy but can’t help but worry I’m piling it on!

@AliceinSlumberland i was doing World championships in May, training twice a day and incredibly lean. I had to stop all exercise completely with no reverse recovery time metabolically and I’d say my body composition has changed a lot, my fat percentage has increased, and I’m too big for most of my clothes at 15 weeks now. I’m not quite in maternity clothes just yet but I’m in big joggers and T-shirts mostly. I know how to eat in line with my expenditure and I’m growing too and similarly to you so I don’t feel you are doing anything outrageous. You know yourself if you are being a piglet picker pants. I’m used to being tiny and I just remind myself that getting nutrients to the baby is priority, we all know how to diet don’t we If we get a bit too fluffy by April ☺️

MamaMenna · 29/10/2022 21:43

On the weight gain front I know it isn't for everyone or it doesn't work out for everyone, but if you are able to breastfeed it really did help me slim down afterwards. I'm a person who easily puts a few pounds on and am not naturally vigilant at exercising and I ended up a stone lighter than before I got pregnant without doing anything to deserve it. I was sure I would end up bigger too, especially in the immediate postpartum I couldn't imagine being slim again, so I was pleasantly surprised. It was a complete lifestyle change too from full time job to full time mum so I guess there are a few variables.

@Melissa2023 I'd pick a few brands you are interested in and go to their websites and familiarise yourself with their range, then you'll get a sense of how different models vary and what their USPs are, then you can start to figure out what's important to you and how they compare. Brilliant if you can go see them in person too and get a feel for them, I had to do it all online 🥴

Tubbytele · 29/10/2022 21:47

@Melissa2023 with DS we had gone with a travel system as liked the convenience of transporting DS straight from car without having to take him out of his seat. We did this knowing that we would have to buy a new car seat once he outgrew the travel system car seat which we did and will now not need to buy any other car seat for him. When going out for walks we used a carrier a lot or the travel system pram/buggy.

Pommy1 · 30/10/2022 05:41

@Melissa2023 im starting research too so I’m sorted for Black Friday. Storage is a factor for me as the house I’m moving to is very shy in storage. Some are zipper changeable and fold flat so you don’t end up with the bassinet needing more storage room. I also want sturdy for county walks but also light as I’m a city girl(and steps up to my front door) 😅 there goes my storage as I’m mentally buying several prams right now. 🤣

DBS94 · 30/10/2022 06:39

Ive got my eyes on the silver cross travel system pram and then going to get a swivel car seat for when baby grows out of the car seat from the pram I think. I'm going to look at a few others and go to the local park centre after 20 week scan as I drive a Mini Cooper so need to make sure it fits 🤣 although my husband has a big car so we can always swap on days I need to take baby in the car. I really don't want to give up my wee car I just love it x
