@DBS94 congratulations!! 💙

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 11:43

@cheekysausage fizzy drinks are fine! I probably wouldn't have litres of the stuff every day but one or two totally fine - plus you can get some that are a bit less sugary/dont have artificial sweeteners e.g. san pellegrino, appletizer - and just watch out if they have caffeine added not to go over that limit if you are also having coffee/tea :)

@AliceinSlumberland you've had lots of reassurance already but just to chime in - with my first I was in maternity clothes by 14 weeks! I definitely wouldn't worry, everyone starts to have the physical symptoms/show at different times, but perfectly normal to be getting a bit rounder already, and the proper 'bump' will show itself very soon I'm sure, if it hasn't already! Remember your blood is also basically doubling in volume, we retain more water which can cause us to get a big bigger even if baby isn't that big yet, and it's also very normal to put on a bit of fat as it helps keep baby warm etc <3

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 11:46

Also, hi everyone :) Hope all well today. I'm looking forward to the weekend as DD is home sick today and I'm trying to juggle her plus work (failing miserably - on mumsnet aren't I!).

Glad I'm not alone with the WEIRD DREAMS - last night's was just as vivid but it was actually a nice dream so that made a change. Ofc I can't really remember it - only seem to remember the nightmares!

I've ordered some love leggings now seeing as you all rave about them 😂I have plenty of leggings already from DD's pregnancy, but they are all quite thin, so hoping it's still a good investment.

@DBS94 congratulations on your little boy and glad all is well!

I’ve spoken to a consultant. They’re happy to give me the ELCS at 39 weeks (after giving me a long list of what could go wrong 😅).

Due to the preeclampsia last time they’re giving me extra blood pressure tests from 28 weeks and extra growth scans at 32 and 36 weeks as my first was only 4lb 7oz. They’re giving me a daily aspirin dose too.

They've also noted down that if I go into labour early I still want an ELCS which I’m relieved about!

MamaMenna · 28/10/2022 13:08

@PuddingBear that's good news! We're they saying they wanted to do it before 39 weeks then? I also want ELCS but haven't had a chance to raise it yet

PuddingBear · 28/10/2022 13:22

@MamaMenna Yes, very good news! I was worried I’d have to fight for it.

No, they said they wouldn’t do it any earlier than 39 weeks unless there was a problem. Last time I had preeclampsia and unexplained bleeding so they induced at 36+6

OttilieKnackered · 28/10/2022 14:39

Hi all.

Haven’t posted for a while - life has been very busy and stressful.

Looking for a bit of reassurance really. Now my nausea has subsided I sometimes don’t feel very pregnant at all. I have a bit of a bump but I have also been eating a lot and wasn’t exactly flat of tummy before. I keep
half expecting to be told I’ve imagined it all.

From the outside I def just look fat and not pregnant. My 16 week appointment is not til I’m almost 18 weeks so I’ve got heard heartbeat or anything and it’s nearly four weeks yet to my next scan.

It also feels like everyone has felt kicks or movements as well and I’ve felt nothing.

Does anyone else worry they’re not pregnant any more? Or just not really feel it?

PuddingBear · 28/10/2022 15:04

@OttilieKnackered Unless it’s your second (or third/fourth) pregnancy, it would be very rare to feel the baby kick yet, don’t worry!

I was over 20 weeks before I felt my firstborn!

It’s also worth noting that not all hospitals hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks, some are later. Mine was much later.

I know it’s easy to worry but just enjoy this bit - the second trimester is the best part!

OttilieKnackered · 28/10/2022 15:25

@PuddingBear this is my first (or my first that has made it past 8 weeks anyway). I kind of KNOW it’s early to feel anything, but it seems so many are feeling fluttery feelings or bubbles or whatever. Maybe they’re all second+ timers.

I am massively relieved to be pay the nausea and do just want to enjoy it but it’s so hard. Plus almost everything else in my life (housing, job, family health) are so challenging at the moment, I think I’m just waiting for the next thing to go wrong.

I am very envious of women who manage to focus on and enjoy their pregnancy.

Longbin · 28/10/2022 15:31

@OttilieKnackered I didn't feel anything until over 24 weeks with my first so you likely have a while left yet to be honest. I haven't felt anything yet either and I'm 17+4

OttilieKnackered · 28/10/2022 15:33

@Longbin thank you to you and @PuddingBear. It’s really hard not to focus just on all the people sure they’ve felt movement already!

Its nice to hear clear evidence that I needn’t worry yet.

alwaysseeingstars · 28/10/2022 15:46

@OttilieKnackered sorry to hear you've got a lot going on, please try not to worry (so easy to say, impossible to follow!) - the midwife told me at my 16 week appointment that she wouldn't be concerned unless someone hadn't felt baby move at 24 weeks - but she also said this is not unheard of either!! I did get to hear the heartbeat but she also said this wasn't the norm with our trust - it was only due to me being in hospital for other reasons that she did it to check that everything was ok. Look after yourself, it's a very confusing time being pregnant for the first time - I'm questioning and doubting everything! xx

Longbin · 28/10/2022 16:29

@alwaysseeingstars I went just over the 24 weeks so they wired me up with the pink and blue bands to monitor baby and could hear that everything was fine! I barely had any movements throughout though which was really annoying

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 16:39

Hey guys quick question, do the love leggings stretch out a bit?
Mine have arrived and they fit well but they're quite snug and worried when bump gets bigger they might not! Also the waist band is quite solid if you know what I mean. Hoping they'll stretch out as don't think I'll return, as I had to pay for postage. I prefer my usual size 12 as someone said not to size up but now wondering if I should have!

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 16:40

I ordered my usual size*

alwaysseeingstars · 28/10/2022 16:41

@Longbin oh wow, that must have been quite stressful for you! Hopefully this baby is a bit more active!

Gilm0reGirl · 28/10/2022 17:39

@Skylark1990 they stretch out with wear and then shrink back in the wash, but stretch out again

MamaMenna · 28/10/2022 17:49

@Skylark1990 mine stretched out to mould to my shape and got a lot comfier, I was a bit worried when I first put them on.

Cuppasoupmonster · 28/10/2022 19:22

Well you’ve all converted me to loveleggings, I’m going to buy a pair on pay day!

TGIF 🥵 my first week back at work, I’m part time for a few weeks but gosh am I tired. I feel very weak after 8 weeks of debilitating HG and it’s still there on a low level, I feel like it will take some time to get my energy levels back.

17 weeks today 🥳 20 to go! 10 days and I will be halfway 😊 although obviously I would rather have a healthier pregnancy and go into labour naturally, the silver lining is that I have a clear end goal. I’m just not a happy glowing pregnant woman 😂 so it’s nice to know when to expect the birth and have that landmark in my mind.

@Skylark1990 how is your DD feeling?

DBS94 · 28/10/2022 20:09

Sorry been MIA past few days I've been crazy busy at work. Love catching up on all your posts 🥰

Has anyone has cramping/twinges? I'm 15+4 and had some lightening cramps in my stomach on the right hand side. Nothing too painful but enough to wince and only goes on for a second then comes and goes. Not sure if it's ligament pain or similar? Baby has been very active in all our scans so wondering if I could be feeling him jumping about x

@OttilieKnackered, sorry to hear it's been stressful lately! If it helps, I don't really feel pregnant at the moment. It's very easy to forget during the day, especially at work. No nausea, back to normal energy levels and not even getting up for a wee in the middle of the night anymore! Kind of feeling same as before apart from a bit of a bump, which is not big at all, but definitely there. I think it's supposed to be a good thing and a bit of a relief/honeymoon period of pregnancy, but hard to enjoy before you can feel the baby move and and be reassured! I keep convincing myself that I sort of feel the flutters, but not really sure how they're supposed to feel!

Emeal123 · 28/10/2022 20:43

I’m a bit behind and just catching up

@AliceinSlumberland ive not worn any pre-pregnancy jeans since 6 weeks! had major bloat which I thought would go down but then turned into bump! I’ve lived in leggings but my friend just gave me a pile of maternity jeans, they are too big on the bump at the moment but will be trying them again in a few weeks! With my DS I managed to wear my jeans almost all the way through just had the extended fastenings but this time round I’ve got no chance can’t even get them up! (I’m 16+3)

@DBS94 CONGRATULATIONS a boy how exciting!! I love having a son 💙

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 20:45

Thanks both ❤️ @Gilm0reGirl @MamaMenna I decided not to wear them yet and will see how I feel tomorrow, may return and get the size up ... Tricky to decide but they're definitely very nice quality!

@Cuppasoupmonster she's not very good poor thing, has a bit of a temp that comes and goes, and a chesty cough 😕 I am hoping she starts to feel better soon - it seems to be a bad cold that's sweeping her nursery. Nights have been rough the last week!

Skylark1990 · 28/10/2022 20:48

What are people's thoughts on paracetamol? I will speak to the doctor about this too and I know generally it's considered ok but there was that study recently about how it might not be?

I've been having stomach pain (linked to an issue I've had for a while but thought has gone - now seems to be back grrr) and I'm going to try to sort it out through diet but sometimes I really need the pain relief. Paracetamol does seem to help most of the time but I'm scared to take it while pregnant... I've taken it about 4 times since being pregnant I think!

Also for those taking extra magnesium, what dose are you taking? X
