@Margo34 I hated every second the first time round, and I hate every second this time round too. I was never excited, except by the thought of not being bloody pregnant any more. I am...not very good at the being pregnant part to put it mildly.

Adore DS though and love being a Mum, but do not enjoy the gestating - the endless months of nausea and vomiting, the getting fat and having none of my beautiful clothes fit, the not being able to eat and drink what I want, the poking and prodding and needles and endless hanging around at the doctors - I am not a fan.

Skylark1990 · 24/10/2022 08:29

@Margo34 you're definitely not alone (as you can see!) - and having had multiple losses too, I think this feeling could definitely be a defence mechanism - I often say things like 'when baby arrives, as long as everything goes well, in April' etc. I am starting to feel more secure and excited now but I think the first 15 weeks or so were honestly one anxiety after another - and some people cope with previous loss / trauma through detachment and/or worrying about other stuff so placing the focus on something else but the brain is still worrying. I am actually seeking out counselling through my midwife and also through work as they offer it for free - even though I'm feeling better I want to have some fresh tools in my mind if I do (inevitably lol) get anxious/worried/sad again. I felt quite a lot of sadness about stopping breastfeeding too - I know you have been breastfeeding through pregnancy, are you still feeding? It could be that if you are stopping/your milk is changing, the hormones from that are also affecting you.

@Cuppasoupmonster My FIL has said openly loads of times he wants a boy this time so totally know how you feel! Similarly to @Gilm0reGirl his 3 grandchildren so far are all girls but he had 3 boys, so think he just finds it hard to fathom, plus he was one of boys, his dad was one of boys, his nephew has had two boys - the 'boy' gene is apparently 'strong' lol but not this generation, for his sons at least as two of them have had girls! I would be so happy with two girls and so would DH but we'd also be very happy with a boy - I honestly have no preference... people are always projecting stuff onto us, it's the same with parenting choices, birth choices, etc and I guess we just need to try to let it be water off a duck's back. It's annoying though!

AliceinSlumberland · 24/10/2022 09:08

I totally relate to the feelings of worry and struggling to be excited, it’s such a slog. I can see my body changing but I can’t help but wonder am I just overeating?! It doesn’t help that even though I’m pretty much a normal weight to begin with I have a B shaped belly cause of pcos so I definitely don’t have a nice round bump, it just looks like more flab.

PiggyBean · 24/10/2022 10:18

I'm also feeling quite anxious due to previous losses too. Finally told family yesterday and even then I'm always worrying. Doesn't help when I'm a natural worried too.
I also feel really flabby and wondering if there's a small bump underneath the flab 🤣 certainly feels a bit firmer than before

PiggyBean · 24/10/2022 10:19

*worrier not worried!

xalexandra · 24/10/2022 13:43

Every tiny thing I worry about, this is my first successful pregnancy. My last pregnancy was a miscarriage so that's all I have to compare it to which makes me worry about everything rather than be excited at the moment. I'm almost 15 weeks. Hopefully when I get to around 20 weeks, I'll find some excitement 🫣 I feel really guilty saying that, but all I seem to have at the moment is the extreme nausea still and anxiousness of everything!

tattlytote · 24/10/2022 13:52

I'm not overly worried about the pregnancy itself but the vulnerability of the situation has sent my long standing health anxiety into complete overload. Can't tell you the number of 'what if its cancer' I've had in the last few weeks. I have some medical training as well so then just torture myself about the 'what ifs'... my poor DH deserves a medal for putting up with me. Was up since 4 o'clock worrying about a skin lesion which I'm pretty sure I've had for years but is suddenly a BIG DEAL in my headSad
Unmumsnetty hugs to anyone having a difficult time in their own mind.

DBS94 · 24/10/2022 15:23

@tattlytote I could have written your post myself, this is exactly what I'm like too! Ive always been a very chilled out person who never suffered much anxiety but I had horrendous health anxiety during lockdown which came out of nowhere. Things calmed down and now it's back with a vengeance since being pregnant! I don't thinking working from home helps the situation for me as I have a lot of time for my brain to over think!!

tattlytote · 24/10/2022 15:32

@DBS94 sorry you're suffering too. It's absolutely exhausting trying to fight your own mind and reason with yourself isn't. I've definitely just lost the plot now. In my head this skin mark is now 100% cancer and has 100% spread and I can't have scan or treatment while I'm pregnant so I'm 100% dead... all this and I haven't even seen the GP yet 😂😂 I laugh about it but it's horrendous.

Chocolat · 24/10/2022 15:51

Sorry to hear about everyone’s anxiety. I also feel the same and feel this pregnancy is dragging now, 17 weeks today and still over half of the pregnancy to go!

on the bright side I had my midwife appointment today, and got to hear babies heart beat 🥰

Pommy1 · 24/10/2022 17:11

DBS94 · 23/10/2022 20:45

@Pommy1 love your attitude and mindset!! Great way to be ✨

My outlook almost faltered today, mind 🤣

My first nhs scan was supposed to be today. I haven’t had one check up or scan yet and I’m 14.5 weeks. They had cancelled my scan and had no idea why. A full day off work, no scan and no explanation. I’m out of the country for 5 weeks this week so not ideal. The lady was very apologetic as it was just a mistake, and I appreciate they happen but as fars they are concerned I’ve been sat with my £5 piece of plastic for 10 weeks with no checks or support.

Crazy times ladies. Crazy times!

love to you all and your supersonic bad ass beans! Xx

Emeal123 · 24/10/2022 17:27

Eek I’m totally behind on the chat and defo want to catch up on the names convo, my OH has a name for a girl and for a boy he loves but I’m just not sure about either 🤣 we are going to find out the sex next week so will discuss it more then which will save 50% of the debate lol

hope everyone is doing ok and the horrible sick and tired symptoms are mostly passing xxx

Emeal123 · 24/10/2022 17:29

@Pommy1 ohhh that’s frustrating about the cancelled scan! Do you now have to wait until you’re back in the country? It will be so amazing when you eventually see your baba! Oh gosh I’m guessing you don’t know if there could be more than one in there either… ;) Xx

Emeal123 · 24/10/2022 17:31

I’m DESPERATE to start feeling movements, have many people felt their baby move yet? I know it’s still early and didn’t feel my DS for 2/3 more weeks yet and even then that was little flutters

Longbin · 24/10/2022 18:17

@Emeal123 I haven't felt anything internally but felt something from the outside. It might have been digestion though. I'm 17 weeks now with an anterior placenta

PiggyBean · 24/10/2022 18:27

@Pommy1 oh no that's so rubbish your scan got cancelled at the last minute! Hope they can get you in when you're back in the country!

@Emeal123 nope don't feel anything yet but as it's my first I guess i probably won't for a while

Anyone getting full quickly these days? Past few days I've been so hungry but I can hardly finish my plate cos I'm full already. Was looking forward to my dinner tonight too 😂 guess I need to cut down on my portions! 🙈

Biscuitsplease · 24/10/2022 18:27

@Emeal123 I haven't felt much yet, I thought I felt something about 10 days ago but haven't since. I heard the heartbeat on Thursday at my 16 week appointment and the midwife said it does vary a lot when people feel something but normally by 20w you'll have felt something which put my mind as ease a bit as I was a bit worried!

For those that have ordered loveleggings, how is it for sizing? I'm not sure what size to order!?

MamaMenna · 24/10/2022 19:27

@Pommy1 you've had nothing and now will be away 5 weeks? That's extremely frustrating, I would not be happy. Are you going to have to go 5 more weeks? At least a quick doppler check for peace of mind would be wonderful if there is any way it's logistically possible. Did you say you'd done nipt so you've had that reassurance?

I never ever get to the shops in person but went today and now have kitted myself out with maternity basics, I feel like a new woman having more than one option for my bottom half haha.

@Biscuitsplease I'm quite reliably a 12 in trousers as long as they are cut for curves and not skimped. I thought at first my love leggings might be a tad on the small side, but have been wearing them a few days and they have softened up nicely, i would say the fit is true to size for me. Really nice and thick too, they aren't going to sag and I might even wear them with something that doesn't cover my bum.

Pommy1 · 24/10/2022 19:34

@Emeal123 @PiggyBean there’s no way I’m waiting until I’m 20 weeks for them to sort out their bookings. I’m going tomorrow after a long and unnecessary battle. Hopefully I can pop some photos in for you guys 🤗

PiggyBean · 24/10/2022 19:37

@Pommy1 that's good to hear that you're able to go in tomorrow, look forward to seeing the scan photos 😍 just rubbish you had to deal with all that though

Pommy1 · 24/10/2022 19:59

I’m back with another discount code haha

Head/Hair accessories on sale, and also discount code JOSIEREP10

alluringbows.bigcartel.com

they are super cute! SME too so I want to buy from there. 😀

Melissa2023 · 24/10/2022 20:31

@Emeal123 I won't lie I've had a few moments where I catch myself laying in bed in the dark holding my breath to see if I feel/notice anything and then feel like a bit of a nutter! Can't wait to feel him - though have my 16 week midwife appointment on Wednesday where I hope I'll get to hear his heartbeat, super excited!

Emeal123 · 24/10/2022 20:57

@Pommy1 so glad you have a scan tomorrow! So exciting xx

Ok I need to be more patient on the movement front I’m just excited for when it happens 🥰

Marshmallowmountain · 24/10/2022 22:12

Has anyone got restless legs?? Have been out for a walk this evening to try and help but still driving me mad 😭

MamaMenna · 25/10/2022 04:32

@Marshmallowmountain not yet thankfully but I did last time towards the end. I used a lavender scented magnesium body lotion and it seemed to help
