@Lid88 I've had this "pain" before. Although not during pregnancy but it sounds identical. I was told by a doctor that it's a type of cramp in the muscles between the rib bones. If it's the same it hurts to breath but you have to breath through it until the "pop" release of the pain. Really weird

@AliceinSlumberland congrats! 💙 such a lovely feeling once you know the sex!

@LauraA31 lovely scan photo 🥰

PiggyBean · 20/10/2022 18:42

@AliceinSlumberland congrats 💙 glad your NIPT results came back as low risk

@LauraA31 lovely scan photos x

AliceinSlumberland · 20/10/2022 19:13

@LauraA31 I think for me the clincher was that the quad is less accurate and doesn’t test for all three, it’s only downs I think? So they said we’d have to wait till 20 weeks at the anatomy scan to know about the other two and it was those I was more worried about to be honest so went for the NIPT. Since then though I’ve found out quite a few of my friends had the quad and all was fine.

DBS94 · 20/10/2022 19:51

I'm so sorry if this is TMI...

Has anyone noticed things are a bit puffier than normal downstairs? I've just had a shower and tidy up down there for my scan tomorrow and my pubic bone and surrounding skin is so puffy!! What a glamour pregnancy is 😂

ancienthouse · 20/10/2022 20:13

2nd+ time mums - what are you planning to do with your kid(s) when you go into labour?
My family live 4 hours away, and I'm new to this area so I don't really know anyone locally. I think my best option might be to call my family once contractions start and hope they can get here before I go into full blown labour, otherwise DH will be sitting with DD in the hospital carpark!!

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/10/2022 20:49

Evening ladies. Congrats on scans and on your baby boy Alice 💙

Crappy day here, just felt so spaced out and groggy for most of it, threw up making DD’s dinner and had to put myself to bed where I am now. I need to get up and do the washing up in a moment as we are out for the day tomorrow and need to leave quite early.

No NIPT results yet!

@ancienthouse I think I'm going to ask my nextdoor neighbour to sit with my LO until grandparents can arrive to take over. We became really close friends with our neighbours during lockdown and have a fabulous little supportive community around us, but both mine and DHs families live hours away too. Plus my neighbour is a nursery practitioner 😍🙌

My labour last time was so long though that family would probably have time to get here if I ring when contractions start though! 🤷

Margo34 · 20/10/2022 20:54

@ancienthouse what about a home birth?

LauraA31 · 20/10/2022 20:54

@Cuppasoupmonster that’s rubbish about your NIPT results not retuning! I’m excited for you for them to come back!

Well; I broke out the 4head strips because the headache is absolutely horrible tonight 🤦🏼‍♀️
The strip has fallen off more times than it has stayed on 😂

Me and the boyfriend have had a google at nub theory whilst looking at our scan photo, boyfriend just looks at it blank but took a random guess of girl too 😂

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/10/2022 21:03

@LauraA31 im going to guess boy for you 💙

the beauty of being induced is you get a fair bit of notice! Luckily for us PILs are just down the road and will take DD for a couple of days if needs be.

@Cuppasoupmonster oooo i have had a gut feeling of a boy from the start! X

@Cuppasoupmonster oooo i have had a gut feeling of a boy from the start! X

I've had a gut feeling I'm having a boy and I had a dream I had a boy. But everything else points to girl - nub theory and all the old wives tales! I'll find out in a couple of weeks anyway!

ancienthouse · 21/10/2022 08:49

@Margo34 I can't really have a home birth, I think I'd be too anxious in case something went wrong. I'll be trying for a VBAC and home births are possible although not recommended, but I'm too much of a worrier and will be paranoid about scar rupture the whole time! Especially with the way the ambulance service is at the moment.

Chocolat · 21/10/2022 09:03

Morning all,

Come down with a fever and shivers since last night. Not felt this unwell for 10+ years but luckily covid -ve. Hope baby is ok in there 😩.

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/10/2022 09:21

@Chocolat DH did as well, although he’s putting on a brave face for our day out today (as am I to be honest but we’ve taken AL!), there must be something going round. Hope you’re okay ☕️

Please let me get my NIPT results today if only so I stop checking my emails every 2 minutes! How long did yours all take ladies and where did you get them done please?

@ancienthouse i think you’re very sensible although I know too well the feeling that you won’t be ‘allowed’ certain things at the hospital. Or worse, they’ll agree to your birth plan only for ‘birth pool to be unavailable on the day’ or something like that. It’s all a bit worrying isn’t it, the state of the NHS and the news on maternity care.

@LauraA31 congrats on the scan. Can deffo see the nub on your photo. I think it looks like a girl nub. Straighter and just jutting off the end.
i think mine looks girly too. Time shall tell 🥰

Telling our DD later today she is going to be getting a sibling. Exciting times.

Mummy2023 · 21/10/2022 09:39

Any guesses? Can anyone see the nub in my scan? I find out baby's gender next week x

Due April 2023 💕 into the second trimester 🍂🎇
LauraA31 · 21/10/2022 09:49

@ancienthouse we have a pregnancy journal my sister kindly bought us when we told her i am pregnant, it’s got a full page of old wives tales in there and im so excited to try them- even just for fun! I have done three so far and two of the three say girl 😂 i know they’re only for fun but it’s a bit of fun we can have together!
We find out on the 12th November so not too long to wait :)

@Indianna2006 thank you for the guess! It’s fun to have guesses, we have had a couple of girl guesses now but you are right, time will tell! Only a few weeks to go! 😅
How exciting that you are telling your DD today!

Chocolat · 21/10/2022 09:53

@Cuppasoupmonster yep definitely think there is and doesn’t help that I work with unwell people. Feel like I’ve been catching everything this year. Fingers crossed for your NIPT!

AliceinSlumberland · 21/10/2022 10:19

@Cuppasoupmonster my blood was drawn last Tuesday night, sent off weds and arrived with the lab thurs. I got my results yesterday but she rings you rather than email. I then got them emailed over. I’m in the North West and the company is called Trimester Testing.

AliceinSlumberland · 21/10/2022 10:33

Made it back to the pool this morning!! Used to swim three times a week before work and haven’t managed it since about 5 weeks pregnant. Feel good that I managed it this morning but guessing I’ll be tired later!!

Biscuitsplease · 21/10/2022 11:32

@Cuppasoupmonster I had my NIPT in Guildford, I got the call with results on the 6th working day after. I think they always call first, rather than email initially. Fingers crossed they come through soon!!

MamaMenna · 21/10/2022 11:57

I got a phone call yesterday to say nipt results are fine, but they couldn't tell me gender yet because they didn't get me to fill out my bank details or sign the right bit of the form yet, so now I have to wait 10 days until I'm home again and can sort it out. So annoying, I could know by now but the suspense continues (but obv main thing is healthy results which I'm v grateful for...)

MamaMenna · 21/10/2022 11:58

Well done @AliceinSlumberland that's great, I want to start swimming again too. 3 x a week would be amazing. I actually can do that now if I get motivated since I have child care now.
