This is very much not mum chat so apologies but is anyone suffering break outs with pregnancy or previously and rate a really good topical spot treatment?

I've been getting a few deep, sore cheek spots with pregnancy and they take FOREVER to go down x

MamaMenna · 20/10/2022 07:57

@DBS94 I use the Mario badescu drying lotion when I can feel the start of one of those deep under the skin, painful hormonal spots and would say it does work to make it not so bad and clear it away faster. Looks like it's pregnancy safe 👍

I was searching for girl names yesterday seeing as you all said girl for my scan photo. I might have the name if it's a boy though!

AliceinSlumberland · 20/10/2022 08:18

@Melissa2023 we’re pretty definite with both our names although obviously could change our mind! A girl will be Rosie and a boy Elijah.

Ladies can anyone recommend any maternity tights? I need them quite thick for work. Tried just buying a bigger size which is okay but nowhere near the comfort of my gorgeous loveleggings maternity leggings!

Longbin · 20/10/2022 08:35

@MamaMenna it's a shame people buy into it really. I knew a few pregnant people at the time when I did it and they were quoting things at me, but they unfortunately all got a bit traumatised by their birth because they saw interventions as something so terrible and were so against pain relief etc

LauraA31 · 20/10/2022 09:25

@DBS94 i have had breakouts since the start, and they’re not getting any better 🤦🏼‍♀️
No treatments but completely understand the horrible spot feeling!

alwaysseeingstars · 20/10/2022 09:57

@Cuppasoupmonster sorry for the delay just catching up! My new due date is 9th April, first time Mum & will hopefully be finding out the sex at the 20 week scan 😊

Lid88 · 20/10/2022 10:05

Hi all,

I haven't had chance to full catch up so massive apologies, work had been mental combined with parenting a poorly toddler, I feel like a broken woman!

Due date: 13/04, 2nd baby, will be finding out what we're having at the end of November as we have all my daughters clothes up in the loft.

A couple of things - I suffer with HG (delightful) it had really calmed down with my medication last week and although not feeling 'good' I felt much better than the version of death I've felt previous weeks. However, this week (14 weeks) I've felt like I did at the beginning again! absolutely exhausted, needing to nap and sleep all the time, bad sickness again. Anyone else find they felt a little better for it to come back like a sledgehammer?

Today I've woken up with a pain in my right ribs up to my right shoulder, I've had similar pain before and it only really hurts when I breathe in deeply, but in the past I've been able to breathe through the pain to 'click' whatever it is back in place but this isn't happening today. That's probably a terrible explanation but has anyone experienced similar?

Off to crawl back under my desk and hope no one notices me napping haha 😅

Margo34 · 20/10/2022 10:48

It's a big day for me today - the last day of my progresterone pessaries! 🥳🙌 I'm grateful and nervous at the same time 🙈

LauraA31 · 20/10/2022 11:24

Morning ladies! Hope we are all ok!

I have my scan this afternoon, then bloods taken just after which is horrible as they struggle to get blood from me! Going to drink loads through the next 3 hours and drink a lucozade (stopped me passing out last time) but also going to eat on the way to the scan!
Hoping for a good nub photo ha, but worried about these blooming bloods!

DBS94 · 20/10/2022 12:45

@LauraA31 good luck!! Upload a pic once you're out, I just love seeing everyone's scans 🥰 I'm the same with you with bloods. Looooads of water and I always have an original lucozade on the way to the appointment too 😂 since being pregnant I've actually dealt with bloods better. I think because there's the excitement of seeing the baby on the scan afterwards x

Thanks for spot treatment recs. going to order the Kate Somerville spot treatment and see how it is x

Tubbytele · 20/10/2022 13:15

@Springblooms08 for my first we had a travel cot also downstairs in the living room for naps which had a changing table that you place over the cot which was really handy at the start. However my DS was a big baby so after a few months the size of the cot changing table was no longer useful so do check what approximate age you can use it until.

Tubbytele · 20/10/2022 13:24

For those interested in hypnobirthing, with my first I had done an online course on birth-ed.co.uk by Megan Rossiter which I found really useful and listened to a lot of hypnobirthing audio on YouTube before sleep. Definitely helped as I did most of my labour at home and was 8 cm dilated when I went into the birth centre.

AliceinSlumberland · 20/10/2022 14:53

Well the old wives tale of sweet cravings = girl hasn’t worked out for me, just found out we’re having a lovely baby boy 💙💙 so so excited!

And even better he’s come out as low risk across the board on the NIPT, so so happy.

So my info is:
16.04.22, boy, first time mum

ancienthouse · 20/10/2022 14:57

@AliceinSlumberland congratulations!! a boy will be so lovely and glad it came back low risk too.

Tubbytele · 20/10/2022 15:17

Congrats @AliceinSlumberland , exciting news!

Pommy1 · 20/10/2022 15:41

@AliceinSlumberland that brilliant! Well done you!

i can’t wait to see more scan photos. I have my 14 week Scan on Monday so excited for that. The happiness is real right now.

KGHynobirthing (Katharine) DMd me on Instagram and we had such a nice chat. She genuinely seems to care, speaks respectfully to you even though I have no idea what’s what, and honestly so open with kindness towards you and your babies future. I’m going to purchase 100% after speaking to her and downloading the free bits and bobs of info. I like the idea of supporting her work and business too. What a legend! ☺️

Melissa2023 · 20/10/2022 15:58

@AliceinSlumberland congratulations, how exciting. And so similar to me! 08.04.23, boy, first time mum! aren't we the lucky ones!!

Gilm0reGirl · 20/10/2022 16:05

Congratulations @AliceinSlumberland 💙! Such lovely news all round with the good test results too xx

LauraA31 · 20/10/2022 16:40

Afternoon ladies, all went fine at the scan.. baby was acting up like last time and wouldn’t stay still for any measurements so she couldn’t get the measurement of the back of the neck- been booked in for a quad blood test instead at 15 weeks but me and boyfriend are debating the NIPT now instead!

Baby had bum right up against me so she also struggled dating me, measuring at 12+6 with a new due date of 28th April 2023… however midwife told me to expect that to change back to the original, only two days in it though!

Not sure if a nub is visible (don’t even know what one looks like ha) but if it is, guesses are welcome haha!! 😅

DBS94 · 20/10/2022 16:46

@AliceinSlumberland congratulations 💙💙

@LauraA31 fab pic, lovely!! X

Gilm0reGirl · 20/10/2022 16:48

Congratulations @LauraA31 I'm no expert at nub theory but I'm going to guess girl 💖 as I think it looks like quite a straight nub.

AliceinSlumberland · 20/10/2022 17:07

Thanks for the congrats everyone, is suddenly feels very very real and lovely!!!

@Melissa2023 Probably even closer as I’ll be having a section so will be delivering earlier than my due date!

@LauraA31 this was exactly my situation, couldn’t do the measurement so referred for the quad test, I went for the NIPT and for what it’s worth I’m so glad I did as just knowing everything is fine and he’s low risk across the board is the biggest relief. Obviously it’s a lot of money but for me it’s meant I feel like I can really get excited now!

Melissa2023 · 20/10/2022 17:22

@Lid88 Yes same boat here with the sickness. I had a good week or two - had gotten back to going to work and then boom back downhill week 14 and 15, tablets stopped working. Nightmare!

LauraA31 · 20/10/2022 17:31

@AliceinSlumberland i can’t remember if i congratulated you, so congratulations again if i did….. I can’t remember anything anymore 😂😂

That is what i think too, it will just give me that reassurance that i think im going to need.. the hospital were quite dismissive of the private NIPT and told me they would advise for me to get the quad test in 2 weeks and then if it comes back with any risk they give me the NIPT test for free, defiantly one to think about! It’s good that yours came back low risk 😅

@DBS94 thank you! X

@Gilm0reGirl interesting! It’s exciting to have some guesses, especially when i have no idea 🤣 x

Melissa2023 · 20/10/2022 17:44

@LauraA31 So glad it's not just me - I swear I used to have my act together - now I have to ask people if I've actually said something aloud or just thought it because my brain is apparently mush!!

We couldn't get measurements at 12 weeks but they mentioned NIPT straight away to us - it might be because they offer it privately straight through the hospital here? We decided to go for it because on the balance of cost vs reassurance I didn't want to wait but definitely something to ponder what's best for you. Low risk across the board here thank goodness and had a little excited cry at my desk when I found out he was a boy.
