@Cuppasoupmonster I was the exact same once my sickness stopped. I could have eaten McDonald's every single night!! Now I've kind of gone off greasy food and loving some creamy pasta 😂

Gilm0reGirl · 19/10/2022 19:29

Mines fruit, I ate two mangos for breakfast like a deranged beast who had been starved for days, it was not attractive. Sadly we are going into winter which is not great for fresh fruit especially not the type I'm craving which is melon, mango's, nectarines, peaches, plums and strawberries. The only good all rounder I want are apples and grapes. At least it's persimmon season! Oh and clementines they were my craving last time with DD, my DH was buying them by the crate in the end 😂

Margo34 · 19/10/2022 19:30

@Cuppasoupmonster I can't get enough pickled foods at the moment - how stereotypical! 🤣 Finished a third of a jar of pickled red cabbage today 🙈 last week was salt and vinegar pringles and a pickled onions. I had similar pickle cravings last time, I wonder if it's a sign they'll be the same gender!?

Good evening ladies,

someone sent me their must have on their Baby list and most we’ve seen on the lists from the other night but two new things were scratch proof mittens and electric nail file instead of manual clippers. Interesting ideas I thought.

how much is the next to me in aldi? I’ve seen one in Amazon for £79.99 as no aldi has them near me. It’s a babylo snuggle cuddle co sleeper with 5cm mattress:

www.amazon.co.uk/Snuggle-Bedside-Adjustable-Anti-Reflux-Mattress/dp/B08125VSJ8/ref=mp_s_a_1_22?crid=1DO6HVTRPO9K0&keywords=next+to+me+chicco&qid=1666196997&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjI3IiwicXNhIjoiMi45MyIsInFzcCI6IjAuOTIifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=next+to+me+chi%2Caps%2C277&sr=8-22

congratulations to the person in the wedding dress, not on the marriage but on eating cake for breakfast. What a winner!!

no pregnancy symptoms for me…yet. I’ve had nothing. My food preferences have changed but that’s most likely has I’ve come off pre-preg meal plan which was the same thing daily and now I can eat anything. I keep thinking it will catch up to me and I’ll get something that kicks my ass very soon! No weight gain yet but my body composition has changed for sure!! I don’t recognise myself.

i hope everyone feeling a bit off feels much better soon. ✨✨✨

Margo34 · 19/10/2022 19:36

@Pommy1 Most baby grows have fold over hands that act as mittens built in so I never bothered with separate mittens for DC1.

I use a baby nail set from Boots with small clippers and a soft nail file, never had any problems. My sister used to bite her babies' nails and that's what the MW suggested too!! 🤢 Not for me that one!

Chocolat · 19/10/2022 19:43

Talking about food, I’ve just had a big bowl of tuna rice and Oreo’s and I’m starving for another large meal 1 hour later 😳

xalexandra · 19/10/2022 19:44

I'm still put off almost all good in general, eating feels like a chore to me! I think because I'm still suffering with nausea and headaches at 14 weeks 😒

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/10/2022 19:45

I can recommend nail scissors rather than clippers. I cut DD’s tiny finger with clippers and she screamed the place down, it was awful. Baby scissors have sort of blunt edges which means they cut the nails well but can’t nick the skin.

@Margo34 that’s brilliant advice! Thank you so much. I care wait to learn all this stuff and help others too. There’s a lot to learn!

@Chocolat I’m now picturing tuna rice with Oreo’s on top 🤣🤣

ancienthouse · 19/10/2022 20:03

I've been eating loads of crisps, apples and laughing cow triangles! Like a 90s school lunchbox. The laughing cow has been a revelation, it settles my stomach like nothing else can.

I can eat most foods now but the thought of fish and curries will make me retch which is sad as they're usually my faves.

Chocolat · 19/10/2022 20:10

@Pommy1 haha I just laughed out loud 😂😂 that wouldn’t have been nice lol

…. With mayonnaise 🤣🤣🤣

ancienthouse · 19/10/2022 20:13

@Pommy1 I don't think reclined mattresses/cots are recommended by any of the safe sleep guidelines, the lullaby trust says it should always be a flat surface. I'm also really wary of stuff sold on amazon from "brands" that don't exist in normal shops because they have a habit of selling unbranded stuff that doesn't pass any safety tests.

For nails I just trimmed with baby scissors, the little tommee tippee ones are great. DD wouldn't tolerate scratch mitts or folded back sleeves at all so she got a few scratches but nothing bad, I still felt awful about it though!! The only time I really persisted with covering her hands was when she got some infected eczema and kept trying to scratch it which was making it worse.

ancienthouse · 19/10/2022 20:18

@Pommy1 also their nails grow ridiculously fast! I was having to trim them 2 or 3 times a week! And cutting teeny tiny newborn nails is really terrifying the first time you do it but then it's fine 😅

Pommy1 · 19/10/2022 20:22

@ancienthouse ah I didn’t realise it wasn’t flat. It looked the same to me. Such a shame aldi don’t have them here.

great info re. Nails. They are little weapons of destruction so the more advice the better!

Pommy1 · 19/10/2022 20:25

Someone on Instagram send me a page for hypnobirthing. The account seems like really good info and very popular. There’s a prenatal / hypnobirthing course for £45. My friend did it, got 10% off with their first order and her and a friend went halves on streamlining the content.

Due April 2023 💕 into the second trimester 🍂🎇
ancienthouse · 19/10/2022 20:39

@Pommy1 I've heard that the kg hypnobirthing is good too! A bit more realistic than some other courses.

Lots of people recommend the positive birth company but I didn't find it very positive! The woman doing it seemed to be adamant that your body couldn't possibly grow a baby too big for you but that's essentially what happened to me and I had an obstructed labour. The course made me feel like if I had any interventions then I'd "failed" at hypnobirthing and childbirth which I've now realised just isn't true, but it didn't help my mental health immediately postpartum.

AliceinSlumberland · 19/10/2022 20:43

@Gilm0reGirl just to say my cravings are exactly the same and I’m facing the same problem with what I want being out of season! Went to buy more strawberries today and there were none to be had. Im also very into cherry tomatoes! I ended up busying some of them, some apples, bananas, grapes and nectarines. Should keep me going at least!

@Pommy1 not sure how it works out financially but there are loadssss of second hand next to mes on fb market place, you’d still need to buy a new mattress but you might get a bargain?

Pommy1 · 19/10/2022 20:43

@ancienthouse This resource has free fact sheets too to encourage everyone to be more informed. There seems to be a theme in every resource that’s promoted to me by those having had experience with the health system in that just because someone with a uniform directs you one way, this is your body and one of those occasions you may wish to consider who knows what’s best.

Many many folk have “if I had my time again”, or “this time I’ll be doing it this way” approach so it’s really encouraging me to own my birthing plans unless someone with a name badge tells me my baby is at genuine risk.

PiggyBean · 19/10/2022 20:45

Got my screening results back finally, all low risk so I'm really relieved! ☺️

@Gilm0reGirl I've been eating so many clementines, they really helped when I was feeling nauseous! Bought another pack today, scared of running out 😅

Pommy1 · 19/10/2022 20:46

@AliceinSlumberland aldi have lovely baby plum tomatoes on their special offer end. I bought some today and they are lovely.

Facebook is a goood idea. I had looking on eBay but nothing local. When I move I’ll be better placed so will look in December, or do Black Friday. I’m overseas until then so can’t pick anything up anyway. I’m now eager though. I think all you guys staying has given me a kick! I still don’t believe it’s happening!

Pommy1 · 19/10/2022 20:50

Are there free antenatal classes guys? I just had a quick google and £245 surprised me.

Gilm0reGirl · 19/10/2022 20:51

@AliceinSlumberland and @PiggyBean glad to see I'm not the only fruit addict! What I'd give for a honey dew melon now...I'll have to grab one after nursery run tomorrow morning 😆 DH thinks this is another girl because I'm notoriously a savoury tooth by nature but was craving all the sweet things during my last pregnancy, do either of you know what you're having? I know it's just an old wives tale but I do find them quite fun.

Longbin · 19/10/2022 20:52

@ancienthouse I did most of the positive birth company course. I just thought it was stupid really and quite boring. Glad I didn't waste my time on the whole thing! I was put off by the whole 'your body was made to do this' mantra too, I had IVF so my body didn't do what it was meant to in the first place!
