ted - our family lives miles away too but MIL is moving back up and has found a job, just need to find her somewhere to live now so she doesnt get undwer my feet but is still close enough to help me out!!

Ronshar - my sickness is horrendous, because i have Twin HCG - sadly we lost one. I am hoping it calms down soon though else we will lose our house to washing

mariekg · 22/02/2008 10:47

so sorry to hear that julezboo

PrePG · 22/02/2008 11:19

hi all - I have a question for you.

Is anyone else not quite sure about some of their symptoms? This past week has been very strange for me - I'm nearly 8 weeks along and so far the only constant symptom I've had is sore breats. But this week I've felt more tired - but it's not the utter exhaustion I've heard/read about. It's just that if I go to bed at the time I usually do (between 11-12), I'm super tired the next day. But I've noticed if I turn in a bit earlier I'm fine. If I didn't know I was pregnant, I wouldn't even think twice about it really.

Also, I haven't had full-blown morning sickness, but lately I've felt slightly queasy in the mornings. But I don't even feel sick so much - it's just more that I feel hungry, but I can't think of anything I want to eat, nothing sounds appetizing at all.

Anyone else feel like this? I must be the strangest pregnant woman ever!!!

perkypopsy · 22/02/2008 11:28

Hi prepg I am just over 8 weeks now and my symptoms come and go - sometimes feel sick (usually when hungry but then like you I can't think of anything I want to eat) and others feel fine. My boobs hurt loads weeks 5-7 but are on and off now. I am tired quite alot - or just feel spacy e.g. drying my hair makes my arms ache(?). I asked around and symptoms seem to vary so much that there is no point in worrying

ilovebeinglazy · 22/02/2008 12:23

Hi all

Congratulations to everyone! Can I join you please? Due 16th Oct. already have a boy of just 2. Feeling tired and a bit queasy but last time got really sick around 7 weeks and dreading that.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 22/02/2008 14:04

Afternoon

I have been up since 5.15am thanks to a soggy screaming toddler and this disturbed my 3.5 yo as well so only my husband stayed in bed till gone 7am

I am surprisingly awake so far but ds after a busy morning at pre-scholl is asleep on the sofa - dragging him with me to the doc's this pm will be hard.

Still have permamnent low level nausea - and my boobs are tender (still bf dd so this is going to be an increasing issue).

Said goodbye to my Mum today as she is moving 300+ miles away - O haven't told about the pregnancy yet but will do when she is settled. It will be hard w/out her help with the kids.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 22/02/2008 14:08

God that was just a big moan - sorry

ronshar · 22/02/2008 14:14

Pops you can use some dopplers from 10 weeks. A hospital sonographer will be able to find the heartbeat from 6+ weeks. As before then there is no heart to be seen.

This is my fourth pregnancy (that has gone this long anyway) When I was pregnant with DD's I wouldnt have know I was pregnant until about 20 weeks. I was working full time as a nurse with DD1 and full time as ambulance Tech with DD2. I was still in the ambulance until16 weeks because I was hardly showing etc!!
Now I am at home full time I feel as sick as a dog all the time. I have gone off all sweet things. Although I have just forced down a bit of chocolate cake to counter balance the cheese roll with salsa.

I dont envy anyone who has to have a baby with hardly any family around. Try and stock up on baby friendly friends instead.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/02/2008 14:21

Am tired today because dd has developed another cough, which kept her, and thus me, awake for a lot of the night, and we had to get up early to view a nursery school for her. We loved it and have signed her up for 2 afternoons a week from April.

bmsa - good to hear of another extended feeder on here. Are you planning on tandem feeding if that's what your dd wants?

Welcome and congrats ilovebeinglazy .

tedmundo - does your ds drink plenty of milk now, or is that still an issue too? It is the milk that will make him gain weight at that age, rather than the solids. Dd wouldn't eat until she was over 11 months. She refused to be spoon fed at all from 7 months, so we had no option but to give her her food to eat herself, and hope that one day she would! Even now she has odd days/weeks when she hardly eats anything, but she'll usually drink more on those days. Her weight has never been a concern for us though, so I can appreciate that you are more worried than if he was well rounded with a poor appetite. Have you tried giving 'normal' food (as in not designed specifically for fingers, but just whatever you are eating) for him to try and eat himself? Dd still insists that we have the same food at the same time as her if she is to eat.

Jambers - I'd pull a rice cake to pieces and chuck it on the floor - bland horrid things!

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/02/2008 14:26

We have the in-laws about 35 mins away, but fat lot of use they are - they won't change nappies, so are bloody useless as babysitters! They did put dd to bed once for us, and when she got up the next morning, we found that her nappy was on back to front!!!!!
My parents are a couple of hours drive away, and we don't have any other family to speak of.
The hardest bit is not having dh here during the week though, so I am completely on my own. Good job we go out to lots of toddler groups for company, although some are friendlier than others.

Jambers99 · 22/02/2008 14:32

LOL about the rice cakes CSWS. He did the same thing with chocolate buttons for about 3 weeks, then ate a bit one day (obviously by mistake), and realised that they were actually quite nice.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 22/02/2008 14:52

Hi CSWS - I fed ds all through my last pregnancy and tandem fed for a couple of months (ds was 20m when dd was born) - which was useful and helped ds deal with the new baby.

I am not sure about now - to be honest I was looking forward to getting my boobs back after 3.5 and counting years of bf'ing. But dd is not about to stop now. Gotta go tears and shouting occurring...

ronshar · 22/02/2008 15:28

Crikey, all that breast feeding. I only mamnged 6 months and that was a struggle. The NHS was a crap employer when it comes to breastfeeding.

Ekka · 22/02/2008 15:28

bmsa - tandem feeding - how did it work out for you? Am still wondering about the logistics (dd is 8.5 months and though we've been through a recent sticky patch, still loves bf). Was originally planning on keeping going as long as she wants but since I found out I'm pg was considering trying to slowly stop her after she turns 1. My SIL is an extended bf, but her ds stopped bf when her dd was born (he was 2, dd is 21mths and still bf).

Mind you, this whole dilemma assumes I get through the sore boobs stage of this pg without giving up and resorting to ff

Prepg when I was pg with dd, had no symptoms to speak of, other than sore boobs (the tiredness kicked in after 12 weeks). Wasn't sick or anything . I was convinced that we'd go to the scan and they'd tell me there was nothing there and I'd never been pg.... Think I got off v lightly and loved it (really, really hoping its the same this time round)

tedmundo · 22/02/2008 15:40

cswc yes he is drinking good volumes of milk - at least 16-20ozs a day. This is the only thing that keeps me sane. I have tried him on our foods too. He just is not interested at all. I will just persevere and hope it clicks one day. Not many 20 yr old survive on milk and bananas hey?!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 22/02/2008 17:40

Ekka - Hi, Tandem feeding had its benefits as I was able to feed ds when my milk came in (and I had a couple of watermelons stuck to my chest!!) DD being new to it all and tiny couldn't latch on when I was at full engorgement - sorry if tmi. Ds took the pressure off and dd could feed after him more easily. It did only last for the first month or so as by then I had weaned ds off night feeds and feeding petered out by the time he was 22m.

This time I think dd is more determined to continue but I will cut down her feeds and get her settled fully and sleeping all night in her own bed by D-day I hope[fingers crossed emoticon).

iuseantiageingstuff · 22/02/2008 18:00

Hope you dont mind if i join in I am due on the 14 october this will be my fourth baby.

Not planned it was a honeymoon surprise our other children are ds 14 years,ds 12yrs and dd 10 years. What a shock we are happy now but still in shock.

bethoo · 22/02/2008 18:22

i am still bf my soon to be one year old and the idea was to stop at one but i am too lazy to even put cows milk in a cup!! so still at it til he stops i suppose though i hear they usually self wean around the second trimester when the mikl changes to colustrum but the first child sometimes wants to start up again once proper milk comes back!
of course my boobs are no more tender than they usually are so i am missing that symptom but hoping it is because i am still bf. anyong else still bf findig this?? thouogh they are extra painful when little man is gripping with his teeth!!

bethoo · 22/02/2008 18:23

gosh how many are there are of us now??

pepperrabbit · 22/02/2008 19:33

Hi all, I've lost count of us all - I suspect it'll be busy in the hospitals come October if our thread is anything to go by! It's quite common apparently for people to think - "oh, lets try after Christmas..." and here we all are!

Sprogstersmum · 22/02/2008 19:45

Just having a panic as nausea not as bad today as previous week - does yours come and go? Previous pregnancy ended in mc so am working myself up into a state. Are planning to tell family tomorrow and now I'm worried we'll tell them and then have to tell them we've lost the baby.
