Hello all,

Who will be next?? I have developed a constant stitch in my side/back....could this be the first sign....then again I thought that last night too, and the night before....

Once the head is engaged, can they still turn round? There's some very odd movements going on in there....Does their bottom feel very hard from the outside or just the head? Or maybe it's just my uterus muscles working out...

He's tall too, feet still under ribs, so breathing not much easier despite him having dropped...as long as he's tall and thin, just for the birth...

starlover · 11/01/2005 17:00

i have been wondering the same thing batlady!
I keep getting hard lumps poking out of my bump... figured maybe it was feet/knees/elbows??????
I really have no idea, had a good poke but was none the wiser as to what part of baby it was! LOL

fufmum · 11/01/2005 18:20

If the bump feels like a little head at the top of your uterus then yes that will be the bottom sticking out unless you have a breech!

Little squiggles of movements are probably kness and hands etc.

I feel a bit better than i did earlier but have really niggling back ache

Let's hope we get some good news soon ladies! Hope it goes your way tomorrow Artyjoe!

Well done Sassy and BigBird!

Still here, but must dash off and order the last bits and bobs for baby. Will then be able to relax, I hope, and enjoy the next ten days or so.

Commiserations to all those overdue and/or in pain - hopefully it won't be too much longer now.

artyjoe · 13/01/2005 11:18

Hi guys

Am booked in for a C section on wednesday 19th, but this is two days after due date so we are still on tender hooks! Am terrified of the section but more terrified of being induced, having a long labour to have an emergency C anyway, which seems quite a high probability. Am off to Mothercare today to get another 10 babygrows as a 5 day stay in hospital hasn't been on the cards...amazing how I've gone from a lovely home birth scenario to the longest stay in hospital! Hey ho, so long as baby is safe and I'm not traumatised, then only 6 days to go has to be good.

Off to have my hair dyed today now I know I won't be up for it for a few weeks...fingers crossed my waters don't break in the salon - eek!

Well done Sassy!

starlover · 13/01/2005 11:40

good luck artyjoe... i hope all goes well whatever happens. I'm sure both you and baby will be fine!

I am now worrying that I don't have enough babygro's! Am counting on people buying me stuff once the baby is born and we know if it's a boy or girl. If they don't then dp will be out on a shopping spree LOL

BatLady · 13/01/2005 17:09

Been to midwife and baby still has head locked into pelvis so it turns out the hard bits were his bum, knees and feet! His backside obviously a lot more muscular than mine ha ha. Have to admire the way he's packed in there so snugly, hope he's more comfy than it looks!

Am due 2 weeks tomorrow...am definitely hovering between "no, not yet" and "please come now!"
HAve very itchy bump...have tried calomine lotion which is helping a bit, in between heaps of moisturiser. Any tips?

You really have been through it Artyjoe, it's going to be fantastic soon though! A baby-filled babygro.....ahhhh.....can't wait to hear!

starlover · 14/01/2005 11:38

i have itchy bump too batlady! can't find anything to soothe it really.
Baby was VERY active last night so didn't sleep very well... am now sat here watching crap daytime tv sigh
here's a picture of my bump!
can you tell i'm bored?

Quacks · 14/01/2005 14:03

CONGRATULATIONS BIGBIRD!!!!!!! JUST READ YOUR NEWS!!! WHERE'S YOUR BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!

Pagan · 14/01/2005 14:09

Congrats Sassy & Bigbird!

9 days to go for me - always feel like it's about to happen during the night then next day I'm fine. Bump must have moved further down though coz previous pains are not so bad now, thankfully. On the down side I keep weeing myself at inopportune moments!

Dophus · 14/01/2005 16:53

Still here too. 38+5 and very uncomforatble.

Itchy bump - I alos have one and have found the best thing is to keep it aired (fine at home - p'raps not the best in Tescos). Other than that I have been rubbing aqueous calamine in which seems to help a little.

ArtyJoe - glad to hear you sounding quite positive about a C Sec - I also face one as the baby is breeched (see separate thread). I'm not handling it very well and swing between decisions to try for a natural birth and going straight for the elective CS (between a few weeps).

Congrats to those who have popped and good luck to those who haven't.

fufmum · 14/01/2005 17:24

I am due in 2 DAYS!! and have a feeling i am gonna be here for a long time. I know it's normal to go over with your first but i have really had enough now

My parents have gone to wedding today, my dad is the bestman and i have had to stay home as i can't very well go with my slippers or catapiller boots on my bloody feet, nothing else fits! And i'm not sure the bride would appreciate me turning up in jogging bottoms either. So here i am bored and fed up, whoever said no news is good news obviously wasn't waiting to give birth!

I hate being so grumpy all the time but i am uncomfortable and feel like i am going to burst. I'm also very worried about being induced if i go any longer than 26th. Ok i'll stop whinging now, hope to have some news next week!!

artyjoe · 15/01/2005 16:56

Hi Dophus

Know what you mean about changing your mind, every single day we discuss the natural vs C section route but C section wins every time because although a big operation, baby and fanny come out much better than if shoulders get stuck..I am due to have a huge baby!

We have spent the day organising again, now have three nappy stations with baby grows, nappies, etc, beds made up for me so if I want a sleep on any floor with baby then I can...we are assuming a long recovery so as to make the house mummy AND baby friendly. All we need now is a baby

Three days to go for me, still feels like weeks but am getting there. Hope everyone else is okay and counting the days off xx

artyjoe · 16/01/2005 12:07

Fufmum, one thing I've found is telling the 'wellwishers' that 'oops sorry, didn't I tell you, I gave birth three weeks ago' really sends home the message. It's very sweet that people care so much but it makes you feel like a walking womb and as if you are not under enough pressure and counting the minutes, people ringing 'expecting' you to perform can really get on your t*ts. You could always do a general text and say 'oops I got my dates wrong, baby not due for another 10 days' which will buy you time.

I found myself praying out loud to God today in front of my DP rather loudly saying 'just give me a F*ing contraction'

Well done Mosschops

Schmozer · 16/01/2005 14:07

Well done Mosschops!

39+1 today by my dates (hospital EDD is two days later for no apparent reason). Still having problems with my legs giving way and have been a little tearful, but other than that feel great. An itchy bump must be horrid - I remember how awful itchy breasts were earlier on, so much sympathy to anyone suffering.

I washed all the new babygros yesterday and keep laughing at how tiny they are and then crying to think there will soon be a baby in them. All the bits we ordered have started arriving (we're last minute merchants here) and it's such fun unwrapping everything and finding a home for it. Just managed to stop DH trying out the baby bouncer for himself, and am pathetically pleased at how well our cellular blankets coordinate with the colours of the bouncer. As if baby will care!

artyjoe · 16/01/2005 18:31

Schmoozer, know how you feel...found DP last night in the playpen trying out the babygym!!!

starlover · 17/01/2005 10:57

for all with itchy bumps!
calamine and glycerin cream... they sell it in boots. worked wonders for me! The first relief I have had from this in weeks.

Dophus · 17/01/2005 11:08

Still here 38+4

Everyday I think I have signs of labour but every day they disappear again. However...
3 weeks ago I was 1 cm dilated
cervix is effaced
I had my show about 10 days ago
Powerful runs of Braxton Hicks contractions
My guts are in turmoil
I have been nesting (or at least have the urge, pull everything out of the cupboards and then have a severe energy crisis!)

Are there any more prelabour signs!!! Today I just feel uncomfortable, horrendously tired and weepy (still can't decide whether to have a CS or go for a natual delivery). I just want the critter out now!
