depressing visit to midwife today. It wasn't my usual one, it was an Irish lady who I couldn't understand and I didn't like her very much (nothing to do with the being Irish.. just didn't like her).

Anyway, 2 weeks ago baby's head was partly engaged... now apparently s/he has had a change of heart and is not engaged AT ALL!!!!!!! can they DO that???? can it just decide to reverse a bit and un-engage their head??? This isn't fair! Am SO disappointed!!!!!!

Argh! I just want it to arrive... NOW!
They're still insisting on saying my due date isn't until the 31st (based on a dating scan), even though I am sure it's the 25th and at subsequent scans the sonographer said that it looked about a week further on.

The stretch marks are appalling now... cocoa butter seems to have stopped working and the entire underside of my tummy is huge red marks

I just want my baby here.

artyjoe · 18/01/2005 10:25

HI Starlover, hang on in there, two weeks to go worst ways. I know this sounds like forever as I've only just got to '1 day to go' and that took forever so I know how you feel, but I also found that once I resigned myself to it being 19th then the days did pass faster.

I also wouldn't worry about the head being engaged or not, when she/he decides to come it will take all of five minutes to get in the right position and start tunnelling out.

Try and use this time to get organised, we made up milk yesterday and washed, sterilised, made formula etc and used the travel system and all the bits and bobs that we are unsure of, the playpen is in and bouncing chair, in fact every single thing is ready except the baby, at least it makes you feel like you are doing something positive rather than lying counting the minutes! I had my hair dyed on Monday and a pedicure, again, just made the day pass faster. You've probably heard all this before but I just wanted to let you know we all know how you feel, doesn't make it better but at least you know you are not alone.

Hopefully by next week I'll be posting my announcement, today is my last mumsnetter day before the C section - eek!

starlover · 18/01/2005 11:00

thanks artyjoe.. you're right... was just a surprise to find baby had regressed! LOL
Do keep us updated, and get online asap to tell us about your new baby.

I am going to tell myself that it isn't coming til the 31st, that way hopefully I'll have a nice surprise before!

Am spending today washing all my nappies. Did babygros and blankets yesterday and made up the crib and pram with bedding. I think I am going to run out of things to do before this baby is born though!

Me and DP have a bet running as to whether the baby will come before I finish my current bottle of gaviscon! LOL... I think the gaviscon is going to be long gone before baby makes an appearance, but I guess you never know!

fufmum · 18/01/2005 15:25

2 Days overdue now, cot is up and sterilizer will be running tonight. I am sooo bored of waiting now. Think i might steer clear until the baby has decided to come as it's depressing just posting that i am overdue!

Good luck tomorrow Artyjoe you lucky devil i was due before you and you will have your precious bundle before me well unless the bugger decides to make a show tonight........i won't hold my breath!

starlover · 18/01/2005 15:48

fufmum, you can help me think of ways to pass the time!
am trying NOT to think about the baby... but it's impossible!

Pollyanna · 18/01/2005 18:38

hI - just popping in to say good luck for tomorrow Artyjoe! Look forward to reading your announcement soon.

pollyanna xx

PocketTasha · 18/01/2005 22:03

Hi all, i hope you are all keeping well. I know you are all really fed up by now. Chins up!
Well done Mosschops!
Good luck with the C section Artyjoe, I'll wait for your announcement!

Time for some jumping on the spot for all who are still here. I am going to say what everyone says now, and i know it's annoying as hell, but it IS true... It won't be long now .

artyjoe · 19/01/2005 05:01

It's 5am and I can't sleep...c section not playing on my mind then!

Not long to go now

starlover · 19/01/2005 10:32

artyjoe, you're so lucky!
I know a c-section isn't what you wanted, and I don't want one either... but you're gonna have your baby by tonight! how cool is that?????????

Schmozer · 19/01/2005 18:26

Artyjoe, how exciting! I bet it's all over now and you're snuggled up with your lovely baby. Well done.

Saw the midwife yesterday and she said I didn't seem irritable enough to be about to drop. Well she should have seen me this morning! Could not stop crying for no reason, yelled at DH (which I rarely do) and felt pretty awful all told. A little better now, but having strong BH which I think are more frequent than before. Have just read something helpful (not - thank you Dr Miriam) - you can mistake early labour for strong BH, but you can also mistake strong BH for early labour. Consequently have decided to ignore them for the time being. Still aiming for Friday anyway!!!

Pagan · 20/01/2005 15:27

Sigh - I'm deeply deeply fed up.

Come junior - get a move on

starlover · 20/01/2005 15:38

Pagan.. when are you due?

fufmum · 20/01/2005 16:29

Pagan think how i feel then! I am 4 days overdue and went to hospital today to be told my DS is no further down than he was 2 weeks ago

I have been booked in for next wednesday for induction!

OP posts:
Pagan · 21/01/2005 10:28

I've still got 2 days to go so you all must be feeling more fed up than I am . I've had the curry, hot bath, tempted to have a gin and tonic tonight and trying to persuade DH to give me a good seeing to but to no avail yet. He was a right grump last night so perhaps will be in a better mood since it's the weekend.

starlover · 21/01/2005 11:04

pagan, i'm not due til tuesday! but still been on the curry, hot baths and raspberry leaf tea!
convinced myself I was going into labour last night... but alas! no
I don't think there will be any hurrying this stubborn baby!
still, i guess I can hang on a bit longer because we're going ring shopping on saturday!!!!

Pagan · 21/01/2005 13:54

I bet your waters break at the jewellers just to piss you off How exciting on both counts!!!

I forgot to get raspberry leaf tea - just been out on a quick jaunt for my haggis and turnip (Burns Night on your due date) but had to rush home to go to loo again!

starlover · 21/01/2005 14:34

if they did, i would stay and choose my ring anyway!

just found some gin in the drinks cupboard! but no tonic... what else can i have it with?

omg i am SO excited about having a baby! am seriously hyper now, and nowhere to direct my energy!!!!

Schmozer · 23/01/2005 19:06

I'm still pregnant too

Everything is ready now, nothing left on my 'to do' list, was forced to curl up with a hottie and a good book this afternoon. Really want my baby now!

Still, it's a full moon on Tuesday so we might all be lucky then!

Pagan · 23/01/2005 19:44

A hottie is a wonderful thing! I got one for my Xmas

starlover · 24/01/2005 09:54

schmozer.... i am the same! have NOTHING left to do except wait.
I even started making birth announcement cards to pass the time... and i am the most unarty person int he world! lol

sounds like we all have pretty stubborn babies! wanna place bets on who will go first?????

fufmum · 24/01/2005 11:09

I don't know about placing bets, my baby doesn't have much say in it anymore. I am now 8 days over and am going in on Wednesday to be induced so his time has more or less run out!
So i had better bloody be next!!

Artyjoe should have her little girl now, come on Joe and let us know how it went!

OP posts:
starlover · 24/01/2005 11:32

I am due tomorrow... hope s/he makes a timely appearance!

artyjoe must be coming out of hospital today, because I think she said it was a 5 day stay...
hopefully she will rush here as soon as she is home!!!

~insanely jealous of all the people who have had their baby already, or know when it's coming!~

smellymelly · 24/01/2005 12:05

Good luck Fufmum, and of course all the others who are still waiting...I'm still thinking of you.

My bubba's are 5.5 weeks old now and it seems like an eternity ago that they were born.

starlover · 24/01/2005 16:03

hooray! just got back from midwife and baby's head is engaged!
now i just need something to entice it a little bit further.....!

Pagan · 24/01/2005 18:49

Ouch - I got a membrane sweep today and feel distinctly odd and uncomfortable now. Shall get induced next Monday if nothing happens in between.
