Congratulations Pocket Tinsel, thought of a name yet?

Any news Mosschops?

I had the final growth scan today and baby is currently 8.5 pounds so has gained again in only 2 weeks, the head circumferance is now off the chart above the 95% mark, so will be interesting to talk to consultant tomorrow...I wonder if C section will be back on the cards?

Baby is now lying tummy to tummy which is why she's able to cause huge amounts of pain by full on punching my belly button (where I have scar tissue from an operation!), I'm hoping she'll get the hint soon and realise there's another way out

fufmum · 04/01/2005 14:58

So pleased for you pocketasha. Just going to find the full story!! Our first Jan babe!

BatLady · 04/01/2005 22:34

Hello - crikey it's very unpredictable when our babies will decide to come isn't it? We seem to have such a mix of early, on-time and late babies amongst us....anyone fancy a guess at what mine will be??
I've been reassuring myself that it won't be yet due to lots of kicking still going on, as think perhaps if baby still has room he won't be in such a hurry to come out? Any truth in that do you think or is he actually just going to kick his way out?
All your preparations for homebirths sound very exciting. your baby is going to be a smashing healthy size then Artyjoe, I've no idea what size mine is, in the last scan (20 weeks I think? Feels like years ago) he was at the low end of the scale for his due date but docs said still reckon dates are ok and uterus size has always matches dates....who knows....

Tick tock....who's going to be next....

Take care all of you xxx Batlady

Hi girls,
Still waiting at the moment but had a show last night so things are definitely moving. realy hope i'll deliver this week cos my little sister goes back to uni on sat an won't be able to get back for 2 weeks - we'll both be realy disappointed if she misses it! hope everyone else is well.

PocketTinsel · 05/01/2005 11:12

Just popped in in search of more birth stories.. I'm feeling quite sorry for you girls now. I was ridiculously heavy at the end, with a 9lb baby, placenta to match and all that extra fluid. Relief will come soon for you all, and you'll be able to enjoy your gorgeous little bundles .

PocketTinsel · 05/01/2005 11:52

Oh and we called the baby Cameron. Kept forgetting to post his name .

artyjoe · 05/01/2005 13:36

Cameron is a lovely name!

Just got back from hospital and home birth is definitely OUT but I can still labour at home and then transfer to hospital for the birth. The risk of shoulder displacia (?) is too high to risk at home apparently but at least they are supportive in labouring at home. I saw a new consultant who is much calmer and spent ages discussing the options and reasonings behind everything and, more importantly, my scan results. Am booked in for another scan in two weeks but I'm hoping to God I've given birth by then!

Am getting emotional where I'm not sleeping so the pain and discomfort is getting to me and self pity is slipping in there. I keep telling her 5th January is a lovely day for a birthday, more raspberry leaf tea coming up ....x

Pollyanna · 05/01/2005 21:01

congratulations pockettasha!

sounds promising for you too Sassy - let us know when something happens.

I am still here unfortunately, but have been having contractions every 10 minutes since midnight last night. I got my mum here this morning and nothing has happened since. Perhaps tonight will be the night??

artyjoe · 07/01/2005 13:39

Any news from anyone on the birthing front?

All quiet here, I think she enjoys her current home too much.

I've got SD over this weekend and my mum and sister are unavailable so this weekend would be the most disruptive time to go into labour...if she takes after me I'll have her by Sunday

fufmum · 07/01/2005 13:51

Well i had a lovely afternoon at hospital yesterday.........NOT!

My BP was up and protein in my urine AGAIN!! so they took all my bloods again and put me on BP monitor. Only good thing was i got an extra scan which i wasn't supposed to have. So i got to see my little boy once last time on screen. Anyway everything was fine my BP went down and they let me come home.
Artyjoe i know exactly where you are coming from on the no sleep= being emotional. I woke this mornign with the most horrible stomach ache and have spent most of the day on the loo

I am gonna go lie down in a min and see if i can get an hour or so. I am soooooooo bored of waiting and if anyone else tells me to make the most of having this time alone i will scream!
Good luck to you all ladies, we are all feeling the same i guess.

Hi Fufmum, know what you mean about silly comments regarding enjoying this time...

Oh yes, I sooo enjoy:
Having bile in my throat 24/7
Pain due to SPD
Not being able to walk without great pain
Not being able to sleep
Having restless legs
Feet feeling like they are bleeding due to swelling
Knees buckling on the stairs
Having baby scratch my scar tissue on my belly button
Not being able to put on own knickers
Bleeding due to piles
Being strangled by my own boobs when I lie down
Not being able to have a shower or bath due to being so big...the list goes on!

I know there will be a whole seperate list when baby arrives but at least I will have her in my arms.

Sorry you were in hospital again, sounds like we are following the same pattern with the BP and urine! I get to see her again in 12 days... although I'm hoping she'll be in my arms by then rather than still on a screen!!

I can't believe I was at the consultant on Wednesday and never asked to be induced early, I really am kicking myself!

Salexanne · 07/01/2005 17:58

Hi I have just found this website. Anyone out there also waiting to go in to labour? I am a week over mydue date and getting tired of analysing every twinge.
Sarah

Salexanne · 07/01/2005 18:13

Ahh have just read down the page!! I guess there's a few of us out there. I am glad that I am not the only person who is being driven crazy with comments about enjoying the time. That will be nimber one on my list of 'things not to say to a first time pregnant mum' Along with you are huge, you will definitely be coming early. This is what my colleagues told me through out my pregnancy and I was convinced that i would be at least two weeks early. Now it looks like baby will arrive two weeks late. Thats a whole month in between time!!!
Well better be off for a walk, donw the vindaloo and other stuff, living in the southern hemisphere means my day is starting as yours is ending. Goodluck every one.

artyjoe · 07/01/2005 18:19

Hi Sarah, welcome to the frustrated waiting club!

I am downing raspberry leaf tea like there is no tomorrow at the moment in the hope to kick start something, also bouncing on the birthing ball, but this does also help my restless legs so don't feel too stupid for doing this one

I have to keep reminding myself that by the 20th, whatever happens, I will have a baby in my arms...it just seems like such a long way off...will still be hopeful for this weekend though

Salexanne · 07/01/2005 18:43

Right rasberry leaf tea. Hope they sell it here! What are restless legs? How overdue are you? Its really hard to tell because we have been given three different dates. According to the last date I am only two days over but our midwife tells us she has to set an induction date from the scan results!!!

Hi Mosschops
I know how you are feeling. I haven't been offered a sweep though. Will talk to midwife about that one. I don't think that they do them here in New Zealand. My induction date is next Wednesday so know how you are feeling.Good luck!

BIGBIRD!!!!!! today was the d day hey!!!

Looking forward to hearing your wonderful news!!!!
Take care Quacks xxxxxxxx Georgina is 5 months now!!!!

Dophus · 08/01/2005 11:43

I'm another one waiting an hoping. I still have officiallyhree weeks to go. I was admitted to hospital on X-mas day possibly going into labour (1cm dilated). Things calmed down since, I had my show yesterday so I'm hoping that this may mean things wiill happen sooner rather then later. (triumph of hope over experience). MY guts are a mess and I have been busy painting the bannisters. My Braxton Hicks are stronger each day and becoming quite uncomforatble - I therefore think I have had every sign of imminent labour going!

I have a scan on Tuesday to check presentation - every midwife and doctor I see diagrees. Fingers crossed that all wil be OK as I really don't want a C Sec.

Can't eat or sleep, swollen ankles and aching pelvis. Come on baby - you know you wnat to!

Good luck to all! I am going to go and write my birth plan -= I've been meaning to for ages!

artyjoe · 08/01/2005 12:01

Dophus it all sounds promising for you. I've just put up a seperate thread about imminent labour as I have no idea if I may be there or not...certainly sounds like you are though!

I haven't had what I interpreted as Braxton Hicks for over a month now and I get no cramps or practice contractions at all...this has actually made me a little uneasy in case this means my labour will sneak up on me!

Know how you feel about swolen ankles and pelvis, can't wait to get rid of both of those!

Lets hope we get some birth announcements this weekend x

sassy · 08/01/2005 16:11

I'm still here - grrr!
It really is starting to get me down. I'm trying to count my blessings - I can still get around, still drive etc, but frstration and hormones get the better of me from time to time.
Still, induction is on thurs (as long as they have a bed free, they didn't when I went in to be induced at end of last pg), so by this time next week I should have had my baby.
Good luck all you other waiting women!

Pagan · 08/01/2005 16:24

Happy New Year ladies

I'm not due for another 2 weeks but nice to share the time with you all and sympathising with all the ailments we seem to be suffering.

I'm all prepared, DD has been moved to her own room and seems to love it, all other stuff in place, bag packed, names picked. Fed up waiting and fed up weeing every time I bend over - sigh!!!!

Got the builders starting soon too to convert our attic and just noticed damp on the walls - more sighs.

Apart from that fine and dandy

Pollyanna · 08/01/2005 22:41

hi just to say I had a baby girl on Thursday (6th Jan) morning - weight 9lb 1oz - no name yet. I will post more details soon (no energy yet!!). Good luck to everyone else!
