good luck for tomorrow fufmum! hope all goes well.
update us asap!

artyjoe · 25/01/2005 12:29

Hi everyone, sorry it's taken a while...all of you still waiting, it will be soooo worth it.

Faith was born on Wednesday 19th January at 13.02 and weighed in at 9.7. She has blonde hair and slate grey eyes and looks 3 months old! I have been blessed with a good natured angel but feel sure I'll be needing a heart transplant soon as mine doesn't seem big enough for the joy that keeps swelling up when I look at her.

Those of you who have suffered in pregnancy, Lord knows I did, the afterpains of childbirth are nothing at all in comparison, I've had a C section and I feel the best I've felt in 5 months!

I still have swollen hands so it's hard to type so I'll post a proper announcement in a few days, but just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you all. x

starlover · 25/01/2005 12:39

congratulations artyjoe, and welcome to faith! she sounds gorgeous!

i am very jealous now!

smellymelly · 25/01/2005 20:44

Bloody fantastic, Artyjoe. What a great ending!

So much for the full moon, but gosh, Artyjoe, what a whopper! Well done and welcome to Faith.

By now Fufmum may have had hers as well - hope all is going according to plan. Any news from Dophus?

My baby has also been engaged for weeks - it's so low I sometimes think I can feel it trying to come out But it seems perfectly happy where it is at the moment - still wriggling and kicking like mad.

Midwife is off tomorrow and Saturday so am aiming for Friday or Sunday. Feeling so restless and unsettled and a little snappish with DH which he's being very good about, especially since the midwife recommended curry, sex and long walks - three of his favourite things!

starlover · 27/01/2005 10:08

yeah, where are dophus and pagan????
they better not be having their babies before me!!!

Pagan · 27/01/2005 15:17

Well done Arty!!! Fab isn't it!!

May I add my own news to say that my beautiful baby boy, Finn, arrived on Burns Night weighing in at 7lb 2 oz. Hooray!!!

Shall tell more on birth announcements but just wanted you gals to know and to keep your fingers crossed and legs open - won't be long now!!!

BatLady · 27/01/2005 15:38

Ahh fantastic news Artyjoe, Pagan and everyone else who has added a new baby to the world! Well done and I hope you are having lots of fantastic baby-cuddles.

I'm due tomorrow, a lot more terrified than any of you were by the looks of your eager postings! I haven't tried any DIY induction yet so off for a walk now, curry and sex are 2 things that I find a lot more tempting for after the birth....keep trying to predict if my hormonal swings are a sign, but there's far too many of them to be sure LOL

Membrane sweep for me on Weds if still no sign of things happening...which just happens to be my birthday!

Fufmum congratulations wherever you are!

xx Batlady

Schmozer · 30/01/2005 16:09

Well done Pagan and welcome to Finn!

Still here (sex and curry not working for me!) but I had my show this morning. Very exciting, but needless to say nothing has happened since! Membrane sweep tomorrow then.

If hormonal swings were a sign I'd be well on the way, BatLady (and according to DH I've developed a very irritating giggle/cackle, though this could just be his hormonal swings of course). Have given up trying to interpret every twinge as none of them have led to anything. Don't be terrified - it'll all be over soon.

Really want this baby out now - very jealous of those of you who have popped! And some of you might be popping as I write - no posts since Thursday? Good luck to everyone!

starlover · 31/01/2005 09:46

aww schmozer i am still here too!

looks like we'll be off to join the due in feb thread soon!

i am seeing the midwife later today... gonna ask when's the soonest they'll induce me!

BatLady · 31/01/2005 11:47

Still here too! Ante-natal friends are dropping one by one though, membrane sweep worked after 48 hours for at least two people, so with a birthday sweep on Wednesday maybe I'll be a Mum on Friday?

I'm finding everything sets me into giggles too, it's great, I find all the stuff on TV hilarious, hope it carries on forever as makes TV far more entertaining.

Am off to run through the list of names again now to make sure we've definitely picked our favourite. What's everyone doing to pass the time?

Good luck all,
Batlady

starlover · 31/01/2005 13:08

batlady... good luck with the sweep. as for passing time... i am mostly spending my days on here!
also been making birth announcement cards, playing on ps2, washing clothes and nappies, wandering in and out of the nursery and playing with the baby stuff! lol

i have been having a lot of symptoms for ages now... strong braxton hicks, period-type pains, lower back ache, keep going to the toilet... but nothing seems to be actually happening!

A couple of times I have got really regular BH's, and thought it was all starting... but alas! no

Looks like we're all in for february babies though doesn't it.

BatLady · 01/02/2005 12:57

Making birth announcement cards is a great idea, will have to have a go at that one. Do you find the days are going very fast? Maybe something to do with the time I get out of bed....and also the amount of time I faff about getting dressed and in bathroom ..lol.

Strange how the signs keep coming and going isn't it? Mine have gone very quiet but bay moving about busily so wonder if he's making himself comfy for a bit longer...Have you got a date for induction yet? Apparently sweeps work in 50% of women, it's worked for 2 out of 3 people I know so far...please let me be one of the 50%! If it doesn't I think I'll be in early next week for full on induction, I'll be about 1 week and 3 days overdue by then, I don't think I'll ask to be left longer even though they normally seem to wait the full 2 weeks.

Take care and hope you're in labour soon!

xx Batlady

starlover · 01/02/2005 13:45

my days seem to drag by endlessly!
i can't stay in bed because I am too uncomfortable! I have to get up and have some coffee and breakfast and watch crappy day-time tv.

It's such an effort to make myself get dressed though, lol. In fact, today I have only just managed to have a bath and wash my hair (is now 1.45!)

I have an appointment with the consultant at the ante-natal clinic next monday to discuss induction, but am dearly hoping that I won't make it to then!

Baby is still moving around and kicking... have informed it today that it would be a lot more comfortable if it would just come out, because it could kick to its hearts content... but doesn't seem to be listening- must be a boy!

BatLady · 02/02/2005 20:51

Same here on taking time in mornings, its usually midday by the time I've had breakfast and washed etc. and walked aimlessly around from room to room forgetting things...(am same on not being able to lay in due to aching legs either, can sit up in bed and eat toast though....)..also eating breakfast often wears me out again, so I might doze off til Neighbours is on...Lol

Had sweep today but midwife doesn't reckon it will work and so far she's right...am booked in for full on induction Friday 11th, like you I hope it'll happen on its own before then, it is so wierd not knowing though...why can't these babies stick to the rules a bit??
Looking on positive side, at least induction will mean missing out the rushing to hospital I guess, although I think I'll be in tears if I go in to be induced as apparently they don't let hubby stay the night unless you're in labour. Can't believe I'll be there waiting by myself, really not good at that sort of thing. Still I guess if it starts he'll be there within 1/2 hour, I'll just have to bite my quivering lip very hard when he leaves....my Mum said the atmosphere in antenatal ward is very different anyway as there'll be other people who are all excited...

PocketTasha · 03/02/2005 01:58

Hi just popped back in to say hi and Congratulations to Artyjoe and Pagan!
Can't believe that it has actually been one whole month since my little Ds2 was born. It seriously does fly by!. I wish it had in pregnancy!
I really feel for all you girls that have gone over.
Take care and good luck to you all. xxx.

artyjoe · 04/02/2005 14:19

Batlady, can't you ask to be induced first thing in the morning so your hubby can be with you? I know in st Peters your hubby can be there during visiting hours until you are in labour so i'd ask for the induction to start at the beginning of visiting hours so you have several hours for it to take effect. Also, begging works well I've found, if visiting hours are up beg to go into labour ward, they'll let you if there is room!

Whatever happens, it will all be worth it - good luck - Joe

starlover · 04/02/2005 14:54

I wonder how schmozer is....

fufmum · 05/02/2005 13:16

well here i am at last. All i can say is WHAT A BLOODY NIHGTMARE!!
My induction failed 4 TIMES!!!!!!!!!
I ended up having a c section on 29th and was in hospital till Monday. I post full story on births.

OP posts:
Pollyanna · 05/02/2005 13:36

Fufmum congratulations! Mine would have been called Jack (had she been a boy!) - good taste! Come and join the January babies thread.

Batlady, at my hospital they let you get booked in for an induction in the evening and then go home overnight if you want - perhaps they'll let you do that? Anyway, I hope it doesn't come to that for you.

Schmozer · 07/02/2005 19:42

Well done Fufmum!

I had my darling Hugo last Monday morning and have only just found a minute to come on here and tell you. Will post more details on Birth Announcements.

Hope you other poor ladies in waiting will have some news soon.

Schmozer xxx

BatLady · 11/02/2005 20:03

YAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!! Lovely lovely baby Joe came along on his own after all! A week late and after a day of all the DIY induction I could think of (pineapple, walks and shopping, raspberry tea and hot curry) and Friday night 2am waters broke! Had to go straight into hospital as meconium present, labour started about 5am and the little cannon-ball shot out at 1.24 lunchtime! He was certainly in a rush which meant I was very lucky in terms of getting through it. Am completely and utterly in love! (sore, sore nipples though.....)

Hope you have are all popped and happy!

xx batlady

Dophus · 12/02/2005 09:59

Back on line after a few weeks caring for myself and my beautiful boy.

Felix was born on the 24th Jan after 9 hours of labour and a C Sec as he was breeched. He weighed in at 7lb 11oz.

I can't quite believe that he's nearly three weeks old. I also can't believe the depth of emotion wheneer I look at him.

I'll put the full story in the birth announsments.

Congratulations to all you all for your beautiful babies!
