Hello all.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Paranoid1stTimer · 01/02/2008 11:21

piggyp I am either raging and seething with anger or sobbing in the can't-get-a-breath kind of way at the moment. Usually in quick succession! Seething anger turns rapidly into tears of frustration and DH is completely confused all the time! at the leather sandals situation! That made me laugh!

gingercat12 · 01/02/2008 13:07

MarchMum I must confess I never handled any nappies in the past at all... So DH and I will be on equal footing

gingercat12 · 01/02/2008 13:16

Paranoid and HQ I have just had my 'meeting to discuss termination of my contract'. They are really trying to send me into premature labour... Anyway they could not tell me whether my contract will be extended beyond April 2008 despite my boss agreeing to extending it to August 2008 and then we'll see. After the meeting however I had a letter extending my contract till August 2009. They do not know what they are doing, but I signed it and hand delivered it instantly. No comment...

derah · 01/02/2008 13:33

Sky is still blue, weather page on bbc website now has happy sun instead of snowy cloud. I feel cheated!

1.5 hours of work to go! Hee hee!!

HolidaysQueen · 01/02/2008 13:34

gingercat - the good thing about HR's incompetence is that they occasionally get things wrong in your favour. Very wise of you to sign and return immediately

tori32 · 01/02/2008 13:45

piggyp ROFL at your sandal discovery!
My DH just had his head in the sand with dd. I used to ask 'are you excited/ nervous etc', on my due date, to which the reply was 'I'm building up to it honey! Don't want to peak too soon! Luckily he soon peaked when she arrived and has done his fair share of changes .

Sorry about you girls with work stress. Mine has decreased somewhat since xmas (especially since my ex mindees mother brought me a cheque she owed since 5th Jan! ). Can you visit HR in person to get your MATB1 form back?

On the femur measuring I feel better now. Last time with dd I can remember them saying she had long legs (can't remember measurement though.) This baby is 33mm so about average and therefore, hopefully smaller.

Prisci · 01/02/2008 15:52

Marchmum, I hope you nose bleed was not as dramatic . On the poo - DH Nappy subject, I have received the Fuzzy Bunz and been working on DH by leaving them in the leaving room ready to go and get washed, but somehow have forgotten to wash them over the past few days, oups, . It seems to have worked, he has looked at them, and asked questions etc....tried to make him excited by the cool colour etc... at least now he does not seem put off or frighten by the idea.

Gingercat, well done indeed on the HR front... they can really get on someone else nerve...especially pregnant one. When I left for ML, most issues were sorted but still it was not exactly peace and love, but now I am receiving good luck cards etc... I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that since I have left 4 of my staff resigned blaming mostly the choice of my replacement which I was not keen on etc... and our clients keep asking when I will be back .

Has anyone turned into a knitting factory, I did not know how to knit anything 8 months ago and now I am making sweaters, hat, bootees etc...maybe not the most appropriate for Bermuda but can't help it - I am doing mostly 6 - 12months old, so hopefully will be back in the UK by then? I think it is my way of compensating for the fact our shipment has still not arrived...I just can't wait to the cot together etc...

PurlyQueen · 01/02/2008 16:06

yes - there is a baby knitting factory in north-west London. I've done a couple of cardigans for when the LO is born and some stuff for 6-12 months old when it will be colder.

merryberry · 01/02/2008 16:13

now i have visions of care packages arriving for us from sunny bermuda, just shake the sand out the those seweaters, heh

need to get my jaw off the floor at how inept so many companies are being over maternity leave. not big, not clever.

i have a big smile on my face re: piggy's husband sandal wearing alter ego

i think i may actually have a limb escape this bump any minute now. NOW this feels like a big baby. I've really had a growth spurt around the bump these last two days (i feel it loads in the evening, bump tight as a drum, ready to pop). It's getting very sticky out and beginning to scare small children and have a different weather front underneath it. that must be where derah's snow has gone. Oh and just so it looks extra lovely, it's huge and round and firm except for this redundant sort of flap of FLAB a couple inches deep sort of jellying over my hip bones. I'm going to look such a state post natally. Thank god I won't care then.

BLegh. Feel far too pregnant for my own good. Looking forward to d-day so much now. Had a heavy, busy week what wiht nursery settling-in, hospital visits, family visits, dp working late. Have pled for and been awarded a weekend of lie-ins and more rest than usual, or won't be able to keep going so well next week.

HolidaysQueen · 01/02/2008 16:17

me too - i've made a blanket, a jumper, some slippers, a toy elephant (!) and am now on a little snuggler/pram suit type thing. my mum has also made about 5 cardigans and i have the blanket that my nana knitted for me... it's homeknitted hippy heaven in our house

I think it has stopped me eating mountains of chocolate while sat in front of tv. knitting = good for baby + good for waistline...

PurlyQueen · 01/02/2008 16:18

I have got a pain in my groin, which feels like muscle strain. Turning over in bed and walking is beginning to get uncomfortable. Is this the beginning of SPD (hope not)?

HolidaysQueen · 01/02/2008 16:25

Purly - i've been having that. doctor thinks it's unfortunately just a normal part of carrying an increasingly heavy baby rather than anything more serious. i have found these past few nights that sleeping on my left side with a pillow between my legs has helped both that and my lower back, bizarrely. plus lots of rest with my feet up - a long walk last weekend caused it to flare up, so taken it much more easily this week.

turtle23 · 01/02/2008 16:52

My bump is completely different today, it seems to have dropped down a bit. Also haven't had any pelvic or back ache til now..does that sound like he's beginning to engage? I know it doesn't mean anything, really, just wondered why the sudden change?

PurlyQueen · 01/02/2008 17:06

thanks for that, HQ.

I've had visions of having to see out the rest of my pregnancy on crutches .

I shall hobble to the staff canteen now for some cake to cheer myself up

I am determined not to be signed off sick as I don't want my maternity leave to begin a month early.

feedmenow · 01/02/2008 17:13

Just wanted to pop in and say hi, and share my wee experience of last night with you all! Got up to pee at some ungodly hour and actually pee'd like a non-pg woman....as in, a full bladder! God knows where baby had got to to enable my bladder to actually fill up!!!! probably just moved back slightly to enable a better position to put pressure on my piles

merryberry · 01/02/2008 17:32

i am laughing at you and feeling bone deep sympathy at the same time, feedmenow

MarchMum · 01/02/2008 18:21

i was actually half excited to see some snow. blame it on the canadian passport...

i am in awe of all you knitters! the closest i got was calling my aunt and asking her to rummage around her attic for the knit outfit i was brought home from the hospital in (knit by my great aunt). bless her she found it and has sent!

have a good weekend everyone

derah · 01/02/2008 19:38

Yay, work is finished!! Lots of lazing about the house for me now. Oh, wait, I have a toddler don't I?

derah · 01/02/2008 19:40

Merryberry - give me my snow back!!! And some for MarchMum too...

Turtle - yup, sounds like baby might be engaging. Better for your ribs, worse for your pelvis!

feedmenow · 01/02/2008 19:40

No chance of me doing any knitting either! I'll leave that to my mother who can at least produce something half-way decent! I dread to think what the result would be if I tried!

When I was pg with dd I decided I would make some type of quilted cover thing. Bought all the stuff and sat for a few nights cutting bits up and then grew bored and never touched it again! Me all over, starting something and never finishing it!

monthlymayhem · 01/02/2008 21:39

Hi Ladies

Hope those with piles, achey bits, annoying HR depts etc, etc are taking it easy. Two weeks and two days to go at work for me and if anything it seems to be winding up rather than down!! I've been feeling fine physically but just now ready to switch off work brain and concentrate on becoming a mummy

My Amby nature's nest arrived today and DH had set it all up for me coming home Really love it, just hope it's going to help baby sleep through the night . Tummy tub also arrived. I wasn't going to get one but my SIL did and her new baby loves it so am going to give it a go.

Planning to go swimming at the weekend and try not to eat as much as I did last weekend!! Hope everyone has a good one!

e14mum · 01/02/2008 21:43

I've finished a hat!!! [proud e14 emoticon] May attempt a cardigan, but not sure I'm up to the challenge (it is a challenge for me!)
My dad in Toronto was cracking up at the news reports of "arctic gales" coming this way... I wish we had a little bit of snow though.
Finished NCT course today- feel so much more prepared and that I can actually do it!
Also, I am now in receiving blanket heaven as parcels from mom arrived this morning!
Have good weekend everyone

fitnforty · 01/02/2008 23:31

bit belated girls, but have some leftover birthday cake! It's choc & caramel with little millionaire's shortcake biscuity things on top. Very sweet and sickly.

Had a pleasant-ish day in work, got semi-appraisal from boss and will have at least hit "achieved" (though don't know what i'd have got without the pregnancy excuse!), but won't know what if any bonus we may get until mid Feb when i'm on mat leave. Then went out for lunch at local posh golf club with team and colleague from IT who decided he'd treat us to lunch after we bought him pressies for his baby due on Monday. Shame i ended up having to stay until 5ish as my cover person still hadn't worked out how to do the job but left her to it in the end as I've only got 3 days left and i don't CARE!!!

Went to see Sweeny Todd tonight to get away from the lodger for some "us" time, good movie, despite the excessive blood! But hey, it's Johnny Depp. Then drove home only to find DH had lost his blackberry so had to drive all the way back to the cinema again. Luckily it had been found and handed in, so faith in human nature temporarily restored.

Out for birthday curry tomorrow night with ex-lodger and current lodger's ex-wife (long story!) which should be entertaining!

Hope we get loads of snow when i'm off and don't have to drive anywhere cos it's pretty to look at and the dog loves it.

Hope all other HR issues are resolved soon for those still having probs and yay to those getting the results they want!

turtle23 · 02/02/2008 09:41

Derah- I had a very vivid dream last night that you had your LO 2 1/2 weeks early. I was round at your house (must have read MN right before bed, I guess!) and talking to your DD when your waters broke, went to tell your DH and then you shouted that you'd already started pushing!! In my dream you had your baby in about, oh, 3 minutes. Hopefully, this will not be the case, but it was so real I woke up thinking "Por Derah, I hope she's ok!!" Pregnancy, eh? Does odd things to the brain.

preggersagain · 02/02/2008 09:58

Morning!!

I've hust been called a yummy mummy !!! By a sexy man

apparently i couldn't possibly have just had twins as i look so fit and 'fresh'

Right my weekend mission is car-seat safety- can everyone check thier seats this weekend please (we are having a big campaign with police this weekend!!) if you have bought your seat online please double check it is compatible with your car and make sure you know how to fit it/ adjust it- if you are unsure, get it checked by a qualified fitter. When an infant carrier is correctly fitted there should be slight movement (very minimal!!!) side to side but absolutely NO MOVEMENT back to front.

Also be aware that if you are using an in-car base the police are well within their rights to ask you to fit the seat without the base to show that you are competant!!(very unlikely but we did as an experimant last summer- and dear god we saw people doing all sorts )
