Hello all.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpaceHopperHayls · 10/01/2008 14:54

Oooh, a snooze. I am jealous!

I have found that, even though it's the last thing I feel like, getting up and having a bit of a walk is the best thing when my pelvis starts. Although, touch wood, it eased off at about week 24, and now has only been bothering me when I try to roll over in bed at night.

Fitnforty - men don't understand hints, however heavy they are. Standing in front of the door shouting 'don't go' would be a bit subtle for mine .

preggersagain · 10/01/2008 15:31

woohoo- i have two arms again!!! just been to have the darned cast removed, feels very strange!

I have been told not to lift anything heavy with just the one arm- but we had a bit of an arguement about what was deemed heavy- ie newborn baby = heavy in his book but as mine are under 4lbs i begged to differ i have been lifting them with the cast on but i shall take it easy for a while- can't wait to go home and have a dip without having to wear a stupid scuba dry-suit thing round my arm!!!

hope you are all ok- my friend has just called me- she is due any day and wanted reasurance that nothing had gone wrong- apparently it feels like someone's booted her hard up the fanjo wearing steel toe capped boots - err nope love thats the baby's head engaging wait until it crowns [wince]!!!

well have fun ladies- i'm off to see the girls sans sparkly cast and with some new clothes for them (they have outgrown a few things already!!)

MerlinsBeard · 10/01/2008 15:42

preggers, i had completely forgotten about your cast!! blimmin eck!

Was it is this thread or the pg after mc one that claphamlauren had injured herself?

preggersagain · 10/01/2008 15:54

this one i think- she has been quite accident prone i think!

gingercat12 · 10/01/2008 15:57

Hayls LOL at your bottom-slapping

HQ I am huge and uncomfortable, etc. but love being pregnant. I love him kicking about and stroking me and tickling me. I just love him....

I knew my LO was only putting the whole breech-thing on for the lovely MW. It was so uncomfortable for me that I knew it must be tight for him. So after 24 hours he flipped back to head down. Naughty little boy

imjin100 · 10/01/2008 16:04

hello all, - reading here lots but not much posting I'm afraid but I popped by to say hello to the new friends, congrats on Lauren and horray on preggersagain, castless and soon to be with the bouncing babies at home - so exciting.
All fine with me, nothing much to report, hence I haven't been on line much. Preggers I did manage to order pram finally and even have a cot so feel positively organised. Feb is crucial for me in getting sorted, until then head in sand!
take care all, shall be popping by regularly but forgive me if I don't say too much.

hugs, cake and chocolates to all.

oh and HQ - I adore being pregnant - a sore back is a minor detail. We are clearly the lucky ones!

merryberry · 10/01/2008 16:06

uhoh world, watch out, preggersagain is back to two handed shopping. nothing pink will be safe

glad that's gone for you!

MissingMyHeels · 10/01/2008 16:08

I have been VERY accident prone - my coccyx/pelvis area has still been causing major grief after that stupid fall. I tripped over on the way back from the midwife today and cut my hand, I can't believe how stupidly clumsy I have become!!

I have just booked on my ante natal classes - Jan 22nd, 29th and 5th Feb and have NO IDEA what to expect. As I have moved from Clapham back to Surrey I guess it is a good opportunity to meet other local Mums. Has anyone been before and can tell me a bit more about what happens??

I can't remember where everyone lives but is there anyone out Surrey way? We are keeping a flat in London too so will def have to meet all you London ladies when you next have a meet up so I have some Mummy friends in London too.

MMH aka ClaphamLauren x

MerlinsBeard · 10/01/2008 16:09

ah thats why i thought i hadn't seen you! You name changed!!

SpaceHopperHayls · 10/01/2008 16:15

I am loving being pregnant too. Yes, there are elements of it that have been a little, um, let's say trying, but ultimately I am just in awe that my body is growing a whole other person. (Who has the hiccups at the moment, which I find hilarious and tickly!)

doup76 · 10/01/2008 17:35

Hello Ladies!

Don't know about you, but I am starting to get really excited deep down inside
NCT class went really well last night. DH is taking it quite seriously which I find so sweet. When we got in the car to come home he said "Hmmm we need to make up the hospital bag", he was so serious, I played along..... "so when do you think we should do that?" I said. "SOON" he said quite ominously. Don't know why but I thought it was the funniest thing!
Anyway, went for my scans today. Everything is looking pretty good. Baby is nearly 4lb already. His measurements are big but not quite as off the chart as they were a couple of months ago... phew! But most importantly my placenta seems to be moving out of the way at last. Not quite enough for a natural birth yet but am going back again in 4 weeks to check. Am feeling very positive though.

Also, have been hammering the credit card with my online baby shopping, can't wait for stuff to arrive. Big order with JL already gone through. Oh, if anyone is buying Grobags I found this site which seems to be quite alot cheaper than others.

derah - go to the spa.... you may not have the opportunity again for a while!

PurlyQueen · 10/01/2008 17:51

Hi everyone,

It's all starting to get frighteningly real now. My bump is jerking around a lot today. Went to see Chris Rock the comedian last night. My LO must have found it funny because s/he wouldn't stop moving.

doup76 · 10/01/2008 17:55

PQ - What was Chris Rock like? We are going on the 24th.....

derah · 10/01/2008 18:22

Lauren - please stop falling over! I'm in Surrey (Woking) and so is Turtle (closer to London than me but I don't remember exactly where). And there's another on of us in Surrey but I forget who. Darn my preggie brain!!

Doup - would love to go to the spa. I've never been and I'm sure I would love it but it seems so mean to take DH's reward from him!

Preggers - yay for getting out of your sparkly cast!

feedmenow · 10/01/2008 19:25

I live in Surrey too! I'm in Egham.

MerlinsBeard · 10/01/2008 19:32

doup, how many weeks are you now? Have you had another scan? is it placenta praevia you have? or low lying placenta (which i have found out are actually different!)

feedmenow · 10/01/2008 19:42

Doup, interesting you mentioned the Grobags cos I've been thinking about them. I know they say 0-6 months but are they really suitable for newborns? A friend of mine felt that herLO was just too little and someone else agreed with her. Does anyone here have any opinion?

Paranoid1stTimer · 10/01/2008 19:51

I had low lying placenta which has thankfully (or not if you prefer a C section which the medical people wouldn't confirm anyway) moved out of the way so I guess I'll just have to push n hopefully not poo!!

You are all so lucky with your hugely loving and supportive DH's!!! Mine is your atypical macho man (who usually turn out not to be macho at all but putting it on for the guys) who will prob have me doing the housework, diggin the garden, washing the car (actually that might be too macho!!!) all with the baby strapped to my teat!!! Ha ha. Seriously though - he isn't really being overly protective even at this late stage!!! It wouldnt suprise me if he "gets stuck in traffic" when I go into labour and misses the whole thing!!!

I suppose that is very selfish of me to say when there are people going through the whole thing on their own actually so sorry about that.... I should count my blessings really...

Anyway, i laughed out loud at the baby alarming farts!!! You made my stressful day at work that bit more bearable.

surprisedandexcitedmum · 10/01/2008 21:09

Can I have a little moan:

We have our first NCT meeting tomorrow, which is unfortunately an all day couples session, and DP isn't coming with me. I'm trying really hard to not be upset or angry, and to understand that he has a new job but I just want to cry.

Deep breaths...

merryberry · 11/01/2008 07:45

oh that is an upset, i hope you get plenty out of it anyway. Your poor bloke too, he may feel really torn about missing it?

Mine is so much more lacksadaisical about everything this time, a support and a good man yes, but I'm not the precious vessel of the perfect first baby this time round, that's for sure! He's in for a shock, he's got to brush up his hypnobirthing partner skills next month, and remember how to massage. We are not a touchy feely couple tbh, so it's a wee bit of culture shock for us both when we do it, but we do know it's worth it.

DS1 has his first day at nursery school today. Wish us luck! I don't feel up for it as our normally docile neighbours to the right had some sort of psychotic break with toons from the early 80s (despite being under 25, as far as I can see!) that had me knocking on their door for volume control at 0350! Drunk as skunks, the lot of them. The singing was DIRE. I am tired.

merryberry · 11/01/2008 07:53

oh i forgot to say we are now at an impasse about name for ds2. i have a lovely one (i think) with family links. dp thinks no because it is the sort of name you have to spell a fair bit to people (like mine is, like his is).

I think so what? worth it! dp is scouring baby name books for inspiration, not having any of his own...

grrr.

Morning all - this thread has just made me laugh, whilst also scaring me about what is to come and giving me a long list of useful things to have in the house post-birth...

Today is my first Friday off (I'm only working 4 day weeks now until mat leave starts in mid-Feb) and I'm heading out to cuddle a friend's newborn baby soon . Weather in west London is bloody miserable though - heavy rain and really dark. My poor DH looked so miserable when he left for work while I waved him off in my dressing gown from the door of our lovely cosy house...

spugs · 11/01/2008 10:16

im on the crap at being pregnant thread but this is my third, i think you get a bit sick of the whole thing after a while. i do remember really enjoying being pregnant with dd1 but unfortunatly each ones got a bit more uncomfortable. plus huge bump + toddler dont add up to a lot of fun at times

have got pushchair arriving week after tomorrow so all excited, going tro have to train dd2 how to use buggy board as she was not keen at all in the shop! im thinking chocolate bribery may work

ive put in my finishing dat at work (15th feb) but as im only part time it wont make that much of a difference. need to get them to sort me out the smp1 form though so i can claim maternity allowence.

have been painting dd2s bedroom but still only done half of it! her beds arrived as well so now have no where to put it and its sat in the hall. organised chaos and all that

cheechymunchy · 11/01/2008 10:24

spugs, I'm with you. This is baby No.2 and I am not enjoying this pregnancy. I actually told DH last night that the next one will be adopted.
I WANT MY BODY BACK. I look awful, I feel awful, DH won't come near me. Both our libidos are through the roof but everywhere on my body there seems to be something wrong. Leaky boobs, varcose veins in "there". Not surprised he "works" on the PC late at night while I read a book, trying to ignore the breakdancing in my belly that's keeping me awake!
To top it off, I'm in Germany and have to have a c section. There's too much choice here, so we have to cart ourselves around this weekend to view where to have the baby. It's also private insurance only and we don't understand how it all works.
Grumps...

doup76 · 11/01/2008 10:40

feedmenow - I don't plan on using the grobag straight away. Was planning on swaddling in moses basket at first. My SIL had a baby at the end of July, so have been carefully observing what she has been doing (cos quite frankly I have no clue!) She had quite a small baby and she had her in the grobag from about 11 weeks old I think.

MoM I am 31 weeks and 2 days. I am guessing my placenta is just low lying. It was completely covering my cervix before but now there seems to me a couple of cm clearance. I think you have to have about 3cm clearance for a natural birth and I am not there yet but seems to be heading in the right direction, so fingers crossed.

Paranoid Your DH sounds like mine. That's why I was so surprised (and happy) about his reaction to the NCT class. Wait and see, there will probably be one thing that someone says or that one of his mates tells him that will suddenly flip the switch. Are you going to take him to a class? For some reason my DH suddenly listened when someone else told him things (even the stuff I had already told him!)
