EEC · 31/01/2008 08:58

Good luck FoghornLeghorn. $ weeks to go til my next scan. Can't wait. Talk about wishing your life away.

Nausea gone and wriggling seems to have stopped so am feeling worried. I'm sure all is OK - baby moved position or something - I'm only 16 1/2 weeks so not proper kicks anyway. I know I should just enjoy feeling better but can't help worrying about every little thing.

I didn't find coping with 2 much harder than one to be honest, as DD was so much easier than DS. He was the one still waking me up several times a night at 22 months while baby was good as gold. I hope this one is like number 2! DS didn't sleep through once until he was three!

I don't think climbing toddlers is a boy girl thing. DD was a real climber - DS much too cautious.

JODIEhavingababy · 31/01/2008 09:04

Morning,

Hope you all slept well and this horrid weather didn't bother you too much?

Tjuice - I too have lost 2 lbs this week, and I see it as a positive!!! soon you'll get fed up of piling it all on. I think 2 stones is about 'normal' but as with everything baby related everyone is different. I had water retention with my last one and put an nearly 5 stone (DH says it was cake retention ) It all comes off in the end, esp when the little ones start moving, so don't worry too much!

lazyhippo · 31/01/2008 09:29

Thank you all for the lovely good wishes, I really appreciate them all. Kitty, my next planned scan isn't until the 20 week one
but they've scanned me most times I've needed to go in, so I'm happy with that.
Twinkle- what a wonderful picture, it must be very cosy in there- I always wonder when twins first have an awareness that they're not alone.
Foghorn- good luck for your scan today
Minkus- I hope your feeling a bit better today. The vomiting is what really gets me down, then i feel guilty for wishing i wasn't pregnant, when the next lot of cramps come on.
MummyW- hope that cup of tea works its magic. any biscuits?
xx

ScottishSusan · 31/01/2008 09:47

Morning all!!

Foghorn - enjoy the scan it will all be fine!!

MummyW - have some chocolare with that tea and cry as much as you like - it's all good!!

Sorry to hear some still so sick - must be very waring!

This is my day off - done the school walk and OMG it's cold, snowy and miserable!!!

I think I might be coming down with a bit of a virus or something or concerned it may be urine infection....

had pain in right side during night and uncontrollable shivers that seemed to last for ages...don't really feel ill today but tired and washed out. Good excuse to stay cosy and have more tea!!

Moan of the day - as I have posted before i sold ALL my maternity clothes as not expecting to have number 6 - so have been looking to get a few things on ebay - saw a lovely pair of BNWT matenity cargo trousers from Next - great - they arrived and yes they are brand new with tags from next but they are not maternity ?????? The seller just said "Oops sorry!!"
I will probably get use of them after for a wee while but as they are a 14 and I am usually a 10/12 they wont last for long. I can wear them just now and use my waist expanders for a wee while - just a wee bit miffed at people's careless listing!!

OMG what a long post and all moans!!! I'm away to make tea!!!

Take care all!!

Morning all,

Good luck Foghorn - sure all will be fine!

MissChika I checked last night and I have signed up with Catford NCT - but I think the woman I spoke to is the SE London coordinator so give her a shout...I think she said there were both E & W Dulwich classes but you might be lucky with a Camberwell group - you never know... Alison Johnson 0870 220 5824 - or join me at Catford! but I guess might be a bit far for you...
we decided on the 2 x full saturday classes plus one BF evening class.

twinkle1 · 31/01/2008 10:24

Morning all,
Weather here is bloody awful snow, hail, thunder & lightning what next????
Alexpolismum DS2 is a major climber he is 2 now and is slighlty more sensible eg no dancing in the middle of the dinning room table!!!!! or standing on the window sills and shouting oh uh
He frightens the life out of me, we have stair gates all over including into his bedroom to try and keep him safe.It does get better though DS1 is 9 now and quite sensible
On the weight front i am still 3lb lighter than before i fell pg!!! not sure i would advise the twin & severe sickness diet though I have a feeling that all of a sudden i will put huge amounts on I already look like a beach ball is up my jumper
right must go my chickens have escaped and look like they are going to be blown into a different county or ready frozen
Twinkle

sweetkitty · 31/01/2008 12:06

Morning all and what a morning yuck or what?

Re the weight thing I have only put on 2lbs so far but expect a bit of a growth spurt soon. I was like it with DD2 nothing until about 24 weeks then the bump seemed to grow overnight, but thats the things every pregnancy and everyone is different, you can lose weight, not put on any, and put on 4lbs in the space of 3 weeks it's not even.

foggie - good luck with the scan today

Susan - I agree cosy and doing nothing much for the rest of the day is the way to go.

EEC - I had the opposite to you DD1 was the dream baby slept through from about 6 weeks, never cried when hungry etc then I got DD2 who was up about 5 times every night in her first year I'm hoping for one like DD1 again although now she is a total little madam so it's swings and roundabouts.

Right better be off MIL is supposed to be coming today better do some cleaning!

Mummywannabe · 31/01/2008 12:37

Knew i should have stayed in bed today!
We have chiken pox in the nursery I manage and i have not had it, although logically i have been exposed to it far more often than your average joe so thinking i may have immuniy??

Spoken to doctor, gotta go for blood test and await results. Read up on risks if i do get it, not great

What do you guys think?? Should i be really worried. Staying firmly put in my office away from the little ones!

Minkus · 31/01/2008 14:03

Mummywannabe poor you, sounds like the baby brain phenomenon is stressing you out a bit. Treat yourself nicely, "mother the mother" for a few weeks and I bet you'll feel a bit more organised. Memories are like conveyor belts, you can only put so much on them before things start falling off the other end so its no surprise that when your brain is full of "baby" (as well as your tum!) there just isn't enough room for everything else all the time. Oh no just read the pox bit too! Chances are you'll be immune I guess, but can understand why you're worried. Hope docs appointment goes ok. Do you think that your employer should consider this a specific H&S risk that they need to take into account for you- and maybe send you home until outbreak is over?

Good luck for your scan Foggy, let us know how you get on.

Susan, for you at your ebay misfortune. Bet you were really looking forward to some nice comfy trews too. I caved in today and bought a maternity track suit- the first trackie suit I have ever owned- and I can't describe the feeling of bliss that washed over me! What have I been doing for the last 31 years fgs? Will be living in them for the next 31 thats for sure its sooo comfy I don't want to ever take it off

Re weight loss, I'm with twinkle on this. Vomiting still and so I am about a stone lighter than when I fell pg. But it was 1 1/2 stone a few weeks ago so I am def packing the pounds on!

Feeling much better today, think I def had a hormonal blip yesterday, sorry for moaning!

Hello everyone else I've missed out.
xxx

Mummywannabe · 31/01/2008 14:33

Thanks Minkus. Re; H & S thingy, guess i've already been exposed. If test comes back i'm not immune will stay off till i've had the injection thingy. Think i will be immune though. Sorry to hear your still vomiting, must be hard.

I too will stop moaning now. Feel so much beter than this morning!

alexpolismum · 31/01/2008 14:57

Hello all!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a climber or an early walker! I've been talking to dh about getting a cot with taller sides, his idea is to put a mattress on wooden slats on the floor so that falling out of bed would only mean a short distance and then of course there would be no climbing. I'm a bit dubious, as I don't want him getting up in the middle of the night and wandering about. Has anyone else done something like this?

twinkle - it's nice to know that things get better on the climbing front, but it still looks far in the future for me! I caught him this morning trying to climb up the bookcase, having pulled himself up on the first shelf (and I was only away in the bathroom for barely a minute!)

hatrick - I hope no2 is not the same too! Mind you, in one way it's convenient, because as the bump gets bigger it's going to get more difficult to carry him around, so it's probably good that he's starting to walk already. How considerate of him!

gillythekid · 31/01/2008 15:18

Feeling like crap today, I actually vomited this morning and had to put olive oil in my ears and wash my sinuses out with salt water cos they're giving me headaches. I'm supposed to be feeling better at almost 17 weeks!! Feeling sad, lonely and very sorry for myself, can't even go for a walk cos I might get blown over and this pain in my lower spine is worse when I do my pelvic floor exercises. Wish someone could tell me it'll all feel better but I now it doesn't quite work that way. Seeing the midwife tomorrow, I'll have a moan at her instead! Hope you're all coping better than me.

Mummywannabe · 31/01/2008 15:41

gillythekid - sorry your feeling rough. Maybe the midwife might be able to offer some wisdom. Take it easy till then.

MissChika · 31/01/2008 17:16

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all bearing up under this dreary day we're having ...

Good luck for the scan foghorn

Thanks for the info MrsHop - I'll give Alison a call. I may end up joining you at the Catford NCT if East Dulwich is full - which it could well be as it is nappy valley down there!

MissChika · 31/01/2008 17:21

Gilly - sorry to hear that you're feeling so low at the moment. I'm sure having a moan to the midwife will do you the world of good and like mummywannabe says she may be able to give you some reassurance and advice.

M x

isaidno · 31/01/2008 17:48

Susan - that is really bad about your ebay trousers. You could ask to return them to her, as the goods were not as listed. If she won't agree to that I would threaten bad feedback! You can't list something as maternity, sell it, send it, then say oops...

Gilly - poor you, there, there

A big there, there for everyone else feeling crap too.

I've started worrying about number 3 - not how I'm going to cope, but how DH is going to manage getting DS1 ready for school for those first few days. I think he is going to be late / dressed in the wrong clothes / dressed in dirty clothes / sent with no lunch / etc etc... When DS2 was born number 1 was only 19 mths, so it wasn't an issue. When he gets up to "help" me on his day off he just sits in the armchair nodding off, or watching telly.

FoghornLeghorn · 31/01/2008 17:57

Well ladies .... baby was absolutely fine However, there is very little chance of me joining you here now as my due date has changed to 11th August instead of 1st and as lovely as it would be to have the baby early, it just aint going to happen .
I'll still lurk and pop in from time to time though

ScottishSusan · 31/01/2008 19:19

Great news Foghorn . You must feel so much better!!

Aw poor Gilly - this pg thing isn't always what it's cracked up to be eh?

Little climbers .....all of my boys were fairly into climbing especially my first and he also walked at 9 months. However, none of them are a patch on the littlest ds now age 2 ....argh

He climbs on everything and never sits down...he also walked at 9 months. he does hand stands (or trys to) and sometimes flips right over....it makes my heart miss a beat - I am paranoid about necks getting hurt! However, today was the worst....I was in utility room folding clothes and he was beside me...next minute he wandered into the kitchen...I called for him and then went to see what he was up to...he had climbed up onto the worktop and had opened a drawer (with a child lock) and was now holding a small sharp knife...OMG I nearly died. After trying the " give that to mummy darling" amd getting the response of a laugh and him taking off up the hall I flipped and SCREAMED at him "stop right now and put that down!!!"

Poor thing was so shocked at mummy screaming that he instantly stopped dropped the knife and burst into tears...so did I!!!
Now going to invest in new type of lock. The kind we have means that you have to open the drawer or cupboard slightly and undo the clip....no problem to a determined little minx....any suggestions?

Min912 · 31/01/2008 20:55

I would definitely give them bad feedback / insist on your money back, that absolutely counts as 'item not as described'. Most people are paranoid/obsessive about their feedback rating so just the threat might make them give you some money back or a total refund. If you paid by paypal you can get all your money back no problem, you open a dispute and it has to be resolved within a certain number of days.

Re the weight, I have put on about a stone already (15 weeks) and last time I'd estimate I put on at least 4 - couldn't bear to weigh myself at 40 weeks but weighed myself a week after giving birth and I was 3st over, so I guess a 9lb baby plus placenta plus water plus whatever I lost in that first week would be at least 1st. I really do think it's not worth worrying about - those damn books make you feel guilty for 'over' eating when you're either permanently hungry, or eating to stave off nausea... grrr. Anyway, upside is I lost all of it bar 3lb again, took me a year in total.

NCT teacher told me last time that any notion of 'correct' weight gain is now completely outdated, it's a very 60s idea and of course dreamt up by men, I think the only reason they weigh you at check-ups now is to make sure you're not increasing really quickly as this can mean gestational diabetes. I think my nan must have had that, she is about 5'2" and my uncle was a 10lb baby! Phew!

Bought DS one of those walkers with the wooden bricks in to encourage him - he took a few steps, promptly fell down and bumped his head on it and now thinks the idea is just to give it a shove, crawl after it and then shove it again. Sigh...

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 31/01/2008 21:29

i hate myself

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 31/01/2008 21:29

hello me back again still whinging about the weather how bad is it tonight? Hope it doesn't wake me up like last night wasn't best chuffed.

Foghorn - glad your scan went well sorry to be losing you from this thread but will keep a look out for your birth announcement in August.

Mummywannabee - sorry to hear you are feeling so rough, the DDs had chicken pox in November but luckily I have had it (have the scars to prove it too) so was OK.

minkus - I was thinking about purchasing some new trackie bottoms some trendy ones that I can wear outside maybe (are they such things?)

Alexpolismum - sometimes I think that babies walk to soon that their legs develop before their brains can control them IYSWIM, mine were 12 1/2 and 11 1/2 months before they walked so pretty average but that was bad enough, then they think they can run and fall over a lot. I have two climbers as well though so maybe it's just a child thing not a DS thing. Don't have a clue about the bed thing as I have two that are quite content in their cots. Small age gaps rock though, the first year can be tough but after that once no2 is walking and interacting with no1 it gets easier and I love them being so close in age. I just hope this one doesn't feel too left out.

isaidno - you need to get your DH doing some practice runs, when DP is off I go upstairs and get ready and leave him to it, he can even do tights now but the hair stresses him out although he said he will have to manage a simple ponytail. DD1 will be off nursery in July so we will have a few "holiday" weeks to adjust. I worry about getting DD1 into nursery having DD2 and DB3 with me as well (sling for DB3 I think).

Scottishsusan - my DDs aren't allowed in the kitchen unless I am with them thats how I solved it, we have a very strong stairgate across the kitchen/dining room door it means the whole downstairs is "virtually" baby proof.

min912 - I think my "only put on 2lbs so far" may be a thing of the past I have been ravenous today just finished a giant pack of chocolate buttons MIL bought up for the DDs I don't even think about weight gain whilst pregnant, so much else to stress about and it will all come off eventually, running about after toddlers is good exercise.

JODIEhavingababy · 31/01/2008 21:59

Evening mums to be

DH shooting it up on Xbox again, so thought I'd pop in and say hello!

ScottishSusan - understand completely about the whole standing on head thing, my DS has just started that too, and I keep having images of snapped necks... horrible... and at your e-bay trousers. I too would be inclined to send them back.

Foghorn - sorry your leaving us, but good luck with everything, and keep us posted!

Mummywannabe - I think I'd stay away until 100% positive you won't get it. I'm sure the people you work with / for will completely understand. DS had a Chickenpox scare just before xmas, just after I'd found out and I was so worried, and I've already had it, so I can imagine how your feeling. Plus you can stay at home and catch up with Phil and Fern!

Anyone else I've missed out, sorry, hope everyone is feeling better...

I've got bloods tomorrow and I hate injections, so really not looking forward to them, but at least I'll get to hear the heartbeat!

JODIEhavingababy · 01/02/2008 13:09

Morning/Afternoon. It's quiet on here today. Has the wind blown everyone away?

Just got back from midwife, everything fine, baby's heartbeat strong and no problems so far. (Still keeping fingers crossed though)

Hope everyone is well and good and having nice days..... Where is it snowing? I'm in the midlands and it's not snowing here.

purplejennyrose · 01/02/2008 13:20

Hello was lurking here in Dec before I had my scan, then have just surfaced after 2 weeks of flu - so coming late to this thread but due 13th July (2nd baby, have dd 21 mths) so please pretty please can I join??
