Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pigleychez · 25/01/2008 20:06

Hi ladies,

Hope everyones well.

Well the old hormones have kicked in big time tonight! Just been reading about the NHS maternity news and typically my hospital is one of the "least performers"! Great!
As if i wasnt already worrying enough! Born worrier and all that.
DH helped to put things into perspective though.. At least now they have action plans etc to be working on and by July should be well on the way to be better and improving rather then other thinking they are ok and becoming complacent (sp?)
oh well, always a drama!

16 weeks tomorow which has gone really quickly!
Cant wait till I feel bubba moving around

sweetkitty · 25/01/2008 21:42

Oh I have a stomach ache have eaten too much Chinese for dinner and still feel full now also had a Snickers today because I fancied one usually would never have one. Have just finished blowing up 60 balloons and putting up banners for DD2's birthday tomorrow, can't believe my baby is 2 already. So 2 years ago tonight I went to bed feeling v uncomfy and p*** off as I thought I was going for an induction on the Saturday morning and DP was going to miss DD2 being born. Was still awake at 1am (late pregnancy insomnia, SPD, heartburn and just feeling lousy) had a painful BH so thought I would go downstairs and get some Gaviscon and a drink of milk. DP followed me down and found me hanging onto the dining room chair and said "I think I will phone for the MWs now" I have a vivid memory of him standing at the door it being freezing and me hanging over the downstairs loo sink. MWs came quickly and I was 8cms on first exam. 4am exactly DD2 announced her arrival into the world with a loud cry followed by a big poo, latched on straight away before cord was cut and that was her. MWs gone by 5am, DD1 (who slept through everthing) joined us in bed at 6.30am to meet her new sister.

Now can I have that again please for number 3 minus the 12 days late, the MWs messing up the oxygen and G&A canisters (luckily oxygen was not needed), oh and if I am being greedy about half that time.

Sorry am in a hormonal my baby is 2 kind of mood tonight. I asked DD2 what presents she would like tomorrow and she said a lion, anyone know if ELC does them?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 25/01/2008 22:46

morning everyone - I've got lots to do today because my baby ds2 is 3 on Tuesday so tomorrow we're having a big tea party for the family. (It's actually my birthday on Tuesday too, so I suppose it is my party as well!)

Got to make sure I've got all the food, decorate the dining room, wrap up presents, give the house a general tidy etc. I might send dh out with the kids for an hour so I can get things done more quickly!

They grow up so fast don't they Kitty/Paula? I was looking at old baby photos the other day and they might as well have been a century old because I had forgotten how they looked!

This little growing baby gave me a few good hard kicks yesterday - just reminding me he / she is still there! I could actually feel the kicks with my hand.

All those who are still waiting for flutters, don't worry - I felt nothing until 18 weeks with ds1 and then it only felt like a few bubbles.

FoghornLeghorn · 26/01/2008 07:15

Aww SK, it's lovely remembering isn't it ?
I did exactly the same in November when DD2 turned one and I have done so on every one of DD1's birthdays - thinking, at this time I was doing this

Happy Birthday to Sweetkitty's DD2

sweetkitty · 26/01/2008 09:27

Morning all

Normal service in the kitty household girls up and fighting over DD2's birthday presents. DP says it goes from deathly silent to chaos in this house in 2 seconds flat and we are about to have another quiet houses are dull though! DD1's birthday is the 20th July my official due date is the 10th I hope the baby is here by then, ideally I would like a week or so between them don't really want one birthday one day then another the next IYSWIM. DP's birthday the 14th so he is hoping the baby will be born then. I'm sure if it's anything like the other two it will be born exactly when it wants.

FoghornLeghorn · 26/01/2008 13:32

Your DD1 has a fantastic birth date Sweetkitty

TJuice · 26/01/2008 18:49

hi ladies

hope you had a great saturday. it is windy as hell here in copenhagen, but i went for a bike ride, then long walk in christiania, ate lots of nice food AND bought a few more items of baby clothes from a shop with a sale. its only the 2nd baby shop i have EVER been to, so i am feeling quite pleased with myself. i bought an orange and brown stripey onesie and some yellow and red shorts, since i don't know the whether its a lickle boy or girl yet (find out next Friday - eep!). i actually like more unisex kiddie clothes anyway. my mum called to tell me that she went potty in House of Fraser kids sale too, so i expect baby will be a well-dressed PFB (first grandchild too)

Anyway, I love this thread but also started a First-Timers one HERE so that any of us rookie-mums can share a bit of our hopefully non-nauseous greenness too.

mummypig · 26/01/2008 22:08

hi everyone, thought I'd join this thread (a little late) I am due on 6 Jul, so about 17 weeks today, already have ds1 (5 3/4) and ds2 (3 1/2), planning a home birth with the same independent midwife who delivered ds2 and was brilliant, still in normal clothes which I feel quite pleased about, although I have ordered some belly bands and looking lustfully at bamboo maternity trousers for antenatal yoga etc.

I hadn't felt the baby move until a couple of nights ago - but then with two ds's who often come into our bed I don't have much quiet time to pay attention to 'flutterings'

oh and I'm really pleased that the nausea has pretty much gone by now and I can enjoy doing some real cooking again. It was much the same with both ds's though, so I didn't expect anything different once it had kicked in at about week 5. Big hugs and sympathy to people still dealing with the 'morning' sickness as I find it really knocks me out, I probably spent most of the past 12 weeks looking really awful with people wondering what was wrong with me. At least I have started telling people now, so they have a good explanation!

... that's about it for now!

cass66 · 26/01/2008 22:15

well, my first born was in her first ballet show today. she was a little pink fairy in sleeping beauty. I cried. a lot. she looked so small, yet so confident and sweet in her proper pink tutu. and she is probably the youngest in the show being 5 1/2. and my youngest daughter aged 3 1/2 loved it and was entranced. we bought her a bunch of flowers at the end, which she was really chuffed about.

had a large glass of NZ sauv blanc tonight, and wow did I feel wobbly. one glass!!

enjoy the parties. the ballet star will be 6 2 weeks before my due date, although she wants to wait for the baby to arrive before her party. I think she'll change her mind, she's already planning it, and has decided who's coming and what theme etc.

EEC · 28/01/2008 08:06

Where is everyone - is there another thread that I can't find?

isaidno · 28/01/2008 08:08

I am knackered! And I want some sympathy. DS2s party went fine yesterday, but DS1 (asthmatic) was a bit wheezy all day. Eventually I ended up at the hospital with him on the nebuliser at 12:30am. Got home at 1 am, and tossed and turned til morning.

I NEED MORE SLEEP!!!!

DS1 is fine, but I will keep him off school to make sure, and so he can have a rest.

Hope everyone else is good

EEC · 28/01/2008 08:56

Poor you isaidno. I'm glad DS1 is fine now. Any cahnce of a rest for you today while DS has a nap?

I think I'm finally over the worst of the ms. Well, have had 3 clear days - what a difference it makes. I'm actually able to achieve things, and even have a bit of energy for the children. I hope it lasts... This beautiful crisp clear weather helps a bit too.

Minkus · 28/01/2008 08:58

Morning all

Welcome mummypig (great name!)

There there isaidno, a little bit of vrtual sympathy coming your way- sounds like you've had a really rough night.

We are here EEC, but don't I blimmin hate mondays

Aww at the little ballet dancer cass, not surpised you cried buckets, even without the hormones I probably would have too.

Hello everyone else- seems like it was a bit of a quiet day on here yesterday so hope you are all well.

I am starting to wind myself up about the chromosomal abnormality tests the mw took bloods for last week, worrying about what the results will be and what we would do if the risks are high Not normally a worier but this is really playing on my mind now.

Have a good day everyone
xxx

isaidno · 28/01/2008 09:06

Minkus - I had my triple test bloods taken last week too. Apparently no news is good news - if your results are high risk they phone you asap for more tests.

Thanks for the sympathy - feel a bit more awake now I'm washed and dressed. I'll probably crash about 3pm - DH is hoping to get out of work early, so I can go to bed!

Minkus · 28/01/2008 09:16

Do you know what they class as "high" risk? I know it's all relative but there must be a cut-off point where they decide to make the phone call. Not sure what the average risk is for my age group, I'm 32 soon so not knocking on the door of arthritis just yet but not a wee slip of a girl either

JODIEhavingababy · 28/01/2008 09:17

Morning ladies,

Isaidno, I really feel for you. I hope everything is OK now, and I'm sure it will all be better after a kip! (sending you a big cuddle and stroking of your hair. there there! ) and I'm glad the party went well

Welcome mummypig, hope everythiong has been going well for you so far! (Apparantly) it only gets better from now!

SK Did you say it was your birthday tomorrow? if not who did, or am I dreaming it? Anyway Happy Birthday to you (maybe) and your DD

I feel so rubbish today, DS has a cold and woke up about 3 times in the night, finally brought him into us at 5.30, where he started bouncing off the walls, and fell back to sleep at 7, when we had to get up anyway to take him to nursery, the little bugger! DH has really bad exma (however you spell it) and was scratching in his sleep last night, and not discreetly either, so I kept waking up to tell him off (I do feel sorry for him this morning, but not in the middle of the night!) and then I kept dreaming I was lactating (my boobs have been sooo sore this weekend) and I kept waking up in a panic thinking I'd spurted milk all over the bed!!!!!! Sorry to bore you with all the details, but I feel better now it's off my chest (quite litrally!! )

JODIEhavingababy · 28/01/2008 09:19

I knew I'd forget someone.. Cass, I bet you cried and cried at the Ballet, I nearly did and I don't even know you!!! bloody hormones!!!

Poledra · 28/01/2008 10:15

Morning all
DD1's b'day party went well on Sat - no tears, no tantrums, no physical violence - an outstanding result, I say. Also did the 'this time 4 years ago' thing (I was having a GA and an emergency section ).
Spent Sunday looking at cars. 3 child seats will not fit in my current estate, so looking at the MPVs. Any recommendations?

JODIEhavingababy · 28/01/2008 10:29

Morning Poledra,

Glad your party went well too, I bet you were exhausted!

We have just bought a Toyota Verso that has 7 seats (well 5 normally) but two hide in the boot for when you need them. I'm not sure about 3 car seats, but the backseat is huge and the boot is even bigger! And it's really lovely to drive. You can also move the back seats forward and back to have more/less leg room or boot space. Great for multiple buggies!

twinkle1 · 28/01/2008 12:41

poledra,
we have just bought a kia sedona last week.I love it they have some great deals on at the min.We have had a big car seat and 2 booster cushions on one row and they fit if a little snug Its better if we put one of the booster cushions in the third row.
hope this helps
twinkle

isaidno · 28/01/2008 13:11

minkus - I am 34 tomorrow, so I am not a wee slip either! Normal risk for Down's for my age is 1 in 470 according to the midwife. High risk whatver your age is if the result is 1 in 250 or greater.

I'm sure you will still worry until you know the result, but that's the figures!!

RUMPEL · 28/01/2008 13:58

Hi All - not posted for a wee while. Been feeeling truly hideous - again. Puky again My LO is teething too so up and down just now. I am having major probs sleeping - I am a furnace at night and heads all over the place.

CASS - I used to bellydance too. For 4.5 years then when fell pg was too ill. Am hoping to start it again when this little blighter is out and a few months old. I took up pole dancing earlier this year - was great fun but have moved since and defo not suitable when pg

My labour story is:

36 hours - 21 active. DD was back to back but they didn't know for hours and hours. Wanted a water birth with minimal pain relief. Used a tens (great to begin with), then G&A in pool, then diamorphine - made me puke like the exorcist, then sreamed for epidural, they broke my waters, then had to put me on a syntocinon drip 'cos my contractions were not achieving anything (got stuck at 5 cms). Once I was fully dilated they gave me an hours rest (fab) then they allowed me an hour to push her out - which I did with the help of my Mammy and DH. I tore - don't know how badly. The synotometrine jag made me puke buckets again and didn't work - the umbilicol cord snapped and I ended up in theatre to have the pacenta manually removed and get stitched up Was tremendous.

BUT - no matter how horrid the labour is - it only lasts a while, whereas pg lasts for what feels like forever. I am soooo looking forward to labour as it means I will have a new LO and not be pregnant anymore - yippee!!!!

I am open minded about this time - whatever happens happens as long as LO is okay that is all that matters.

Haven't done the quiz yet need to go as LO is calling.

Sorry to sound like a maoning minnie - just having a soundoff ad DH is away for a week.

Hope you are all well.xxx

Anyone heard how DISNEYSTAR is doing?
LAZYHIPPO - how about you?

Poledra · 28/01/2008 14:02

Happy birthday for tomorrow isaidno. You and Minkus are both but slips of girls - I was 37 last month!

MissChika · 28/01/2008 14:11
