emmy6781 · 23/01/2008 19:47

DS was breech so I had a c section so no experience of labour or anything like that. I was knocked out for it and when I woke up they handed me a beautiful baby boy it was quite cool. Now baby 2 is on the way midwife has told me they will not do a c section unless absolutly ness, damm I might have to push this time and I am terrified! Almost willing baby not to turn!

ScottishSusan · 23/01/2008 19:56

Hi All

Feeling a bit better now after a few rubbish days

it has taken me a good 20 mins to catch up with thread

Birth details

DS1 - induced at 40+18 in labour for 38 hours - no tearing

DS2 - induced at 40 +5 in labour for 13 hours - no tearing

DS 3 - went into labout 6 days before date - delivered 2 hours later - no tearing

DD - went into labour 7 days before dates - delivered 1hr and 45 mins later - no tearing

DS 4 - went into labour day before due date - delivered at home 1 hr later - no tearing (planned home delivery)

Do you think this one will just drop out without me noticing? I wish!!

Take care everyone!!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 23/01/2008 19:59

ooh susan if only! I had first epidural with dc5! the midwives were in shock!

sweetkitty · 23/01/2008 20:42

Susan - I am hoping this one pops out like a large poo in fact DP has said I would like to go upstairs for the loo and come back down with a baby, if only!

FoghornLeghorn · 23/01/2008 21:13

Susan, that is very reassuring to read I feel slightly better

50 stitches, wow, I'm amazed you went for it another three times!

Although I do find it reassuring that you didn't need more, friend told me that as scar tissue doesn't stretch you're more likely to have an episiotomy again if you had one before. The midwife said 'not necessarily' though!

I mentioned my current crunchie addiction to a work colleague today and she tells me that I should be careful how much I eat because if the mother overeats then the baby will grow up conditioned to overeat genetically. I mean, how unhelpful is that??! The more I think about it the more annoyed I get. Jeez, I only have one a day, and not every day.

Am also annoyed with myself because driving home from ante-natal yoga class this evening I somehow drove into a massive pothole, car went 'bang' and when I got home the tyre was hissing and then went totally flat. So now I have to trawl round tomorrow to find another tyre which apparently will cost me £80-100 (it's my brother's car and he's insisting on good tyre, bah!). Boooo

isaidno · 24/01/2008 07:38

ScottishSusan - thank you for having good births!
Min912 - who cares how many crunchies you're having? The sugar will help you concentrate while driving...
cass66 - I would go for a planned section if I were you - save yourself the worry and hassle!
emmy - welcome - have you put yourself on the list?
everyone else - good morning!

I would like to share intimate details with you this morning.....DH and I actually had sex last night. I think it was part gratitude for letting have my nice car, but it was very good! After the initial cries from me to be gentle because everything is too sensitive, I managed to relax and enjoy it!

Sorry if that was tmi over breakfast!

FoghornLeghorn · 24/01/2008 07:39

I had an episiotimy & stitches with DD1 - No episiotimy with DD2 but tore to buggery, in 3 different places.
I think my fanjo actually exploded

Minkus · 24/01/2008 08:19

Lol isaidno, really laughing at the "gratitude for new car" rumpy pumpy! What happens if he does something really romantic like cook a candlelit dinner?!

Min912 how at your colleague! Does she have any children herself? Obviously has no idea of how inappropriate her comment was either way.

Nice reading everyone's birth stories. My first birth was fairly straightforward- waters broke at 11pm, ds born at 3.20am with aid of a TENS machine and gas and air. Wanted an episiotomy but got to the hospital too late grrrr. Tore a little bit, had 2 stitches. Relatively "easy" I guess. So hope this one is similar as now I know I can do it I'm really looking forward (yes, really!) to doing it again. First time mums get told so many horror stories, they aren't all bad. In fact I think there are quite a few threads with positive birth stories that might be worth reading for a bit of reassurance. (I'm still a bit scared myself so will be searching for them soon)

Have a good day all
xxx

Min912 · 24/01/2008 09:08

Yes my colleague has 2 children and is also a counsellor!! She just has this habit of saying things to me that I guess are originally well-intentioned but only result in getting my back up. I am practising the 'smile graciously and say nothing' approach. Fortunately our schedules don't cross much anymore!

Tee hee at the gratitude sex - perhaps you should change your nickname to 'isaidyesanditwasverygood'?!!

twinkle1 · 24/01/2008 09:28

Morning all,

DS1 42 weeks induction (failed) emergency c/section

DD1 38 weeks breech planned c/section (so much calmer than first time) with spinal.

DS2 38 weeks planned c/section with spinal.

pigleychez · 24/01/2008 09:40

Morning all,

All this talk of birth stories.. Being my first im dreading it. Trying not to worry about it now and just deal with it at the time when i have no choice!

Waiting for a call back from a midwife at the mo. My community midwife is apparently off long term sick so she is being covered by others at my surgery but not as many hours. Because of this i cant get another appointment for at least 2 weeks when i was told to see her at 16 weeks (next week). Waiting for the hospital to ring back to say if someone can fit me in there or i have to wait. Being my first this is all confusing as i dont know what happens when.

Glad your feeling better today twinkle.

pigleychez · 24/01/2008 09:42

at isaidno... Sex!! whats that!? Far to tired for that!

JODIEhavingababy · 24/01/2008 09:56

Morning all!

you've made me want to cross my legs now! (don't know if it's the thought of birth or the thought of sex!

My DS was back to back and first stage of labour was long, first contraction was 11am on Weds morning and they FINAlLY broke my waters at 11am Friday morning! Tens machine was rubbish! (I just got bored with having to move the wires everytime I wanted to turn over!) I had 2 shots of pethadine. 2nd stage was MUCH easier, I felt the urge to push and an hour and 15 later my darling DS was born into the world at 5.45 pm... I had a lovely water birth and am hoping to god I can have the same again! (but feel very sorry for the lady who's on 'seiving duty!')

Would love to have a home birth, but really want a couple of days in the hospital as I had trouble BF last time and want some more support this time. It's a lovely Midwife led centre and they are brill! I'm actually quite looking forward to it!

I'm not quite in maternity clothes yet, just the jeans as my jeans are getting uncomfortable. I tend to live in trackie bottoms and combats anyway! (since I don't go anywhere nice anymore)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/01/2008 11:38

had to tell you all - after an emotional day yesterday (funeral) the baby kicked and kicked last night and dh felt him/her it was really lovely!!!

MrsHOP · 24/01/2008 11:40

Morning all

Sex? oooh I forgot about that!

I had quite an enlightening conversation with DH last night - I was (finally) reading my pregnancy book and said to him "you know my boobs will leak milk!" to which he replied "Er thanks, I don't think I need to know about THAT side of being pregnant" !!!

Methinks someone is in for a bit of a shock...

Had an unsuccessful jeans mission in covent garden last night, great selection of long-length Tshirts in H&M though, in a rainbow of colours! A fiver each, which didn't seem so bad.

gillythekid · 24/01/2008 13:42

Oh my God. I'm having an out of bed experience!! I'm even planning to go to the shops and interact with other humans. I've got clothes on. Could this be the beginning of the end of feeling like utter shite? My sinuses still seem to be full of cotton wool but I seem to have disembarked from the tugboat in a force 9 gale that I've been a reluctant passenger on for the last 15 weeks. Had a sexual dream about DH last night, he might even get some if this exuberance stretches till this evening. Rock n roll.

isaidno · 24/01/2008 14:29

sounds like you're having a good day gilly!!

ScottishSusan · 24/01/2008 16:05

SEX???? DD has taken up residence again in our bed and I'm never awake past 10pm so can't really imagine IT at the moment!

Mind you don't you think pregnancy makes you a little horny especially in the later stages? Problem is....I usually want quick satisfaction but that's not usually what happens....too BIG and uncomfortable for all that huffing and puffing for too long!! hee! hee! What are we like ......if our dh's and dp's knew what we dicussed

Feeling much better but suddenly have bigish bump. Told my class yesterday so they're all excited... all the girls want me to name the baby after them if it's a girl - bless!!
Wearing the only pair of maternity trousers I own.... Next leather look... very nice but not very functional! I sold everything else last year thinking my baby days were over....hmm! So spent today browsing and shopping on ebay.

Got bloods on Monday morning and appointment with midwife and then my next appointment is 19 week scan on 22 Feb. After that I start to see midwife at local surgery from about 26 weeks until hopefully good home delivery.....funny it sounds so quick when you write it down....

Take care all!! xxxxxxxxxxx

Minkus · 24/01/2008 16:30

Hello Poledra, welcome to our merry little throng! Another one on baby #3, there are quite a few of you now.

Gilly steady on love, you sound like you might be starting to feel a bit more... normal and as for sex well indeed a few of us seem to be ready to take the, er, plunge again. I do miss it, when pg with ds we were filthy in middle trimester and I am just waiting for the filth to return- poor dh is fit to burst but I just can't be arsed at the moment like you susan!

Pigley don't worry about the fear, think you'd be a little bit bonkers if you weren't just a tad scared- after all its not every day your fanjo turns inside out and spews forth a whole other person

And yay PaulaYBF at your dh feeling baby kick! Must have been lovely for him.

Have been shopping today and bought maternity tights. And that was it. Just couldn't be bothered to trawl round the shops which is sooo unlike me, normally I'm like a mad thing posessed. Tell a lie I did also buy some more wool so I can continue knitting a little blanket I've started for the bambino. But nowt exciting

gillythekid · 24/01/2008 16:46

Welcome Poledra! I managed over an hour out of the house today but now have a whopping headache and will have to nap. I've disappeared from the list, how did that happen? I'm due on 14th and am in Hackney if someone can reinstate me? (such a technophobe!)
