Hi everyone,

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats on scans and baby movements!! It seems like a lot has been happening over the past few days!!

TJuice - glad to hear it all went well with work. I've started telling a few more people now - it still feels a little surreal though!!

I too am also freaked out about buying stuff. Haven't even thought about buying anything yet - although my sister and brother have told me not to buy stuff as they have loads of things they want to offload. I think I might want some new things though as this is my first baby!!

Hope those with colds and bugs aren't feeling too down.

EEC · 15/01/2008 14:31

I haven't thought of buying anything yet either. I have nothing as gave all my old stuff away when we decided not to have any more last year! I think I will wait a few months yet.

I think I may be feeling flutterings, but not sure yet. Can't wait to feel them properly. Feeling really low today - hope it's just a blip in the hormones! Cold still dragging on.

isaidno · 15/01/2008 14:54

EEC - I am bored, fed up and grumpy today - so you are not alone!

I haven't bought anything yet, bar a few 2nd hand washable nappies. Trouble is I don't really need anything - unless it is a girl and I can get rid of all the blue!

I always wait until the 20 week scan to buy stuff - don't know why - superstition I suppose.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 15/01/2008 15:03

i have been feeling this baby move since 10/11 weeks
i did with the last two pg's and infact this one less than them ( placenta front wall could be the reason)

i think i was about 15/16 with number one pigley

i was asked at the nuchal if i wanted to know the sex but declined!

got dc4 a home for a few days which is actually kind of nice because dc5 loves it and i love the company

had some bd news today so its lovely to have someone to snuggle up to - even though he keeps asking the most inappropriate questions about death!

Hope you are all well - i feel much much better - not sick - only retch when drinking the lactulose

sorry to mention the subject but please reassure me I am not the only one....

I have had soooo much wind since I conceived that my stomach is constantly squirming and bubbling and feeling weird. I expect I'll only know it's the baby moving when it gives me a proper kick in the ribs!

opinions please- I'm going to sell my Mini cooper and buy a sensible family car- the options are Focus, Qashqai, Golf or Octavia. Any advice?

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2008 18:46

People keep suggesting that I'll need to get rid of my mini since I have number two on the way. I just don't think i can do it. I love my mini

Minkus · 15/01/2008 19:09

Hello girls

Not posted for a few days as having some work done in the house (trying to get it finished before baba arrives) and things have been a bit of a pickle.

Am with you EEC and Isaidno about the grumpy hormones, my poor dh looks at me sometimes as if to say "who stole my wife and replaced her with this old hag?"

Re: cars, I've had a focus in the past and dh has a golf at the moment and can recommend both. They are fairly similar in terms of boot size (quite big) but I think the focus had the edge on space. Reckon you'll miss out on the "personality" of a mini cooper over either a focus or golf though (esp if you get a focus) - I had the focus after selling my BMW Z3 when ds was about 3 months old because it was soo impractical and cried when I made the swap. Silly how attached I got to it but it was as familiar and loved as a favourite handbag (and sadly just as messy)

PaulaYates- sorry to hear of your sad news, a cuddle with the dcs sounds like it was just the ticket.

It is still hammering with rain here (Herefordshire) - DS's nursery is just over the county border in Gloucester and everyone there is absolutely bricking it that the flooding will be as bad as last July (hope this July is better!)

Hope everyone is doing well- yay for feeling the babas move!

sweetkitty · 15/01/2008 21:04

hello all, all this talk of cars especially mini coopers, that would be my car of choice if I didn't have DC but I have and about to have 3 so people carrier it is. Would have to say a Focus would probably have a bit more space than a Golf. I have a Clio right now and it's been fine got a double buggy in the back but the problem is now if DP drives it DD1 can't extend her legs and also getting them in and out can be a pain especially if they aren't in the mood. I had a look at a Qashqai in a shopping centre a while back and it looks really impressive, don't know about any of the technical bits but looks nice

hatrick - poor you talk about a bad day? Hope it's improved and you are relaxing now.

min - I kind of got bogged down with the reusables, I couldn't get them dry (was using mostly tots bots though some rainbows and some bamboozles) was Scotland in the winter and with 2 in nappies it was v hard. Really regret getting rid of them though. I had some funzi bunz as well they were great looked fab and really comfy but leaked like mad, DD1 was a very heavy wetter.

foghorn - I think finding out the sex is a very personal thing, bit like Marmite either you really want to or you really don't. I've known with both so I don't know what not knowing would be like but it took nothing away from their births IMO. I will be finding out again, I'm like you need to know whether to throw out all the pink clothes in my loft or get them done for washing!

gillythekid - your honeymoon sounds fab and I'm sure you will have a great time, lovely way to do something just the two of you before the baby comes along too.

Nothing much to report here, cold bubbling along not too bad just annoying.

sweetkitty · 15/01/2008 21:05

Haven't bought anything either, we have always waited until after the 20 weeks scan too so we know what colour to buy. All I really need is a new pram and car seat. Oh and a whole load of new clothes if this one turns out to be a blue one (doubt it though).

LikerabbitsBX · 15/01/2008 23:39

Hi everyone!

I had my 12 week scan today, was told I was 12+4 instead of my original 12+1.

NT was 1.1mm which is pretty good apparantly, all look in the right place.

I am so pleased all ok!

Hope all ok?

FoghornLeghorn · 16/01/2008 07:50

Hatrick - Sorry you had such a shite day yesterday - hope car isn't too expensive .
Sweetkitty - trouble is I don't even have loads of girls stuff, I gave it all away. My cousin has a baby at 28 weeks and didn't even know they were expecting until she was in labour - I figured they needed all the stuff more than I needed to keep it just in case.
We literally have nothing

sweetkitty · 16/01/2008 10:43

Morning all feeling a bit today don't know why January blues maybe?

foghorn - good excuse to buy some new things though, don't think I would ever tire of buying baby things. I even had a wee look in Adams this morning

JODIEhavingababy · 16/01/2008 10:55

Morning girlies,

have had a quick look though, and my you do talk alot, I can't keep up, so in general, for those who arent feeling well, or have others that aren't feeling well, for those going on or planning on holidays and for those who can finally feel there babies move!

I have used re-useable nappies from day one with DS and love them! I reckon I've had my monies worth, I used Onelife nappies

www.onelifeworld.co.uk

and still use them now, they're fab!

Went window shopping for double buggies yesterday, I'm dreading trying to steer them around the shops! I'm awful with my M&P one as it is!!!!

FoghornLeghorn · 16/01/2008 10:58

Have left the decision with DH now, I am generally not fussed either way, I'd happily know or I'd happily leave it. He is fighting with himself over what he wants so am leaving it up to him and he can decide

JODIEhavingababy · 16/01/2008 11:01

I think we are going to find out, names are an issue, can only think of nice girls names...

sweetkitty · 16/01/2008 11:18

I absolutely cannot wait to find out, wish it were tomorrow.

Once I do I still have the "oh what will they look like?" thing to go through, will they have the same colouring as the other two or will DP get one with his dark hair and eyes or will my supergenes make it again

I had a dream last night I was holding a newborn blonde haired blue eyed boy and he was having a good old root around for milk (but I don't actually know if he were mine)although why would I be trying to BF someone elses newborn

is is a sign???

must get off this computer and go get DD1 from nursery and actually do something around the house

isaidno · 16/01/2008 16:32

Hello all

Sweetkitty - I have to find out the sex of this baby because I find myself fantasising over having a girl - I seem to be unable to think about boy babies! I do not want to convince myself, then get another blue one! That sounds as if I don't want a boy. Of course that would be fine - I just need to know this time before the pink thinking gets out of control.

Still haven't got hold of my midwife, but left a message at the community midwife office for her. She is in on Saturday, so hopefully she will call me.

I have started worrying about varicose veins. Last 2 pregnancies I only got one - first timers look away now - but it was on my fanny . And I think it's on its way again....

Keep looking at pushchairs in magazines and shops even though I'm not buying a new one this time!

paulaplumpbottom · 16/01/2008 16:47

I have never heard of varicose veins on a bum before. odd

isaidno · 16/01/2008 16:48

ppb - I think you may be American? I'm even more to say the vein is on my front bottom...

paulaplumpbottom · 16/01/2008 16:50

Oh dear. Does it hurt?

sweetkitty · 16/01/2008 16:52

I forgot the US confusion with fanny = bum

isaidno - told you we can always do a swap I think I'm having another girl not that I mind but I think poor DP would like an ally.

isaidno · 16/01/2008 16:52

not yet - but when it comes it throbs especially at the end of the day. Normal advice is to elevate the area - quite difficult in this case!!

paulaplumpbottom · 16/01/2008 16:55

I have lived here for 8 years and nobody has told me. I am now cringing at some conversations I have had with people. Why did nobody say to me!!!!!!!!

twinkle1 · 16/01/2008 17:09

Am laughing lots at bum/fanny confusion I worked in the usa for a year and taught at a girl scout camp, wondered why i got odd looks when telling girls "where are your bum bags?? and sit your bum down in the chair!!!! quickly learnt fanny packs, hinnie in seat.
For the record vulval varacosies are quite common and very painful, saw a lot when i was in midwifery. Ice packs or sanitary pads and tight knickers can be useful
hope that helps
twinkle
