Hi All

Yes I too have achy boob but not all the time but it's the itchy nipples that are driving me mad!

Hope you feel better soon Kitty

I was in asda this morning and had to get out quick and eat something - thought I was going to pass out or throw up or both - went all hot and shakey.....I hate that! I have very low blood pressure even lower in pregnancy and when I get hungry it slides down really low. I have been feeling better lately and thought this wouldn't start for a while yet as it's usually later on that I get it. Ah well time to start carrying the digestives in my pocket....

I'm still wearing normal clothes but feeling a bit uncomfortable. Think I'll have to get a pair of early trm jeans as all my usual maternity gear is still far too big. Maybe just get some leggings and joggers....
Off to do school ironing and paperwork for class tomorrow xx

pigleychez · 13/01/2008 15:45

Welcome to jocesar. A boy

Begining of last year i was a size 14 but by June (our wedding) had slimmed to a size 12- even 10 in some shops!
Thankfully i hadnt had chance to clear out/throw out all the 14 jeans so thats what im wearing now. Many of my jeans are quite low slung/ hipster so are lasting for now.
Sad that all those lovely new size 10 and 12's havent had much wear. Suppose its an incentive to get back into them after baby.

Just been working out my maternity leave and holiday. I have 23 days holiday to take before i leave begining of June. I can put 2 weeks ontop of my mat leave but have to take 13 days before mid may. Been a nightmare fitting it all in around other staffs holiday! Oh well.. any time off is good time off!

sweetkitty · 13/01/2008 16:38

Thank you for all the well wishes hate this time of year for colds and the DDs just bring them all in and I seem to catch them.

jocesar - hello and welcome your due the same day as me and congrats on a boy as well, we're not having our private scan for another 7 or so weeks so baby's sex remains a mystery still.

pigley - I have dropped a dress size every time I have a baby, size 12 pre DD1, was an 8 after DD2 (best diet ever a toddler and a very hungry baby weight fell off) wouldn't worry about weight just now, enjoy getting fatter knowing you are growing a healthy baby, plenty of time to get it back off, think of all those lovely summer walks pushing a new pram. I did what you are doing re holidays with DD1 except she actually arrived during the first week of my 2 week hol prior to maternity leave!

Scottishsusan - you watch that blood pressure get some Mars Bars in your bag.

Paula - congrats on feeling the baby move it's great isn't it? I actually like that 5 quiet minute sin bed at night so I can feel it move.

isaidno - bless your DS1 very cute, it's a long wait for them though until July. DD1 said the other day that the baby is going to sit on her knee in the car and she will stop DD2 hitting it!

mcchesers - welcome back glad you had a nice time, I'm inbetween a size 8-10 (more like a 10 these days though) give me a shout on FB thanks.

DP and I were discussing prams today he said there is a high probability I can get my P&T although wonder what he after

pigleychez · 13/01/2008 17:02

Anybody been on Holiday before at about 20 weeks? how did you find it?

Thinking of having a cheapy holiday before baby comes - plus make the most of all my time off.

Any Ideas of a destination?
Somewhere warm ( in feb) but not too far.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 13/01/2008 20:52

I went to the maldives at 24 weeks - our last hoorah before DD was born. I found it absolutely fine! We had a great time. I did find the sun hotter than I would have done if I wasn't PG and I sat in the shade the whole time (and I mean the whole time) and plastered myself in high factor stuff and got the best tan I've ever had in my life. Another plus for being pregnant

I have tonsillitis again - 2nd time since christmas day and I'm feeling so sorry for myself. Dreading this week looking after DD when all I want to do it curl up with a hot water bottle. I have to take her to the hospital for a follow up appointment in the morning too - she sprained her foot badly 10 days ago and it isn't improving

sweetkitty · 13/01/2008 21:57

pigley - we went to New York when I was 27 weeks with DD1, it was great but tiring. A bit of sun would be great and a final holiday before you become a Mum in fact can I come with you?

PTIYPASI - tonsilitis yuck poor you, I've got the start of a cold and thats bad enough, hope your DD feels better soon as well.

HPG · 13/01/2008 22:22

Hi all!! I haven't posted anything for ages!!

WE had our first scan yesterday - it was amazing! The baby was jumping around and sucking it's thumb.... i am so emotional right now that i started crying and hubbie admitted that he felt overwhelmed as well!

We went window shopping for buggies after - OMG, there are so many.. we are so confused! We both like the Quinny Buzz, does anybody have one and if so, how do you find it?

mcchesers · 14/01/2008 00:19

congrats HPG, how exciting!!

I'm a first timer here, so have no idea about prams/pushchairs. My MIL has offered to pay for a pram "money is no object" she says but I picked out one she thought was ugly and ...well there you go. I just don't like these big silver cross old fashioned prams. It's not practical.

Just like you said Sweetkitty, MIL's just smile and nod. She's mentally stuck in scotland 1975, so I gave her a modern parenting magazine to peruse and she was pretty surprised at the priced of things.

EEC · 14/01/2008 07:27

Hi there jocesar - congrats. I went to London Fetal Med centre for scan and bloods to and agree they were great. My sonographer was lovely and gave me loads of time. Felt very confident.

I'm going on holiday at 19 weeks. Can you believe it. we're going skiing! Haven't been for 12 years since before DS was born and have been yearning to go for years... Finally we go and I won't be able to ski (or sledge or iceskate.....) The children are really excited about it, so I know I should just be pleased for them, and try and enjoy the mountain air, but am feeling green with envy....

FoghornLeghorn · 14/01/2008 07:43

DH & I went to Lanzarote when I ws 22 weeks pregnant with DD1. Was absolutely fine, flight was relatively comfortable, it too found it hotter than I usually do and couldn't be in the sun for too long. What I would give to be going on holiday right about now ?

sweetkitty · 14/01/2008 09:34

EEC - even a break away will be good, pity you can't do the skiing but you will probably still enjoy yourself. I'm with Foghorn would love a holiday but don't think we will fit one in this year

HPG - congrats on your scan, re: buggies have a look at the reviews on here and go to a big pram shop and have a good look and push of them all. It's a very personal thing choosing a pram, depends on whehter you walk a lot and where, is it for in the boot of a car, do you want a travel system that converts to a buggy etc

mcchesers - I agree think my mother is stuck in 1975 Scotland as well, if I had a £1 for every time she said "well when I had you XXXXX" but that was over 30 years ago things have changed a bit. She bought my first pram which was v kind of her but you know what I wish she hadn't. She would say to people "look what she bought with MY money, it's orange (it was red), then when I got another one 8 weeks later (OK I admit I got the wrong one) she wasn't very happy. Sometimes I want to give her the money back (sorry off on a tangent there). Silvercross prams look lovely but they just aren't that practical.

paulaplumpbottom · 14/01/2008 10:24

What could be nicer than being curled up in a beautiful lodge reading a book by the fire while people bring you cocoa. Being able to take lovely walks in the snow. Beautiful

RUMPEL · 14/01/2008 11:54

HI All,

HPG - we have a Quinny Buzz and the dreamicot. Got it 'cos there are only 3 that will fit in the boot of my Mini Cooper! I like it as we are both tall and you can adjust the handle height to quite high. You can buy hooks for bags form perfectly happy people (online). The only thing is it does pop up really easily. It comes with a strap to stop this happening but the instructions are crap and we thought it was just an 'extra' bit so it is long gone now. Hence the pram pops up when getting it out of the boot. Make sure they give you a good whirl of it in the shop as I sadi the instruction srae rubbish. My Bro has a hercules raptor and it is fab - very sturdy. all depends on what car you have though. I bought a buugy for shopping - can't remeber what kind but the wheels are too close together for my feet and I kept tripping over it! So I got a petitie star - which is fab for shopping and is uber light and fits in the boot really well. The Quinny is great for steering around.

I would hate to be going off on a plane when pg. My Dh is off to Singapore next week but I am dead scared of flying and I need to pee every 5 mins! We are going to Creiff Hydro in March or April for a few days. It is just up the road but they have great facilities for LO's and a spa, adult only pool etc. Just to relax really.

Well I probably won't be around for a week or so. I am hoping to go up to see my parents tomorrow if I feel okay to drive. Still a bit sick here and very very tired. My Dad is going in for an op so I thought it would cheer him up to see DD as they haven't seen her since October. I am a tad worried as I am not the most tolerant of people and my Grandma is staying with them. She is a Jehovah Witness ( a complete fundametalist) and it does my head right in!!! I find it very hard to let it go oin one ear and out the other. Pg make syou even more irritable so fingers crossed I can keep my big trap shut!

SCOTTISHSUSAN - I ahev very low BP too and faint easily. I keep a stash off cereal bars in my bag all through pg and bf to keep me going. The only thing is last pg my BP went really high the last 2 monthd - weird.

Anyway must go as need to pack and eat again.

Still no weight gain here - yeah!!! In my maternity stuff now though. I ate almost a huge bag of sweet popcorn last night and my tum was gargantuan afterwards

Take care all - LAZYHIPPO AND DISNEYSTAR - hope things are better for you both (hugs)
xxxxxx

TJuice · 14/01/2008 12:54

hi ladies

so relieved that i told work now . . . can finally relax into the whole thing. everyone was so sweet too . . .

anyway, as if you needed an excuse to eat chocolate, check this link out

www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4854

how doesn't want happy, smiley babies?

HPG · 14/01/2008 14:08

I told everyone in my office too, so i know what you feel like TJuice about finally relaxing and enjoying the pregnancy!!!

EEC · 14/01/2008 15:04

bring on the dairymilk!

pigleychez · 14/01/2008 17:00

TJuice- What a fab link! I dont feel so guilty now at just scoffing thoses chocs!

Being a first timer the whole buggy thing was given me nightmares! Finally come up with one we both like... Yes its expensive but being our first and all... indulge me!
Think this will be babies first set of wheels:
here

isaidno · 14/01/2008 17:43

looks nice pigleychez - I like it when the baby can face forwards or back.

I notice it is dot com only - I would recommend you see it in real life if poss. You might not like how it feels or steers, or the size etc.

Been looking at cars today, and going to test drive some xsaras on Thursday, and prob a scenic. I am not interested in cars but it was quite exciting thinking about 3 kids in the back - one being a teeny baby! DS2 who is nearly 3 wanted the convertible - so he has the makings of an impractical bloke!

pigleychez · 14/01/2008 17:49

Isaidno- we "test drove" it yesterday and loved it. Not that heavy, folds up easily and small and has the features we wanted Ie. lie flat and seat either way.

Whats ever better... just been searching online to see if anywhere else sells it and theres an ebay shop thats selling it complete with car seat for £349.99!! Perfect!

sweetkitty · 14/01/2008 17:50

pigley - like the pushchair - what do you get for that do you have to buy the carrycot and car seat separate? Like the idea of the carry cot for lie flat newborn and then a pushchair that faces you for toddler. Not so keen on the colours do they do any other colours? Suppose you can accessorise pink or blue once you know Mothercare is expensive so have a shoparound like on the ebay shops or cosatto website will have a list of stockists so you can have a try.

isaidno - I know 3 babies in the back scares me. I am actually terrified of getting this new car on Thursday need to get used to it though. I plan to put baby in the front with air bag disabled during the week when DP not here or he can climb in the back when I pick him up at night.

sweetkitty · 14/01/2008 17:51

pigley glad you are getting a good deal

pigleychez · 14/01/2008 18:05

Sweetkitty-
The £349 is the pushchair, carrycot and car seat. so bit of a bargin!

Most places ive seen sell the pushchair/carrycot for about £400 but have to buy the car seat seperately (another £70/80)

They also do it in red (cherry) and a Navy blue (ink) we dont intend to find out babies sex so black is the most neuteral.

sweetkitty · 14/01/2008 18:18

That's a great price pigley, it was the orange I wasn't too keen on but I bet you accessorise it anyway. I'm getting black too and I will know the sex.

I think you've got a great deal though am quite that I have to get a double now. I always fancied a carrycot type pram.

pigleychez · 14/01/2008 18:30

Well thats it- Just bought it!

All begining to feel real now... bought a pram and DH came back from shopping on fri with loadsa packs of Nappies! Seems Sainsburys were doing 1/3 off so he stocked up (bless him)

House is already begining to be engulfed in Baby goods!
