Can't quite believe it. Got a very very faint BFP today. Been ttc no2 for ages now.

Don't want to say too much until I have told RL but reckon I am due around about 8th Sept or so.

Where did you read that about MS starlight. Maybe that's why I don't have any MS yet.

I am ALLwillBeRevealed btw Can't be arsed changing my name and back all the time.

See, told you that you would say "who???"

hopefully · 09/01/2008 14:55

Oooh, you have a name! how exciting! you'll have to update the list with your 'real' name now.

Do you think I'm allowed to go to the doc's to talk about my mc phobia? This is going to sound so pathetic, but it is literally stopping me getting any work don because I am so worried about it. I almost had a panic attack last night at the thought of it, and it happened again at lunch today. There's no reason for it at all, but I can't get the worry out of my head and it is almost crippling. i feel a bit insane now

Ooh, she sounds almost as normal as me!

I think probably my doctor will tell me to get a grip and send me away, but might go next week if I'm still being crippled by panic. Am hoping it just a crazy hormone surge and I have latched onto this fear for some reason. Ah, the joys of hormones!

I so need to go home and put my feet up for a while. Am stressed at work, which i think is not helping my panic. might take a day or two off next week.

Skimty · 09/01/2008 18:21

My computer is so slow...it takes me ages to read everything!!

Hopefully, you could always be a bit sneaky and tell your GP that you had some spotting. I had spotting at 7 weeks last time and my GP sent me in for a scan just to be on the safe side. It depends how comfortable you are with that....

For those teachers a Septemeber baby is the best one possible (according to ATL) DS is September and I was teaching last time. Not only do you get the summer holidays before you have to take you maternity leave but also you can 'return to work' at the beginning of the summer holidays 2009 and have that paid too (even if you're resigning!!)

Gosh, now I sound like someone that only plays the system. I'm not really like that!!

Excitable · 09/01/2008 20:29

Gracie I've had sex a couple of times since I found out I was pregnant, but I didn't like it very much! This might be tmi, but since we're sharing , my sore boobs were swinging all over the place and were sometimes chafing on the duvet [ow emoticon] and it was just really uncomfortable. Now I feel sick and I don't want to even contemplate it, but DH is saying he wants to try this weekend. Ooooohhhhh dear. I love him and I want to make him happy and I don't want to tell him no, but I'm regretting saying yes already. I might make an excuse this weekend yet...

mustsleep lol - congratulations on your nice big pelvis! I got prodded by my doctor too and she confirmed from that prodding that I was as pregnant as I thought I was. As soon as I came home, I lay down on the space room floor and DH and I prodded my belly to see if we could feel anything different. It does feel a bit different. Has anyone else tried this? Mine's felt different every day. Perhaps you might try this hopefully if you're looking for a symptom? It sounds to me like your long commute is driving you a bit nutty and combined with your looming deadline, if that was me, I'd be certifiable right now. You're doing really well and the sooner you write that note to Personnel the better, I think. Make sure that you include this as a reason why it's too much for you. Just re-read that and I don't mean to imply that you're nutty, just that this would be a lot to cope with for anyone.

I had a funny symptom last night. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. This is a new experience for me as this never normally happens. When I came back to bed I saw thousands of little twinkly lights on my retina like when you look into a camera and it flashes, but a galaxy of lights instead of just one. It was really pretty and just before I went straight back to sleep, I just had time to think. "I wonder if there's something wrong with me..."

I'm not super smelling anymore, but I am super tasting. Which means I don't really have much interest in spicy food at the moment, but I'm getting so excited about really plain food that I would have said was tasteless last week, but now a piece of toast is just a taste sensation! Is this familiar to anyone else either?

Excitable · 09/01/2008 20:32

soamipregnant are you still lurking? Come out, come out, we'd love you to join us. It's okay if you're feeling a bit wobbly about being pregnant, lots of us are too!

Dragonhart · 09/01/2008 20:47

Soooooooo sick (as in green with being sick) Roll on 2nd trimester!

I did 5 tests with ds1. Mostly because Ibought some on a 3 for 2 offer and though 'I wont need them for ages so might as well do them' then when I got preg when ds was 8 months though 'doh!' Only done two this time and still havent got round to making a doctors appt yet. Poor third child syndrome!

at pelvic checks! Last two appts with doc to tell them I was preg, they just trusted me. Didnt even ask if I'd done tests!

Hopefully- Cant do any harm to go to talk about it to the doctors. Seems endless at the moment but sure it will seem ages away when we get to sept! xxx

Dragonhart · 09/01/2008 20:49

If you are feeling wobbly about being preg, then join the club over here! Definately feeling very about it all! xxx

Excitable · 09/01/2008 21:12

is a very good way of putting it. What on earth have I done to myself? Did I really say I wanted this? Oh dear, guess I'm stuck with it now. Quite happy about having a baby, but not happy about any of my symptoms, oh - or the fact that my life will never be the same again. This is so confusing...

workstostaysane · 09/01/2008 21:31

hello all, first off let me just say i've gone back to my original nickname as for a while i was hidingbehindthesofa for one reason and another.
just found out am expecting dc2 sept 10th/11th ish and am VERY excited.
really good to hear that some of you are bf-ing dc1s. i was thinking about stopping with 17mo dd but she really goes nuts every time i try. threw up all her porridge when her father tried to feed her before she had fed from me yesterday morning. so have decided to hold off and try again later. but really interesting to hear about bf making you less prone to MS. last time it was pretty bad, but haven't felt much at all this time. will go back and read some more posts now. are you intended to tandem feed starlight and mawbroon?

Sunshinemummy · 09/01/2008 22:11

Well we (me and DP) went to drs today as you need to book in early in our area as well. Felt very surreal, even though I've done it before. Doctor claims EDD is 4th September and the book he gave me said 3rd, so am sticking with 2nd for now. He said I won't see midwife until after nuchal fold, so be quite a while.

Symptoms are few and far between except for tiredness and weeing all the time. Have had the odd naseau pass over but nothing serious. Can't remember when it kicked in last time, but was never very sick then.

Oh feel so sick today, stomach churning but also starving. Also so tired, really would like to go to bed and wake up on day of my 12 week scan. Think we all feeling it dragging til that point.
Hopefully we are all here to listen to you and you are not insane. Think it totally natural to be scared especially with your first.
As for sex we not had it since found out but that largely because DH gets bit freaked out and thinks its weird and will hurt the baby. I got sore boobs and asleep by 9pm every night so not exactly complaining about the lack of it

hopefully · 10/01/2008 09:19

Thanks for the support, excitable. I know you're not implying I've gone mad, it's ok! The exhaustion definitely makes it worse I have decided, as I am always most prone to random panicking when I'm knackered. It's going on my home working application, that's for sure!

Was chatting to dp about it last night and think we have pretty much decided that I'll get an early private scan. it's not a huge amount, and I feel a bit guilty if I go to the doctor and pretend not to know dates or be worried about pain - would feel a bit like jinxing it! Everyone is always so positive about private scan experiences that I figure it can't hurt, and we've got some spare cash as my sis is staying with us for a month or two and paying rent.

ps, have all the newbies added themselves to the list? Haven't seen it for a few posts...

hopefully · 10/01/2008 09:21

Oh, and thanks for support from everyone else too! meant to add that in. am brain dead.

Gracie14 · 10/01/2008 09:42

Morning, nausea getting worse its so hard hiding from everybody its definately going to be a long time until 12 weeks.

hopefully - Sorry to hear your having a hard time, I must admit I had a few 'panic' moments and had to come home from wherever I was and only since the scan have I relaxed abit more (still not completely but its helped) I know its still early days but I think a private scan is a good idea especially if it helps you relax even a little bit. Take care of yourself hun

workstostaysane - Congrats

Excitable - I know what you mean about loving the bland foods, its bread and cheese for me anything creamy has me heaving and can't contemplate spicy foods. Although I feel nauseous I'm so hungry at the same time its really weird stuff this pregnancy business

On another note had mothercare catelogue come through the door yesterday, had a quick flick through, how many buggies do they need to sell!!!! I won't have a clue where to start and there is a buggy in there that costs nearly £650

DebitheScot · 10/01/2008 10:06

NOt doing very well with the keeping it a secret thing, told someone else in my dept yesterday. Also I teach PE once a week and so was thinking maybe I should tell the head of PE. Oh and I should tell my head of dept prob in case she hears it from someone else.

Fuming at someone who I told as she's been going around telling everyone that I'm leaving in the summer. Since when does she have a right to do that?? I had told a few people that I was hoping to leave in the summer anyway (hoping to move back up to Scotland) but nothing was definate and its not up to her to tell people.

Skimpty I know what you mean about Sept being a good time for teachers to be due. I'm hoping that my materinity leave can start on 1st Sept (actually it has to start on a Sunday so whenever the Sunday before that is) so I can get paid in full for August. Not sure yet what to do about resinging. I can't see how I'd be able to get paid for summer next year as if I don't intend to go back at all I'll have to have resigned before then. I don't think a school would let you start back at the start of the summer holidays. Will prob just tell them when I notify them on when my maternity leave will start that I don't intend to come back at all (fingers crossed dh will get a job in Scotland so we can move).

that you live in Edinburgh Mawbroon, I went to Heriot-Watt uni so lived in Ed for 4 years. I'd go back there tomorrow if I could.

worktostaysane - if ds still wants to feed by then (he will be almost 3) then I am willing to give tandem feeding a go.

Debi - don't worry. Every single day I say to dh how I really appreciate that we were able to move back to Edinburgh after 3.5 years living in West Lothian. I hadn't realised that I was so attached to the place - I'm originally from Angus. If you do move back (or if you are here visiting) then give me a shout!

Re the equipment shopping. I got almost everything second hand and a lot of it was a bit useless. Hardly used the pram at all. If I were starting from scratch then I would by a good sling and a baby wearing kindercoat. I don't actually think I will use a pram or buggy at all for this next one.

Still no sickness here at all which is great, but I do have a disgusting cold. Bleugh.
