Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
katyt1 · 04/01/2008 22:24

gingeme - lots of nesting going on then!
we had a curry too - whilst watching die hard4, need some choclate to finish off a perfect evening

moomin - not irrational at all, i was worrying earlier, and was meant to go out with some other mums to a play place but one of the others invited us all over to hers instead & i was relieved
will chat to dh about it and try to get him to be careful at work too.
we all had it last christmas and it was miserable

madmouse - re the curtains, you're right of course, but we have a stone kitchen floor so no carpets to worry about, will get an offcut of cheap carpet just for under the pool but that doesn't matter if it gets wet, and we also have a plastic sheet that came with the pool. but the b&q stuff sounds good. oh, and get a bucket with a spout as dh said that would have been really useful last time, better than a normal bucket.
lol re irrational, dh just laughs at me too!!

hi awen

fluffymummy · 04/01/2008 23:20

Moomin - welcome, and I don't know whether you're being irrational or not but DH sent me a link to the bbc website yesterday and has been worrying at me about it ever since...although I'm not too sure how to go about avoiding catching it without completely hibernating...?

Madmouse - properly rofl'ed at you 'no, its not irrational as I feel it too'! but even more amused you noticed it immediately. I don't think any of us are exactly role models for rationality at the moment

Mixedmama - if you get online this weekend can you please let me know what you thought of UCH? I couldn't face going back to the Royal Free but am v nervous about no parking, ancient hospital, no bathrooms etc...doesn't help that I still haven't seen the labour ward or natural birth centre of course

Lucky - sorry about the tea. The other (less tasty but cheaper and possibly more effective) option is the loose leaf 'rasberry leaf tea' by the Cotswold company. Drawback is that it requires a teapot and strainer, but you get an awful lots more of it for your money and its 100% rasberry leaf, rather than mixed with other stuff. I know this for sure, as I bought both that and the Heath & Heather teabags yesterday, which taste nicer but have less rasberry leaf per cup, IYKWIM! I was really hoping your non-appearance yesterday meant you'd gone into labour...fingers crossed for you!

Lolo - don't you dare!! You stay here where you belong!!! OK, I guess I sympathise, but then I might also not pop until waaay late in the month and don't want to be billy-no-mates-no-baby on the Jan thread on my own. But no time to join you on the Feb one.....yet!

Nothing happening here...yesterdays tightenings have all disappeared, but I'm still only 37+4 so not complaining...especially since I've not finished work, have only just started nesting (although have now completed 50% of large bathroom cabinet, all tupperwares and started on cleaning nursery again...baby stuff all washed and in drawers etc about 2 weeks ago!), and would prefer to have a few days post-work pre-baby to get some daytime sleep/reading/cleaning done....

Love to everyone, hope you all have nice chilled weekends, and wishing a quick, smooth and easy labour to those who start tonight/tomorrow/Sunday!

Fluffy xxx

mum2sons · 05/01/2008 04:56

Can't sleep so am drinking hot ribena for my millionth cold and surfing. Should be nesting but everytime I tidy something, my 3 year old destroys my efforts!

Fluffy: I hear good things about the natural birth centre at UCH (I know one of the MWs there). I had DS1 at the main unit at UCH 12 plus years ago, not a good time BUT I think it has improved loads. I don't live in London anymore so cannot really give much of an opinion but thought I would let you know!

I think I have SPD as my pelvis feels like someone is pulling the bones in all directions. Trying to keep my legs together but as the baby's head is deeply engaged I can't!

I am also mega scatty at the moment and am sure I will be appearing on one of those youve been framed programmes soon after forgetting which side my petrol cap was on and trying to fill my car up 4 times unsuccessfully before driving off (I drove round to the other side of the forecourt to discover that it was still the wrong side). I also had to climb over the passenger seat to get in my car last week as I couldnt get through the space on the door side.

Better disappear off to bed again and try and sleep before 3 year old tells me it is "wake time".

Have a good weekend everyone x

MrsBiscuit · 05/01/2008 05:54

Hello,
Been lying in bed trying not to wriggle and wake DH up so decided to come downstairs and have first breakfast (second breakfast to follow at a more reasonable time ).

Congrats to Housemum and Sabinar . Like Angechica I'm loving the photos.

Mum2sons - I've got a brain full of fluff at the moment too - I went round a multi-storey car park three times yesterday trying to get out .

Madmouse, hope the SPD gets better. It sounds really painful, and don't blame you for having a few tears.

Still no signs of movement here but have now developed very sore hands from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which the MW says is normal should go once the baby's born.

Martha200 · 05/01/2008 11:04

Housemum - Nice to see the photo

mum2sons - am also on ribena intake.. seems like Nov I last felt human, but this latest one is just dire.. so achey too.. got 11 nights to recover before baby is taken out, so hope I feel better by then!!

Mrs Biscuit - MW is correct, first time around I think when my waters broke helped matters by draining some fluid out of me but until then wish I could magic over my chiropractor friend to you.. REALLY helped carpal tunnel this time around.. it's horrid so you have my sympathy!! Is it worse at night for you leaving you sleepless too?

gingeme · 05/01/2008 11:50

Morning ladies. Thought it was all go last night. Got lots of tightenings about 9pm. Not painful but un comfy. Carried on till about tenish so I went to bed and tried to sleep. Had my show at about 11ish and the tightenings got a bit painful. Basicaly tried to sleep in between heartburn and tightenings till about 3am till I finaly fell asleep. Feel very achey again today. Off to the park soon to see if gravity helps things. Then to a childrens party at 4. Well see. Can only hope.
Hope all you other ladies are doing ok. xxx

barristermum · 05/01/2008 13:34

Thanks madmouse and fragolina for advice - will see what is said at the drs on tues. Had heard growth scans are famous for unreliability, but am also getting fed up of being pregnant so don't know which way to go.

Am so impressed at all of you nesters - since I stopped going to court I seem to have just crashed in the last couple of days. I just sit on the sofa and STAY there - if I perch on the stairs or on the edge of a bed for a minute I am there for at least 15 minutes. I have made an heroic effort this morning and taken all the xmas decorations down but the windows really need cleaning and I just could not care less - there seems no chance of motivating myself.

I am getting pelvic stabbing pains every so often, and if I change a position I have held for a while all sorts of bits of me hurt - I think everything is so cramped in there that when I straighten out baby and/or internal organs need to catch up before its thunderbirds a go!

Housemum - love the piccie - aah.
Gingeme - sounds like you had a rough night.
mixemama - great to have you back again and echo all fluffy says re family etc. looking forward to wheeling a pram round north london soon.
lucky - fingers crossed for you hon'
Mrs McJnr - you've gone again - where are you?

Big hugs all round

AngeChica · 05/01/2008 13:35

Just to wish Beller a happy birthday! I guess George is a great birthday present!

LuckySalem · 05/01/2008 13:41

Morning ladies. Still no baby Still got my headache and heartburn and sickness.

LO beating the crap outta me at the moment as well so I know it's fine and just lazy!!

Hope your all ok. XXX

mixedmama · 05/01/2008 14:53

Just a quick one.

Fluffy - UCH was brill, cant fault them really. Wasnt so nice that there was no toilets in the actual delivery rooms and I seemed to go to the toilet loads, but dont think I really cared at the time. MW were fab and antenatal care whilst not amazing was fine. The no parking was a problem for me but I owuld say that is the biggest problem. The birthing unit is nice enough, the delivery suite has a few very large rooms.

hey to everyone, sorry havent had time to catch up but hi hope you are all well. I am now 5 days overdue and getting fed up.

Just going to flick through and see if there is a MrsMcJnr catch up.

madmouse · 05/01/2008 15:46

Hi all

Just occured to me after switching on last night - where is Susie??

Lucky, sorry hon that you are still feeling rubbish.

KT, looks like we need to be a bit more waterproof than you , blood, waters and landlady's cream carpets don't mix (no pool here).

Barristermum, sounds like you need rest more than washed curtains, go for it. If you are fed up enough to consider induction you may be able to ask that they assess how ready your body is to take to being induced. I sure there is some sort of sliding scale for that. If you post on the childbirth thread you may get a response from people like Snaf who is i think a trainee midwife. It depends on how low the baby is and how soft the cervix etc. If your cervix is already thinking about opening one or two pessaries may do the trick.

Lolo, don't leave me here alone, you are only due one day after me!! .

Well, here a first day of getting to grips with my new limitations. managed a busride to the shops, doing a large shop at the co-op (with free delivery) and waddling to a few more shops, then the busride back. It was painful but manageable but I really needed a rest when I came home. Then when I got up from my chair owowow , seems I have done too much already. Luckily shopping arrived when DH was in the process of making me tea and lunch and he put it all away He is really sweet and it is me who finds it weird to sit in a chair while he does house stuff. Treated myself to some yarn to knit a cute stripey jumper for lo, as I will need to find a way to sit down a bit more .

Still no Naetha, getting curious now!

Hope you all have good weekends. Don't overdo the nesting!

Hello all, just to let you know that Benjamin Llewelyn arrived on Friday morning (4th) at 22 minutes past midnight weighing in at 8lbs 10oz.

Labour was the hardest thing I have ever ever ever done, gas and air, and only for the first and third phases - midwife wouldn't let me have any for the pushing phase as I wasn't focusing! Was pushing for over an hour and a half - baby was back to back, although nobody realised until he popped out! Thankfully, got away with only a minor tear and 2 stitches, although my whole body feels as if it has been run over by a freight train (my fanjo several times!).

Ben asleep at the moment, both me and DH absolutely whacked - we were discharged yesterday at 4pm after he was given the all clear. Photos on profile, although none that really show just how gorgeous he is

Will post again when I get a break!

toomanyshoes · 05/01/2008 19:25

Oh Naetha, he is really beautiful! Congratulations and don't worry, your fanjo will be back to its old self in no time!
Ben is the same weight as Charlie so we have matching DS's!

Have had a speedy scan through but no time to do a proper catch up as toddler to put to bed and baby to feed (again!) but just wanted to say to those worried about induction that it doesn't have to mean a difficult birth. I was so worried I'd end up with lots of intervention when I had mine but despite the fact that I was a week before my due date (2 weeks before according to hospital dates but what do they know ) cervix not particularly favourable and head not engaged I still had a 5 hour active labour with no intervention. I just thought I'd mention it as I did a search on here for inductio experiences and scared myself stupid!

Am sending those who have popped sleepy baby vibes and those who haven't speedy labour vibes!

charlie still yummy by the way, can't stop smelling his hair . makes me want a hundred more babies! (then I remember that you have to be pregnant for 9 months to get one and go off the idea!) xx

AngeChica · 05/01/2008 19:38

Congrats Naetha he is lovely. I love his cool spiky hair!

katyt1 · 05/01/2008 19:41

congratulations Naetha and tho big not huge. well done on a back to back labour and doing so well. hope the stitches heal quickly.
i felt like i'd run a marathon or two after ds (like i would know what that feels like !), give yourself some time to recover. and yes he looks lovely lovely name too

toomanyshoes - good to see you - assume you fanjo is recovered then !

mrsP - welcome are you ready? lol, think we are but don't want to tell my body that as dh wants to get through a busy work week next week..we'll see.

madmouse - hmm, cream carpets that aren't even yours, yes best be waterproof methinks wish i could knit...
is a shock to the system to be sitting down letting others do the work, feels weird.

right, pool is filled, going to go and test now, yummy
last time it helped to kick start things so dh is a tad nervous.... did have a 'damp' moment earlier too....

Martha200 · 05/01/2008 19:48

Congratulations Naetha on your new arrival, love his name

MrsP - Yes, things do move very quickly on the threads, only joined recently and so much going on
Am not in Oxford but not far away (well an hr away!)
Hope things go well for your homebirth,

All take care.

toomanyshoes · 05/01/2008 19:51

My fanjo has never been better Katy1

gingeme · 05/01/2008 20:47

Many congratulations Neatha. Wow he has lots of hair. Very handsome little fella. Well done to you both

LuckySalem · 05/01/2008 21:06

Congrats Naetha - Gorgeous little man and WOW!! all that hair. You've got the same moses basket as me!

Well I thought I was having contractions as I was getting some tightenings around my stomach. My "contractions", however, keep ending in a fart so maybe not

I want this baby now!! I'm so of you all.

ayrshirelolo · 05/01/2008 21:43

Evening ladies!!
Hope you are all ok, Naetha he is gorgeous!! Congratulations to you and DH, and welcome to the world Benjamin!
Sorry it's not yet kicked off for you Lucky, i hope that you don't have to wait too long!
Welcome to MrsP and moomin, we're a chatty lot to keep up with .... and i've started trying to keep up with this thread and the Feb one leaving little time for all the things i ought to be doing!! (don't worry Madmouse and Fluffy.... i always log on to this one first!! i'll still be here even if no one else is!! just thought i should say hi to the Feb ladies too from time to time! )
Mrs B carpal tunnel is horible, had it really badly last time and had splints from the physio to sleep in, majorly uncomfy but they do help, and your midwife is right, it all magically vanishes within a couple of days! Easiest 2 stone i ever lost!!!
Barristermum take it easy, i don't have particularly well developed cleaning urges either!! You need to rest as much as possible, hope the medics give you good information so you can decide what to do!
Gingeme this sounds like it? You'll know better than anyone of us, but hope it all goes well.... let us know how it's going!!
Madmouse hope things are ok, and the pain not too bad, take it easy as far as possible!!
toomanyshoes delighted your fanjo is in top condition - that one made me pmsl!!!
Kt enjoy your pool test!!! sounds lovely, i'm going to go swimming this week now the Scottish schools are back (more like going for a float than a swim i suspect ) as i find the water thing helps with the constant backache!!
Hope you feel better mum2sons, and hello to everyone, Angechica, Mixedmama, Fragolina, and anyone i haven't mentioned!!! (sorry, preggy soggy brain!)
Anyway, hope you are all ok, MrsMcJ sent me a lovely Happy New Year text so assume she's ok, just busy!! lolo xxx

madmouse · 05/01/2008 21:43

Naetha, he is absolutely gorgeous, well done for only using gas and air. And not that big at all! He looks tiny although i am sure he did not feel that way when you were pushing . Glad you're home, enjoy.

MrsPsquiggle - yay finally someone else from oxford . I am due two days after you and also planning a home birth! Whereabouts are you? I am in Barton (Waterperry midwife group).

MamaMaiasaura · 05/01/2008 21:47

Naetha huge congratulations!!! What a lovely name for a gorgeaus boy. He is beautiful.

Lucky - it wont be much longer and your LO will be in your arms x

Knackered here. Very hungry baby... mw coming tomorrow morning for a weigh in. My stitches are getting less painful. Think the anti biotics must be working. Going to have a bath with Samuel tonight. Have posted more pics

pussycatmomma · 05/01/2008 21:56

just thought id log on to see how naetha doing and WOW!!! congratulations!!
A gorgeous little fella if ever i saw one
Congrats on getting through the back to back birth - only gas and air! very impressed! Am hoping for just gas and air myself but have a feeling i will be wailing for an epidural!
hello to everyone else.
More nesting today - cleaned the car inside and out and practiced putting car seat in. Much easier than I imagined.
Very very achey today, lots of tightening pains, and bad pain "down below" when I took dog out for an hour.
Off to bed for eary night - this no sleeping business really does whack you out once it all catches up with you.
Lucky - hope things start happening for you soon, im envious of you reaching your due date though, even without much happening.
I feel as if i am going to be prg forever - officially another 18 sleeps till i get to due date!
xxxxxxxxxx love to all

sideways · 05/01/2008 21:58

Wow, I can't believe how quickly all these gorgeous little babies are being born!

Congratulations to all of you who have delivered so far. It's great reading your stories and I am in awe of you all!

I'm not due for a couple of weeks and an going through a phase of thinking OMG what am I doing, this has gone well past the point of no return, do I really want to bring all this disruption to our lives, especially to dd.

Too late now though

Anyway, keep up the good work ladies and keep posting the photos.
