hello!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
claraquitemassivenow · 14/12/2007 20:24

Congrats to Caz10, Fifi (how are you recovering from the section? I am finding it so much easier the 2nd time but fear I am doing a little too much....), Claireyb and everyone else, sorry so many babies, I can't keep up!

Skid - good luck if you read this before you give birth, although by the sounds of it you are well on your way now....

Thanks for all your messages.

I am off to post on the postnatal board now so hope some of you other new mums will join me there!

becklesparkle · 14/12/2007 22:38

Caz, phew! Little one then! Mind you, 15lb baby with just gas and air would have been very impressive!

Suey, am sure it would be fine, the sperm is only one of the things that kick things off. Hormones are released when you enjoy yourself which help as does orgasm as it makes the womb contract! Don't know if you are allowed it turned on though???

Fifi, yay! Glad it went well and you got a quick discharge!

suey2 · 15/12/2007 04:42

could this be it?

i starting having period type pain last night at around 9pm. very mild. on and off, but not consistent.

Managed to go to sleep at midnight, but got up as pain a little stronger- will now pay attention and see if there is a pattern. Have taken paracetamol. Sitting with warm towel over my belly.

But... i haven't had a show or my waters break.

could this be it?

SAmbiClaus · 15/12/2007 04:44

I hope so Suey,

buzzybee · 15/12/2007 06:26

Suey, if it doesn't go away when you change position could well be. I never had a show or waters breaking last time. However I do know people who have pain at night 2-3 nights in a row annoyingly and then it fades during the day - hope that's not what happens to you

SAmbiClaus · 15/12/2007 06:48

Sorry suey, laptop died. Been up since 2.30 with awful back pain, then about 5, what I reckon are contractions (a very sharp pain across the stomach that don't disappear when I move) started. I'm working on every 10 mins or so at the mo, but don't last for very long, about 20 seconds. Refuse to get excited though after so many ladies on here have contractions on and off for weeks beforehand.

SAmbiClaus · 15/12/2007 06:55

OMG I'm so tired, I wanna sleep...

buzzybee · 15/12/2007 07:04

Fingers crossed Ambi!!
I think lack of sleep can almost be the hardest part of labour - especially as our bodies almost always seem to start things off at night...
Assuming you have taken some paracetemol don't forget to eat or drink something high energy. Hope you manage to doze a bit.

SAmbiClaus · 15/12/2007 07:08

Don't have any paracetemol in the house, oh silly me. But the pain is ok at the mo, I can wince through it, poor DH though stupidly decided to go to bed @ 4.30 for some unknown reason, only for me to wake him up at 6.30, "ummm, babe, I think I'm having contractions" I've let him go back to sleep now, but I'm guessing he won't drift off into a deep sleep!!!

buzzybee · 15/12/2007 08:01

hmmm - wheat pack or hottie? My fav was a bath last time. Can't sleep in the bath of course but I definitely felt a lot more comfortable. Is there a corner shop open where you could get some paracetemol? Walking helps things progress anyway!

insywinsyspider · 15/12/2007 08:27

suey - sounds promising, I never had show or waters breaking last time either so it could well be the start of things

Ambi - how are you doing? hope you've found something to make you comfortable

Congrats fifi - glad you got your quick discharge

Bouncingturtle · 15/12/2007 09:10

OOh, sounds very exciting Suey & Ambi! Fingers crossed for you!

bambino1andbigbump · 15/12/2007 09:18

OMG can't believe it is my due date! I can remember looking down at thise two blue lines like it was last week!

I see there are now more babies since thurs! So exciting. Congratulations to you all!

Well the hoover is now feeling like a possible solution!!!
Fed up of feeling like a whale every time i try to turn over in bed! Its so painful as well. Pelvis really hurts when lying down.

Can you demand to have an induction on a certain date or is it up to midwife?

mcshane · 15/12/2007 09:19

Hi there everyone - some news from cazzybabs (dh here) who went into hospital on wednesday evening with raised blood pressure. When a couple of readings came out as 170/105 they weren't letting her out again. Yesterday, at +14 days by scan, she was top of the list for induction. Went on delivery ward at about 3.30pm, they tried gel and ARM (which they weren't sure worked - only 1cm dilated). A few contractions, but nothing regular - but the baby's heartrate dipped quite a bit on each one, so they started to get worried. As she was only 2cm by now, not much option but to go for ceaserian.

All happened quite fast at that point, although all the staff were excellant so didn't feel out of control. Spinal anesthetic, so I was next to her in theatre. Baby born 7.04pm, weighing 3.1kg (6-13), little girl, all healthy and well. Name Evelyn Mary, there's a picture on my profile. Out of theatre by 8, onto the normal ward by 10pm.

Obviously a world apart from the intended water birth at home, but so far everyone is healthy and well, so real complaints.

bambino1andbigbump · 15/12/2007 09:25

Congratulations cazzy and dh! She is beautiful and a gorgeous name.

Glad all is well even though it isn't what was planned.

loucee · 15/12/2007 09:36

Morning

Brilliant news for you Suey and Ambi, hope you both are holding your babies soon.

I've been ill overnight and feel really rough, wee baby has been doing some small movements but am a bit worried so might go and get checked over later. DH has taken DD to the shops so think I'll just stay in bed.

Sorry for whinging

bambino1andbigbump · 15/12/2007 09:41

Your not whinging Loucee. Wish I could stay in bed! DD was up screaming in night. Couldn't calm her for about an hour. Nightmares about fire. Very strange.

DH has gone to get my present today and for the first time in 5 years I have no idea what it is going to be! Very excited.

My LO hasn't been moving as much this past week. I think it is normal at this stage but i've been thinking about going to get it checked.

loucee · 15/12/2007 09:41

Congratulations Cazzybabs and your DH, what a lovely name. Sorry it didn't go to plan but like you have said both are healthy which is the most important thing. Off to look at your pictures now!

Happy due date Bambino! It does seem surreal finally reaching the 40wk mark (mine is on Monday). Hope things happen for you soon.
No idea about demanding induction but my MW said I wont get a date for mine until Friday (I'll be 40+4 at that appointment). I guess they take each individual's situation into account. If they induce you and you're not ready then the labour and birth could be very pro-longed and baby in distress which might result in a cs.

bambino1andbigbump · 15/12/2007 09:47

Yeah i've heard that. I'm having a sweep on monday so hoping that will work and start me off.

Feeling like i'm letting dd down a bit at mo. not going out really as feel so hideous plus next week she has her dancing christmas show and her christmas party at nursery. Would love to be there with her but sick of not being able to make plans.

Bouncingturtle · 15/12/2007 10:15

Congrats Cazzybabs and Mcshane - Evelyn is sooo precious . I want one too!!
Sorry she didn't get the birth she wanted main thing is both she and baby are healthy and well. Are the dds pleased with their new sister?
Cazzy - hope you aren't too disappointed that she wasn't a horse or a puppy lol

TMI alert - So stop reading McShane
had a bit of a gush, clear liquid not alot but noticable. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't me wetting myself but I suppose it could be do to internal application of prostaglandins
Had a few small contractions yesterday evening as well, nothing major, probably just B-H. But have been hitting the pineapple pretty heavily!

BunnyBaby · 15/12/2007 11:50

My midwife came around to see me yesterday, and although cervix nice and thin, it wasn't favourable for sweep. So she thinks a few more days. We're now spending Christmas at home, so have got tree ready in anticipation!

It would seem my contractions are therefore good pre labour signals. Can't be too long now!

I believe LOM has had her bundle too - congratulations LOM!

Will let you know when I eventually get my lovely baby!

hello all,
congrats cazzybabs!

no labour for me- but almost constant period pain- thank goodness for paracetamol.

Am going to have a relaxing day today indoors- a bit of hibernation- maybe a couple of baths. Maybe no vibrator this time .

can't help thinking it is the start of things- but i guess in any case we are all one day closer!

OP posts:
ozzymoomoo · 15/12/2007 12:24

Suey I remember I had those period type pains with my ds, didn't even cross my mind they were the start of something. A day later MW gave me a sweep and said I was 2-3 cms already!!! My waters broke the next night. So you just never know!!!!!

fifisworld · 15/12/2007 13:00

Congratulations Cazzybabs

For anyone who wants any details -

I got to the ward on Thursday at 8 and was told i was first on the list to go to theatre. I thought id still have a couple of hours but the doctor came round about 8.20 said we'll be ready for you in 20 mins
I panicked and started crying and getting all worked up for some reason, i think its because things happened so quick.
Was checked over by doctor then walked down to theatre which was such a weird feeling.
Got on table and had spinal, this was about 9am.
Doctor came in and started at 9.25 and Ethan was born at 9.37.
The screen was lowered so we could see him being born which was amazing.
He was wiped down and put straight on me for skin to skin for a while but unfortunatley i started being really sick so he was passed to dp while i was cleaned up.
Back on the ward by 11.30, out of bed at 7 for shower then home at 3 yesterday

I feel so much better than with emergency cs with ds and i can move much easier. I think ive been doing a bit too much, even though its just little things so will take it easy the next few days.

Hope everyone else is ok

Bouncingturtle · 15/12/2007 13:06

Thanks for sharing that with us fifi, looks like you made the right choice for you. Not surprised at being a bit scared, not matter how you are planning to give birth it is kind of scary!
My friend who had hers in September reckons she threw up 17 times!!
Actually I read somewhere that it's good if baby has skin to skin contact with your dp as well as with you to help with the bondng process, so have told dh to get ready to whip his t-shirt off and have some snuggly time with baby - he's all up for that

I have a really bad tummy ache atm now - hope its a sign of something, even though it could be a week early! Don't now how you overdue ladies are coping, I'm feeling so impatient now - I guess it's because I want my lo before Xmas!
