Hello all,
I'm still here, but haven't posted for ages, last time I think was back in Nov when I mentioned my boss had brought up (on the phone!) the time I'd spent surfing the internet including "Mummys Net" as IT had aleretd him to it... I was raging as various times during the day I'd gone on for 10 minutes was more than made up for by the 3 hours a day of unpaid overtime I was doing for months trying to finish up the bid I was writing before mat leave. So IT subsequently made Mumsnet a banned site and although I have internet at home, I never felt like logging on when I was getting in from work and eating dinner at 9pm every night! But have now stopped for maternity leave and having had a mad week xmas shopping and diy in house etc I have only just about caught up with the last 2 weeks postings!!!
What exciting news, congrats to all of you who have had babies, it is so lovely to read.
I'm now 39+2 and I am sure bubs will not be early after my faux pas last week....I was trying to be organised and set up a draft text in my mobile to all the people I wanted to know once he/she arrives, I then wrote a draft message along the lines of Baby X arrived on X, weighing X, Mother & X are fine. THEN...meant to save it ready for DH just to fill in the blanks and I hit SEND and there didn't seem to be any way to stop it sending! So I sent this message to about 40 people and within minutes received about 10 texts of Congrats, but asking "Is it a boy or a girl!) plus 3 people trying to phone me...do they honestly think I'd be answering the phone if I've just given birth! I then spent the next hour texting all these people agian saying it was a mistake...how embarrased was I?? Just when I thought I'd covered everyone, 2 hours later another text arrived saying "Flowers are on their way to you" so hurriedly had to phone this person and explain. So I think I have tempted fate and having sent this mad message 2 weeks early I now reckon it will come 2 weeks late!
Went to a yogacise class this morning, nearly didn't go as it meant getting up early, but so glad I did as it's only the 2nd one I've been to and it was really good going through relaxation and breathing techniques for labour, the teacher is actually a midwife at our local hospital, and is brilliant.
Then this afternoon we went to the show round at the birth centre which I hope to be able to use. We couldn't see the birth pool room as there was someone in there and the glass panel was all steamed up which was exciting and terrifying at the same time.
For all of you who're mums already are there any good threads on here you can recommend reading for breastfeeding advice as it's one of the things I'm quite worried about, being turfed out of hospital quick and not being sure what to do?
Look forward to hearing of more babies soon
