hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mixedmama · 02/01/2008 15:23

I tried everything to get LO to arrive last week as DH was off work and he doesnt get paid when he is not there, so would have been ideal as now he will have to take mre time off.

Back from appointment and was rubbish. Just booked me in for a sweep next week Tuesday.

Have tried most other things including clary sage baths but really seem to give me a headache. Have been having sex daily which is getting harder. Still nothing.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/01/2008 15:55

Hello everyone!

41 weeks today!

Was feeling ok today, less miserable lol

Went to asda with the kids and ended up having a bit of a funny turn - got all faint and dizzy and embarassingly had to sit at customer services and have a drink whilst I composed myself!

Home and dry now so just going to stay in for rest of day.

Having sweep tomorrow PLEASE work!!

mixedmama · 02/01/2008 16:44

Pecka - I asked how likely a sweep is to work today and MW sad 60% which I think is quite good odds. Felt like asking her if she could just give it a go today but she ddnt seem to be in a very receptive mood

Have you tried all the natural iduction things (I am sre you have). I was convinced that clary sage was going to work for me but alas no joy. People kept warning me not to use it before 38 weeks and not too many drops cos it is so potent but has done diddly squat for me.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/01/2008 17:23

Ive given up on diy induction - they come when they are ready I reckon although I reckon sex and sweeps might work if your just about to go anyway.

Despite my own advice Ive been for loads of long walks, nipple stim, clary sage, pineapple, curry, cumin tea

and Nothing!!!!!!!

Im going to just chill now!

HoHoHousemum · 02/01/2008 17:56

Pecka - agree with you - nothing but dynamite will shift this LO! 3rd sweep today so don't get your hopes up MM - it may work for you though! Was staying close to home "just in case" but am now thinking sod it and doing what I want anyway - picked up a nice BF top in Blooming Marvellous Sale for about £7!

becklesparkle · 03/01/2008 09:46

41 weeks today for me! Was really hoping not to go this far over this time, have a sneaky feeling this one will be even later than DS2 was (9 days). Don't know how you ever managed 42 weeks Pecka, I am in admiration.

9 calls/texts yesterday and yes I know it is nice that people care but still... do they not think we would let them know?!!

Same here with DH and pay MM, he may get paternity leave but he has only been with his current firm for 3 months so not sure he will even get that. Am hoping they will let him take the time off as paid holiday (which his old firm would have done) but we'll have to see.

I am still getting batches of very strong and regular BH's but as soon as they actually start to hurt they seem to stop! Hope they are doing some good (other than to get my hopes up). All quite mild today though - think LO knows that s/he needs to stay in until at least tomorrow afternoon now so I can take DS2 to school!

Going to take boys to soft play centre this afternoon to run off some energy and help take my mind off of baby! Is anyone else getting visibly bigger by the day???

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/01/2008 10:14

I am definitely MUCH bigger than I was even this time last week. Baby feels significantly bigger as does my NOSE for GODS sake!!!!

Im having a sweep this morning, Im going to ask the midwife to make it a really good one!

Bouncingturtle · 03/01/2008 10:25

Thinking of you ladies who are still waiting!
Can't wait to see you on the PN club.
OOh pix of Daniel on my profile!

becklesparkle · 03/01/2008 10:39

Your nose Pecka? Am much bigger too - baby seems to have feet permanently in my rib cage now (couldn't reach a week ago) which is really uncomfy when I get a BH! Can't bend or twist at all now either! Quite scary when I already know this LO will be big! Family and friends are having a sweepstake on size and only DH reckons under 9lbs.

Good luck with the sweep today Pecka - hope it does the trick. Am very as MW said I could have one at 1 week over but then at next appt said they didn't want to see me again until after LO here. Got assessment appt at hospital on Monday (10 days over) so maybe they will do something then.

Gorgeous baby Daniel Bouncing! Broody, broody me - want to meet my baby!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/01/2008 14:44

Yes, my nose!! I always get a fat nose by the end of pregnancy - its horrible!!

Well sweep went well - midwife said that my cervix was very favourable and dilated to about 2cm and very soft. She said she could have quite easily broken my waters if she had wanted to which is encouraging that even if induction becomes a real possibility I wont have to have any prostin!

She said " I have given you a very deep, thorough sweep there" and there was blood on her glove which she said was really good sign.

I have lost some/all of my plug since and am steadily bleeding a bit as well as crampy pains.

So fingers crossed!

buzzybee · 03/01/2008 20:24

Pecka that does sound very promising! I had show about 6am the day Bea was born.

She is a very easy baby so far - maybe going over has some advantages?!

Good luck - I feel your impatience!!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/01/2008 20:52

Things have picked up.

I have continued to have bloody show all day and for last couple of hours now having quite painful pains!

buzzybee · 04/01/2008 08:47

ooh good luck pecka!

becklesparkle · 04/01/2008 09:59

Oooh Pecka, good luck!

Nothing new here, barely any pains yesterday at all although 2 last night and 2 this morning which I had to breathe through. Nothing regular though but hopefully things are moving along - wd be nice to have LO this weekend!

DS2 got off to his first day at school well, he remembered to put his name on the wall and where his coat and bookbag went! Bless him! [very very proud Mummy emoction]

Bouncingturtle · 04/01/2008 10:18

Good luck Pecka! See you soon on the PN thread
Remember to BREATHE!!

Jen99 · 04/01/2008 13:33

Good luck Pecka - hope your little one is here by now.

Still waiting....

Had to ring the hospital at 0715 this morning as 'booked in' for induction but so far they do not have any beds although there is only me and one other on the list today so keeping fingers crossed. It is driving me mad though as was told when I rang up to start getting ready, hence have been ready since 8am. Now waiting for the hospital to phone. I have rung back once already and will try again soon.

Not sure what happens if they can't fit me in today? Will be 42 weeks on Sunday and also have not seen my midwife since last Friday. Baby is still active but would still like some reassurance that he is still doing ok.

Any others due in Dec still waiting?

Housemum · 04/01/2008 13:37

Good luck Pecka!

Amelie Rose arrived last night at 9.34pm - the stretch and sweep must have worked on Weds as I had a really niggly night's sleep, then woke up and had a tiny leak of waters. DH took DD1 to school then we went along to thehospital at 9.30 - a few mild contractions, I kept walking around - must have read every healt and safety notice on the board, but I wa convinced gravity would help!

By the afternoon, contractions were frequent but bearable - I was still on the antenatal ward, they said I could go home if I wanted but by this time my waters were pretty "gushy" and I didn't want that on my car or carpet! Must have got through most of a pack of maternity pads during the day. DH went back home to pick up DD2 from school and take her to grandma - when he came back at 6 I needed the TENS machine - then things realy got going - at 8 I felt really rough and DH knew what I needed from last time as he pulled the curtains and grabbed a bowl! (Felt sorry for the woman in the bed opposite) - measured at 6 cm then v strong contractions and wheeled round to the labour ward - I wanted the gas and air NOW! - managed to clamber across to bed in labour room and knelt with hands over pillows/back rest at top, clinging on to gas aand air for dear life (bless DH for understanding that my frantic hand gesture meant "give me a mask I can't cope with this stupid mouthpiece")

She took a good few pushes to come out but the MW was brilliant at slowing things down - small tear where I tore last time which is good going considering she was 9lb 1oz! (last one was 7lb 9oz)

All in all 14 hours from start to finish, actual labour was about 6 - on a total high now, they let us come home so I got to sleep(not much as she was so snuffly) in my own bed, just popped back this morning for the paediatrician to check her over.

Good luck to those still waiting - see you soon on PN thread!

becklesparkle · 04/01/2008 15:58

Congratulations Housemum! Beautiful name and sounds like you had a good labour too!

Jen, hope you got to go in for your induction today, it is sooo frustrating going overdue! I was last seen by MW last Friday and won't be seen again until Monday when I have an 'assessment appointment'.

Not sure how many of us there are left waiting actually, wonder how Pecka's getting on?

madmouse · 04/01/2008 16:17

Indith · 05/01/2008 14:56

Alright you remaining December ladies how are you doing? Bit quiet on this thread no? As the last one on my thread last year it got a bit lonely so here I am to spread some birthing cheer!

keep bouncing, twiddling and downing that tea. I'd set you the challange to see if you can beat me and hold out longer (ds finally arrived on the 11th of Jan) but I have no desire to get hit by an enraged overdue pregnant woman so I'll just send lots of labour vibes your way.

If you want some fun try going to pregnant lady stuff and scaring all those sweet flat tumed 14 week pregnant women. I went back to aqua natal when it started again after Christmas, was so much fun, only one woman who I knew from before Christmas so it went like this:

"hello I'm x"

"hi nice to meet you, how many weeks are you?"

"42"

"Oh"
