Good idea Poppy - you'll need to keep your strength up! Good luck!

No baby here either, got sent home last night as not in established labour - contractions slowed right off and only 1cm dilated. Hopefully wil kick off again later!

No action here!

Poppy10 · 26/12/2007 16:31

Hi All, nothing happenning here yet, went to lie down for a few hours around 11am and woke up at 1pm with contractions again, but as soon as I'm up and about moving they stop again, so don't think I should get excited just yet

PeckaRolloveragain what does cumin tea do?

BunnyBaby · 26/12/2007 19:49

Hi Girls... Sorry for long delay..

Michael Peter Crouch arrived on Friday 21st December at
5.05pm, he weighed 8lb 15oz / 4.04kg.

He was 3 weeks overdue, so the hospital put us under immense pressure to induce, and as a result he was born at Northwick Park - completely healthy and not looking over-cooked! Much to their surprise - I must just be a slow-cooker!

I was in a long labour for 60 hours as he was back-to-back and that was the reason for him being so late too as he couldn't quite get down far enough although my body was ready (bloody show 7 days before birth).

Amazingly he turned whilst I was in labour, and I had enough energy to push him out myself without forceps / ventouse. He is a real sweety!

Photos to follow, he is healthy and content and a
real Christmas present!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 19:56

Congrats Bunnybaby! 60 hours
You did fantastically well!

60 hours! Well done!!

Wow our baby list is so long now! Hang on in there you guys still on the waiting list. Oh and listen to all those people who said "rest while you can" - I didn't - I am KNACKERED!! 1 week between stopping work and Ella's arrival - during which I ran around like an idiot...sooooo tired now, she is wonderful but exhausting....so get these feet up!! x

buzzybee · 26/12/2007 20:53

Congratulations Lucy and Bunny!

What's Northwick Park Bunny? Well done you for resisting for so long and for surviving 60 hours, you must be an amazingly strong person!!! I imagine I'll be having the induction conversation today with the MW...

Yes only 4 days left in December, we better get on with it

chloemegjess · 26/12/2007 22:27

buzzybee - northwick park is a hospital - I was born there!

bunnybaby - What area do you live in? I was born in northwick park! I am in uxbridge, so under hillingdon, but hoping for a home birth.

I am still waiting, now 3 (nearly 4) days overdue. Fed up with everybody asking if I am ever going to give birth!

Got lots of lovely baby bits for christmas, was nice to get some brand new stuff because most of it was second hand.

Argh, hadn't realised it was only 4 days till jan! Hoping baby is december, although not sure why!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 27/12/2007 08:25

Still in early stage of labour, baby OP and it FECKING HURTS!!! Coping just about, with hot water bottle, paracetamol and Father Ted

PeckaRolloverAgain · 27/12/2007 09:21

Bouncing - hope that baby moves round in a good position very soon and just pops right out Looking forward to your announcement.

I don't feel too good - felt very, very sick last night and have woken up feeling the same.

Bleurgh

buzzybee · 27/12/2007 09:52

Thanks Chloe. I lived in London for a few years but hadn't heard of that. Thought maybe it was a specialist birthing unit.

Am now 40+5. MW came this morning and indeed we discussed induction options. She's convinced somthing will happen soon - LO feels pretty dug in to me! Although took DD1 to zoo today and after 2 hours wandering round did feel quite a few twinges.

We joked about trying to orchestrate the first baby of the new year to get our photo in the paper

Anyway I see her again on Monday and she will book me in then if nothing...

Good luck Macdoodle for the CS tomorrow...and Bouncingturtle, you hang in there girl!

WizzskaRedbreast · 27/12/2007 12:05

I echo that Caz10, get some rest ladies!

Hope everyone is bearing up.

Congrats Bunny.

becklesparkle · 27/12/2007 14:33

Congrats to the new babies! A Christmas day one too!!!

Due today and no real signs. Had a few v strong BH's in the last few days but LO is still turning and changing position all the time and bump is quite high so still don't think s/he has engaged at all. DH got another week before he goes back to work so hoping LO arrives soon so he doesn't have to take extra holiday! Would really like my baby to be a December one too although can't see it happening! Haven't had a show or anything but don't remember having one with DS2 either, got a MW appt tomorrow and going to have a chat with her about size of baby if it hasn't engaged still.

Was out and about yesterday and someone asked me "when are they due?"!!! Am really quite huge now but wondering how much of that is baby and how much fluid. There must be a fair bit of fluid in there for LO to still be able to turn so much.

chloemegjess · 27/12/2007 15:28

Well as some of you might have seen on my other thread on the pregnancy board, my waters broke at midday today. Nothing much else is happening really. Midwife is coming round later on this evening if I don't call her before hand.

My mum is coming round soon, mainly to keep me company etc. DH is ill which is really annoying! So trying not to ask him to do much at the mo, as I know I will need him later.

I nearly wore my new Pj's that I got for xmas last night - so glad I didn't as my waters have soaked 2 lots of clothes! Trying to drink lots and eat regular to keep energy up. Not feeling hungry now though.

Anyway, will try and keep you updated. Hopefully havig a home birth so I should be able to keep you all updated till the real pain starts!

HoHoHousemum · 27/12/2007 16:27

Fingers crossed all goes well Chlo! And hang on in there and grit your teeth Bouncing!

Just had weekly MW check and another sweep - so let's hope it does something this time - head even further down (was 4/5 now 2/5 - I still get all confused that the numbers go backwards!) Panicked for a second as it was the first time that she didn't pick up the heartbeat straight away but then she moved the sonicaid lower and found it - she said that was just another indicator of the baby being well engaged as that would be where you'd expect the heartbeat to be when in labour. Positioning is v good - back is to my right, not back-to-back, so she says it's in a great position for labour - so am telling it to get a move on now!

Have had Next sale delivery of half-price stuff already today - 3 blue and 3 pink sets of clothes, so I can send back whichever colour is wrong! Nice set of unisex muted red/blue cot bedding - makes me laugh though that you get a bumper and a quilt - you can only use bumpers until they can sit up, and you can't use quilts under 12 mths, so they'll never be on the bed together! Have also orderd a cheap McLaren buggy for next summer's hols but they only had it in pink in the sale so it'll be going back if it's a boy!

macdoodle · 27/12/2007 17:48

Tried to turn baby this afternoon - bloody hell was painful offered me G+A but thought might puke so just gritted teeth...didn't work though
So back in for 8am and plannned section tomorrow at 40+2 bit nervy but ok - DD at MIL tonight missing her already
Will have baby by this time tomorrow

Poppy10 · 27/12/2007 20:17

Sorry to hear it didn't work macdoodle and v.excited for you chloemegjess that things are happenning.

1 week overdue now and I had a MW appointment this afternoon for a stretch and sweep, but she couldn't do it as cervix is firmly closed . Also told baby's head is at the brim of the pelvis, when last week it was 3/5 engaged, so quite gutted. Particularly because I've been having contractions on off since 6am yesterday and since 3pm today they've been about every 10 minutes and really quite painful (have to stop what I'm doing) so was all set for MW to say to me that I was maybe 2cm dilated and likely to have it soon. Instead she booked another sweep for Saturday and said she didn't think it was likely to arrive any earlier than the w/e. I wouldn't mind so much but this pain when it comes is pretty bad, so if it carries on I can't imagine having pain like this every 10 minutes for at least another 2 days, which worries me that if these aren't "proper" contractions I guess the real ones are so much worse!

Does anyone know if its possible to be having proper contractions but with no dilation whatsoever?

At least I'm glad now that when I saw the acupuncturist at 40+1 I made another appointment for tomorrow, so maybe that will stimulate things more now that something seems to be happenning.

ozzymoomoo · 27/12/2007 20:26

I too saw MW today for my sweep. Was told baby was 3/5 engaged same as last week and cervix is still thick. But it is open about 3-4 cms. Had 1hr half labour with DS so am expecting another quick one by the looks of it, when it finally starts!!!!!

Curlygirly · 27/12/2007 21:09

Hi, just to let you know I had my baby on xmas day. It's a girl called Lois Maisy and she weighed 7lb 14oz.

Went into hospital about midday ish and had her at 5.10pm. Got to 8cm on gas & air then needed an epidural. As the canula was being put in I started pushing and the last stage lasted only 4 mins!

Feeling battered and bruised but on such a high. Ds1 & 2 seem pretty cool about her arrival.

Good luck to the rest of you. x

Ambi · 27/12/2007 21:37

congrats Curly, another Xmas baby. Come over to PN thread. Lois is such a pretty name.
