Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MrsW, I'd go ahead and phone the hospital. The worst they can say is contact you midwife or GP and if they do then you can always call one of them and discuss your concerns. You'll feel alot more positive if you've done something about it rather than just sitting around worrying.

If you ohone your surgery I'm sure they'll have detials of your m/w at reception. The hospital may even be able to give you the details.

katz, you'll hve to let us know as soon as you get back if your expecting one or two!!! Good Luck!!!

Teabelly - I'd drop the idea of being in control this time round. I had those delusions as well but they've been smacked out of me pretty damn quick. Apparently you're supposed to let your house fall into a complete state while you take it easy with No 1 & 2 for at least a few weeks!!!

teabelly · 10/11/2004 09:51

he he sweetheart letting the house fall into a right state isn't a problem!!

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 09:53

hee hee

I also read a thread the other day which said that wiping you face with a flannel will make you feel glamourous!!!

I never leave the house without my full face on

So I guess I'll be spending alot of time indoors!!!!!!

teabelly · 10/11/2004 10:01

...funny I wasn't bothered one way or another before ds was born, but now that my body's falling apart, I feel I can try and disguise it but putting makeup on and drawing attention to my face instead

Scraggyaggy · 10/11/2004 10:19

Morning all!

Charleypops - am v jealous of your fish & chips. Mmmmmmm

Lipstickmum - Have found the ideal brie solution for you on my trip round Tesco's last night - Mature brie and Cranberry kettel chips. No guilt there!

JennyWren - I think the birthday card from "bump" is a lovely idea! We spent ages trying to decide how to tell my parents, and now we've got work out how to tell the other set!

MrsW - I'd deffo speak to the mid-wife or GP. It's probably nothing, but your peace of mind is the most important.

Is anyone due 8th June? Lots of you seem to be due on the same day amd I'm feeling left out .

As for meeting up, we could meet on a weekend and have a Christmas thingy? Lunch? Trip to a toy shop?

Uwila · 10/11/2004 10:42

Well, to be honest, I haven't done loads of research on St. Peters. I talked to a handful of people who went there (about 5). One of them said it was okay. She had a straightforward vaginal birth with no complications. Everyone else said it was crap. Generally, people said they were understaffed and the midwives didn't have time to give proper care due to be overworked. So, I started wondering how many doctors they have. I looked on Dr. Foster and their didn't seem to be many consultants assosiated with St. Peters. So, I fugure it was safe to conclude that waiting time for seeing consultants wouldn't be very accommodating either. So, I just decided I wanted to go elsewhere. And why shouldn't I? I pay mu share of NI taxes. So why shouldn't I get to choose a hospital I like. Then, I went to the GP, who was rude and very unaccommodating. And, I thought right, I'm not going to be treated that way. So, I changed GP, put up a bunch of stink, and now (I think!) I am going to go to Queen Charlotte, which is actually my very first choice. So, it has worked out.... I hope!!!

So, basically, the complaint is that they are understaffed. And some other details that are a result of being understaffed.

katzguk · 10/11/2004 10:50

they think two is a possiblity because of the servere morning sickness plu si have a family history. lucky for me the maternity hospitalis just next door to where i work so can pop over for scan then pop back to show everyone piccy!!

whoever mentioned marmite thanks a lot, i just had to trugde down to the canteen to get some toast and marmite!! very nice it is too!!

my due date at the mo is the 11th but will probably change this pm after the scan thats the date the hospital use

katzguk · 10/11/2004 10:51

mrs W have you got an early pregnancy unit call there and i'm sure they will see you

MrsWednesday · 10/11/2004 10:56

Well I phoned the midwifery office, told them what was going on and they put me through to the EPU. The woman there was incredibly unhelpful and said that they can't do anything unless they get a referral from my GP. Feel all pathetic because I burst into tears on the phone when talking to her.

So, I think I just need to get a grip really. Either that or pay another £70 for a private scan. Found out on Monday that my close friend who due 3 days before me (we have DSs the same age and had m/cs at the same time this year) has had another m/c, which has also really upset and unnerved me.

Right. I'll shut up now. Have given myself a silent but stern talking to.

Uwila - good for you! Wish I wasn't such a wet blanket at times!

What time is your scan Katzguk?

Thanks for all your advice ladies, I really do appreciate it and I'm sorry for going on and on.

Uwila · 10/11/2004 10:57

So, are twins hereditary. I thought they didn't know what caused them. Which side are they hereditary on? Mother's side? Dad's side? Just wondering because DH has identical twin half sisters. Although, I've gotten off with almost no morning sickness (touch wood) so I'm probably safely carrying one.

I used to think it would be really cool to have identical twins. But, by the time I reached the third trimester with DD, I just though thank God there is only one.

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 10:59

MrsW (((((Hugs)))))

Phone your Dr/midwife now. You won't stop worrying until you've put your mind at rest. Surly they can't leave you in such a state.

Try not to think about your friend - horrible as it is - you need to take care of yourself ATM!!!!

Take a deep breeath, pull yourself together, and phone the Dr's surgery and give them hell!!!!

Uwila · 10/11/2004 11:01

Oh, forgot to mention the meet-up. If it's on a weekend and DD can come along, then I'm definitely interested. But, there's no way of making it during the week. And,I won't be off on maternity leave until I'm ready to pop. I prefer to have my time off after the birth rather than before.

I live in Sunbury, but would be willing to anywhere in Surrey/Middlesex/London to meet up.

katzguk · 10/11/2004 11:01

i think non-identical are the heredritry one but not sure just know family history of them can increase odds, when FIL was try for baby with step-wife he tried to get twin insurance but was told she was a high risk!! twins are on all side mine dH's, fraternal and maternal hence the slight panic they it may be true!! only two and a hlaf hours to wait!! appotinment at 1.10pm

MrsWednesday · 10/11/2004 11:13

I think identical twins is completely random, and non-indentical is hereditary on the maternal side. So Katzguk is definitely in with a chance!!!

On the nickname thread, someone was asking where you got your name from Katzguk?

Scraggyaggy · 10/11/2004 11:18

Katz, will you be able to come online after the scan and let us know??? We've got non-identicals in both of our families and to be honest, we'd love to have two in one go (although it will probably be doubly painful!!)

MrsW - Get on the phone! Stress is no good for you or baby. I'm sure your GP will be reassuring one way or t'other.

I'd deffo go for a weekend meet up. Would be really nice.

katzguk · 10/11/2004 11:18

ahhh that would be telling...............

no its quite simple really katz is from my first name g from my surname and uk because i'm a brit

teabelly · 10/11/2004 11:23

...re twins, yep the hereditary ones are the non identical ones, where you release two eggs at ovulation, think it's passed down on the mothers side, which is big relief to me as dh's dad was a non identical twin, but we only have one incidence of identical ones on my side. Katz...does sound more and more like twins could be a very real possibility

If more people can make a weekend meet that would be fab - obviously lo's could come too...don't think my ds would let me come on a train when it's not for work and not let him come too! Does anyone know of events/places we could go with the lo's? Scraggy mentioned lunch and a toy shop, which would be good (although stopping Luke wanting all the toys would be a challenge, he he! )

katzguk · 10/11/2004 11:35

i will try and pop back on after the scan, will leave my computer on as an excuse to have to come back to the office. i doubt very much that there are twins in there but hey soon very soon will find out!!

MrsWednesday · 10/11/2004 11:42

OOOoh, it is exciting Katzguk - good luck!!!!

Thanks for the name explanation by the way.

Tessiebear · 10/11/2004 11:56

Katzguk -GOOD LUCK for this afternoon -let us know
Mrs Wed - can you try nagging your doctor again to try and refer you???
Have been feeling sick since 2AM just starting to feel better now!
P.S Lippy - its fine to call me TB or Tess or TessieX

Scraggyaggy · 10/11/2004 11:58

I reckon we could have a look around for sthg for the lo's. I don't have one, but I spose I could always borrow one!!

teabelly · 10/11/2004 12:11

he he scraggy you can borrow mine anytime...may put you off the one you're expecting tho

I was thinking maybe a good grotto or something, not necessarily an all afternoon event...

Scraggyaggy · 10/11/2004 12:12

Poor Tessiebear. Chin up!

Scraggyaggy · 10/11/2004 12:15

A grotto would be good, Hamleys? Do they have things like that? Or John Lewis on Oxford Street? We do need to factor in food though - not sure how old everyone's lo's are or what they eat....

LipstickMum · 10/11/2004 12:23

Hi gals, Lots of chat this morning, good stuff! So, we are waiting to find out if Katz is going to have twins well, that would be interesting!!!
How are you MrsW? Still a bit shaky? Horrible situation to be in really. I don't really have any experience of spotting during early pg so can't be of any constructive use I'm afraid. Try not to let your imagination run away with you if you can, that's the worst bit.

I am feeling mildly better today. Have just scoffed a ham and tomato baguette with mayo AND I enjoyed it . Of course, now that I don't feel so sick, I am panicking as to 'why?' is something wrong? It's too early to not feel sick anymore etc. etc. No pleasing some people!!

Meet up sounds good, you'll all have so much fun. I live quite close to the London area but don't really have the energy to be included.

I have loads to do and need to get off here!!!!!!!
