@Staryflight445 thank you for responding- honestly it's so difficult but knowing others have had theirs in the first trimester with no negative outcomes gives me some confidence.

Staryflight445 · 23/08/2021 14:14

@Laurpoppy1 I don’t think overanalysing is unique to first pregnancy, you’ve only got to look at this thread haha.

This is my third and very unexpected, it is the first pregnancy I haven’t had spotting or sickness so it’s very odd to me so far. I did let it bother me but people with sickness have miscarriages too so honestly, it’s just not worth stressing about anything pregnancy related. Try enjoy the ride unless you’re bleeding red or in discomfort or something.

These first weeks are awful until you start feeling them. Even then you’ll still find something to worry about, even when they’re born that doesn’t stop.

Try fill up your time until your 12 week scan, keep yourself busy!

Staryflight445 · 23/08/2021 14:15

Even if someone has a negative outcome afterwards, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the vaccine @wannabeamummysobad.
You need to keep yourself safe, why haven’t you had your first dose yet?

Is it because of TTC?

wannabeamummysobad · 23/08/2021 15:48

@Staryflight445 I recognise correlation doesn't equal causation- however with limited (in the grand scheme) data available I think it appropriate to canvas real life experiences.

To answer your question though I held off on getting the jab partly because we wanted to TTC (only started in July and got my BFP first cycle, DH got his jab either way however he too worried that if we struggled I'd blame him and the jab- if I'm honest until proven otherwise I likely would have. I'm thankful it never came to that) but also because I have allergies and initially was advised that before of my chronic excema and psoriasis I should hold off as I might have a negative impact (for me the risk of those negative impacts to me personally outweigh any societal benefits- I'm ready to be flammed for that statement). Since then the guidance has softened but by then the damage was done - I was 99% certain I wouldn't be having it (despite protests from DH, Mum (a nurse), MIL/FIL( retired researchers).

Honestly if not for the chat about potential placenta damage I would still likely have said no until the trial phase has elapsed. However, I'm now 5 weeks pregnant and according to the apps developing a placental connection with my first child so thinking less about me and my allergies and more about him/her. I will raise with my MW on Wednesday but as I said wanted to understand from those at the same stage of pregnancy as me what their thoughts are.

Staryflight445 · 23/08/2021 16:14

I’m not flaming you at all, it’s everyone’s personal decision.
I saw a lady on tiktok earlier, well, she was a young girl really. Covid have her pneumonia when she was 28 weeks pregnant and she ended up in a coma, she woke up to having a 10 day old that they’d removed whilst she was under due to things not going well.

The vaccine is so important, you’ll need whooping cough, flu and also an anti d if you’re rhesus negative too. I’ve had it all both pregnancy’s and everything’s been fine, touch wood!

wannabeamummysobad · 23/08/2021 16:29

@Staryflight445 I'm fine with vaccines- I've had all except covid to date and am well traveled so have had yellow fever vaccinations etc as well.

I'm also all geared up to have whooping cough, flu and also an anti d vaccinations as well- all of these have been around for decades so the LT impacts are a known quantity.

I appreciate the potential value in the covid jab and now that the potential reward from having it outweighs the risk (to me and my unborn child) of not having it I'm definitely considering it. My natural scepticism has served me well to date so I like to have lots of evidence before making decisions. Thanks again

orangekitkat13 · 24/08/2021 22:15

@wannabeamummysobad

Good morning ladies, I have my first midwife appointment on Wednesday (5w3d) and am going to raise a question on the Covid jab. Initially I was reluctant because of the rumours of messing with fertility and because I have very bad excema and psoriasis so didn't want to risk any of the ingredients causing me to flare up (I've had no flare ups the past 4 months). However, now with all the stories about covid damaging the placenta etc I'm thinking that the benefit to my baby outweighs my discomfort from a bad flare up.

Since we are due around the same time I wanted to ask- has anyone on the thread been jabbed since finding out they are pregnant or planning to during pregnancy?
If yes, how far along will you be for both?

I had my second COVID jab at 5weeks pregnant. I made the decision that as I was still so early that it would be better to just go for it. If I'd been a few more weeks along I might have waited till I was 12weeks but please I've got it done.

Hi I was wondering how you ladies are doing with symptoms so far?
Im 5 weeks 2 days going by lmp but so far I just feel tired, have slightly sore nipples and am bloated x
Slightly worried than im not feeling sick 🙁 xx

LSW82 · 25/08/2021 09:06

@Teaandcrumpets95 I have read that sickness typically starts about 6+ weeks, but you also might be one of the lucky ones who doesn't get it at all. I am currently 5+5 and so far just tired, bloated & a bit of cramping x

wannabeamummysobad · 25/08/2021 11:36

@Teaandcrumpets95 I don't have heavy symptoms. Some intermittent cramping and bloating but nothing that stands out to me as out of the ordinary.
Not everyone does, I have friends who had no morning sickness or symptoms- without the bump they barely believed they were. They've all given birth to healthy DC.

Then there are those who basically hibernated due to severe sickness from DPO12 and only got back to normal post pregnancy. Everyone is different.

I'm telling myself this as much as anything because sometimes I think forums can be a bit like trip advisor or a romantic relationship . If everything is fine you'll say nothing. If you feel 💩 you tell the world x

@Teaandcrumpets95 I didn't feel sick at all until week 7 I don't think and the past 7 days it's been a constant background nausea without vomiting. It's not pleasant but reassuring in some ways. However, since feeling nauseous my boobs are less sore and my exhaustion isn't as bad so naturally I worry about that! I think we will all be stuck in a cycle of fear until we are holding our healthy babies in our arms .. roll on April 2022 ❤️🤞🏻
Teaandcrumpets95 · 25/08/2021 15:12

@Nervyy @LSW82 @wannabeamummysobad

Thanks ladies that is reassuring!

I think I need to spend more time away from the internet and just relax - it's so hard to not overthink 😅 xx

I'm sure it'll hit eventually and I'll be complaining then so should enjoy lack of sickness while it's lasts ha xx

Staryflight445 · 26/08/2021 10:07

I feel so nauseous today. I think I’m around 7 weeks today?
I’m really worried about the school run, any tips on doing it whilst you feel like you’re going to vomit? So far only a lot of dry heaving, smells are really setting me off.

I haven’t got anyone that can help me really

FinnsMammy · 26/08/2021 10:47

Hi girls can I join I notice some familiar names on here. I’m 7 weeks today due April 14th 😍 had a mc back in June so I’ve booked a reassurance scan for next Wednesday 🤞🏻 @Staryflight445 did you try the seabands for the Nausea? I feel yuck it’s not so much Nausea though more like a constant upset stomach so I guess I’m lucky that way I guess I’m just glad to feel off. I was very worried as my symptoms just stopped for about 2 days earlier this week but they are back so it’s reassuring 🙏

FinnsMammy · 26/08/2021 10:52

@Laurpoppy1 lots of people spot it can be very normal in early pregnancy. Are you having pregnancy symptoms? X

Staryflight445 · 26/08/2021 11:04

@FinnsMammy that’s my due date too! (I think!)
I haven’t tried anything yet. I suffered really badly in my other pregnancy’s and nothing ever worked so I haven’t really got anything I want to try yet 😅

Laurpoppy1 · 26/08/2021 11:33

Thanks @Staryflight445 and @FinnsMammy, makes me feel a lot better :)

Apart from spotting and cramping, I’ve had slightly sore boobs (nothing more than normal period!), bloating and feeling a bit tired and getting out of breath more when I go out. Have felt a bit dizzy a couple of times and get dry mouth if I’ve not had a drink for about half an hour. Seem to feel hungry really quickly too! A bit emotional? Been going to the toilet about 1000 times a day lol. But I wouldn’t say it was anything really major, if I hadn’t have been ttc and missed my period I’m not sure whether I would have noticed yet! Apart from the million toilet trips a day maybe haha. Hope you’re all doing ok, glad to hear there’s a few others not having too many symptoms yet too!

FinnsMammy · 26/08/2021 12:04

@Laurpoppy1 you have plenty of symptoms similar to what I have now with this baby. The reason I ask is because I did spot and unfortunately I did have an mc but I had literally no symptoms at all with that pregnancy and from what I read when I was goggling like a mad women was the women that spotted with symptoms generally had a good outcome. Best of luck I’m sure yet will be fine xx

Laurpoppy1 · 26/08/2021 12:29

Thanks @FinnsMammy. Trying to remind myself that if it’s going to happen there’s nothing I can do about it so to try not to dwell on it constantly (much easier said than done!!). I’ve booked an early scan in just under 2 weeks just to give me a midway point before the 12 week scan to keep me going, make sure there’s something there and in the right place etc! How are you feeling with this pregnancy? Hope all is well :) x

alvaryder · 26/08/2021 21:33

Hello everyone, I've been putting off testing as I've been on holiday in a caravan with no access to supermarkets or pharmacies. So I've finally tested 9 days late and it's a positive.
I'm excited but panicking as I'm 42 and this will be my 2nd (DS 4) but I have 2 bonus kids also. Which makes 4.
So I've gone from a 1 kid single mum to a potentially 4 kid family.
Did I mention I'm 42?
Hoping this pregnancy won't be as stressful as my last. 2nd one is easier right??? Right??

alvaryder · 26/08/2021 21:35

@Teaandcrumpets95 don't worry, I didn't get nauseous until my 9th week last time. Boobs were sore all the way through and my doc said that's the significant one

BertieTheBungalow · 27/08/2021 12:54

Hi ladies can I join please?

Just got my bfp this morning - going by my last period im 6 weeks and 5 days!

Staryflight445 · 29/08/2021 12:40

I’m feeling absolutely horrendous, sofa bound. I need to go get my second dose of pfizer but I’m just not well enough to go.
I really don’t know what to do for the best 😢

alvaryder · 29/08/2021 15:20

@Staryflight445 so sorry to hear that! Just take it easy and don't stress if you can't go today

FinnsMammy · 29/08/2021 15:24

@Staryflight445 I thought the vaccine wasn’t allowed until 14 weeks of pregnancy? Can you not delay the second one ? Sorry your feeling rubbish I’m also in bed at the minute feeling horrendous but it will all be worth is in April 🥰
