I am working away from home at the moment, and changing location is part of it. I am living away from my family which is the toughest part.

EllieG · 05/12/2007 12:29

That is a bit horrid. You have part of your family with you though I suppose, which is nice.

rainbowdays · 05/12/2007 12:34

Yep, this one keeps reminding me he/she is with me, which is great. He/she is now telling me to go get some lunch - oh no have I mentioned food!!!!!

scampmum · 05/12/2007 12:41

Morning all - Natalie, sorry it didn't go so well at GOSH, hope Matthew doesn't feel too poorly with it and the sweat test gets you closer to a diagnosis and some good treatment. Sure the induction meeting will go well - certainly sounds like you have mitigating circumstances! You're one hell of a lady - I hope you're proud of yourself for coping with all this so bravely, and (seemingly) always focusing on your DS and not yourself.

We went to docs this am, DD has perforated her eardrum and is on antibiotics. Had morning off for it and got in at 12 - nursery phoned at 12.25 to tell me she hasn't settled at all and they need me to go and pick her up. Boss in a meeting but I should be heading off soon. Nice to spend the afternoon with her, too - we had a lovely morning and went to a cafe for breakfast where she sat in a big chair and ate beans on toast - she was very excited. I might do that as my weekly Mummy and Poppy activity when I have the new baby (was getting some tips from the sibling rivalry thread...) - it was lovely to sit there facing each other and sharing something, plus she got to eat white toast and baked beans which fascist Mum wouldn't usually allow!

Good luck for scan, Toast. Bit gutted to hear they can't always see stuff at 20 weeks - we are booked in for Fri which is bang on 20 because of the high DS risk and the foetal ECG - not sure I'll cope that well with being summoned back in a couple of weeks. Feel amazingly fine about it all now but I think could just be because I've been very focused on this Fri for the last 8 weeks.

scampmum · 05/12/2007 13:21

Yippee - called nursery and she is better. No temperature and playing happily. Think it might have been a misunderstanding because I forgot to tell them she had a late, big breakfast and a bit of a sleep this morning so she refused lunch (VERY uncharacteristic) and didn't want to go to sleep .

Don't get to spend afternoon with her but will be able to prepare for scary meeting tomorrow (great alternative...). I can't stand it when she is unhappy at nursery and I'm just sitting her impotently waiting to get the go-ahead to leave.

Feel free to skip these two posts!

VictorianSqualor · 05/12/2007 13:35

LOL@impotently scapmum, did you mean impatiently
Glad she is ok.
I am having the crap kicked out of my stomach right now.

Hi Rainbow - like Ellie said, why have you moved so many times?

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 05/12/2007 14:00

Sorry rainbow, just seen your message Scampmum - pleased your DD is better, mmmm beans on toast. You´re obviously like me then, no white bread enters our house, ever!! DH puts it down to me being a snobby southerner

scampmum · 05/12/2007 14:02

No, I meant because I have to wait for my stupid boss to reappear so I can ask to leave and await his beneficent dispensation. I did mean 'here' and not 'her', though!

I love my boss.

My LO is having a kicky day today, too. We were in Superdrug earlier getting P's prescription and she was trying to kick herself out of the buggy rain-bubble (in fun, not anger, luckily) - it was lovely being able to tell her that her little sibling was kicking away too!

scampmum · 05/12/2007 14:05

Grew up with insanely health-conscious dad - he's a good advert for it, though, as he looks way under 60. He worked really hard, though, so didn't notice we had dalesteaks and chips for supper most days! (with a chunk of cucumber on the side as a concession to him)

Sheds75 · 05/12/2007 14:10

Dalesteaks..... what a blast from the past!

scampmum · 05/12/2007 14:11

Finally someone else who remembers them! Did you have breakfast slices (fake bacon) as well?

Sheds75 · 05/12/2007 14:17

sure did.........

and the Canadian minute steaks

scampmum · 05/12/2007 14:57

Didn't have them - was I missing out?

GRRR nursery have just rung back really accusatorily (?) saying 'PLEASE make your best efforts' - ??! I was quite short with her (different girl, very annoying anyway) and told her that her colleague had told me not to come! Apparently she has been really upset and now has a temperature and has sweated through her clothes... FFS. At least my boss is out of his meeting so he can roll his eyes at me and make comments about how unreliable I am.

sagitta · 05/12/2007 15:02

That's really crap, scampmum - why is nursery being so unreliable? Hope telling your boss that you have to leave goes well..

scampmum · 05/12/2007 15:19

Thank you. It's just this annoying girl. I checked with my handy GP Mum and she says 37.8 is not that high and should go back to normal really easily with Calpol. Nursery now telling me they can't give Calpol if they're already giving penicillin. a) they have done before (another ear infection) and b) that's exactly what I'm going to do if I go and pick her up and I'd rather her temperature were regulated earlier than later.

I HATE not being able to run to her when she's not well, but I just can't up and leave work all the time. Roll on maternity leave

It really doesn't help them giving me a massive guilt trip. Of course I'd love to come immediately... but I have a job.

It's not that big a deal but it really stresses me out when I don't get on with her carers. This is the same annoying girl who kept banging on about her growing a double row of teeth (??! WTF?) about two weeks ago - I think I posted about it.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 05/12/2007 15:19

Scampmum - what´s your bosses problem? He sounds like a right miserable bugger! Give the nursery a good dressing down as well. Hope it all goes well.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 05/12/2007 15:21

FWIW Scampmum my brother had two rows of teeth for ages before his baby teeth fell out However, that comment probably doesn´t help as I don´t know why the girl at nursery said that

scampmum · 05/12/2007 15:21

On a lighter note, I now have Whitney Houston warbling 'Run to You' from the Bodyguard soundtrack in my head.

scampmum · 05/12/2007 15:23

He has so many I don't even know where to begin - repetitive, unimaginative, completely lacking in humour and compassion... I could go on indefinitely.

She wouldn't start growing her grown-up teeth at 19 months, though, would she? It was just because this girl kept going on about her teething at the front until I gently pointed out she already has all her front teeth.

scampmum · 05/12/2007 15:24

Thanks for all your support for my silly little problems, lovely ladies.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 05/12/2007 15:27

Saw DS at lunchtime & he's all bunged up and snotty, bless him. Fortunately there´s no school tomorrow or Friday so he´s got 4 days to recover It´s his Christmas concert on the 13th Dec - aaahhh! Still have to get his outfit together

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 05/12/2007 15:29

scampmum - I do believe that 19 months would be a tad early for her grown-up teeth to come through (silly nursery woman!) Either that or she´s incredibly advanced for her age

sagitta · 05/12/2007 15:38

Sorry you're having a crap time scampmum, nurseries (and bosses) can be awful. Hope dd gets better soon. Can nursery give her nurofen instead of calpol, if they don't want to give calpol?
My dd's nursery has a "three poos and you're out for 48 hours" policy - which is a nightmare for a girl that loves fruit

scampmum · 05/12/2007 16:01

Nursery were great in the end - accepted phonecall from my Mum as a doc (hope they don't think it's fishy as have previously spoken to my Dad about Calpol and Nurofen at same time, also a doc but since retired so couldn't use him this time!) and have given her Calpol, phew.

3 poos and you're out?? oh my god, P would never spend any time there! Wish they had that policy at my work, though - I'd be much better at getting my 8-a-day!!

I suspect the efforts of monitoring such a policy might put them off, though!
